  • In this paper we study a $C^{*}$-dynamical system (A, G, .alpha.) where A is a UHF-algebra, G is a finite abelian group and .alpha. is a *-automorphic action of product type of G on A. In [2], A. Kishimoto considered the case G= $Z_{n}$, the cyclic group of order n and investigated a condition in order that the fixed point algebra $A^{\alpha}$ of A under the action .alpha. is UHF. In later N.J. Munch studied extremal tracial states on $A^{\alpha}$ by employing the method of A. Kishimoto [3], where G is a finite abelian group. Generally speaking, when G is compact (not necessarily discrete and abelian), $A^{\alpha}$ is an AF-algebra and its ideal structure was well analysed by N. Riedel [4]. Here we obtain some conditions for $A^{\alpha}$ to be UHF, where G is a finite abelian group, which is an extension of the result of A. Kishimoto.oto.

  • Let m be any positive integer, R be a ring with identity, $M_m(R)$ be the matrix ring of all m by m matrices eve. R and $G_m(R)$ be the multiplicative group of all n by n nonsingular matrices in $M_m(R)$. In this pape., the following are investigated: (1) for any pairwise coprime ideals ${I_1,\;I_2,\;...,\;I_n}$ in a ring R, $M_m(R/(I_1{\cap}I_2{\cap}...{\cap}I_n))$ is isomorphic to $M_m(R/I_1){\times}M_m(R/I_2){\times}...{\times}M_m(R/I_n);$ and $G_m(R/I_1){\cap}I_2{\cap}...{\cap}I_n))$ is isomorphic to $G_m(R/I_1){\times}G_m(R/I_2){\times}...{\times}G_m(R/I_n);$ (2) In particular, if R is a finite ring with identity, then the order of $G_m(R)$ can be computed.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of age and of the dietary protein sources & levels on urinary calcium excretion and bone metabolism in the rats. Two experiments were conducted . In experiment U, 6& 20 weeks old rats were fed 8 & 36%, casein & ffish protein diet for 5 weeks . In experiment II, 16& 52 weeks old rats were fed 40 % protein diets, protein sources were casein, fish and gluten. High-protein diet group excreted more caldium in urine than low-protein group. Urinary calcium excretion was affected by the sources of protein ; gluten group excreted more Ca, followed by fish & casein group. Total bone Ca & Ca proportion in ash were higher in 20 weeks old rats than 6 weeks old rats, but 16 & 52 weeks old rats showed no differences. bone composition showed that water proportion was high and ash proportion was low in 6 weeks old rats than in 20 weeks old rats. However, these tendencies were not observed between 16 weeks and 52 weeks old rats. And bone composition was affected by protein sources ; higher ash proportions were noted in one order of casein, fish, and gluten water proportion were lower in one same order.

  • This paper describes a PID controller for an attraction type magnetic levitation system considering $H^{\infty}$ performance. PID controllers are a kind of fixed structure reduced order controllers. Using change of variables a reduced order control problem can be recast into a static output feedback control problem and can be solved efficiently by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) method. In this paper, cone complementarity method is adopted and the simulation shows good results.

  • This study intends to examine the effects of motivational scaffolding in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL). This study was focused on the following two questions. Do motivational scaffolding lead to positive effects on the process in CSCL? Do motivational scaffolding lead to positive effects on the outcome in CSCL? In order to identify strategies for motivational scaffolding, we reviewed the "Flow Theory." Based on literature reviews, principles and strategies were drawn for the motivational scaffolding. An experimental study was conducted in order to investigate the effects of motivational scaffolding on process and outcome. In this study, 87 undergraduate students were divided into two different groups (control group, experimental group). Motivational scaffolding was provided to experimental group. The process was analyzed by examining learners' satisfaction in process. The outcome was analyzed by examining learners' satisfaction in product, group coherence, and quality of product. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant. From these results, we concluded that motivational scaffolding led to positive effects on process and outcome in CSCL environment.

  • In case that group communication protocols assume every process is interested in all events occurring in a large scale group, the events multicasting to a subset of a large process group, such as a sensor network, potentially varying for every event based on their interests might lead to very high communication overhead on each individual process. Moreover, despite the importance of both guaranteeing message delivery order and supporting overlapped group using gossip based group communication for multicasting in sensor or P2P networks, there exist little research works on development of gossip-based protocols to satisfy all these requirements. In this paper, we present a new gossip-based causal message order guaranteeing multicast protocol based on local views and delegates representing subgroups and fully utilizing multi-group features to improve scalability. In the proposed protocol, the message delivery order in overlapped groups has been guaranteed consistently by all corresponding members of the groups including delegates. Therefore, these features of the proposed protocol might be significantly scalable rather than those of the protocols guaranteeing atomic order dependencies between multicast messages by hierarchical membership list of dedicated groups like traditional committee protocols and much stronger rather than fully decentralized protocols guaranteeing dependencies between multicast messages based on only local views. And the proposed protocol is a hybrid approach improving the inherent scalability of multicast nature by gossip-based technique in all communications.

  • Objectives: This study was carried out to observe and compare the effects of Pinellia ternata, Zingiber officinale and Sobanhatang on the reflux esophagitis induced by gastric fundus and pylorus ligation in mice with esomeprazole. Methods: Antioxidant effects were measured by DPPH radical scavenging activity at four different concentration of 0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and $1.0mg/102{\mu}{\ell}$. Zingiber officinale water extract(ZE), Pinellia ternata water extract(PE) and Sobanhatang water extract(SBE) and esomeprazole were treated orally for 14 days before gatric fundus and pylorus ligation. In the histochemistry, changes in suface mucous cells, muscle tissue and connective tissue in gastro esophageal junction(GEJ) and mast cell on the esophageal mucosa were observed. The change of Hemo oxygenase(HO)-1, ghrelin, gastrin and substance P in gastric body tissue were measured by immunohistochemistry. Results: DPPH radical scavenging activity exhibited concentration dependently increases in ZE, PE, SBE. ZE was significantly higher at all concentrations than PE. The gastric surface mucous cells were more in the treated group than in the reflux esophagitis elicited group(GE) in the order of PE, SBE, ZE and esomeprazole treateded group(PT, SBT, ZT, ET). Lower esophageal sphincter muscle damage and intercellular space in the GEJ were less in the treated group than GE. In the esophageal mucosa, the mast cell distribution and the migration of inflammatory cells were lower in the treateded troup than GE in order to ZT, SBT, PT and ET. The antioxidative enzyme, HO-1 was more in the order of ZT, SBT, control group, PT, ET than in GE. ZT was significantly higher than the other groups and SBT was significantly higher than ET. Ghrelin was found to be higher in ZT, ET, SBT and PT than in GE, and ZT was significantly higher than all other groups except ET. Gastrin showed the highest positivity in GE, and was lower in the order of ET, ZT, SBT, PT, and control group. Substance P was the highest in GE, and was lower in the order of ET, ZT, SBT, PT and control group, and PT were significantly lower than ET. Conclusion: ZT, PT and SBT showed superior antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and mucosal protective effects on mouse reflux esophagitis as compared with ET. In particular, ZE was more effective in antioxidant and gastric motility enhancement, while PE was more effective in mucosal protection and anti-inflammatory effects. Sobanhatang is expected to be effective treatment because it has advantages of both drugs and reduces toxicity.
