  • Half Cell Potential (HPC) technique has been widely adopted for its quantitative evaluation of corrosion possibility. In this study, RC specimens with three different cover depths (10mm, 30mm, and 60mm) and w/c ratios (0.35, 0.55, and 0.70) are prepared and accelerated salt spray test (SST) is performed for 45 days. Steel corrosion occurs in the specimens with 0.55 of w/c and 10mm of cover depth. In the case of 0.70 of w/c and 30mm of cover depth, steel corrosion is also monitored. Considering the effect of cover depth and w/c ratio, HCP evaluation equation is proposed and the condition which can control steel corrosion is obtained. Furthermore, anti-corrosive conditions containing w/c ratio and cover depth are analyzed through Life 365 program and the conditions are compared with the results from this study.

  • In this paper, we found surface shapes are affected by several parameters of RIE, such as RF power, pressure, temp, and process times. The reflectance of pyramid and half sphere structures show differences among shapes, size, height, and depth of those structures. We made about $1{\mu}m$ pyramid and half sphere shapes of silicon surface with RIE. For comparing the reflectance, pyramid and half sphere structures are fabricated with same height. Pyramid structure cell shows higher cell efficiency of 12.5% by 1.1% than one of half sphere structure of 11.4%. The light absorption is more increased through the pyramid structure than half sphere structure.

  • Today the number of the disabled people with a spinal cord injury is increasing by the acquired factor. The purpose of the study is to furnish basic data for the study of satisfactory clothing construction data by considering the physical variation by the time passed the since the injury. Also the study includes the actual measuring of the disabled men with spinal cord injuries which is compared with the data of the 5th national anthropometric survey of Korea and makes it possible to grasp the distinguished physical feature of the disabled men with the spinal cord injury. As a result, first, the measured data are smaller than those of the 5th national anthropometric survey of Korea in the items of height and length of the upper half of the body related to stature. Second, the measured data are bigger than those of the 5th national anthropometric survey of Korea in the items of breadth, depth and circumference of the upper half of the body related to the exercise. Third, there are differences in the items of depth of the lower half of the body, breadth and circumference in the analysis of the time passed since the injury.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the retentive force of cast half round circumferential clasps, cast round circumferential clasps and wrought wire clasps on three different depths of undercut(10G,20G.30G), and to determine the proper amount of undercut for cast round circumferential clasp. Three different lower second premolar crowns were cast and each of clasp was made. Each of clasp affixed to the different types of clasp. Their retentive forces were measured with universal testing machine. The results were as follows : 1. When the depth of undercut was same, the greatest retentive force was exerted by cast half round circumferential clasp, followed by cast round - 33 - circumferential clasp and wrought wire clasp. 2. The degree of variation amount of retentive force according to depth of undercut was greatest for cast round circumferential clasp. 3. Not only elastic deformation but also permanent deformation of the retentive arm was observed after insertion and removal of the clasp. The results of this study show that the retentive force of cast round circumferential clasp falls between those of cast half round circumferential clasp and wrought wire clasp, and suggest that a 20G undercut is suitable for ensuring an appropriate degree of the retentive force.

  • There is high possibility of steel corrosion on the reinforced concrete exposed to marine environment by chloride ion penetration. And it show a big difference of concrete durability under conditions of splash zone, tidal zone, and immersion zone. Therefore, in this paper, half-cell potential and chloride ion penetration depth was measured to evaluate the durability of slag concrete by marine exposure experiment. As a result, SC70 specimen showed no steel corrosion, regardless of the marine exposed conditions. Also, a deterrent effect on chloride ion penetration by replacement of slag in tidal zone and immersion zone could be confirmed.

  • Many depth estimation techniques for magnetic exploration, such as the slope methods, graphica1 methods, spectral analysis, and Fourier ana1ysis have been published. Nevertheless, it appears that the half-slope method of Peters(1949)and the maximum-slop method of Vacquier et. al. (1951)are more popular and widely used by geophysicists in the hydrocarbon exploration industry. The slope methods are not only simpler and easier to use but are also genera1ly reliable. The spectral method is fast, effective, and powerful in the determination of an average depth. The often unreliable results produced from spectral techniques are attributed to their application to isolated magnetic anomaly cases. The reliability and limitations associated with the method are given in order to minimize problems and increase accuracy in the application of the method.

  • The effect of various parameters on the propagation of surface waves in electro-magneto thermoelastic orthotropic granular non-homogeneous medium subjected to gravity and initial compression has been studied. All material coefficients are obeyed the same exponent-law dependence on the depth of the granular elastic half space. Some special cases investigated by earlier researchers have also been deduced. Dispersion curves are computed numerically and presented graphically.

  • Because of esophageal cancer has the long length of the lesion and also inhomogeneous in depth. So, the radiation dose distribution was inhomogeneous in radiation therapy. To overcomes the dose distribution uniformity using half beam method. Patient's CT image was used radiation treatment planning. We used two planning methods that one is the using normal beam and another is using half beam. Than comparing the two radiotherapy planning using target coverage, dose volume histogram, conformity index, homogeneity index and normal tissues - heart, spinal cord, lung -. In results, Treatment planning using half beam is little more than normal beam in target coverage, dose volume histogram, conformity index, homogeneity index and normal tissues covering. However, If the patient is not correct position patients may arise a side effect. Thus, the using in Half beam involving the geometrically exact under lung cancer is considered to advantage.

  • Submarine pipelines encounter significant wave forces in shallow coastal waters due to the action of waves. In order to reduce such forces (also to protect the pipe against anchors and dropped objects) they are buried below the seabed. The wave force variation due to burial depends on the engineering characteristics of the sub soil like hydraulic conductivity and porosity, apart from the design environmental conditions. For a given wave condition, in certain type of soil, the wave force can reduce drastically with increased burial and in certain other type of soil, it may not. It is hence essential to understand how the wave forces vary in soils of different hydraulic conductivity. Based on physical model study, the wave forces on the buried pipeline model is assessed for a wide range of wave conditions, for different burial depths and for four types of cohesion-less soils, covering hydraulic conductivity in the range of 0.286 to 1.84 mm/s. It is found that for all the four soil types, the horizontal wave force reduces with increase in depth of burial, whereas the vertical force is high for half buried condition. Among the soils, well graded one is better for half buried case, since the least vertical force is experienced for this situation. It is found that uniformly graded and low hydraulic conductivity soil attracts the maximum vertical force for half buried case. A case study analysis is carried out and is reported. The results of this study are useful for submarine buried pipeline design.

  • In this study, the correlation between Half Cell Potential(HCP) and the corrosion influencing factors was analyzed with considering three levels of water-cement ratio, the concentration of chloride solution, and cover depth. As a result of long-term corrosion monitoring, HCP behavior was close to the critical corrosion potential(-350 mV) in all water-cement ratios in the case of 3.5 % and 7.0 % chloride concentration. Regarding the passed charge test in 548 curing days, the passed charge results were improved to 'Moderate' grade. Multiple regression analysis was performed to evaluate the correlation between corrosion influencing factors and HCP, and it was evaluated that the effects of influencing factors to HCP were in the order of chloride concentration, water-cement ratio, and cover depth. In the case of the relationship between HCP and the passed charge, the coefficient of determination showed a high level of 0.9, which yielded a close correlation between the passed charge and HCP.
