  • Purpose - This study investigates the following two issues. First, we attempt to find the important determinants of housing investment and to identify their significance rank using survey panel data. Recently, the expansion of global uncertainty in the real estate market has directly and indirectly influenced the Korean housing market; households demonstrate a sensitive reaction to changes in that market. Therefore, this study aims to draw conclusions from understanding how the impact of financial strength of the household is related to house investment. Second, we attempt to verify the effectiveness of diverse indices of financial strength such as DTI, LTV, and PIR as measures to monitor the housing market. In the continuous housing market recession after the global crisis, the government places top priority on residence stability. However, the government still imposes forceful restraints on indices of financial strength. We believe this study verifies the utility of these regulations when used in the housing market. Research design, data, and methodology - The data source for this study is the "National Survey of Tax and Benefit" from 2007 (1st) to 2011 (5th) by the Korea Institute of Public Finance. Based on this survey data, we use panel data of 3,838 households that have been surveyed continuously for 5 years. We sort the base variables according to relevance of house investment criteria using the decision tree model (DTM), which is the standard decision-making model for data-mining techniques. The DTM method is known as a powerful methodology to identify contributory variables for predictive power. In addition, we analyze how important explanatory variables and the financial strength index of households affect housing investment with the binary logistic multi-regressive model. Based on the analyses, we conclude that the financial strength index has a significant role in house investment demand. Results - The results of this research are as follows: 1) The determinants of housing investment are age, consumption expenditures, income, total assets, rent deposit, housing price, habits satisfaction, housing scale, number of household members, and debt related to housing. 2) The impact power of these determinants has changed more or less annually due to economic situations and housing market conditions. The level of consumption expenditure and income are the main determinants before 2009; however, the determinants of housing investment changed to indices of the financial strength of households, i.e., DTI, LTV, and PIR, after 2009. 3) Most of all, since 2009, housing loans has been a more important variable than the level of consumption in making housing market decisions. Conclusions - The results of this research show that sound financing of households has a stronger effect on housing investment than reduced consumption expenditures. At the same time, the key indices that must be monitored by the government under economic emergency conditions differ from those requiring monitoring under normal market conditions; therefore, political indices to encourage and promote the housing market must be divided based on market conditions.

This paper aims to empirically assess the determinants of EV purchase intention among Vietnamese consumers. The research findings are expected to promote the consumption of electric vehicles in Vietnam. Research design, data and methodology: The quantitative research approach employed the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The sample size includes 301 respodents. Research design unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and UTAUT2. The data collection process employ the non-probability sampling. Questionaire survey consists of 24 questions given to respondents via Google Form link. Data is processed by SPSS version 20 software. Instrument of data gathering was questionnaire widely distributed in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria using Survey monkey. Data was analysed using frequencies, counts and percentages, tables and charts. Findings revealed that people rely more on radio, television, and social media for information on COVID-19. Fake news is spread by people mostly for political reasons and intention to cause panic. In Nigeria, fake news has led to disbelief of the existence of the virus thereby leading to violation of precautionary measures among the citizenry and lack of trust in the government. Concerted effort on the part of the government is required to give public enlightenment on the danger of fake news. Also, directorate of anti-fake news should be established to censor and reprimand sources of fake news. People should always check source of information to confirm its credibility and be weary of sharing unconfirmed information especially on the social media.

  • This study focuses on proposing measures for the reasonable development of offshore wind farms using the case of Norway, which was the first nation in the world to build a floating offshore wind farm of 80 MW or more. Norwegian authorities conducted a strategic environment assessment in 2012 to select offshore wind farm sites, discovered 15 potential sites, and finally decided on two designated sites in 2020. Based on various survey data such as seabirds, marine environment, and fishing activities, scientific-based spatial analysis was conducted to select additional offshore wind farm sites in line with future development plans. In addition, a government-led steering committee and advisory group have established marine spatial plans since 2002. Therefore, it will be possible to listen to and coordinate the opinions of stakeholders by using the steering committee and advisory group for offshore wind power development. By examining the case of Norway, we suggest the following policy points that can achieve carbon neutrality and develop sustainable offshore wind farms: 1. Establish a government-led steering committee and advisory group that can select potential sites for offshore wind farms by coordinating the opinions of stakeholders 2. Induce efficient and sequential offshore wind farm development by using various survey data and scientific-based spatial analysis.

It also identified different patterns of groups by their ideological inclination via a national survey on sample population over the age of twenty. The result showed the statistical significance of the relationship among information perception, purpose of information use, ideological inclination, and trust in government. The analysis result implies that the role of government should be readjusted in terms of publicness toward meta-data provider which is transparent and fair without any discrimination by individual difference and economic condition. This will increase the level of trust in government data and its utilization will be tied into the individual connectedness for social integration. The role of government as an information provider needs to establish the role of mediator which always keeps social rules and tracks down violators in a timely manner in the process of information production. With transparent information flow and fair game, the richness of information and a positive production environment will be created.

  • This paper aims at analysing the effects of venture business finance supporting programs on efficiency and productivity of the venture firms, on the basis of the data envelope analysis (DEA) using data of 406 firms in the 2013 Venture Business Detailed Survey of Small and Medium Business Administration. The conclusions are summarized as follows. First of all, the efficiency of government finance supported venture firms is higher than that other venture firms. The increase of productivity in venture firms enjoying government supporting programs is higher than that in venture business without government supporting programs, especially in the technical progress rather than in efficiency improvement. Also the R&D supporting programs for venture firms lead to an increase in productivity. Taking the above results into consideration, government's venture supporting programs are evaluated to be effective in terms of an increase of productivity and the proper scope for fragile venture firms.
