The Evaluation on the exiting greens of Hwasan Country Club by undisturbed Soil Core Analysis (토양 코아 분석을 통한 화산 골프장의 조성된 그린에 대한 평가)

  • The subsurface environment of the root zone area can set the stae for "do or die" of the turfgrass plant. The good condition of the greens is verified by their physical properties. Therefore, this study was carried to evaluate on the existing green of Hwasan C.C. by undisturbed soil Core Anaysis. We completed the ISTRC SYSTEM BenchMarking of the undisturbed core samples taken from Green #1, Green #5, Green #9-"Best" area, and Green #9-"Stressed" area for the Hwasan C.C.. It was also our understanding that the greens were in "good" to "very good" conditioni. THe exception might be Green #9-"Stress" area, which was the stressed area. The stressed area was confined to a ridge across Green #9. The organic content test results comfirmed the development of organic layering in depth 0-2.5cm. For the amount of compaction in the upper root zones and te development of the green's respective organic layers, the infiltration rates were high in Green #1, Green #5, and Green #9 "Stressed" area. The depicted aerificaton hole might be the probable cause of the relatively high infiltraton rate. Green #9-"Best" area had a tested infiltration rate of 18.75cm/hr. Either this area had not been aerified, or the undisturbed sample did not contain a aerification cavity. The water retention capacity of the undisturbed samples was good. When the greens were first constructed, the original root zone mix had been relatively low water retention properties. And the bulk density and the porosity of the undisturbed samples were good. In the result, all the greens were similar except for the infiltration. Thus, we supposed that Green #9-"Stressed" area might be ainly influenced by the amount of irrigation water and the configuration of the green's surface. There had been a reduction in the amount of irrigation water as the water retention capacity in the greens was promoted. Especially, it had gradually become more of a problem as the green had matured in Green #9-"Stressed" area. Because Green #9-"Stressed" area was a ridge area. The reduction in the amount of irrigation water might be the probable cause of the stress in Green #9-"Stressed" area. Our final observation related to the soil texture and the particle size distribution of the sand. Though and sand contant of all the tested greens were good, the gravel content of them exceeded ISTRC Guidelines. In particle size distribution of the sand, the very coarse and the coarse content of all the tested greens exceeded, but the rest was insufficient. The stability is a function of the material retained on the 0.25mm mesh screen. But, the content of all the tested greens was very insufficient. Though all the greens was serviceable, the coarse root zone sands, such as the sand in the tested greens, tended to be "unstable". Thus, we recommend using a topdressing/aerification sand which should be more in line with ISTRC/USGA Guidelines.;unstable".   • In this study, the green water phenomena on rectangular shaped structure is numerically simulated by STAR-CCM+ to investigate the flow pattern including the velocity profiles in bubbly water flow. 5 phases of the formation of green water in front of and over the rectangular shaped structure is simulated at the design condition which is scaled down by 1:125 from FPSO operating in GOM. All numerical results are compared with the experimental results performed in a two dimensional wave flume. The water deformation due to the green water are obtained by the high speed CCD camera with employing the shadow graphy technique, which is allowed to take the bubbly water flow into images. A series of image taken by shadow graphy technique is analyzed with MQD method to calculate the velocity in bubbly water flow.

Machinability of ceramic and WC-Co green compacts (세라믹 및 초경합금 성형체의 피절삭성)

  • Machining pressed compacts of ceramic and WC-Co materials can be the most cost effective way of forming the bodies prior to sintering when the required number of pieces is small. In this study, in order to clarify the machinability for turning, the $Si_3N_4$ and the WC-Co green compacts unsintered were machined under different cutting conditions with various tools. Absorbing chips by vacuum hose decreases tool wear. The tool wear becomes larger in the order of the ceramic, CBN and cemented carbide tools in machining the $Si_3N_4$ green compacts. In machining the WC-Co green compacts, the tool wear becomes larger in the order of the ceramic, cemented carbide and CBN tools. The land of cutting edge does not affect tool wear. When machining with cemented carbide tool, the tool wear i equal cutting length is nearly identical in spite of the increase of cutting spee, and the roughness of machined surface was the best in the cutting speed of 90 m/min. The tool wear decreases with the increase of rake angle and relief angle and with the decrease of nose radius. The machined surfaces become worse with the increase of feed rate and depth of cut, and with the decrease of rake angle and relief angle. The tool wear is not affected by the feed and depth of cut.

A Study of Compound Changes in Coffee Beans by Different Roasting Condition

  • This study aimed to investigate changes in the diverse compound in coffee beans under different roasting conditions. Four different kinds of chemical characteristics (phenolic contents, flavonoid contents, chlorogenic acid, and caffeine) were analyzed. According to the temperature of coffee roasting, this study categorized green bean, extract A ($191^{\circ}C$), B ($202^{\circ}C$), C ($220^{\circ}C$), and D ($233^{\circ}C$). As a result, total phenol compound showed low level of total phenol compound at lower temperatures. Extract A showed significantly higher level of total flavonoid ($111.33{\pm}10.14$), green bean showed $83.67{\pm}2.43$, Extract B $46.11{\pm}2.38$, C and D showed $31.44{\pm}0.12$, $19.22{\pm}0.46$ respectively. Green bean showed higher level of chlorogenic acid ($64.47{\pm}0.51$), Extract A ($39.66{\pm}0.47$), extract B ($12.45{\pm}0.99$), C, D ($3.59{\pm}0.31$, $0.63{\pm}0.12$) respectively. This study also noted that there are significant different in terms of caffeine content. Extract A has higher level of caffeine content ($38.45{\pm}1.70$) significantly, green bean ($27.14{\pm}2.27$), extract B ($18.95{\pm}0.64$), extract C ($17.89{\pm}0.96$). As a conclusion, we revealed that roasting conditions play an important role in the composition of coffee compounds.

