Physicochemical properties of chufa starch were investigated The result are summarized as follow: Moisture content crude protein and crude fat were 10.10%, 0.31% and 0.41,% respectively. Amylose content of chufa starch was 41.6% and blue value was 0.49. Lightness and whiteness of chufa starch was 96.36 and 92.23 of Hunter's color value. In iodine reaction, maximum absorbance wavelength (${\lambda}max$) was 628 nm. Water binding capacity was 83% and swelling power and solubility of chufa starch were increased slowly to $60^{\circ}C$, but increased rapidly after $60^{\circ}C$. Scanning election microscope(SEM) showed that granule type of chufa starch was round or elliptic type, and average granule size was $10{\mu}m$. The results by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) revealed that gelatinization patterns were similar to those of potato or rice starch. In rapid viscoanalyzer(RVA) examination, pasting temperature was $79.95^{\circ}C$ and peak viscosity of chufa starch was 385.08.
In order to discriminate the enteroendocrine cell types in the mucosal epithelium of the normal duodenum of the Korean hedgehog (Erinaceus koreanus). The tissues were fixed in the mixture of 1% paraformaldehyde and 1% glutaraldehyde in phosphate buffer (pH 7.2), and postfixed in 2% osmium tetroxide (phosphate buffer, pH 7.2). They were embedded in Araldite, and the ultrathin sections were made by LKB-V ultratome following the inspection of semithin sections stained with toluidine blue-borax solutions. Ultrathin sections contrasted with uranyl acetate and lead citrate were observed with JEM 100B electron microscope. At least six types of enteroendocrine cells distributed in the mucosal epithelium of the duodenum were identified according to their morphological characteristics mainly based on the size, shape, number and electron density of the secretory granules. Type I cells had moderately developed organelles. The secretory granules were pleomorphic ($370X510nm$), and the granule cores with high electron density were enveloped in limiting membrane and characterized by a narrow halo. Type II cells contained an indented nucleus and well-developed organelles. The secretory granules were round (350 nm) and classified in two kinds by electron density, moderate and high. Both granules were surrounded by limiting membrane and those with high electron density showed often a wide halo. Type III cells had an indented nucleus. The secretory granules with various electron density were round (220 nm) in shape. The granules with high electron density were enveloped in limiting membrane and characterized by a narrow halo, but those with low or moderate electron density had not been observed the limiting membrane. Type IV cells contained an indented nucleus and moderately developed organelles. The secretory granules were round (180 nm) in shape, and the granule cores with high electron density were enveloped in limiting membrane and showed often a wide halo. Type V cells had a large amount of rough endoplasmic reticulum. Secretory granules with low or moderate electron density were round (230 nm) in shape, and surrounded by limiting membrane and showed a narrow halo. Type VI cells contained an oval nucleus and well-developed organelles, especially Golgi complex. The secretory granules with high electron density were round (210 nm) in shape. The granules were enveloped in limiting membrane and showed often a wide halo.

