Evaluation Indicators for Green Libraries and Library Eco-friendliness

  • This study aimed to determine eco-friendly factors on the aspects of library service, materials provided or handled by the library, and programs including educational programs. Furthermore, it was setup to perform a trial evaluation for the eco-friendliness of the library based on the determined evaluation standards by this study. Results are as follows; First, regarding the question of 'Do employees of the library think that establishment of green libraries is necessary?', the employees of the libraries responded yes by 65.52%, but only 4.6% responded that it would not be necessary. Second, in analyzing the most important evaluation areas of green libraries according to the opinions of the libraries' employees, they were ranked in order: the indoor environment, energy and prevention of environmental pollution, and material and resource areas. Third, 11 areas were determined to evaluate the level of greening in the libraries; the highest averages were scored 510 for the area of energy and prevention of environmental pollution, 415 for the area of library resource, and 320 for the area of indoor environment. Last, the libraries were graded based on actual data according to the results to measure the level of greening, two libraries were graded as Diamond, the highest grade, accounting for 15.39% of all libraries; Gold and Silver grades accounted for another 15.39%, together five Certified graded libraries accounted for 38.46%, which was the highest rate among the libraries. Any library scoring less than 20% when compared to the full score was graded as Non-certified, and one library, which scored 15.06% fell into this category. The results of this study set up to serve as basic data for the direction of development for green libraries in our country, as well as reference for the employees of libraries in constructing or remodeling library buildings, establishing service infrastructure, providing information service, and planning library duties in an eco-friendly way.

회양목의 생리적 특성과 엽색변화에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Physiological and Ecological Characteristics of Korean boxwood(Buxus microphylla var. koreana Nakai))

  • This study was carried out to compare physiological characteristics of winter green cultivar (Buxus microphylla van. koreana 'Hanlim') with those of native cultuvar and clucidate the effect of environmental factors such as light intensity, time of shading, and nutrients etc. on leaf color in Korean boxwood(Buxus microphylla var. koreana Nakai). The results are summarized as followed; The 'Hanlim' cultivar had higher contents of chlorophyll as compared with native cultivar from September, 1989 to March, 1990. However, at April, 1990, native cultivar had higher chlorophyll contents. In the rate of photosynthesis, 'Hanlim' cultivar was higher than native cultivar from September to December, 1989, but showed the opposite trend from March to April, 1990. As to the period of browning, 'Hanlim'cultivar had stayed green even after November 22, 1989, while the foliage of native cultivar turned yellowish brown color through the winter. The contents of nitrogen and potassium of 'Hanlim' cultivar werehigher than those of the native cultivar. However native cultivar had higher rate of phosphorus, magnessium, and calcium. In the effect of environmental factors such as light intensity, time of shading, and nutrients etc. on leaf color in Korean boxwood(Buxus microphylla var. koreana Nakai), chlorophyll contents were increased with shading and leaves grown 70% shading had twice as much as those of full sunlight, fertilized plot. Nutrient fertilization increased chlorophyll contents and values of color in boxwood too. In the shading times, early shading time maintained effectively green color of boxwood in winter. Therefore, in case of native cultivars, it has planted at full sunlight area until now and color of leaves turned yellowish brown color through the witner. However, it will maintain green color of leaves by planting at shade area. In addition to, as 'Hanlim' cultivar had benefits of maintain green color of leaves during winter, it will be planted at full sunlight area to landscape plants.

Biotope Networking in a Metropolitan Area of Daegu -The Case of Susung gu-

  • The biotope network of Susung gu is characterized as dense residence zones forming its core that enable partial biotope in and around the residential zones. First, in district I, it is possible to make these zones connected to the third district. In district II, which is abundant in biotope, it is very important not to continue destoyi9ng the existing biotopes. In the case of district III, old residence zones have fill the severe gap between forests and the Sinchun river, through redevelopment, which covers more than 30% of the biotope area with large scaled linear residence areas. In the case of district IV, limited destruction of biotope and the improvement of nature areas were suggested as the alternative for preservation of biotopes. Consequently, in the construction of the biotope network in Su-sung gu, the maintenance of existing biotopes is required. Int he old residence zones, as redevelopment occurs, by maintaining biotope area of more than 30% and making the scale of residential complexes more than 1ha, it is possible for old residence zones to accomplish the role of providing important green spaces. In the case of newly developed residential zones, by reducing the rate of pavement of traffic conducts, utilizing small sized parks at the junctions and the plantation of trees along the corridors, the entire residence zones are able to accomplish the role of providing important green space. The problem houses and connecting the inner green space of the private houses with the green spaces of the streets in some areas. Futhermore, green spaces of forests must not be used for urban development. Dual planting on sidewalks, planting plots dispersed among streets and median strips must be established on road, too.

