Power Allocation Optimization and Green Energy Cooperation Strategy for Cellular Networks with Hybrid Energy Supplies

  • Energy harvesting is an increasingly attractive source of power for cellular networks, and can be a promising solution for green networks. In this paper, we consider a cellular network with power beacons powering multiple mobile terminals with microwave power transfer in energy beamforming. In this network, the power beacons are powered by grid and renewable energy jointly. We adopt a dual-level control architecture, in which controllers collect information for a core controller, and the core controller has a real-time global view of the network. By implementing the water filling optimized power allocation strategy, the core controller optimizes the energy allocation among mobile terminals within the same cluster. In the proposed green energy cooperation paradigm, power beacons dynamically share their renewable energy by locally injecting/drawing renewable energy into/from other power beacons via the core controller. Then, we propose a new water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy, which jointly exploits water filling optimized power allocation strategy and green energy cooperation in cellular networks. Finally, we validate our works by simulations and show that the proposed water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy can achieve about 10% gains of MT's average rate and about 20% reduction of on-grid energy consumption.

독일과 한국의 해외 청정수소 확보를 위한 양자협력 전략 비교 분석: 지정학적 관점을 중심으로 (A Comparative Analysis of the Germany and Korea's Bilateral Cooperation Strategy to Secure Overseas Clean Hydrogen: Focusing on the Geopolitical Perspective)

  • Recently, the world has been considering hydrogen energy as the primary energy transition means to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In order to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Korea is also promoting a clean hydrogen economy. However, it is necessary to introduce various clean hydrogen from overseas so that the projected demand can not meet the domestically produced. For this study, we conducted the policy comparison approach between countries other than the generally considered technical and economic approaches. The finding proposes the direction of bilateral cooperation for a strategy of securing overseas clean hydrogen from a geopolitical perspective. Germany was a target country for the policy comparison since it has a high proportion of manufacturing, like Korea, and is taking the lead in the renewable-based energy transition policy. According to the survey and analysis of the policy establishment status and new projects of the two countries, Germany is promoting bilateral international cooperation in the hydrogen area with about 33 countries based on 7 types of activities. In comparison, Korea is involved in bilateral cooperation with about 12 countries on relatively few activities. Among the types of bilateral cooperation, R&D cooperation with advanced countries for hydrogen technology was a common activity type. Germany preemptively promotes cooperation for demonstration and commercialization, considering geopolitical means and strengthening manpower training and assistance on policy and regulation to preoccupy the market for the future. Therefore, it is necessary to consider establishing a network of an entire life cycle of supply and demand network that links the future market with securing clean hydrogen considering the geopolitical distribution. To this end, Korea also needs to expand bilateral cooperation countries by activity type, and it seems necessary to seek various geopolitical-based bilateral cooperation and support measures for developing countries to diversify the supply sources of hydrogen.

Unlocking the Future of a Prosperous Green Globe: With a Focus on the G-20 STI Summit

  • Energy consumption is the largest contributing factor for the increase of $CO_2$ emissions and amounts for almost 85% of all emissions. The future energy consumption of Korea is projected to grow exponentially despite its heavy dependence on imported energy that represents 97% of its total energy supply. According to a recent OECD report the carbon emission level of Korea is currently ranked 9th in $CO_2$ emissions, and is growing by almost 3% every year. Against this background, the Korean government introduced the "low carbon green growth" policy in 2008. As the global challenges intensified in the wake of the world economic crisis, Korea has been working hard in raising the visibility of its efforts at the club governance meetings, in particular the G-20 summit. Because of cooperative efforts with major member countries, the G-20 summit agenda has been significantly diversified to include long-term issues such as climate change, development issues, and global health. To achieve an effective green recovery for a new green world economic order, the G-20 summit leaders should concentrate on a strategy of establishing green governance for a global STI cooperation. Korea as the host country is poised to leverage the Seoul G-20 summit to catalyze global efforts toward a new green economic order.