Experimental Study on Variations in Behavior of Green Water and Flow Kinematics on Deck with Various Flare Angles (플레어 각도에 따른 청수현상의 발생과정 및 갑판 위 유동특성 변화에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, a series of experiments were performed to investigate the variations in the behavior of green water generation and the flow kinematics of bubbly flow on deck with various flare angles. The experiments were conducted in a 2-D wave flume using a simplified model of a BW Pioneer FPSO operating in the Gulf of Mexico, with a 100-year return period wave condition. The green water phenomena were captured with a high speed CCD camera. The variations in the behavior of the green water generation were investigated with various flare angles, and the horizontal mean velocity profiles of bubbly flow on deck obtained using bubble image velocimetry (BIV) were provided. The differences in flow kinematics of bubbly flow on deck were analyzed with various flare angles.

A Study on the Floating OWC Chamber Motion in Waves (부유기 OWC 챔버의 파중 운동해석)

  • The motion of a floating OWC chamber in waves is studied taking account of fluctuating air pressure in the air chamber. An atmospheric pressure drop occurs across the upper opening of the chamber which causes not only hydrodynamic but also pneumatic added mass and damping forces to the floating chamber. A velocity potential in the water due to the free surface oscillating pressure patch is added to the conventional radiation-diffraction potential problem. the potential problem inside the chamber is formulated by making use of the Green integral equation associated with the Rankine Green function wile the outer problem with the Kelvin Green function. The two integral equations are solved simultaneously by making use of a matching boundary condition at the lower opening of the chamber to the outer water region. The chamber motion in the frequency domain is calculated for various values of parameters related to the atmospheric pressure drop. The present methods can also be sued for the analysis of air-cushion vehicle motion as well as for the design of a floating OWC wave energy absorber.

A Study on Environment-friendliness in Tokyo Regional Hospitals - Focused on the Sustainable Site and Transportation (일본 도쿄 지역 병원의 친환경성 분석 연구 - 토지이용 및 교통부분을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: As the concerns for the environment are gradually prioritized, increasing interests of environment-friendly buildings are drawn. Numerous researches about healthcare buildings have been performed however, they were mainly focused on convenience or healing condition for medical treatments. The hospitals consume energy and generate $CO_2$ as twice as the residential or commercial buildings do. Various green building certification systems are globally arranged. But, it isn't easy to find certification criteria for the green hospital besides the US and UK's ones which are specially designed to evaluate environment-friendly medical buildings(Lim&Yoo, 2010). Methods: In this study, we investigates current conditions of Tokyo Regional hospitals in environment-friendly standpoint and also investigates the foreign certification criteria and systems for the green healthcare building and finds the possibility to apply them to Korean one. Results: Through this study, we found that the Tokyo regional hospitals can be environmentally improved by management plans and programs. Implications: Based on this analysis, Korean Green Building Certification for healthcare facilities will be developed in near future.

Dyeing of silk in green color used kudzu-vine leaves (칡잎을 이용한 견직물의 녹색염 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the best condition for dyeing silk in green color used kudzu-vine leaves which were available everywhere in our country except winter. Dyeing experiments were done under various dyeing conditions according to extracting method of dyebath from kudsu-vine leaves, pH of dyebath, dyeing time, concentration of dyebath and mordants which were treated after dyeing. Color difference ($\Delta$E) and Munsell's HV/C and color fastness to drycleaning, washing, perspiration and light were measured. The main results were as follows : 1. The color difference of dyed silk increased in dyebath B & C which were extracted in alkali water comparing with dyebath A which was extracted in distilled water. In dyebath B & C, the color difference was the highest in case of dyebath pH 5.0. 2. The colors of fabrics dyed in dyebath A were mainly yellow and the colors in dyebath B & C were yellow green. 3. The color differences of dyed silk increased according to dyeing time and concentration of dyebath. 4. The color were changed with the treatment of mordants. The most strong green color could get in Cu mordant treatment in dyebath C, pH 5.0, and concentration 4. 5. The peak of reflectance within the visible light of the fabric dyed in the most strong green color could be seen in $\lambda$500-520nm. 6. On the whole, the colorfastness of experimental fabrics dyed in dyebath B, C and Cu mordant treatment was good except the colorfastness to the light.

Examination of heat resistant tensile properties and molding conditions of green composites composed of kenaf fibers and PLA resin

  • Disposing of conventional fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) poses an environmentally challenging problem. Disposal of FRPs by combustion discharges carbon dioxide in the air because the resin of FRPs is made of fossil fuel. When they are disposed of in the ground, FRPs remain semipermanently without decomposing. In response to these problems, green composites are now being developed and are extensively studied as a material that produces a lower environmental burden. In this paper, green composites using kenaf fiber yarn bundles and PLA (poly(lactic acid)) are fabricated and their tensile properties are evaluated in the experiment. The tensile Young's modulus of all of the laminations is larger than that of PLA alone and the tensile strength of some laminations is larger than that of PLA alone. In particular, the value of UD composite of $0^{\circ$ shows double the tensile strength of PLA alone. Furthermore, the molding conditions for fabricating with a hot press are investigated and the heat resistant tensile properties of green composites are also reported.
