The purpose of this study was to clarify that the obesity and the body cathexis influence on brassiere and girdle attitudes. The data were collected from 263 female college students using questionnaire. The three body types; slim type (37.6%), standard type (55.6%) and obese type (6.8%) were categorized by the obesity. The results could be summarized as follows. 1. The whole body was segmented as 5 parts: leg and hip girths, abdominal & upper arm girth, face & neck, limbs length & stature and breast. The brassiere & girdle attitudes were identified as 4 factors : "avoidance of wearing". "beauty pursuit", "body-making pursuit" and "brand preference". 2. While the body cathexis and appearance interests of the slim type showed highly, those of the obese type showed lowly. 3. While the obesity and appearance interests influenced the brassiere & girdle attitudes excepting "body-making pursuit", the body cathexis: partially influenced them. This study will provide feasible marketing data and implications for activation of foundation garment industries.
The purpose of this study is to examine quantitatively the relations between the girdle pressures operated on the abdomen and buttock of body according to the increase of time and the displacement or the deformation of thorax, diaphragm, heart and stomark caused. In an erect position, the roentgen photographs of thorax and abdomen were taken on three female subjects (20~21 years old) with eutonic stomach under four different time sequence (0, 3, 6, 9 hours) of the girdle pressure. The displacement and deformation of each viscera were examined by X-ray films thus obtained. The results are as follows: 1. Thorax was not statistically significant according to the increase of time in the girdle pressure. 2. Diaphrame greatly ascended under the increase of time in the girdle pressure after 9 hours, put pressure upon the lung and heart. 3. Heart increased in the height of maximum transverse-diameter, of the left side because of ascending of diaphragm.
This paper was intended to grasp an effect of body shaping by wearing girdle using moire topography. In wearing test, four type girdle were used, panty type, long leg type, high waist type, long leg and high waist type. Subjects were ten female college student (18-24 years old), they were selected on the size of the hip girth, waist girth that are within 25~75% in percent on the National Anthropometric survey of Korea in 1997. Three-dimentional characteristic of body shaping was analyzed by the moire topograph. As a result, body shaping effect was confirmed by moire pattern and horizantal section map. In case of the comparison through the moire topography, all the subjects have an effect on body shaping in part of waist girth, abdomen, and hip. Especially backside silhouettes on hip all the ten female subjects showed hip-up effect. Long leg type girdle was smooth side line in the hip and thigh. Further study required for the effect of wearing the girdle on the body shapeability and comfort.
This study was to select the measurement points of the girdle and the all-in-one. 15 subjects (age 30-40) were chosen by % body fat to represent various physical types. Subjects tried on each garment; a girdle and a all-in-one, in turns. Measurement points in the underwear were selected according to the parts of the human body. The characteristics and the surface area of the each garment were considered carefully when the measurement points were selected. Selected measurement points on the girdle and the all-in-one were chosen from the anterior midsagittal line, the side-seam line, and the posterior midsagittal line. Four points on the girdle and four points on the all-in-one were selected as the measurement points. There was highly significant correlation between % body fat and mean garment pressure. There was no significant relationship between thickness of subcutaneous fat and mean garment pressure by measured parts.
Purpose: To evaluate the quantitative isometric muscle strength of shoulder girdle and the test reliability using by the equipment, named 'IsoTrack', selected by authors in the former studies. Methods: Thirty healthy subjects (9 men, 21 women) were recruited in two sessions, one for intratester and intertester reliability tests and the other quantitative isometric muscle strength tests. The neck flexion, extension and scapular elevation muscle strength was measured using a force measuring device as IsoTract. Results: Intraclass correlation coefficients for intratester reliability of the all subjects ranging between 0.96 and 0.97. For intertester reliability, the ICC and Pearson correlation correspond to 0.84 and 0.78. We gauged muscle strength of shoulder girdle muscles based on it and indicated quantified isometric muscle strength of women and men in left and right side. Conclusion: We concluded that there were high reiliability of isometric muscle strength of neck and shoulder girdle. Also, we gauged muscle strength of shoulder girdle muscles based on it and indicated quantified isometric muscle strength in left and right side in women and men. So this findings may assist in the measure of whole body muscle strength.
