In this paper, size dependent bending and free flexural vibration behaviors of functionally graded (FG) nanobeams are investigated using a nonlocal quasi-3D theory in which both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects are introduced. The nonlocal elastic behavior is described by the differential constitutive model of Eringen, which enables the present model to become effective in the analysis and design of nanostructures. The present theory incorporates the length scale parameter (nonlocal parameter) which can capture the small scale effect, and furthermore accounts for both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects by virtue of a hyperbolic variation of all displacements through the thickness without using shear correction factor. The material properties of FG nanobeams are assumed to vary through the thickness according to a power law. The neutral surface position for such FG nanobeams is determined and the present theory based on exact neutral surface position is employed here. The governing equations are derived using the principal of minimum total potential energy. The effects of nonlocal parameter, aspect ratio and various material compositions on the static and dynamic responses of the FG nanobeam are discussed in detail. A detailed numerical study is carried out to examine the effect of material gradient index, the nonlocal parameter, the beam aspect ratio on the global response of the FG nanobeam. These findings are important in mechanical design considerations of devices that use carbon nanotubes.

Although commercial PIV systems have been widely used for the non-intrusive velocity field measurement of fluid flows, they are still under development and have considerable room for improvement. In this study, a single-frame double-exposure PIV system using a high-resolution CCD camera was developed. A pulsed Nd:Yag laser and high-resolution CCD camera were synchronized by a home-made control circuit. In order to resolve the directional ambiguity problem encountered in the single-frame PIV technique, the second particle image was genuinely shifted in the CCD sensor array during the time interval dt. The velocity vector field was determined by calculating the displacement vector at each interrogation window using cross-correlation with 50% overlapping. In order to check the effect of spatial resolution of CCD camera on the accuracy of PIV velocity field measurement, the developed PIV system with three different resolution modes of the CCD camera (512 ${\times}$ 512, lK ${\times}$ IK, 2K ${\times}$ 2K) was applied to a turbulent flow which simulate the Zn plating process of a steel strip. The experimental model consists of a snout and a moving belt. Aluminum flakes about $1{\mu}m$ diameter were used as scattering particles for the liquid flow in the zinc pot and the gas flow above the zinc surface was seeded with atomized olive oil with an average diameter of 1-$3{\mu}m$. Velocity field measurements were carried out at the strip speed $V_s$=1.0 m/s. The 2K ${\times}$ 2K high-resolution PIV technique was significantly superior compared to the smaller pixel resolution PIV system. For the cases of 512 ${\times}$ 512 and 1K ${\times}$ 1K pixel resolution PIV system, it was difficult to get accurate flow structure of viscous flow near the wall and small vortex structure in the region of large velocity gradient.

Paper factories use a large amount of water and same amount of wastewater is generated. It is important to purity and recycle the wastewater because of water shortages and water pollution. The existing water treatment facilities like precipitation process need large-scale equipment and wide space to purity the wastewater of paper factory. High gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) system has the merits to purity rapidly because of large voids at filter and to occupy small space. In this paper, two types of superconducting magnets were used for HGMS systems. Cryo-cooled Bi-2223 superconducting magnet system with 70 mm room temperature bore and 200 mm of height was prepared. Cryo-cooled Nb-Ti superconducting magnet with 100 mm room temperature bore and 600 mm of height was used for magnetic separator. Magnetic filters were designed by the analysis of magnetic field distribution at superconducting magnets. The various magnetic seeding reactions were investigated to increase the reactivity of coagulation. The effects of magnetic separation of wastewater were investigated as variation of magnetic field strength and flow rate of wastewater.
This paper investigated the spatial variations of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) concentrations for 38 watersheds in Pennsylvania using 7 years of hydroclimatic and water quality data. Watersheds with higher percentage of urban and agricultural land uses exhibited larger variations of nutrient concentrations than forested watersheds. N and P concentrations were strongly associated with agricultural and urban land uses, respectively. The principle component analysis identified three components - land use and topography related, hydroclimate related factors, and size. Results of partial redundancy analysis showed the joint effect of climate, land cover, and topographic variables for explaining 28.1% of the variance of nitrogen concentrations and a pure effect of land cover for explaining 41.8% of total variance of P concentrations. The geographical pattern of statewide nutrient concentrations demonstrated a strong spatial gradient; low concentration in northwestern PA and high concentrations in southeastern PA. This pattern is associated with combined effects of hydroclimate, land use, topography, and water quality at the regional scale.