A Global Green Recovery, the G20 and International STI Cooperation in Clean Energy

  • This paper makes the case that a new policy strategy to enhance a global green recovery is needed urgently. The new strategy requires two essential elements. First, G20 economies should follow the lead of South Korea and China and turn their green stimulus investments into a serious long-term commitment, and to support these investments, they should adopt environmental pricing policies and instigate pricing and regulatory reforms to reduce carbon dependency. Second, the G20 also needs to target and coordinate assistance to developing economies in science, technology and innovation (STI) for clean energy. Such assistance is essential to help developing economies to overcome the skills, technological and capital gap that they face in clean energy technologies over the long term. Reform of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is also necessary to establish a long-term global price signal for carbon, and to increase the coverage of developing economies, the sectors and technologies and the overall financing of clean energy projects. Formulating such a policy strategy should appeal to both the Asian-Pacific and Western economies comprising the G20, and by working together to formulate such a strategy, the G20 could lead the way toward a new era of global economic management and STI cooperation in clean energy.

대규모 주민참여형 재생에너지 사업의 지역경제 활성화 평가지표 개발 연구 (Study on the Development of an Evaluation Index for the Local Economy Activation of Community Investment Renewable Energy Projects)

  • In Korea, various community investment renewable project models are being implemented to increase community acceptance of renewable energy. An important factor for enhancing local acceptance is that renewable energy projects have a positive effect on revitalizing the local economy such as income increase or job creation for residents and local companies. To maximize the local economic effect of large-scale community investment renewable energy projects, this study developed an evaluation index for local economy activation, whose indicators are the local return on investment, local companies' participation, local job creation, regional cooperation, transparency, and governance. Analysis of existing evaluation indicators and current renewable projects, financial analysis, and expert interviews were used in this research. The pilot evaluation determined that, the local economic effect was high in the following order: a fund investment wind project (Gangwon), benefit-sharing wind project (Jeju), and general wind project. In particular, residents' investment amount, the number of participating residents, and the amount and transparency of the regional cooperation fund were key factors to expand the effect of local economy activation. This evaluation index could be used in public bidding for renewable energy projects such as offshore wind zoning areas of local government.

에너지 측면의 스마트 그린시티 계획기법에 관한 연구 : 행복도시의 적용실태를 중심으로 (A Study on the Energy Planning Technique of Smart Green City : Focus on Application Condition in Multi-functional Administrative City, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 스마트 그린시티의 목표를 충족시켜 줄 수 있는 에너지 측면의 계획기법과 적용기술을 정리하고, 국내에서 가장 먼저 스마트 그린시티 계획을 수립한 행복도시를 분석함으로서 스마트 그린시티 계획의 실현방안을 정립하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 첫째, 선행연구 고찰을 통해 스마트 그린시티의 개념을 정의하고, 3개 목표, 3개 부문, 6개 기본방향을 설정하였다. 둘째, 선행연구 분석과 스마트 그린시티 목표와 계획기법의 기대효과의 연관성을 고려한 전문가 브레인스토밍을 통하여 18개 계획기법을 도출하였다. 셋째, 행복도시를 대상으로 도출된 계획기법의 적용실태를 기반여건 조성과 기술 및 시스템 도입 측면으로 파악하였다. 그 결과, 스마트 그린시티 조성을 위한 주요 계획기법은 '도시 에너지 통합관리 센터 구축', '건축물 에너지 관리 시스템', '빌딩 자동화 시스템', '녹색교통 체계 구축', '지능형 교통 시스템', '친환경 교통수단 보급', 등 건축물 에너지 소비 절감과 지능형 녹색 교통 시스템 구축에 관련된 계획기법으로 도출되었으며 향후 개선 방안을 확인할 수 있었다.

