We propose a optimal identification of information granulation(IG)-based fuzzy model to carry out the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. To optimally identity we use genetic algorithm (GAs) sand Hard C-Means (HCM) clustering. An initial structure of fuzzy model is identified by determining the number of input, the selected input variables, the number of membership function, and the conclusion inference type by means of GAs. Granulation of information data with the aid of Hard C-Means(HCM) clustering algorithm help determine the initial parameters of fuzzy model such as the initial apexes of the membership functions and the initial values of polynomial functions being used in the premise and consequence part of the fuzzy rules. And the initial parameters are tuned effectively with the aid of the genetic algorithms(GAs) and the least square method. Numerical example is included to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.
This paper is concerned with a Logic-based Fuzzy Neural Networks (LFNN) with the aid of fuzzy granulation. As the underlying design tool guiding the development of the proposed LFNN, we concentrate on the context-based fuzzy clustering which builds information granules in the form of linguistic contexts as well as OR fuzzy neuron which is logic-driven processing unit realizing the composition operations of T-norm and S-norm. The design process comprises several main phases such as (a) defining context fuzzy sets in the output space, (b) completing context-based fuzzy clustering in each context, (c) aggregating OR fuzzy neuron into linguistic models, and (c) optimizing connections linking information granules and fuzzy neurons in the input and output spaces. The experimental examples are tested through two-dimensional nonlinear function. The obtained results reveal that the proposed model yields better performance in comparison with conventional linguistic model and other approaches.
In this paper, we propose a genetically optimized identification of information granulation(IG)-based fuzzy model. To optimally design the IG-based fuzzy model we exploit a hybrid identification through genetic alrogithms(GAs) and Hard C-Means (HCM) clustering. An initial structure of fuzzy model is identified by determining the number of input, the seleced input variables, the number of membership function, and the conclusion inference type by means of GAs. Granulation of information data with the aid of Hard C-Means(HCM) clustering algorithm help determine the initial paramters of fuzzy model such as the initial apexes of the membership functions and the initial values of polyminial functions being used in the premise and consequence part of the fuzzy rules. And the inital parameters are tuned effectively with the aid of the genetic algorithms and the least square method. And also, we exploite consecutive identification of fuzzy model in case of identification of structure and parameters. Numerical example is included to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.
The accumulated knowledge of the influence of solar granulation on spectral lines, i.e. their asymmetry, provides a key to analyze stellar spectral line asymmetries. In this paper, a simple line synthesis using a simple 'model' of granulation was calculated. By adjusting the properties of the granule model, the observed imprints of convection on spectral lines can be reproduced. Since we depict convective flows using a continuous function rather than using a few components of flows (cf. Gray and Toner 1985, 1986; dravins 1990), we were able to identify which components of convection are important in line bisector shapes. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: Firstly, the intensity contrast (i.e. temperature fluctuation), and the area coverage of up- and down-flows are the two important factors which determine the line bisector shapes. Secondly, on the contrary to the assumption of other studies, the effect of horizontal flows is non-negligible. This exercise provides a qualitative understanding of the effect of convection on spectral lines. This knowledge serves as a guideline for understanding the characteristic difference in convection for stars on either side of the 'Granulation Boundary' (Gray 1982; Gray and Nagel 1989).

In this study, we proposed genetically optimized self-organizing fuzzy polynomial neural network based on information granulation and evolutionary algorithm (gdSOFPNN), develop a comprehensive design methodology involving mechanisms of genetic optimization. The proposed gdSOFPNN gives rise to a structural Iy and parametrically optimized network through an optimal parameters design available within FPN (viz. the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial, input variables, the number of membership functions, and the apexes of membership function). Here, with the aid of the information granulation, we determine the initial location (apexes) of membership functions and initial values of polynomial function being used in the premised and consequence part of the fuzzy rules respectively. The performance of the proposed gdSOFPNN is quantified through experimentation that exploits standard data already used in fuzzy modeling.

