Three-Dimensional Positioning Using EROS A Stereo Pairs

  • This paper investigates the accuracy of three-dimensional positioning for EROS A stereo pairs when different numbers of ground control points are employed. The major works of the proposed schemes include: (1) initialization of orientation parameters (2) preliminary orbit fitting, (3) orbit refinement using the least squares filtering technique, and (4) space intersection. The experiment includes validation of positioning accuracy for an EROS A in-track stereo pair when different number of check points are employed.

  • In general, most incomplete communication link setup between satellite and ground station right after separation from launcher come from less accurate orbital vector ground station uses to track the satellite because only predicted orbital state vector is available during first few orbits. This paper describes the developed procedure for successful initial acquisition for KOMPSAT-2 using scanning functions ofK13 antenna system with predicted orbital information. Azimuth scan, raster scan, spiral scan functions were tested with KOMPSA Tl under intentionally degraded orbital information for antenna operation. Through tests, spiral scan function was decided to be best search scan among 3 scans. Developed procedure can assure the successful acquisition only if azimuth offset and time offset value are within +/-2deg and +/-30sec, respectively.

Development of Tractive Performance Prediction Model for Flexible Tracked Vehicles (연성 궤도형차량의 견인성능 예측 모델 개발)

  • This study was conducted to develop the mathematical model and computer simulation program(TPPMTV98) for predicting the tractive performance of tracked vehicles. It takes into account major design parameters of the vehicle as well as the pressure-sinkage and shearing characteristics of the soil, and the response of the soil to repetitive loading. Structural analysis and numerical iterative method were used for the derivation of mathematical model. The simulatiom model TPPMTV98 can predict the ground pressure distribution and the shear stress under a track, the motion resistance, the tractive effort and the drawbar pull of the vehicles as functions of slip. Predicted tractive performance results obtained by the simulation model were validated by comparing the results firm the Wong's model, the offectiveness of Wong's model validated by many of the experiment. It was found that there is fairy close agreement between the prediction by TPPMTV98 and the results from Wong's model. The computer simulation model TPPMTV98 can be used for the optimization of tracked vehicle design or for the evaluation of vehicle candidates for a given mission and environment.

A Study on the Predition of Train Noise Propagation from a Level Railroad (평탄부 선로에서 철도소음의 전파예측에 관한 연구)

  • In order to predict the train noise propagation from a level railroad, this paper presents the model of train noise source and the prediction model based on the results by using the sound intensity method. The prediction model gives the effects of geometric attenuation, ground attenuation, and barrier attenuation of noise. There are several principal assumption in developing model: (a) the train noise is primarily rolling noise; (b) the rail head and wheels are in good condition; (c) the height of source is 10cm above track; (d) the directivity pattern of train noise sources is a dipole source. Calculated results based on this model are compared with available field data and good agreement has been obtained.

  • An experimenal study on flight control of high-speed AEV(Aero-levitation Electric Vehicle) scale model in wind-tunnel is conducted. The AEV is to fly at very low altitude in predesigned track so that it is always under the wing-in-ground effect. The experiment is intended to fly the scale model to follow the predesigned altitude schedule while holding its attitude (pitch, roll, and yaw). Especially, the altitude changes for climb, cruise, and descent with constant pitch angle are most important maneuvers. The experiment shows that the required mission flights can be performed with appropriate sensors, processors, and actuators.

  • On long time scale and over large areas ground surface temperatures (GSTs) track surface air temperatures (SATs). Additionally, GST changes penetrate into the subsurface and are recorded as transient temperature perturbation to the background thermal filed. Therefore, climate change can be reconstructed from borehole temperature measurements We present GST hi story reconstructed from temperature measurements in a borehole at Pocheon The result shows that GST cold period in the late 19th century and then increased by about 2K to 1990. GST history matches well with surface air temperatures measured from 1907 to 2001 at the Seoul Meteorological Station and GST history reconstructed from temperature measurements in three boreholes at Ulsan.

  • A light rail transit, using a linear induction motor, is generally composed with reaction plates along railroad track and the three phase primary on the vehicle. This linear induction motor is driven to keep clearance between the primary and the secondary of the ground for preventing any contact. Therefore efficiency and power factor is very low. In addition, the reaction plate installed on the ground throughout entire railway is impossible to keep uniform gap and it may cause system deterioration. In this paper, A rotary-type small-scale model of a linear induction motor for various characteristic analysis is designed. Thrust force, normal force and input current of the model by air-gap variation have been analyzed by using a Finite Element Method (FEM). The effects of air-gap variation on system performance have been considered by analysis results.

  • Basically the dynamics of the fixed-wing aircraft is based on the airspeed which is relative to the wind, but when it comes to the track guidance and control, ground speed is the factor to be considered. Especially in the case of low-speed fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles the difference between the airspeed and the ground speed is significant depending on wind conditions, so that the heading control and the course control have to be designed separately. This paper represents the course control method using the pre-designed heading control gains which meet the desired characteristics. Also, waypoint guidance and control algorithms are suggested applying this control method. Finally the robustness of the proposed method is confirmed by 6-DoF nonlinear simulation.

  • Recent development trend of construction projects in the urban area is the efficient use of insufficient land, however caused to difficult construction conditions because of many adjacent structures. This paper presents the case study that analyzed the ground settlement of railroad structure for the double track railway project of Gyeongui line, adjacent to the high rise building under ground excavating for substructure work, considering interaction of soft ground characteristics. Field survey and measurement works were carried out during construction of station and excavation of high rise building, and field data were analyzed to find the source of settlement of platform and railway. In addition, the soil reinforcement and foundation restoration were performed using in-situ injection method, i.e., D-ROG(Digitalized Restoring On Grout) method which filled the pore of bottom and around of foundation with micro-cement.

Tracking of an Individual Fish by Use of the Ultrasonic Tag (초음파표식에 의한 단체어의 행동 추적)

  • This paper described on the tracking of an individual fish at the fishing ground of set net by use of a small ultrasonic fish tag. The apparatuses used were composed with a tag, three receivers and two time-interval counter oscilloscope. A pulsed ultrasonic transmitter tag fitted to back of a dorsal fin of a yellowtail specimen, Seriola quinqueradidta TEMMINCK et SCHLEGEL is tracked by measuring differences in the time of arrival of the acoustic pulses at an arrangement of three receivers in the freeding tank. The successive positions of the fish were calculated from the differences in the received time of the signals. A fish carying the tag was tracked in the fishing ground of set net by use of the hydrophone and Loran-C. The results of the tests showed that this method gave good positional information to track the movement of an individual fish in the fishing ground of set net.
