Technical practice code, KGS GC101 2018, for explosion hazard area selection and distance calculation of gas facility was enacted and implemented from July 12, 2018. This code includes whole contents of IEC60079-10-1 2015 (Explosive atmospheres Part 10-1: Classification of areas - Explosive gas atmospheres), and clarifies the interpretation of ambiguous standards or adds guidelines for standards. KGS GC101 is a method for classifying explosion hazard place types: (1) Determination of leak grade (2) Determination of leakage hole size (3) Determination of leakage flow (4) Determination of dilution class (5) Determination of ventilation effectiveness, finally (6) Determination of danger place (7) Explosion The range of dangerous places can be estimated. In order to easily calculate this process, the program (KGS-HAC v1.14, C-2018-020632) composed by Visual Basic for Application (Excel) language was produced by Korea Gas Safety Corporation. We will discuss how to use codes and programs to select and set up explosion hazard zones for field users.

This study shared with community mapping participants spatial analysis information, collected using smart devices, to give them an opportunity to objectively review their opinions. The study examined the impact of sharing such spatial information on residents' decision-making and perceptions. Yeongju-dong in Jung-gu district of Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea was selected for the case study; community mapping was carried out in Yeongju-dong to identify hazardous areas to improve pedestrian safety of primary school students. The community mapping participants drew a preliminary hazard map based on their experience and perception. Then, they drew a second hazard map after being given spatial information on pedestrian safety installations and pedestrian flow collected with smart devices including drones and sensors. Numerous changes in ranking across various sections occurred when the two maps were compared. There was a climb in the ranking of areas where the pedestrian flow was higher and lacked safety installations based on objective measurements over the perceptions of the participating people. Furthermore, according to a survey conducted among the participants, the provision of spatial analysis information using smart devices during community mapping process not only helped them recognize local community problems, but also raised their expectations that their submitted opinions would be reflected in policies. Moreover, the participants demonstrated increased self-confidence and faith in themselves as they were able to have more trust in the outcome they created.
Aids to navigation, such as buoys used in maritime environments, play a crucial role in providing accurate information to navigating vessels, enabling them to precisely determine their position and maintain safe routes by marking surrounding hazardous areas. However, collisions between ships and these aids result in substantial costs for buoy damage and repair. While high-end equipment is currently used to prevent such accidents, its widespread adoption is hindered by cost concerns. This paper presents research on a maritime object detection algorithm utilizing embedded systems to address this issue. Previous studies employed the Hough transform for horizon detection, but its high computational demands posed challenges for real-time processing. To overcome this limitation, our approach first performs image segmentation, followed by an optimized Otsu algorithm for horizon detection. Subsequently, we establish a Region of Interest (ROI) based on the detected horizon, focusing on areas with a high risk of ship collision. Within this ROI, particularly below the horizon line, maritime objects are detected. A Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model is then applied to determine whether the detected objects are ships. Objects classified as ships within the ROI are considered potential collision risks.
This study evaluates the usefulness and capability of surface electrical resistivity technique for identifying the weak zones or subsurface cavities in karst area with limestone formation. Weak zones or cavities near surface can be potentially dangerous and several problems are associated with collapse of roads or buildings accompanied by subsidence phenomena. In this paper, both two and three dimensional resistivity investigation were conducted to investigate subsidence along a road in Yongweol-ri, Muan-gun, South Korea. The results of the resistivity survey using dipole-dipole array provide a clear view of the weathered regolith, the distribution of weak zones or cavities and bedrock. Several low resistivity areas were identified and subsequent drilling led to the discovery of several weak zone or clay-filled underground cavities. The drilling results show excellent correlation with the resistivity images. It is illustrated, the ability of electrical technique to produce high resolution images of subsurface, which are useful for subsidence assessment. Also the results of this study have demonstrated that two and three dimensional electrical resistivity surveys are useful for delineating the subsidence area. Based on resistivity imaging, the map of hazardous zone has been developed.
Food safety is a term broadly applied to food quality that may adversely affect human health. These include zoonotic diseases and acute and chronic effects of ingesting natural and human-made xenobiotics. There are two major areas of concern over the presence of residues of antibiotics in animal-derived foodstuffs with regard to human health. The first is allergic reactions. Some antibiotics, such as penicillins can evoke allergic reactions even though small amounts of them are ingested or exposed by parenteral routes. The second is development of antibiotic resistance in gut bacteria of human. Recently multi-resistant pneumococcal, glycopeptide-resistant enterococci and gram negative bacteria with extended-spectrum $\beta$-lactamases have spread all over the world, and are now a serious therapeutic problem in human. Although it is evident that drugs are required in the efficient production of meat, milk and eggs, their indiscriminate use should never be substituted for hygienic management of farm. Drug should be used only when they are required. In addition to veterinary drugs, environmental contaminants that were contaminated in feed, water and air can make residues in animal products. Mycotoxins, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals derived from industries can be harmful both to animal and human health. Most of organic contaminants, such as dioxin, PCBs and DDT, and metals are persistent in environment and biological organisms and can be accumulated in fat and hard tissues. Some of them are suspected to have endocrine disrupting, carcinogenic, teratogenic, immunodepressive and nervous effects. The governmental agencies concerned make efforts to prevent residue problems; approval of drugs including withdrawal times of each preparation of drugs, establishment of tolerances, guidelines regarding drug use and sanitation enforcement of livestock products. National residue program is conducted to audit the status of the chemical residues in foods. Recently HACCP has been introduced to promote food safety from farm to table by reducing hazardous biological, chemical and physical factors. Animal Production Food Safety Program, Quality Assurance Programs, Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank are para- or non-governmental activities ensuring food safety. This topic will cover classification and usage or sources of chemical residues, their adverse effects, and chemical residue status of some countries. Issues are expanded to residue detection methodologies, toxicological and pharmacokinetic backgrounds of MRL and withdrawal time establishments, and the importance of non-governmental activities with regard to reducing chemical residues in food.
