Gel polymer electrolyte membranes were prepared from blends of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and poly (acrylic acid) (PAA), by solution-cast technique. The PAA content in the blend varied from 30 to 80 wt%. With the gel polymer electrolyte membranes, Zn air batteries were fabricated. The gel polymer electrolyte membranes were characterized by means of stress-strain test, impedance test. The Zn air batteries were tested by current interrupt method and galvanostatic discharge method. The tensile strength and tensile modulus decreased with increasing PAA content in the gel polymer electrolyte membrane. On the other hand, the ionic conductivity increased with increasing PAA content. The effect of ionic conductivity trend of the gel polymer electrolyte membrane in the Zn air battery was confirmed through current interrupt method and galvanostatic discharge method experiments. The battery with higher PAA content gel polymer electrolyte membrane showed lower IR drop and higher discharge capacity.
The purpose of this study was designed to find out the effectiveness of vertebral segment instability, muscle fatigue response on lumbar spine after apply lumbosacral stabilization exercise program to 4 patients with chronic low back pain and for 12 weeks. In this study, the lumbar spine motion with blind by MedX test machine and the difference of instability to lumbar vertebra segments in flexion, extension test of standing position and spinal load test(Matthiass Test) by Spinal Mouse. The stabilization exercise program was applied 2 times a week for 12 weeks in hospital and 2 times a day for 20 minutes at home. The results of the present study were as follows: 1. Instability test of lumbar vertebra segment is 2 type differential angle test between vertebrae segment and loading test of spine(matthiass) by Spinal Mouse. It appeared to improve stability of segments in sagittal plane after program. So lumbar spine curve increased lordosis toward anterior and was improved of the lumbar spine flexibility in flexion and extension. Specially, in matthiass test, ( - ) value was increased between lumbar vertebra segment when was the load on spine. And so stability improved after program. 2. Fatigue response test(FRT) results, in male, was raised muscle fatigue rate during increase weight, on the other hand female appeared lower than male. As a results, lumbosacral stabilization exercise was aided to improvement of lumbar spine vertebra segments stabilization. Spine instability patients will have a risk when in lifting a load or working with slight flexion posture during the daily of living life and it is probably to increase recurrence rate. Thus, not only lumbar extension muscle strength but also stability of vertebra segments in lumbar spine may be very important.
A simple and efficient protocol was developed for culturing Cu-tolerant and Cu-accumulating plants via pre-adaptation to Cu during plant tissue culture. We induced multiple shoots from begonia (Begonia evansiana Andr.) leaf explants on MS medium supplemented with naphtaieneacetic acid and benzyladenine. After 3 months, small plantlets were transferred to MS medium supplemented with $100{\mu}M\;CuCl_2$ for pre-adaptation to Cu and cultured for 5 months. Then, these plantlets were individually planted in pots containing artificial soil. An additional 500 mg of Cu dissolved in 1/4 strength MS solution was applied to each pot during irrigation over the course of 2 months. We planted pre-adapted and control begonias in soil from the II-Kwang Mine, an abandoned Cu mine in Pusan, Korea, to examine their ability to tolerate and accumulate Cu for phytore-mediation. Pre-adapted begonias accumulated $1,200{\mu}g$ Cu/g dry root tissue over the course of 45 days. On the other hand, non-Cu-adapted controls accumulated only $85{\mu}g$ Cu/g dry root tissue. To enhance Cu extraction, chelating agents, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA)-dipotassiun and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (PDA), were applied. While the chelating agents did not enhance accumulation of Cu in the roots of control begonias, EDTA application increased the level of Cu in the roots of pre-adapted begonias twofold (to $2,500{\mu}g$ Cu/g dry root tissue). Because pre-adapted begonias accumulated a large amount of Cu, mainly in their roots, they could be used for phytostabilization of Cu-contaminated soils. In addition, as a flowering plant, begonias can be used to create aesthetically pleasing remediation sites.
Carbonate sands can be crushed under low confining pressure to achieve high compressibility. So particle crushing has significant influence on characteristics of strength and deformation. Trial embankment and hydrotest are conducted on Sabkha layer, consisting of carbonate sand to build tank structure. In this paper the settlement behavior was analyzed from each test. Particle crushing happened from 80 to 170kPa stress under compression test, and calcium was detected from chemical test. The test result came out Sabkha soil was very weak and easy to be crushing. About trial embankment test, particle crushing was not happen, and then extinction of pore water pressure and settlements were finished just during 2 days. On the other hand, the long-term settlement was happened in hydrotest. So the two test results did not correspond to each other. If loading stress is higher than yielding stress, instant settlement and secondary compression settlement are happened as a result of the particle crushing.