Objectives:To develop and validate HPLC-PDA methods for simultaneous determination of seven constituents in Samchulkunbi-tang (SKT). Additionally, we investigated the cytotoxicity against BEAS-2B cell line and splenocytes of SKT. Methods:Reverse-phase chromatography using a Gemini $C_{18}$ column operating at $40^{\circ}C$, and photodiode array (PDA) detection at 230, 254 and 280 nm, were used for quantification of the three marker components of SKT. The mobile phase using a gradient flow consisted of two solvent systems. Solvent A was 1.0% (v/v) aqueous acetic acid and solvent B was acetonitrile with 1.0% (v/v) acetic acid. The cytotoxicity of SKT were measured by the CCK-8 assay method. Results:Calibration curves were acquired with $r^2$>0.9999, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) values (%) for intra- and inter-day precision were less than 6.0%. The recovery rate of each compound was in the range of 86.89-109.78%, with an RSD less than 4.0%. The contents of seven compounds in SKT were 1.39-6.84 mg/g. SKT had no cytotoxicity effect at 50-200 ${\mu}g$/mL concentrations. Conclusions:The established method will be helpful to improve quality control and in vitro efficacy study of SKT.
Pedestrian detection, an important component of autonomous driving and driving assistant system, has been extensively studied for many years. In particular, image based pedestrian detection methods such as Hierarchical classifier or HOG and, deep models such as ConvNet are well studied. The evaluation score has increased by the various methods. However, pedestrian detection requires high sensitivity to errors, since small error can lead to life or death problems. Consequently, further reduction in pedestrian detection error rate of autonomous systems is required. We proposed a new method to detect pedestrians and reduce the error rate by using the Faster R-CNN with new developed pedestrian training data sets. Finally, we compared the proposed method with the previous models, in order to show the improvement of our method.

This study using ABAQUS investigates the nonlinear vibration responses when thermal and random acoustic loads are applied simultaneously to the stiffened composite panels. The nonlinear vibration analyses are performed with changing the number of stiffeners, and layup condition of the skin panel. The panel and stiffeners both are modeled using shell elements. Thermal load (ΔT) is assumed to have the temperature gradient through the thickness direction of the stiffened composite panel. The random acoustic load is represented as stationary white-Gaussian random pressure with zero mean and uniform magnitude over the panels. The thermal postbuckling analysis is conducted using RIKS method, and the nonlinear dynamic analysis is performed using Hilber-HughesTaylor time integration method. When ΔT = 25.18 ℃ and SPL = 105 dB are applied to the stiffened composite panel, the effect of the number of stiffener is investigated, and the snap-through responses are observed for composite panels without stiffeners and with 1 and 3 stiffeners. For investigation of the effect of layup condition of the skin panel, when ΔT = 38.53 ℃ and SPL = 110 dB are applied to the stiffened composite panel, the snap-through responses are shown when the fiber angle of the skin panel is 0°, 30°, and 60°.
There is much selective confliction in nature where selfish and rational individuals exists. Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD) game deals with this problem, and has been used to study on the evolution of cooperation in social, economic and biological systems. So far, there has been much work about the relationship of the number of players and cooperation, strategy learning as a machine learning and the effect of payoff functions to cooperation. In this paper, We attempt to investigate the cooperative coalition size according to payoff functions, and observe the relationship of localization and the evolution of cooperation in NIPD (N-player IPD) game. Experimental results indicate that cooperative coalition size increases as the gradient of the payoff function for cooperation becomes steeper than that of defector's payoff function, or as the minimum coalition size gets smaller, Moreover, the smaller the neighborhood of interaction is, the higher the cooperative coalition emerges through the evolution of population.
We have numerically modeled thermal evolution of Ulleung Island after an emplacement of magma chamber. The disk-shape magma chamber is assumed to locate at 2.9 km beneath the island and has a diameter and a thickness of 10 km and 300 (or 600) m, respectively. The geothermal gradients evaluated from the numerical modeling coincide well with the range of the geotherms (${\sim}95^{\circ}C/km$) observed from the well logging. Although there are limitations in the application of the numerical results directly to the interpretation of the observed geotherms, we believe that an existence of a hot magma chamber in molten or in solidified state is the most plausible explanation for the observed geotherms.
Target generation capacity of geothermal power generation pilot plant project through the Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) with a doublet system down to 5 km depth was estimated. Production and re-injection temperatures of geothermal fluid were assumed $160^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, respectively, based on reservoir temperature of $180^{\circ}C$ calculated from the geothermal gradient of $33^{\circ}C$ in Pohang area. In this temperature range, 0.11 of thermal efficiency of the binary generation cycle is a practical choice. Assuming flow rates of 40 kg/sec, which is possible in current EGS technology, gross power generation capacity is estimated to reach 1.848 MW. Net generation considering auxiliary power including pumping power for geothermal fluid and condensing (cooling) energy of working fluid can be 1.5 MW.