Health Impact Assessment based on municipal law is performed and written in the sanitary and public health part in the current environmental impact assessment. Residential development projects such as housing site development etc., are not subject to health impact assessment under Article 13 of the Environmental Health Act. However, health impact assessment is conducted partially based on the review that health impact assessment targets which are identified among substances emitted from pollutants nearby industrial complexes should be assessed risk (including carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic) at the stage of the environmental impact assessment consultation. Although residential development projects do not have plans for pollutant emitting facilities that emit hazardous air pollutants, there is a possibility that residents might be affected by pollutants from industrial complex near residential area in the future. In this study, Health impact assessment was conducted to examine the impact on residents in planned areas by analyzing previous residential development projects. We predicted future impact by using the literature survey results on surrounding area (case1) and conducting contribution analysis (case2) and predicting exposure concentration of carcinogenic substances applying Atmospheric Diffusion Model (AERMOD). By this study, we concluded that applying on-site survey, contribution analysis and prediction of exposure concentration by using AERMOD complementarily will be effective to assess the health impact to the receptors by pollutants from industrial complexes near the planned zone.
While the ability to develop nanomaterials and incorporate them into products is advancing rapidly worldwide, understanding of the potential health safety effects of nanomaterials has proceeded at a much slower pace. Since 2008, Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) started an investigation to prepare "Strategic Action Plan" to evaluate safety and nano risk management associated with foods, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics using nano-scale materials. Although there are some studies related to potential risk of nanomaterials, physical-chemical characterization of nanomaterials is not clear yet and these do not offer enough information due to their limitations. Their uncertainties make it impossible to determine whether nanomaterials are actually hazardous to human. According to the above mention, we have some problems to conduct the human exposure risk assessment currently. On the other hand, uncertainty about safety may lead to polarized public debate and to businesses unwillingness for further nanotechnology investigation. Therefore, the criteria and methods to assess possible adverse effects of nanomaterials have been vigorously taken into consideration by many international organizations: the World Health Organization, the Organization for Economic and Commercial Development and the European Commission. The object of this study was to develop risk assessment principles for safety management of future nanoproducts and also to identify areas of research to strengthen risk assessment for nanomaterials. The research roadmaps which were proposed in this study will be helpful to fill up the current gaps in knowledge relevant nano risk assessment.

Vessels sail according to the COLREG to prevent a collision. However, it is difficult to apply COLREG under special situation as heavy traffic, at this time personal skills of the operator are required. In this case, traffic control is required through the maritime traffic monitoring system. Therefore, maritime traffic management is globally implemented by VTS. In this system, VTS of icer uses the VTS system to assess risks and recommends possible safety operation to vessels with radio systems. This study considers that the risk analysis method with AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology from the operator's aspect. In addition, the research explains the Maritime Traffic Safety Monitoring System, Including AR (Augmented Reality) technology to increase vessel control efficiency. This system is able to predict hazards and risk priorities, and it leads to sequential elimination of dangerous situations. Especially, the hazard situations can be analyzed from operator's perspective of each vessel instead of the VTS officer's aspect, which is more practical than the conventional method. Furthermore, the result of analysis enables to comprehend quantitative hazardous areas and support recommended routes to avoid a collision. As a result, I firmly believe that the system will support to prevent a collision in complex traffic waters. In particular, it could be adopted as a collision prevention system for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship, which occupies a significant proportion in Maritime 4th industrial revolution.
Generally, several hydrological characteristics which can be obtained from geographic processing in GIS S/W would be utilized to actual hydrological applications such as landslide stability or drainage analysis. Furthermore, by using practical GIS extension programs, it can be possible that automatic extraction task of those information, which was time-consuming and complex processing, is performed as systematical and automatic processing. In this study, using ArcView GIS S/W and its extensions concerning hydrological processing, some waterflow and surface factors in the area of Yemi sheet scaled 1:50,000 were extracted. Then, assessment of landslide stability, determined by DEM-based variables were carried out in order to investigate practical applicability of extension programs. It is thought that several hydrological factors extracted by this study were significant information to predict field model or hydrological hazardous events. It also reveals that landslide potential is overall stable with stability index mapping and S-A plot, with theoretical basis. This methodology can be applicable to other areas related to hydrological characteristics with measurements in fields.
In today's world, rise in the establishment of social infrastructure resulting from population saturation in large cities has led to more extensive and frequent use of chemical materials on facilities. A result, unexpected and serious accidents, hazards, contingencies and disasters are more prevalent than ever. Such phenomenon calls for more devoted and concerted efforts towards finding ways to reduce the safety hazards that are seen to take place more often than before with the increase in the number of facilities that are prone to bring disaster and hazard coupled with the conventional safety problems that continue to exist even today. In developed countries, such challenge is addressed by various appropriate countermeasures drawn up by local professional committees on industrial facilities, whose members conduct offsite and onsite evaluation un the potential industrial disasters and its seriousness and provide their advice thereof. Against this backdrop, this study aims at identifying a comprehensive safety allowance level (safety acceptable level) when imposing limitation on the development of conventional or new facilities, for the fur pose of establishing a safety allowance level of disastrous and dangerous facilities in Korea. This is done by assessing and applying the level of danger each individual is exposed to in a randomly selected region (disastrous and dangerous areas in Seoul) based on probability of quantitative hazards, as well as simulation and calculation methods which include: i) social disaster evaluation method applying Quantified Risk Assessment of Health & Safety Executive of UK and Matrix of Risk of Evaluated Sources of Hazard; ii) Fault Tree or Event Tree Analysis and etc.
