The a.c. technique is employed to evaluate electrochemical characteristics of Naphthalie-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic acid bisanilide (NTB). The measurements were carried out in dry and pure propionitrle (PCN) and acetonitrile(CAN) at the hanging mercury drop electrode [HMDE). An A.C. phase sensitive detector using computer controlled lock-in amplifier was employed. Primary goal of this report, was to establish on a firm the rare behavior of the phase angle associated with a.c. polarograms of the compound. Although, not an initial goal of this study, the electron transfer rate parameters attending the electroreduction of the compound under investigation were determined. This because the results shed some light on the electrokinetics in aprotic solvent which until recently negligible data were available. Experimental Results and comparison of data obtained are reported. The good precision of the method makes it suitable for studying electrochemical data with unusual behavior at electrodes in non aqueous media.

In order to save hanging labor hours and reduce work intensity for bulk curing of the flue-cured tobacco, and electric hoist was developed. It consists of a pair of square steel frames with side plates and rolling casters to move back and forth on the second tire of bulk barn, and wire rope type lift was attached to the beneath of its top center. The lift driven by DC motor could be controlled by operating switch with one limit switch and control box, and a scissors shaped gripper was deviced to grip tobacco rack to the end of wire rope. As the results of experiments with electric hoist, labor hours for hanging could be saved by 30 to 40% as compared with those in conventional method. With simple and light structure, it was possible for even woman to load the harvested tobacco, and it could be recommended for farmers to use this device with reasonable price.

Determination method of trace thioglycolate has been studied by adsorptive stripping voltammetry. Copper(II)-thioglycolate complex is adsorbed at the hanging mercury drop electrode and stripped during cathodic scan. Electrolyte was used pH 6.5 phosphate and pH 9.5 borate buffer solutions. Optimal conditions were a copper(II) concentration $1{\times}10^{-4}M$, an adsorption accumulation potential -0.2V, an adsorption accumulation time 60 sec and a scan rate 20mV/sec. A detection limit of $1{\times}10^{-9}M$ thioglycolate was obtained. The method was applied to the determination of thioglycolate in cold wave fluids and depilating creams.

We studied possibility of the sowing culture at the bottom after intermediate culture as a method for raising the survival of the Purplish Washington clam, Saxidomus purpuratus. The pearl net ($35cm(W){\times}35cm(B){\times}20cm(H)$) for S. prupuratus spat during the period of intermediate culture (hanging culture) from April to October in 2010. The pearl net (100 inds./net) was installed at two stations (Namhae and Pohang) being about 3-4 m in water depth. After hanging culture, S. prupuratus spat sowed in the bottom of the Gangjin Bay. The survivals (%) of intermediate culture of this species at Namhae station and Pohang station were 73% and 74%, respectively. Daily growth rate of mean shell length and mean weight in Namhae station were higher than those in Pohang station. After sowing at the bottom of the Gangjin Bay, its survival (%) showed 73.98% in January 2011. These results suggested the possibility of the intermediate culture as hanging culture for raising survival rate of S. prupuratus.

We studied effects of aging methods and temperature on the physical, chemical, and amino acid composition of pork belly from Berkshire and Landrace×Yorkshire×Duroc (LYD) swine. Pork belly samples were assigned randomly to breed groups (Berkshire and LYD), aging temperature groups (0℃ and 9℃), and aging method groups. One samples of vacuum-packaged hanging pork bellies were hung in a refrigerated cooler with 83±2.0% humidity, while the other samples were immersed in a 3.5% salt solution in a vacuum package and subsequently stored in the same cooler for 2 weeks. LYD pork had lower pH and purge loss and higher lightness values than those of Berkshire pork (p<0.05). Moreover, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and hardness values of LYD pork were lower than those of Berkshire pork after aging (p<0.05). Berkshire pork had a higher level of flavorful amino acids than LYD pork did during aging (p<0.05). Bellies aged at elevated temperatures for two weeks had higher volatile basic nitrogen. However, significantly higher percentages of flavorful and sweet taste amino acids were observed in bellies aged at 9℃ compared to those aged at 0℃ for 2 weeks. Moisture content was higher in immersed samples than hanging samples after two weeks of aging (p<0.05). Hanging pork bellies exhibited higher texture profiles than immersed pork bellies at two weeks (p<0.05). We concluded that breeds, aging temperature, and methods affected most quality attributes of pork belly.

Reduced glutathione (GSH) plays a vital role in the metabolism of all cells. Glutathions, a tripeptide cowfosed of glutamic acid, cysteane, and gtycina is synthesized by two synthesized reutions. The first is catalyzed by Y-glutamylcysteine synthetase (GSH-I) and the second by glutathione synthetase (GSH-ll). The glutathione biosynthetic pathway of E. coziis mainly controlled by nonallosteric feedback inhibition of GHS-I by GSH. Determination of the three-dimensional structure of GSH-I by X-ray crystallography is necessary in order to understand the structure-function relationship at the molecular level. As the (irst step toward its structure determination, crystallization of 5. coli V-glutamylcystfine synthetase (GSH-I) has been achived using the hanging drop vapor diffusion method and capillaw method. Crystals of GSH-I have been grown from ammonium sulfate solution. The crystals grew at room temperature within 10 days to dimensions of 0.2 m x 0.2 m x 0.2 ml by hanging drop vapor diffusion method and diffracted to about 4 A resolution using synchrotron X-rays. Another crystal, grown by the capillary method to dimensions of 0.25 mm x 0.25 mm x 0.3 mm within 40 days, diffracted to about 4 A resolution using X-rays from a rotating anode.

A helminth glutathione S-transfease, 26 kDa isozyme from Clonorchis sinensis was cocrystallized with inhibitors by the hanging-drop method with monomethylether 550 as a precipitant. The crystals, grown in the presence of S-methylglutathione or trans-4-phenyl-3-buten-2-one, suitable for X-ray analysis, belong to the hexagonal space group P6₂(or P6₄), with unit cell parameters a= b= 97.6Å, c=117.4Å. X-ray diffraction data were collected with 2.5Å resolution.

We investigate long-term motions of the cable when cable has different types of periodic forcing term. Various different types of solutions are presented by using the 2nd order Runge-Kutta method under various initial conditions. There appeared to be small- and large-amplitude solutions which have different nodal structure.

Introduction : Suicide in Korea has increased to 31.2 persons per 100,000 population, the world's highest level. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the world, but in Korea, it is 4th leading cause of death. Therefore suicide is a serious problem in Korea. Many suicide prevention strategies have been proposed. Despite efforts to prevent suicides in Korea, a steady increases in the number of suicides has been brought into question the effectiveness of suicide prevention activities in Korea. Methods : Strategy of restricting suicide methods in many countries was reviewed. Systematic approach to restrict suicidal methods in Korea is proposed. Results : Restricting suicide methods is one of the effective suicide prevention strategies employed in the UK and other countries. Since many suicides occur impulsively, suicide attempt lethality is an important factor in determining the rate of deaths in suicidal attempts. Physical restriction of suicide methods is important in preventing suicide, but restriction of cognitive access to information about suicide and suicide method is more important in preventing suicide. In particular hanging is one of the most common methods of suicides in Korea, it is crucial to develop strategies to prevent suicide by hanging cognitively. Also information about suicide should be properly controlled. To do this, suicide news reporting guidelines should be observed, and website makers whose websites provoke thoughts about suicide should be more strictly sanctioned. Conclusion : Restricting suicide methods along with other suicide prevention plans may be the most effective way to prevent suicide in Korea.