This research tried to find out the optimum fabrication method of calcined clay granules comprising zeolite. Kaolin clay and natural zeolite powder were used as raw materials of calcined clay, and silica stone powder was used for controlling the porosity of the granules. The granulation was performed with two kinds of granulators: a pan granulator and a high-shear mixer granulator. Various granules were fabricated by the mixing ratios and the rotation speeds of the granulators, and were heated from 400 to $700^{\circ}C$ at $100^{\circ}C$ interval. The crushing strength, pore size distribution, and CEC of the granules were measured. The evaluation method for the resistance of granules to human treading was created and the tests were conducted at dry and wet conditions. The resistance and crushing strength improved in proportion to the rotation speed of the granulator and the heating temperature, but the CEC decreased. The pellet made by the pan granulator did not have the strength against treading upon heating to below $700^{\circ}C$, but the pellet made by the high-shear mixer granulator endured the treading test upon heating to over $500^{\circ}C$
Obstructive sialadenitis of major salivary glands is a common entity that occurs either in sialolithiasis or in foreign-body obstruction of the excretory ducts. This is characterized histologically by the presence of duct-like structural groups in a highly fibrotic stroma. Although the pathologic features are well recognized, the various cell types involved in the atrophy and subsequent regeneration of the obstructed salivary gland have been controversial. For this reason, an animal model of obstructive sialadenitis that induced atrophy in the salivary gland was used. Experimental study was performed to observe changes of submandibular gland in rabbit and apply the results to clinical activity. Forty-five rabbits each weighing about 3Kg were used and divided into control and experimental group. In the experimental group, ducts of submandibular gland was ligated and cutted divided into each twenty rabbits. Rabbits were serially sacrificed on the 3rd, 5th, 14th, 30th day of experiment. The submandibular glands were dissected out at sacrifice and stained with H&E, MT, immunohistochemical stain and the histological examinations were carried out under the light and transmission electron microscope. After examination and comparison of all specimens, the results of this study were as follows: 1. In the features of H&E stain, moderate infiltration of inflammatory cell were present at 3rd day of experiment. The features of ductal metaplasia was observed after 7th day in the ligation group and destructive changes was continued. In the cutting group, atrophic changes were less severe than ligation group but the small ductule were separated from stroma after 7th day. 2. In the feature of MT stain, apposition of connective tissue was increased in all group, more active in ligation group. 3. In the features of immunohistochemical stain, ligation group showed increased PCNA positive response at 7th day and the higher activity of duct cells was observed. Severance group showed more PCNA positive response than ligation group at 30th day. 4. In TEM features, ductal metaplasia was started at 7th day and degenerative change with margination of nucleus had been severe. Although ductal metaplasia was seen in the severance group, more numerous granule in different size was founded than ligation group. From above results, degenerative change was identified with ductal metaplasia, apically apposition of granule, r-ER destruction in ligation group. Severance of duct elicit degenerative change of grandular cells but the change was less severe than ligation group and more PCNA positive cell was founded at acinar cell.
As studies on the starch properties of barley and naked barley, the granule size frequency distribution, amylose content and blue value of starches seperated from the 11 varieties of barley and 13 varieties of naked barley, which were grown paddies of Office of Rural Development, Iri, Korea in 1972, were determined. The results were as follows: 1. The type of the barley and naked barley starch granules was short oval and the ratio of minor axis to major axis was 1 to 1.2. Diameter of the starch granules was in the range of $4.0{\sim}6.0\;{\mu}$ to $32.0{\sim}37.0\;{\mu}$ is and medium granule of the naked barley was $10{\sim}22\;{\mu}$ on the contrary to $16{\sim}20\;{\mu}$ of the barley starch. Average size of the naked barley starch was larger than that of the barley and some differences were observed between varieties. 2, Amylose contents of the barley and the naked barley starches were in the range $27.5{\sim}30.5%$ and average of the barley was 29.4% a little higher than 28.2% of the naked barley and observed of some differences between varieties. 3. Blue values of the barley and the naked barley starches were in the range $0.47{\sim}0.54$, and average was 0.51.
Granule swelling is essential phenomenon of starch gelatinization in excess water, and characteristic of heated starch dispersion depends largely on size and distribution of swelled starch granule. Although swelling characteristic of starch granules depends on type of starch, heating rate, and moisture content, influence of heating rate on swelling phenomenon of starch granule has not been fully discussed, because constant heating rate of starch dispersion cannot be obtained by conventional heating method. Ohmic heating, electric-resistant heat generation method, applies alternative current to food materials, through which heating rate can be easily controlled precisely and conveniently at wide range of constant heating rates. Starch dispersion heated at low heating rates below $7.5^{\circ}C/min$ showed Newtonian fluid behavior, whereas showed pseudoplastic behavior at heating rates above $16.4^{\circ}C/min$. Apparent viscosity of starch dispersion increased linearly with increasing heating rate, and yield stress was dramatically increased at heating rates above $16.4^{\circ}C/min$. Average diameter of corn starch granules during ohmic heating was dramatically increased from $30.97\;to\;37.88\;{\mu}m$ by increasing heating rate from $0.6\;to\;16.4^{\circ}C/min$ (raw corn starch: $13.7\;{\mu}m$). Hardness of starch gel prepared with 15% corn starch dispersion after heating to $90^{\circ}C$ at different heating rates decreased gradually with increasing heating rate, then showed nearly constant value from $9.4\;to\;23.2^{\circ}C/min$. Hardness increased with increase of heating rate higher than $23.2^{\circ}C/min$.
