국내 RE100 이행방안의 경제성 비교분석 연구 (Comparative Economic Analysis of RE100 Implementation Methods in South Korea)

  • The Global RE100 campaign is a one of the voluntary campaign, but it has a lot of influence on domestic companies that have not yet joined the Global RE100. Accordingly, the Korean government introduced the Korean RE100 (K-RE100) system to prepare an institutional mechanism for domestic companies to respond to RE100. However, in Korea, due to the high LCOE of renewable energy and institutional limitations of the power transaction system, there is a limit for companies to implement RE100 in various ways. Therefore, in this study, the implementation cost of RE100 for green tariff, REC purchase, third-party PPA, direct(or corporate) PPA, and self-generation was compared and analyzed to derive the order of implementation with the net present value (NPV) of costs incurred over 20 years. As a result, self-construction was analyzed as the most economical method, but the implementation through the green tariff seemed to be the most realistic implementation method so far. However, considering the gradually falling LCOE, third-party PPA and direct PPA could be secured competitiveness against green tariff in 2025 and 2026. Then it could allow the companies to have various portfolios for implementation of RE100.

페로니켈 슬래그로부터 Mg 이온의 용출특성과 화합물 제조 (Extraction of Mg ion and Fabrication of Mg Compound from Ferro-Nickel Slag)

  • Ferro-Nickel slag is one of the by-products in Ferro-Nickel manufacturing process. The slag is composed of $SiO_2$, MgO, $Fe_2O_3$ and others. But the slag has been buried at landfill despite having valuable elements. This study tried to extract Mg ion and fabricate Mg compound from ferro-nickel slag using hydrochloric acid solution. Mg ion was extracted with Si, Fe and other ions in HCl solution. So reprocess was needed for gaining high purity Mg ion. It was thought that Si ion or $SiO_2$ precipitated in HCl solution and removed from solution in filtering process. Fe ion converted into $Fe(OH)_3$ after reacted with $NH_4OH$ and precipitated in HCl solution. After these process, the filtrate was composed of high purity Mg ion. $MgCl_2{\cdot}NH_4Cl{\cdot}6H_2O$ was obtained through drying of filtrate and this product was changed into MgO by burning process ($600^{\circ}C$-30 min). That is, 1st material or solution for manufacturing 2nd product was fabricated using acid dissolution method and other treatments.

폐기물고형연료 발열량에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A study on determinants having influence on heating value of waste-derived solid fuels)

  • 폐기물을 이용한 고형연료의 제조는 온실가스 저감과 대체연료로써의 이윤 창출 목적으로 많은 연구가 진행되었고, 이로 인해 상용화가 이루어 질 정도로 기술적인 발전을 거듭 하였다. 하지만, 단일폐기물에 대한 고형연료의 제조는 성분 변화가 별로 없지만 여러 가지 폐기물을 혼합하여 고형연료를 만들 경우에는 주의가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 폐기물을 이용하여 제조한 고형연료의 특성 분석을 하였다. 특성분석 결과 성형 전 폐기물과 성형 후 고형연료는 발열량 차이가 크게 나타났으며, 그 원인으로는 폐기물의 성상, 수분, 혼합정도에 기인되었다. 균일 혼합 후 폐기물 고형연료는 발열량이 6,000kcal/kg을 넘었다.

독일과 한국의 해외 청정수소 확보를 위한 양자협력 전략 비교 분석: 지정학적 관점을 중심으로 (A Comparative Analysis of the Germany and Korea's Bilateral Cooperation Strategy to Secure Overseas Clean Hydrogen: Focusing on the Geopolitical Perspective)