This research was intended to design an experimental girdle with thermal insulation function for adult women in their 20s. The design of the experimental girdle was based on the pattern of commercially available girdle. The final pattern of the experimental girdle was established according to the drawing equations determined based on the result of appearance evaluation. The equations were (waist circumference${\times}0.88$)/2 for waist circumference, (hip circumference${\times}0.77$)/2 for hip circumference, and (thigh circumference${\times}0.85$) for thigh circumference. In order to develop a heating device, the most effective fabric heater was adopted based on the experiments about the number of caron fibers, heater size and attachment site. Three heaters-one with a size of $14.5{\times}9.5$ cm, and the other two with the size of $8.0{\times}15.0$ cm-were attached to the areas corresponding to the lower abdomen and the hip, 5 cm below the waist. A heater was developed by connecting these heaters to a controller, 2 batteries (7.4 V 2000 mAh lithium polymer batteries) and a switch (for mode conversion between high/medium/low temperatures). The heater was integrated into the inside of the girdle, so that attachment and detachment were possible without the change of appearance. The tentative configuration plan was proposed for the development of a functional smart girdle with an excellent thermal insulation effect.
Motion at the sacroiliac joints(SIJ) has been reported in the medical literature since the mid-19th century. However, for many years authorities vie~d that no movement occurred at the sacroiliac joints and therefore were not clinically significant. Recent contributions from both the basic and clinical sciences caused a change in perception of the role of the sacroiloiac joint in low back pain(LBP). Movement within the sacroiliac joint is now generally recognized, although it is only a small amount. Controversy continues as to the type of motion available and the axes of motion, and continues as to the ability of a clinician to identify a significant sacroiliac dysfunction. Dysfunction of the pelvic girdle is complex and not easily understood. It is common to find serveral dysfunctions within the same pelvic girdle. Each needs to be individually diagnosed and appropriately treated. The diagnostic and therapeutic system designed by Philip E. Greenmam, D. O. allows the operator to deal with any combination of physical findings that are found within the pelvic girdle Restoration of pelvic girdle function within the walking cycle is a major therapeutic goal, particularly from the biomechanical postural-structural model.
Character and illuminance distribution of daylighting is very important for the architectural plan in museum. Those data show bases for exhibition space design with daylighting and play a decisive role in visual perception of articles and space aesthetic. The goal of this paper was therefore to analyze the illuminance distribution in fine art museum with 3 typical girdle skylight types which are devided according to the art of protection from glare. This Experiment proved that they had a striking contrast with regard to the ratio of daylight illumination and illuminance distribution in spite of the same purpose of those development. The girdle skylight with a translucent glass showed the strongest value of the ratio of daylight illumination, but inequable illuminance distribution in space, excepting the area of the wall. However, the latticed reflector of light refracted daylight in the direction of wall and made illuminance distribution very equable in whole space. The ratio of daylight illumination at the girdle skylight which was located at the verge of the ceiling, was highest at the upper part of the wall and was reduced gradually from there, by way of the middle and under part of the wall, to the center of space.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare activities of shoulder girdle muscles according to types of closed chain exercise in the sixties. Methods: The subjects consisted of 15 persons in their sixties. Muscle activity of the pectoralis major, deltoid middle, deltoid posterior, upper trapezius, lower trapezius, and serratus anterior were measured using electromyography according to shape of the support base and angle of shoulder flexion. According to types of closed chain exercises, muscles activities were compared by paired t-test. Significance level to verify statistical significance was .05. SPSS win (ver. 22.0) program was used for statistical analysis. Results: Muscle activities of the pectoralis major, middle deltoid, trapezius lower, and serratus anterior showed significant difference according to types of closed chain exercise (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to types of closed chain exercises of the shoulder girdle, muscle activities of the pectoralis major, deltoid middle, posterior and lower trapezius showed change of muscle activities.
This research developed a smart girdle for adult women in their 20's that has an inserted carbon weaving heater to help with relief from coldness and abdominal disease through the thermal insulation effect. A pocket of powernet fabric was attached to the inside of the girdle for the easy insertion and separation of the heating device, while the heating device was fixed to a mesh material by cotton yarn and was wrapped with elastic lining material to prevent the mechanical devices from being exposed. A set of 3 hooks was attached to the center of the back of the heating device in consideration of convenience and mobility. Whereas the switch was inserted into around the right waistband, and the battery into the inner pocket around the waist, to integrate the heating device with the girdle. The satisfaction and usability of the fabricated smart girdle was verified by having research participants wear it to evaluate the appearance change caused by the device, the inconvenience of wearing/unwearing, mobility, and the satisfactory functionality of the device. As a result, the grand mean was evaluated to be high, with appearance (4.19), mobility (4.17), and functionality (4.51) being higher than 4.00; which indicates that the heat generation function of the smart girdle is effective. It may be said that such collection and analysis of data that reflect users' opinions have value and significance in that they can be grafted onto future research on new technology as well as they contribute to taking a step forward in the rapidly increasing research of smart clothing, with the new-type clothing equipped with new function.
