Experimental Cyclic Behavior of Precast Hybrid Beam-Column Connections with Welded Components

  • Post-earthquake observations revealed that seismic performance of beam-column connections in precast concrete structures affect the overall response extensively. Seismic design of precast reinforced concrete structures requires improved beam-column connections to transfer reversed load effects between structural elements. In Turkey, hybrid beam-column connections with welded components have been applied extensively in precast concrete industry for decades. Beam bottom longitudinal rebars are welded to beam end plates while top longitudinal rebars are placed to designated gaps in joint panels before casting of topping concrete in this type of connections. The paper presents the major findings of an experimental test programme including one monolithic and five precast hybrid half scale specimens representing interior beam-column connections of a moment frame of high ductility level. The required welding area between beam bottom longitudinal rebars and beam-end plates were calculated based on welding coefficients considered as a test parameter. It is observed that the maximum strain developed in the beam bottom flexural reinforcement plays an important role in the overall behavior of the connections. Two additional specimens which include unbonded lengths on the longitudinal rebars to reduce that strain demands were also tested. Strength, stiffness and energy dissipation characteristics of test specimens were investigated with respect to test variables. Seismic performances of test specimens were evaluated by obtaining damage indices.

  • 이 연구에서는 원형 개구부가 있는 전단지배 하이브리드 강재 연결보의 내진성능을 평가하기 위해 탑-시트 앵글이 있는 실험체 3개(SCB1, SCB2, SCB3)와 앵글이 없는 실험체 1개 (SCB4) 등 총 4개의 강재 연결보 시스템에 대한 반복가력 실험이 수행되었다. 실험변수는 웨브 개구부의 크기, 즉 전단강도비이다. SCB1, SCB2, SCB3, 그리고 SCB4 실험체의 전단강도비(웨브 개구부 크기)는 0.34(300mm), 0.49(268mm), 0.78(200mm), 그리고 0.34(300mm)이다. 실험결과, 제안된 연결보 시스템은 우수한 변형능력과 강성을 보여주었다. 실험연구를 통해 하이브리드 강재 연결보 시스템에 적용가능한 설계전단강도를 제안하였다. 연결보의 전단강도가 소성전단강도의 50% 이하일 때 핀칭이 완화되는 것으로 나타났으며, 이로 인해 내진 성능이 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 핀칭을 최소화하고, 내진성능을 향상시키기 위해서는 연결보 구조설계 시 연결보의 전단강도를 50% 이상 저감시키는 방안도 고려될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Investigation About Quality Control of General X-ray System

  • This test is for checking investigation about quality control of general X-ray system in clinic and hospital. We compared general X-ray system of clinic and hospital which are selected freely in the metropolitan area using PMX-III and carried out quality control. Carried out Kilovoltage test, mR/mAs output test, Light filed/Beam alignment test, Half value layer test. Most of test result are appeared that failure rates of clinic is higher than hospital one. Therefore, we should lower failure rates through regular quality control and make environment which can get high quality image.

  • An experimental investigation was conducted to study the behavior of high-strength RC wide beam-column joints with slab subjected to reversed cyclic loads under constant axial load. Six half scale interior wide beam-column assemblies representing a portion of a frame subjected to simulated seismic loading were tested, including three specimens without slab and three specimens with slab. The primary variables were compressive strength of concrete($f_ck$=285, 460kgf/$cm^2$), the ratio of the column-to-beam flexural capacity($M_r$=$\Sigma M_c / \Sigma M_b$ ; 0.77 -2.26), extended length of the column concrete($l_d$ ; 0, 12.5, 30cm), ratio of the column-to-beam width(b/H ; 1.54, 1.67). Test results are shown that (1) the behavior of specimen using high-strength concrete satisfied for required minimum ductile capacity according to increase the compressive strength, (2) the current design code and practice for interior joints(type 2) are apply to the wide beam-high strength concrete column.

진동감쇠특성 시험법 비교 (Comparison of Test Methods for Vibration Damping Properties)

  • There are many standard methods for measuring vibration damping properties of the beam type material. Among them, three standards ASTM E 756, ISO 6721 and JIS G 0602, are compared. Loss factor and Young's modulus of the steel beam are evaluated by using five different methods and their results are compared. Logarithmic decay method and half-power bandwidth method are used to calculate the loss factor. It was observed that Young’s modulus is agree well, but loss factors are different from test to test. So the same test method must be applied to measure damping properties.