The purpose of this study is to estimate basic mechanical properties of alkali-activated concretes based on GGBS(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag). In this study, various mix ratios of alkali activated concretes based on sodium silicate and GGBS were set to evaluate concrete's compressive strengths and strains on the basis of results of existing alkali-activated cements and preliminary concrete tests, which were already performed by authors [Ref. 1]. Compressive strengths of concretes of ages 1, 3, 7, 28, 56 and 91 days were tested and investigated, respectively, and at early ages (< 7days) alkali-activated slag concrete (AASC) showed a high strength development, compared to that of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). A compressive strengths of AASC at age-3days range between 18 and 24 MPa, while those of OPC range 12 and 15 MPa. The stress-strain curve after maximum stress, on the other hand, is approximately reached at a compressive strain between 0.002 and 0.0025, which mechanical property is very similar to that of OPC.
It is very important to design and construct slopes safely because damage cases are increasing due to slope failure. Recently, Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) based programs are commonly used for slope designs. Though LEM can give factors of safety through simple calculation, it has a disadvantage that the sliding surface should be assumed in advance. On the other hand, the use of Finite Difference Method (FDM) is increasing since the factor of safety can be easily estimated by using shear strength reduction technique. Therefore the purpose of this study is to present a reasonable slope design methodology by comparing the two commonly used analysis approaches; LEM and FDM. To this end, the reinforcement effects of the two methods were compared in terms of the support pattern of soil nailing reinforced in the section where plane failure is anticipated. As a result, the reinforcement effects by nail angle and nail spacing turned out to be equal. Also it was found that the factor of safety increased in LEM, but not changed in FDM when the nail length increased.

The cdma2000 mobile network covers a wide area but its characteristics are high cost and low bandwidth. On the other hand, WLAN covers a small area like a hot spot area but its characteristics are large bandwidth and low cost. Thus we can provide efficient services when we employ an integration network between WLAN and cdma2000 mobile networks. In this paper, we propose an integration scheme between WLAN and cdma2000 mobile networks. In addition, we design and implement the dual mode terminal which receives seamless data services in the integrated network. The proposed dual mode terminal manages connections by monitoring the signal strength of WLAN and selecting a proper network. We validate the functions through the implementation of VOD and show the effectiveness through the performance measurement.

One of the basic problems in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is the localization of the sensor nodes based on the known location of numerous anchor nodes. WSNs generally consist of a large number of sensor nodes and recording the location of each sensor nodes becomes a difficult task. On the other hand, based on the application environment, the nodes may be subject to mobility and their location changes with time. Therefore, a scheme that will autonomously estimate or calculate the position of the sensor nodes is desirable. This paper presents an intelligent localization scheme, which is an artificial neural network (ANN) based localization scheme used to estimate the position of the unknown nodes. In the proposed method, three anchors nodes are used. The mobile or deployed sensor nodes request a beacon from the anchor nodes and utilizes the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of the beacons received. The RSSI values vary depending on the distance between the mobile and the anchor nodes. The three RSSI values are used as the input to the ANN in order to estimate the location of the sensor nodes. A feed-forward artificial neural network with back propagation method for training has been employed. An average Euclidian distance error of 0.70 m has been achieved using a ANN having 3 inputs, two hidden layers, and two outputs (x and y coordinates of the position).
The design criteria and the corresponding performance levels characterize the response of extended stiffened end-plate beam-to-column joints. In order to guarantee a ductile behavior, hierarchy criteria should be adopted to enforce the plastic deformations in the ductile components of the joint. However, the effectiveness of thesecriteria can be impaired if the actual resistance of the end-plate material largely differs from the design value due to the potential activation of brittle failure modes of the bolt rows (e.g., occurrence of failure mode 3 in the place of mode 1 per bolt row). Also the number and the position of bolt rows directly affect the joint response. The presence of a bolt row in the center of the connection does not improve the strength of the joint under both gravity, wind and seismic loading, but it can modify the damage pattern of ductile connections, reducing the gap opening between the end-plate and the column face. On the other hand, the presence of a central bolt row can influence the capacity of the joint to resist the catenary actions developing under a column loss scenario, thus improving the joint robustness. Aiming at investigating the influence of these features on both the cyclic behavior and the response under column loss, a wide range of finite element analyses (FEAs) were performed and the main results are described and discussed in this paper.
The intention of this study is to investigate the properties of polymer blend, NBR/PVC vulcanizates and blending procedures such as roll-mixing temperatures and sequences for polymer blending of NBR and PVC(resin type). The results obtained are as follows: 1. The roll temperature applied for polymer blending is around $150^{\circ}C$. At this temperature region, the degradation of rubber stock, which may be caused by heat, can be minimized and mill processing in practical application in industries can also be facilitated. 2. It is obviously necessary that a small amount of plasticizers should be added to the stock for improving processibility of roll mixing and physical properties. 3. On roll-mixing sequence, it is more effective that PVC compounded with plasticizer is added to NBR milled on hot roll. 4. The vulcanizates of the blends with different degree of polymerization of PVC ale similar to one another in properties. 5. NBR/PVC(70/30) blends shows the better physical characters than eve,-made foreign latex blend except abrasion-resistance. 6. As PVC addition ratio is increased, the physical properties such as resistance to ozone, tear, heat and oil and tensile strength, modulus, hardness have also improved, on the other hand, tension set and rebound character decreased. 7. The curve of ultimate elongation have point of inflection at the ratio of $30\sim40$ part of PVC. 8. While CR is blended, the physical properties such as brittle point, rebound and resistance to oil in high temperature have improved. 9. Polymer blend of NBR and domestic PVC is applied for the industrial utility such as rubber sole and heel, electric wire cover and oil-resistant packing, coating and gasket, printing roll, film for food packing etc.
