The restaurant industry in the United States can serve as a model to executives in other countries. Over the past fifty years it has developed from a fragmented industry dominated by small firms operating locally to a huge, mature industry dominated by national and international firms. 1 anticipate that this scenario will be carried throughout the globe as nations expand their economic growth and local consumers become more affluent and sophisticated. The restaurant companies able to develop superior strategies while taking advantage of the opportunities in the business environment will succeed while less sophisticated firms will be hampered by their inability to understand the strategic issues of the marketplace.
Nowadays Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a significant source of sharing project information in the construction industry. This method of sharing the information enhances the project understanding among stakeholders. Modeling of information using BIM is becoming an essential part of many construction projects around the globe. Despite rapid adoption of BIM in construction industry still, some sectors of the industry like earthwork have not yet reaped its full benefits. BIM has brought a paradigm shift through identification and integration of the roles and responsibilities of project participants on a single platform. BIM is a 3D model-based process which provides the insight into the efficient project planning and design. The 3D modeling can also be used significantly for the design of temporary structures in an earthwork project. This paper presents the quantity take-off methodology and parametric modeling technique for creating the temporary structures using 3D BIM process. A case study is conducted to implement the proposed temporary structure family design on a real site project. The study presented is beneficial for the earthwork project stakeholders to extract the relevant information using 3D BIM models in a project. It provides an opportunity to calculate the quantity of material required for a project accurately.

The rate of occurrence of intraplate earthquake events has been surveyed around the globe to ascertain the average level of intraplate seismic activities on land. Elastic response spectra corresponding to various levels of averaged (uniform) seismicity for a return period of 2475 years have then been derived along with modifying factors that can be used to infer ground motion and spectral response parameters for other return period values. Estimates derived from the assumption of uniform seismicity are intended to identify the minimum level of design seismic hazard in intraplate regions. The probabilistic seismic hazard assessment presented in the paper involved the use of ground motion models that have been developed for regions of different tectonic and crustal classifications. The proposed minimum earthquake loading model is illustrated by the case study of Peninsular Malaysia which has been identified with a minimum effective peak ground acceleration (EPGA) of 0.1 g for a return period of 2475 years, or 0.07 g for a notional return period of 475 years.

One of the concerns that have received substantial interest in the accounting field, in particular, in accounting education, is the increasing scarcity and demand for professional accountants around the globe. This study aims to investigate the effects of financial rewards (FR), parents' and peers' influence (PPIF), and benefits and cost (BCE) on students' intention to pursue a career in accounting. A quantitative, convenient random sampling approach was used, and an online survey was conducted to collect data from students studying in China. A total of 311 valid responses were used for model testing based on the theory of reasoned action and the theory of planned behavior. The findings of the study include the positive effects of FR, PPIF, and BCE on accounting career choice (ACC). This study illustrates that FR is the most dominant factor (β=0.479) for influencing ACC. Furthermore, the used factor explained 70% variation in ACC. The results of the study have implications both for accounting firms and universities whether offering or not offering accounting as a major. This study provides a global perspective, which keeps this study unique from other studies. And in this study, the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) has been used which is randomly used in accounting research.

This study investigates the relationship between cultural distance and entry mode choice, where the foreign investor firm and the host country are both from emergent economies. Within this framework, research is limited and the issue is whether companies, regardless of their specific situations, have the same strategy when they meet a high degree of uncertainty in the host environment. In this study, we focused on the influence of informal institutional factors: cultural distance, that has been extensively analyzed in international business, measured by Kogut and Singh index and defined according to Hofstede, Globe Project and Schwartz approaches. The general trend derived from prior research proves that when a company from a developed country is involved; overall more enthusiasm is shown for wholly-owned subsidiaries rather than joint venture. This result still stands validated for corporations from this emergent economy area. Our analysis of a sample of 163 FDI in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) using logistic binary regression model reveals that the foreign firms prefer to establish wholly-owned subsidiaries in the host country over entering into a joint venture with a local firm, taking into consideration the large cultural distance.

Cold regions with high air density and wind speed attract wind energy producers across the globe exhibiting its potential for wind exploitation. However, exposure of wind turbine blades to such cold conditions bring about devastating impacts like aerodynamic degradation, production loss and blade failures etc. A series of wind tunnel tests were performed to investigate the effect of icing on the aerodynamic properties of wind turbine blades. A baseline clean wing configuration along with four different ice accretion geometries were considered in this study. Aerodynamic force coefficients were obtained from the surface pressure measurements made over the test model using MPS4264 Simultaneous pressure scanner. 3D printed Ice templates featuring different ice geometries based on Icing Research Tunnel data is utilized. Aerodynamic characteristics of both the clean wing configuration and Ice accreted geometries were analysed over a wide range of angles of attack (α) ranging from 0° to 24° with an increment of 3° for three different Reynolds number in the order of 105. Results show a decrease in aerodynamic characteristics of the iced aerofoil when compared against the baseline clean wing configuration. The key flow field features such as point of separation, reattachment and formation of Laminar Separation Bubble (LSB) for different icing geometries and its influence on the aerodynamic characteristics are addressed. Additionally, attempts were made to understand the influence of Reynolds number on the iced-aerofoil aerodynamics.

Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most prevalent organisms associated with foodborne illness across the globe causing campylobacteriosis and gastritis. Many proteins of C. jejuni are still unidentified. The purpose of this study was to determine the structure and function of a non-annotated hypothetical protein (HP) from C. jejuni. A number of properties like physiochemical characteristics, 3D structure, and functional annotation of the HP (accession No. CAG2129885.1) were predicted using various bioinformatics tools followed by further validation and quality assessment. Moreover, the protein-protein interactions and active site were obtained from the STRING and CASTp server, respectively. The hypothesized protein possesses various characteristics including an acidic pH, thermal stability, water solubility, and cytoplasmic distribution. While alpha-helix and random coil structures are the most prominent structural components of this protein, most of it is formed of helices and coils. Along with expected quality, the 3D model has been found to be novel. This study has identified the potential role of the HP in 2-methylcitric acid cycle and propionate catabolism. Furthermore, protein-protein interactions revealed several significant functional partners. The in-silico characterization of this protein will assist to understand its molecular mechanism of action better. The methodology of this study would also serve as the basis for additional research into proteomic and genomic data for functional potential identification.

The spread of Omicron, a mutated version of COVID-19 across several countries is leading to the discussion of lockdown once again for curbing the spread of the new virus. In this context, this research is showing the impact of lockdown for the successful control of the COVID-19 pandemic in Saudi Arabia. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe has affected Saudi Arabia with around 2,37,803 confirmed cases within the initial 4 months of transmission. Saudi Arabia has announced a 21-day lockdown from March 23, 2020, to reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic. Machine Learning-based, Multinomial logistic regression was applied to understand the relationship between daily COVID-19 confirmed cases and lockdown in the 17 most-affected cities of KSA. We used secondary published data from the Ministry of Health, KSA daily dataset of COVID-19 confirmed case counts. These 17 cities were categorized into 4 classes based on lockdown dates. A total of three scenarios such as night lockdown, full lockdown, and no lockdown have been analyzed with the total number of confirmed cases with 4 classes. 15 out of 17 cities have shown a strong correlation with a confidence interval of 95%. These findings provide evidence that the COVID-19 pandemic may be partially suppressed with lockdown measures.

Disease caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) is sweeping the globe. There are numerous methods for identifying this disease using a chest imaging. Computerized Tomography (CT) chest scans are used in this study to detect COVID-19 disease using a pretrain Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) ResNet50. This model is based on image dataset taken from two hospitals and used to identify Covid-19 illnesses. The pre-train CNN (ResNet50) architecture was used for feature extraction, and then fully connected layers were used for classification, yielding 97%, 96%, 96%, 96% for accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, respectively. When combining the feature extraction techniques with the Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN), it produced accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-scores of 92.5%, 83%, 92%, and 87.3%. In our suggested approach, we use a preprocessing phase to improve accuracy. The image was enhanced using the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) algorithm, which was followed by cropping the image before feature extraction with ResNet50. Finally, a fully connected layer was added for classification, with results of 99.1%, 98.7%, 99%, 98.8% in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score.
In order to examine the relative accuracy of satellite observations and model reanalyses about lower stratospheric temperature trends, two satellite-observed Microwave Sounding Unit (MSU) channel 4 (Ch 4) brightness temperature data and two GCM (ECMWF and GEOS) reanalyses during 1981${\sim}$1993 have been intercompared with the regression analysis of time series. The satellite data for the period of 1980${\sim}$1999 are MSU4 at nadir direction and SC4 at multiple scans, respectively, derived in this study and Spencer and Christy (1993). The MSU4 temperature over the globe during the above period shows the cooling trend of -0.35 K/decade, and the cooling over the global ocean is 1.2 times as much as that over the land. Lower stratospheric temperatures during the common period (1981${\sim}$1993) globally show the cooling in MSU4 (-0.14 K/decade), SC4 (-0.42 K/decade) and GEOS (-0.15 K/decade) which have strong annual cycles. However, ECMWF shows a little warming and weak annual cycle. The 95% confidence intervals of the lower stratospheric temperature trends are greater than those of midtropospheric (channel 2) trends, indicating less confidence in Ch 4. The lapse rate in the trend between the above two atmospheric layers is largest over the northern hemispheric land. MSU4 has low correlation with ECMWF over the globe, and high value with GEOS near the Korean peninsula. Lower correlations (r < 0.6) between MSU4 and SC4 (or ECMWF) occur over $30^{\circ}$N latitude belt, where subtropical jet stream passes. Temporal correlation among them over the globe is generally high (r > 0.6). Four kinds of lower stratospheric temperature data near the Korean peninsula commonly show cooling trends, of which the SC4 values (-0.82 K/decade) is the largest.