Study on the progressive collapse resistance of CP-FBSP connections in L-CFST frame structure

  • When the vertical load-bearing members in high-rise structures fail locally, the beam-column joints play an important role in the redistribution of the internal forces. In this paper, a static laboratory test of three full-scale flush flange beam-reinforced connections with side and cover plates (CP-FBSP connection) with double half-span steel beams and single L-shaped columns composed of concrete-filled steel tubes (L-CFST columns) was conducted. The influence of the side plate width and cover plate thickness on the progressive collapse resistance of the substructure was thoroughly analyzed. The failure mode, vertical force-displacement curves, strain variation, reaction force of the pin support and development of internal force in the section with the assumed plastic hinge were discussed. Then, through the verified finite element model, the corresponding analyses of the thickness and length of the side plates, the connecting length between the steel beam flange and cover plate, and the vertical-force eccentricity were carried out. The results show that the failure of all the specimens occurred through the cracking of the beam flange or the cover plate, and the beam chord rotations measured by the test were all greater than 0.085 rad. Increasing the length, thickness and width of the side plates slightly reduced the progressive collapse resistance of the substructures. The vertical-force eccentricity along the beam length reduced the progressive collapse resistance of the substructure. An increase in the connecting length between the beam flange and cover plate can significantly improve the progressive collapse resistance of substructures.

  • Cyclic loading tests were carried out on six half-scale reinforced concrete beam-column subassemblages designed to the current Chinese Seismic Design Code for Buildings. The deformation behavior and restoring force characteristics of the subassemblages were studied. Emphasis was directed on their seismic behavior and deformation components. Based on test data and a simplified analysis model of the global and local deformation, the contribution of the deformation components due to beam flexure, column flexure, joint shear, and slippage of longitudinal reinforcement in the joint to the global deformation of subassemblages at different displacement amplitudes of cyclic loading was investigated.

프리캐스트 콘크리트 보-기둥 접합부의 이력거동 및 내진성능 (Hysteretic Behavior and Seismic Resistant Capacity of Precast Concrete Beam-to-Column Connections)

  • 프리캐스트 콘크리트 골조에서 실물크기의 보-기둥 접합부 실험체 5개를 대상으로 반복가력 실험을 수행하였다. 지진하중을 받는 골조를 대상으로 1개의 일체식 실험체와 4개의 프리캐스트 실험체를 포함하여 5개의 1/2스케일의 내부 보-기둥 접합부를 대상으로 하였다.주요 변수는 보의 구조적 연속성을 확보하기 위한 접합부의 형태와 접합부의 특별한 보강형태(섬유콘크리트와 횡보강근)로 하였다. 실험체는 강기둥-약보 개념에 따라 설계하였다. 보 철근은 접합부에 큰 비탄성 전단력이 작용할 경우 보에 소성힌지가 발생하도록 계획하였다. 접합부의 성능평가는 접합부의 강도, 강성, 에너지 소산능력과 층간변위비로 평가하였다. 실험결과 실험체의 파괴는 보의 소성힌지부에서 파괴되었다. 보-기둥 접합부의 성능은 대체적으로 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 접합부의 강도는 일체식 RC 구조의 비해 1.15배 정도 향상되었다. 층간변위 3.5%때의 강도에서 실험체는 ECC의 인장변형능력과 철골연결재의 항복에 의해 연성거동 하였다.

보 플랜지 절취형 (RBS) 철골 모멘트 접합부의 균형패널존 강도 (A Balanced Panel Zone Strength Criterion for Reduced Beam Section Steel Moment Connections)

  • 본 연구에서는 보 플랜지 절취형 (Reduced Beam Section, RBS) 철골모멘트접합부의 실험결과를 기초로 패널존의 적정강도를 제시하고자 하였다. RBS 충분한 실험자료가 보고 되어 있음에도 불구하고, 패널존의 적정강도 범위가 아직 제시된 바가 없다. 본 연구 및 다른 연구자의 실험결과에 의할 때, 패널존은 보 플랜지 그루브 용접부에 유해한 영향을 미치지 않고 0.01 radian의 소성회전각을 무난하게 발휘할 수 있음이 확인되었다. 또한 이 정도 크기의 패널존 소성변형을 허용하면 강한 패널존 시험체에 비해 횡비틀림 좌굴의 진폭이 절반 정도로 감소하였다. 이러한 실험적 관측을 토대로 RBS접합부의 소성변형능력을 향상시킴과 동시에 보의 소성힌지에 발생하는 좌굴의 크기를 줄일 수 있는 균형 패널존에 대한 강도 기준을 제안하였다.

  • Different test methods were used to measure and compare the loss factor of a steel beam. They are free vibration logarithmic decay method, half-power bandwidth method using narrow-band analysis, wide-band analysis method with inverse FFT. In these tests, specimens are clamped at one end. Free vibration method and half-power bandwidth method gave good results. Effect of vibration pick-ups were tested. We also tried center excitation method but could not obtain loss factor.
