Recently, The importance of a quality control for implementing 3D geospatial database has being emphasized to build a 21st century knowledge society and an ubiquitous land. The improvement of 3D geospatial database quality control through establishing an integrated quality control makes data suppliers update data efficiently and users get high quality data. The purpose of this study was to derive the improvement plan of 3D geospatial database quality control through the analyses of the existing 3D geospatial database quality control and case studies. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, we defined the concept of 3D geospatial database quality control. Secondly, we set the boundary, factors and process of 3D geospatial database quality control through classifying it in detail. Lastly, we drew improvement contents such as the quality control checklist by implementation process according to the improvement plan of 3D geospatial database implementation.

Earthquake event keeps increasing every year, and the recent cases of earthquake hazards invoke the necessity of seismic study in Korea, as geotechnical earthquake hazards, such as strong ground motion, liquefaction and landslides, are a significant threat to structures in industrial hub areas including coastal facilities. In this study, systemized framework of integrated assessment of earthquake-induced geotechnical hazard was established using advanced geospatial database. And a visible simulation of the framework was specifically conducted at two coastal facility areas in Incheon. First, the geospatial-grid information in the 3D domain were constructed with geostatistical interpolation method composed of multiple geospatial coverage mapping and 3D integration of geo-layer construction considering spatial outliers and geotechnical uncertainty. Second, the behavior of site-specific seismic responses were assessed by incorporating the depth to bedrock, mean shear wave velocity of the upper 30 m, and characteristic site period based on the geospatial-grid. Third, the normalized correlations between rock-outcrop accelerations and the maximum accelerations of each grid were determined considering the site-specific seismic response characteristics. Fourth, the potential damage due to liquefaction was estimated by combining the geospatial-grid and accelerations correlation grid based on the simplified liquefaction potential index evaluation method.

In this paper, we introduce about the implementation of geospatial database middleware for construction of next generation digital map. This middleware supports global transactions based on the distributed and heterogeneous data store circumstance, geospatial data processing which does not follow standard, global schema management, object management based UFID and large scale data process. In addition, this supports creating, managing, calling for user defined procedures that can help making business logic of middleware user. User defined procedure interface is designed using CORBA and RMI protocol. In this paper, we describe the implementation of distributed object oriented database middleware which use variable data store.
GIS (geographic information system) applications increasingly require the representation of geospatial objects with fuzzy extent and querying of time-varying information. In this paper, we Introduce a FSTDB (fuzzy spatiotemporal database) to represent and manage states and events causing changes of dynamic fuzzy objects using fuzzy set theory. We also propose the algorithms for the operators to be included in a GIS to make it able to answer queries depending on fuzzy predicates during a time interval and a method to identify the development process of objects during a certain period based on the designed database. They can be used in application areas handling time-varying geospatial data, including global change (as in climate or land cover change) and social (demographic, health, ect.) application.

Currently different local governments and research institutes have established and using DB for each purposes on the heterogeneous database. Normally physical unification method is used in order to unify this geospatial database, but this takes too much time and resources and require periodic renewal and synchronization. Therefore, this research would like to present a logical integrated unification method based on attribute information of heterogeneous database, and a system design and construction method, in order to subjugate inefficiencies from the physical unification method. Through this a system that could supply user customized geospatial database was established and verified the functionality using the road data of an actual region.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the landslide susceptibility, containing the process, which reveals spatial relationships between landslides and geospatial data sets, which occurred in Janghung area in 1998. Landslide locations were detected from remotely sensed image and field survey and topography, soil, forest, and land use data sets were constructed as a spatial database in GIS. As the landslide occurrence factors, slope, aspect, curvature and type of topography, texture, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil, type, age, diameter and density of wood and land use were used. To extract the relationship between landslides and geospatial database, likelihood ratio was calculated and compared with the result of Yongin area. Also, the landslide susceptibility index was calculated by summation of the likelihood ratio and the landslide susceptibility map was generated using the index. As a result, it is expected that spatial relationships between landslides and geospatial database is helpful to explain the characteristics of lilndslide and the landslide susceptibility map is used to reduce associated hazards, and to plan land use and construction.

The purpose of this study is to reveals spatial relationships between landslides and geospatial data set, map the landslide susceptibility using the relationships and verify the landslide susceptibility using the landslide occurrence data in Bosun area in 1998. Landslide locations were detected from aerial photography and field survey and topography, soil, forest, and land use data sets were constructed as a spatial database using GIS. As the landslide occurrence factors, slope, aspect, curvature and type of topography, texture, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil, type, age, diameter and density of wood and land use were used. Is extract the relationship between landslides and geospatial database, Bayesian probability methods, likelihood ratio and weight of evidence, were applied and the ratio and contrast value that is W$\^$+/- W$\^$-/ were calculated. The landslide susceptibility index was calculated by summation of the likelihood ratio and contrast value and the landslide susceptibility maps were generated using the index. As a result, it is expected that spatial relationships between landslides and geospatial database is helpful to explain the characteristics of landslide and the landslide susceptibility map is used to reduce associated hazards, and to plan land use and construction.

The study on the updating of the database of Geo-Spatial Information System that is necessary condition to GSIS operation have executed actively. In this study, digital orthophotos were produced by using the product of digital photogrammetry process and then multiscale digital orthophoto maps were generated tv the concept of image pyramids. The produced digital orthophoto has 2.092 meters accuracy compared to 1:5,000 topographic map. This digital orthophoto can be implemented in various Geo-Spatial Information System, providing valuable spatial reference for other objects in the database.
Geospatial database, which is the basis for Geo-Spatial Information Systems, is produced by conventional mapping methods. Recently, with increased demand for digital forms of the geospatial database, studies are carried out to automate its production. The automated mapping system is composed of the image acquisition subsystem, positioning subsystem, point referencing subsystem and the visualization subsystem. The image acquisition subsystem is the most important part of the overall production line because it is the starting point and will affect all subsequent processes. This paper presents a software analysis and design of the image acquisition subsystem. The design was carried out using the Unified Modeling Language which is a modeling method used extensively in the software engineering field.

The generalization of geospatial data is an important way in deriving a new database from an original one. The generalization of a geospatial object changes not only its geometric and aspatial attributes but also results in propagation to other objects along their relationship. We call it generalization propagation of geospatial databases. Without proper handling of the propagation, it brings about an inconsistent database or loss of semantics. Nevertheless, previous studies in the generalization have focused on the derivation of an object by isolating it from others. And they have proposed a set of generalization operators, which were intended to change the geometric and aspatial attributes of an object. In this paper we extend the definition of generalization operators to cover the propagation from an object to others. In order to capture the propagation, we discover a set of rules or constraints that must be taken into account during generalization procedure. Each generalization operator with constraints is expressed in relational algebra and it can be converted to SQL statements with ease. A prototype system was developed to verify the correctness of extended operators.