  • Recently, the world has been considering hydrogen energy as the primary energy transition means to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In order to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Korea is also promoting a clean hydrogen economy. However, it is necessary to introduce various clean hydrogen from overseas so that the projected demand can not meet the domestically produced. For this study, we conducted the policy comparison approach between countries other than the generally considered technical and economic approaches. The finding proposes the direction of bilateral cooperation for a strategy of securing overseas clean hydrogen from a geopolitical perspective. Germany was a target country for the policy comparison since it has a high proportion of manufacturing, like Korea, and is taking the lead in the renewable-based energy transition policy. According to the survey and analysis of the policy establishment status and new projects of the two countries, Germany is promoting bilateral international cooperation in the hydrogen area with about 33 countries based on 7 types of activities. In comparison, Korea is involved in bilateral cooperation with about 12 countries on relatively few activities. Among the types of bilateral cooperation, R&D cooperation with advanced countries for hydrogen technology was a common activity type. Germany preemptively promotes cooperation for demonstration and commercialization, considering geopolitical means and strengthening manpower training and assistance on policy and regulation to preoccupy the market for the future. Therefore, it is necessary to consider establishing a network of an entire life cycle of supply and demand network that links the future market with securing clean hydrogen considering the geopolitical distribution. To this end, Korea also needs to expand bilateral cooperation countries by activity type, and it seems necessary to seek various geopolitical-based bilateral cooperation and support measures for developing countries to diversify the supply sources of hydrogen.

The Power of Employee Participation in Green Management in the Hospitality Industry

  • This paper aims to highlight the importance of employee participation in green management in hotel firms. In particular, the study examined the role of employee participation in green management on cost saving as a hotel's performance indicator. We collected data from senior and general managers in Korean and US hotels. The results of the study supported our hypotheses, showing that the employee participation had a significantly positive relationship with cost savings in hotels. The results of the study also supported other hypotheses, showing that resource conservation and green building management had positive relationships with cost savings in hotels. Therefore, it can be predicted that green management can save cost in hotel firms. Such managerial implications are discussed.

  • Recently, as part of an effort to realize the low-carbon green growth, the research to measure the degree of greening about the road facility with United States as its center was performed. In addition, the Green-road certification is enforced and applied. In this study, we would like to examine the applicability of the green-road certification to domestic road to promote the settlement of green-road certification system to contribute the related industry development for the green technology development and application and spread in the roads sector.

A review of the philippine green building rating system, BERDE in comparison with G-SEED and LEED

  • Different countries create their own green building rating system to be in line with sustainable development as a response to the urgent call for solution for Climate Change and degradation of the environment due to rapid population growth and economic development. This study conducts a critical review on the Philippine national voluntary green building rating system, BERDE, in comparison with South Korea's national voluntary green building rating system, G-SEED and U.S. rating system LEED. Their categories, building types assessed, and assessment methods were compared side by side to seek better practice(s) for green building rating assessment for Philippine green building projects.

Qualitative comparison of chemical and green synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles

  • Synthesis of nanoparticles using green technology using plants is gaining significant attention as it is an environmentally friendly substitute to conventional physical and chemical methods. The present study was focused on the chemical and green synthesis of Iron Oxide nanoparticles from ferric chloride. The green synthesis was achieved by utilizing the bio components of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles with the size range of 87-400 nm were synthesized by wet chemical reduction technique which are unstable, prone to aggregation while in green synthesis the phytochemicals present in the leaf extract acts as the capping as well as the reducing agent thus the green synthesized iron (III) oxide nanoparticles were naturally stabilized, spherical shaped and are in the size range of 2-80 nm. The results of both the protocols are compared and presented briefly.

LOTUS: a Vietnamese Green Building Rating System and Implementation Issues

  • Green construction has increasingly become a popular concept and standardization in the world. This paper presents an overview of a Vietnamese green building rating tool named LOTUS. This paper also presents some major similarities and differences between LOTUS and other well-known green rating tools. The interviews with some experts and practitioners about Green buildings in Vietnam have twofold aims. One is to help better understand the causes of the differences under practitioners' viewpoints. The second aim is to uncover the opportunities and the difficulties that the project stakeholders may encounter upon the implementation of Green Building construction projects in Vietnam.
