  • As a non-linear time variant system, the four-quadrant line converter of an electric multiple unit (EMU) was expressed by linear time periodic functions near an operating point and modeled by a steady-state harmonic domain matrix. The components were then combined according to the circuit connection and relations of the feedback control loops to form a complete converter model. The proposed modeling method allows the study of the amplitude of harmonic impedances to explore harmonic coupling. Moreover, the proposed method helps provide a better design for the converter controllers, as well as solves the problem in coordination operation between the EMUs and the AC supply. On-site data from an actual $CRH_2$ high-speed train were used to validate the modeling principles presented in the paper.

  • Electric ballast is widely used to turn on the fluorescent. Electric ballast measure occurrence of harmonic through the actual measurement and it is simulated by modeling equivalent circuit for harmonic analysis. The purpose of this paper is to give an equivalent circuit modeling methodology for the harmonic currents generated by single-phase personal computer loads to evaluate a commercially available series resonant filter for the harmonic currents compensation based on the IEC std 61000-3-2 and IEEE 519 standards for limiting harmonic distortion.

  • This paper illustrates the possibilities of using the program ATP-Draw (Alternative Transient Program) for the modeling of power networks to study power quality problems with highly detailed analyses. The Program ATP-Draw is one of the most widespread and oldest programs. A unique characteristic of this program is its public domain and the existence of forums and study committees where new application cases and modification are presented and shared publicly. In this paper, to study the propagation of harmonics through a power network, a part of an industrial power network was modeled. The network contains different types of electric components, such as transformers, transmission lines, cables and loads, and there is a source of harmonics that injects $3^{rd}$, $5^{th}$, $7^{th}$, $9^{th}$ and $11^{th}$ harmonic currents into the network, causing a distortion of the wave form of the currents and voltages through the power network.

  • With the proliferation of nonlinear loads, high neutral harmonic currents in three-phase four-wire distribution system have been observed. It has been. known that the ground impedance has an effect on the neutral currents of a system which operates with harmonics present. On-site measurements of harmonic currents and voltages according to the fell-of-potential method under case study system were made and the ground impedance modeling using the pattern search method for the harmonic analysis was developed. The ground impedance model obtained by the proposed method was compared with the frequency characteristics by field tests and has shown appropriate results, and would be applicable to evaluate the harmonic and transient response characteristics of the ground system.

  • This paper proposes impedance-based stability analysis of DC-DC boost converters, where a harmonic state space (HSS) modeling technique is used. At first, the HSS model of the boost converter is developed. Then, the closed-loop output impedance of the converter is derived in frequency domain using small signal modeling including frequency couplings, where harmonic transfer function (HTF) matrices of the open-loop output impedance, the duty-to-output, and the voltage controller are involved. The frequency response of the output impedance reveals a resonance frequency at low frequency region and frequency couplings at sidebands of switching frequency which agree with the simulation and experimental result.

  • In this study, we developed RBFN(Radial Basis Function Networks) based load modeling method with harmonic components. The developed method considers harmonic information as well as fundamental frequency and voltage considered as essential factors in conventional method. Thus, the reposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate load characteristics in power lines with harmonics. RBFN has some advantage such as simple structure and rapid computation ability compared with multi-layer perceptorn which is extensively applied for load modeling. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed method has been intensively tested with various dataset acquired under the different frequency and voltage and compared it with conventional methods such as polynomial method, MLPN and RBFN with no harmonic components.