공원녹지의 토지피복비율과 기온간의 요인분석 (Factor Analysis of the Relation Between Land Cover Ratio of Green Spaces and Temperature)

  • The present study examined the relation between land cover condition and temperature in various types of urban green spaces. The diagram of temperature distribution showed that high-temperature zones are formed around paved areas, and low temperature zone around planted areas and grassy areas. Even in planted areas where low-temperature zones were formed, temperature was different according to hierarchical structure. That is, temperature was relatively low in areas covered with arbor + sub-arbor. With regard to land cover ratio, the increase of planted areas and grassy areas had an effect on the fall of temperature and the effect was higher in order of planted areas and grassy areas. On the contrary, paved areas and bare areas had an effect on the rise of temperature. According to the results of factor analysis, in case of the highest temperature, planted area and grassy area were put together into a factor lowering temperature, paved area and temperature into a factor raising temperature, and bare area alone into a factor of low significance. In case of the lowest temperature, grassy area and bare area were put together into a factor, and the validity of the factor analysis was proved by the analysis of urban heat islands. An increase in the number of trees by height was effective in lowering temperature, and the effect was high in order to arbor and sub-arbor, and the source of coldness in planted area was tall trees.

도시공원의 기온에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Temperature of Urban Parks)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting temperature of urban parks to grasp the relationship between the land coverage in open space as well as the forest condition and decreasing city temperature by difference of purposed are. Futhermore, this research interpreted the relationship between wind direction, air temperature, the land coverage of the green space, the number of tree, green volume, height of tree and the mitigation of city temperature with the revolution analysis. The result of this study is that cool air in open space move leeward and decreasing city temperature is influenced by the difference of the land coverage in open space. Specifically, in order of the arbo $r_{-a}$rbor in the forest zone, the increase of the number of trees was related with temperature surrounding significantly. This study found that the use possibility of the green volume was recognized as the index of the green volume relative to air temperature surrounding. Green space of the city control area is more effective decreasing temperature than that of housing zone.

Green SCM 도입 및 적용 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Introduction and Application of Green SCM)

  • This study analyzes introduction state of Green SCM technology in domestic and overseas area and suggests how to reduce greenhouse gases of logistics in the future. Thus, introduction state of Green SCM was reviewed by building and integrating logistic-related informatization systems such as WMS and TMS. And how to apply the system to track toxic substance in supply chain was performed to manage toxic substance. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop a device to display and collect vehicle condition & log through OBD-II, which is widely adopted, and hardware to measure, collect, and monitor carbon dioxide emission and power consumption of fixed facilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate tendencies on land use by grasping the characteristics of changes of use at the borders of single-detached housing area for planning single-detached housing area in the future. It is divided the borders of detached housing areas into three types, educational facility, parks and green spaces, and apartment complex, and then analyzed the characteristics of each location after a field study. It is summarized as follows. First, warehouses and vacant sites were distributed in adjacent borders near parks and green areas. Second, there were stationery and flour-based meal stores in adjacent borders near educational facilities, suitable for students' interest and motion patterns. Third, there were realty dealers, food stores, and laundries which provide the dwellers with service in adjacent borders near multi-family housing.

  • 본 논문은 경인선 백운역 및 백운역세권을 대상으로 철도에 의해 양분된 지역생활권의 단절 해소 및 철도시설 연변부지의 효율적 토지이용을 통한 입체적인 철도 환승시스템을 제안함과 동시에 철도 이용객의 편의를 도모하며 기존의 단절된 녹지축을 활성화하여 친환경적이며 안전하고, 편리한 주거환경의 개선을 통해 지역주민들의 삶을 한층 풍요롭게 하고 나아가 지역 생활권의 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것에 있다.

시설재배지에서 기수담수화시스템 적용에 따른 토양 환경 및 애호박의 생육 영향 분석 (Effects of the Brackish Water Desalination System on Soil Environment and Growth in Squash Greenhouse Cultivation Area)

  • The objectives of the research were 1) to develop the low-cost and high efficient desalination system to treat brackish water having high salt contents for irrigation at greenhouses near coast, and 2) to monitor and assess the effects of the brackish water desalination system on soil environment and growth in squash greenhouse cultivation area. The monitoring site was one of the squash greenhouse cultivation farm at Choengam-ri, Jinsang-myun, Gwangyang-si, Jeonnam-Do Monitoring results for groundwater irrigation water quality, and salinity showed a remarkable difference between control and treatment group. The salinity of soil at treatment group was less than at control group. While, the system made possible to increase the squash quantity from 4.7 ea to 6.3 ea at each and the average weight of the harvested squash was increased from 277.2 g to 295.1 g. The applied brackish water desalination system may be appled to reclaim sea or brackish irrigated area as alternative water resources, although long-term monitoring is needed to get more representative results at different level of salinity.

이동통신 자료를 활용한 가정기반 OD 구축 및 분석 (Home-based OD Matrix Production and Analysis Using Mobile Phone Data)

  • 본 연구에서는 휴대전화 이용자의 시간대별 기지국 위치정보를 기반으로 하여 이용자의 이동경로를 추적하고, 기/종점을 추출하여 OD를 구축하였다. OD 구축시 통행거리가 길어질수록 통신횟수가 많아짐을 고려하여 통행거리별 평균통신횟수를 산출/반영하였고, 가정기반 통행만을 대상으로 수도권 중심의 OD를 구축하였다. 셀 단위로 집계된 휴대전화 자료를 법정동 단위로 변환하고, 이를 행정동 단위로 변환하여 본 연구에서 구축한 OD를 KTDB OD와 비교분석 한 결과, 시/군/구 단위 OD와 동 단위 OD의 상관계수는 각각 0.98, 0.85로 나타나 상당한 연관성이 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