In this study, a proposal for revision of HSK Code was established on legally designated minerals and national stockpile minerals. It is difficult to exactly identify trade balances of minerals, such as lithium ore, rare earth ore, serpentine, kidney stone in legally designated minerals and ingot of indium, ferro-tungsten, ingot of antimony, granule of selenium, gallium, lanthanum oxide, cerium carbonate in national stockpile minerals because HSK Codes of them were not allocated separately. Furthermore, specific use, standard, component, type of products cannot be exactly identified in current HSK Code system. Therefore, it is makes rule to separately manage minerals which were managed by government such as legally designated minerals and national stockpile minerals. However, a proposal for revision of HSK Code system was established to comply with international standard(HS Code) and the items over a certain size(amounts : over 50 mil.$, volumes : over 5000 ton) were selected as revised subjects. Moreover hierarchies between HSK Codes were considered.
An organic compound fertilizer was manufactured using wet oxidation human waste as principal source of phosphorus and organic matter. The waste was treated with sulfuric and glutamic acids to increase the available and water-soluble $P_2O_5$ contents. The treatment of 0.1 N sulfuric acid with 24 hours curing was best way in recovering the maximum percentage of $P_2O_5$ originally in the waste. The particle size distribution of trial product varied considerably in the amount of glutamic acid used for granulation. The number of relatively large fertilizer particles was increased as the amount of glutamic acid was increased. The granule crushing strength was generally high in large granules in which 12.5 weight percent of glutamic acid were used for granulation. The trial product showed high moisture absorption due to its porous structure and chemical makeup.

Lichen genus Stereocaulon (Schreb.) Hoffm is distributed throughout the world. Although 15 Stereocaulon species have been recorded in Korea, no detailed taxonomic or revisionary research has been conducted for nearly two decades. In this study, we collected 260 putative Stereocaulon spp. samples and identified the species based on morphological, chemical, and molecular characteristics. From the collected samples, 10 species of Stereocaulon were identified, nine of which had already been reported, although this was the first report for the tenth, S. octomerellum Hue, in Korea. General characteristics of Stereocaulon spp. include coralloid phyllocladia and tubercular cephalodia; however, the specimen first collected in Korea was a rare species with tomentum on the pseudopodetia. The specimen of S. octomerellum is characterized by the presence of a primary thallus, granule to short coralloid phyllocladia, and pseudopodetia up to 1 cm in size, with tubercular cephalodia. To determine the phylogeny of the specimens, we compared the ITS sequences of ribosomal DNA and the b-tubulin gene sequences. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the Korean Stereocaulon species were monophyletic and placed in the previous phylogenetic classification. Species of S. intermedium and S. exutum, however, were polyphyletic, and are morphologically variable and widespread species. Overall, we present here detailed morphological and chemical descriptions of each species identified and a revised key of all known Stereocaulon species in South Korea.
Suitable rapeseed cultivation techniques of domestic agriculture are essential for stable security, supply and demand of rapeseed. This research developed a rapeseed seeder for bio-diesel and analyzed the seeding performance improving an existent granule fertilizer applicator. The relational expression of metering groove size and discharge rate per time displayed high correlation with a coefficient of determination of 0.988. Also, the scattering types were analyzed by forwarding speed and discharge rate. Validity application width was decided as 7.0 m by analyzing application uniformity at application widths of 7.6 m, 6.6 m, 5.6 m. All average coefficients of variation values were less than 20%. The best application uniformity was obtained in the condition of a work speed of 1.3 m/s and a sowing rate of 19.0 g/s. It was better average coefficient of variation values under 10% at superposition application of rapeseed seeder. Also, scattering amount rates of right and left were within 0.89${\sim}$1.0.