금속 나노입자를 이용한 이산화탄소 흡수 속도 촉진 (Enhancement of carbon dioxide absorption rate with metal nano particles)

  • 지구온난화 방지를 위해 이산화탄소를 제거하는 다양한 방법 중 이산화탄소 포집 및 저장 기술이 가장 유망한 기술로 부각되고 있다. 이산화탄소 포집 및 저장기술이 상용화되기 위해서는 저가의 효율적인 흡수제 개발이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 금속 나노입자를 이용하여 이산화탄소 흡수속도를 촉진하는 연구를 수행하였다. 코발트, 아연, 니켈의 세 가지 금속나노입자를 합성하였으며 나노입자 합성 방법 중 습식법과 건식법에 의한 영향을 비교 분석하였다. pH 변화를 이용한 이산화탄소 흡수 속도 측정 결과 습식법으로 제조한 니켈 금속나노입자가 가장 우수한 이산화탄소 흡수 속도 촉진효과를 보였다. 금속 나노입자를 이산화탄소 포집공정에 적용할 경우 흡수탑의 크기를 작게 하여 경제적인 공정 구현이 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

유선 네트워크 장비의 에너지 소모량과 절약 잠재성 연구 (A study of energy consumption and savings potential in wired network equipment)

  • 인터넷의 규모가 확대됨에 따라, 인터넷의 에너지 소모와 GHG(Green House Gas) 배출에 대한 문제는 최근의 새로운 이슈로 등장하였다. 그러나 이러한 문제를 다루는 인터넷 그리닝(Greening)에 대한 관심은 주로 엣지(Edge) 장비에 집중되어 있으며, 과도한 네트워크 연결성으로 인한 유선 네트워크 장비의 에너지 낭비량과 절약 잠재성에 대해서는 깊이 있는 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 유선 네트워크에서 에너지 효율성에 대한 관심의 배경과 연구의 타당성을 환경적, 경제적, 에너지 사용의 측면에서 상세히 제시한다. 그리고 네크워크 장비에서의 에너지 소모량과 절약 잠재성을 추정하고 도출한 데이터를 바탕으로 유선 네트워크 장비의 에너지 소모의 주된 요인을 분석하여, 향후 미래 인터넷 기술의 발전 방향을 제시한다.

녹색산업의 지역경쟁력 확보를 위한 산업유형별 클러스터 형성방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Formation Plan of Green Cluster by Sectoral Type for the Enhancement of Regional Competitiveness in Green Industry)

  • 본 연구는 국내 녹색산업의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 클러스터 형성방안을 제시하고자, 녹색산업의 지역경쟁력과 영향요인을 분석했다. 첫째, 신재생에너지산업은 경기, 경남, 충북, 충남, 울산, 전남에서, 탄소저감산업은 울산, 경기, 경북, 충남, 서울, 충북, 인천에서 각각 경쟁력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 신재생에너지산업은 기업, 노동, 연구개발 등의 요소조건 부문이, 탄소저감산업은 성과, 정책 제도, 시장점유, 산업특화 등의 구조 및 경쟁 부문이 가장 중요한 요인으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 녹색산업은 기존의 산업기반이 양호한 지역에서 상대적으로 경쟁력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 국내 녹색산업의 경쟁력 강화를 위해서는 기존 산업기반의 녹색화와 더불어 선택과 집중의 전략이 요구된다.

  • As the instability of oil prices rose because of the situation in Libya, oil prices worldwide recorded the highest level due to the interference in supply. And so, in the 21st century, increasing efforts are being made to use clean new renewable energy centered on solar energy in accommodation of the cycle of nature instead of being reliant on the oil exporting nations. In order to reduce city energy internationally, the implementation of a low carbon city under the combined cooperation of industrial. construction, new renewable energy and transportation sectors with continuous development centered on low carbon green urban planning is now becoming established as the paradigm of the times. Recently, the government has begun carrying out the One Million Green Home Project, which is a project where the government with the goal of providing one million renewable energy homes by 2020 gives renewable energy subsidization for a partial amount of the standard unit price of installation when solar ray, solar heat, geothermal heat, small wind power or fuel cell energy is used. Thus, through this thesis which studies the state of and surveys the green village at Shingok-ri Songhak-myun Jaecheon-shi, it is the desire that the One Million Green Homes Project will be more efficiently developed and plans for improvement formed so that a high level of satisfaction in the product will be provided.