Knowledge representation realized by information granules is one of the essential facets of granular computing and an area of intensive research. Fuzzy clustering and clustering are general vehicles to realize formation of information granules. Granulation - degranulation paradigm is one of the schemes determining and quantifying functionality and knowledge representation capabilities of information granules. In this study, we augment this paradigm by forming and optimizing a collection of associations among original and transformed information granules. We discuss several transformation schemes and analyze their properties. A series of numeric experiments is provided using which we quantify the improvement of the degranulation mechanisms offered by the optimized transformation of information granules.
A study was made to investigate the effects of various binders on the physical properties of acetaminophen granules and tablets prepared by wet and fluidized bed granulation methods. The binders used were povidone (K-90), hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC-L) and gelatin. The fluidized bed granules were more porous than the wet massed, and the tablets prepared by fluidized system showed improved disintegration and dissolution characteristics. The dissolution rate was fast in the order of gelatin>povidone>hydroxypropylcellulose in tablets prepared by fluidized system, and povidone>hydroxypropylcellulose>gelatin in tablets prepared by wet granulation.
Granulation procedure was carried out in a 0.109m I. D., 1.8m height fluidized bed coal combustor of the multi-sized particles. The domestic anthracite with heating value 3240kcal/kg was used. Granulation of fine coal particles and fluidizing characteristics were investigated by the pressure fluctuation properties such as mean pressure, standard deviation of pressure fluctuation and power spectrum distribution. Defluidization state and granulation mechanism were also studied by the various analysis. It was found that the conversion efficiency in the elutriated stream was increased by the coalescence of fine coal particles. Defluidization and pressure fluctuation properties were interrelated and this result was indication of the capabilities of pressure fluctuation properties analysis in the diagnostics of fluidizing state.
Tongue tumors of pediatric patients are the most common soft tissue tumor of pediatric oral and maxillofacial tumors. There are many kind of pediatric tongue lesions such as hemangioma, lymphangioma, papilloma, and cyst. Most of these lesions are benign, but malignant tumors of tongue may be occurred. Therefore, malignancy should be ruled out. Sometimes, tongue lesions are present with dyspnea, dysphagia, dysarthria, bleeding, or cosmetic problem. We experienced a case of chronic inflammatory mass on posterior 1/3 of the tongue in 4 month old female patient. Swallowing difficulty and respiratory distress symptom occurred because of tongue mass effect. The tongue mass was confirmed as granulation tissue by microscopic examination. After excision of tongue mass, she had no problem with swallowing and breathing.
An ultimate goal of periodontal therapy is to stop the disease process and to regenerate a functionally-oriented periodontium destroyed as a result of periodontal disease. The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of grafting granulation tissue obtained from extraction socket on the regeneration of horizontal furcation defect. Six dogs were used in this study. All mandibular first and third premolars were extracted. At 2, 3, and 5 days after extraction, tissues were obtained from extraction socket of 1 mongrel dog and examined by light microscope. Granulation tissue obtained at 5 days after extraction was chosen as the graft material. Five days later, horizontal furcation defects were created surgically at mandibular second and fourth premolars in the right and left side of the 5 beagle dogs. The entrance area of the artificially prepared "key hole" defects were about $3\;4mm^2$. By random selections, 2 exposed furcation defects were grafted with granulation tissue obtained from extraction socket as experimental group and 1 furcation defect was as control. The flaps were replaced to their original position and sutured with 4-0 chromic cat-gut. Three dogs were sacrificed 4 weeks and two dogs 8 weeks after surgery, and the prepared specimens were examined by light microscope. At 4 weeks, furcations were filled with epithelial lining and fibrous connective tissue infiltrated with chronic inflammatory cells. New bone formation was observed in all groups. Only experimental group showed new cementum formation. At 8 weeks, new cementum, functional arrangement of new PDL fiber, root resorption, and some ankylotic union of newly formed alveolar bone and root surface were observed in all groups. Experimental group showed that epithelial downgrowth was inhibited and new bone formation was more active compared to control. The success rate of the furcation defect healing was higher in experimental group than control. These results suggested that grafting of granulation tissue obtained from extraction socket which combined with reconstructive periodontal flap surgery may promote periodontal regeneration of horizontal furcation defect.
