The purpose of the study is to examine the influence of children's familiarity with a task and teachers' feedback on their problem solving performances. It was assumed that children's' problem solving performance would be different depending on the children's familiarity with a task and the feedback from teachers. The study also examined whether children's' problem solving competence would be different depending on their gender and age. The experiment was conducted with two experimental tools. The subjects were 58 children who were 5 to 6-year-old, enrolled in kindergartens in Koyang city in Kyunggi province. The collected data were processed with SPSS 11.0 program to get the average and the standard deviations, and with one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA with repeated measures. The results of the experiment are as follows; First, children's' problem solving competence was different depending on their age. Older children showed higher performance than younger children, while there's no difference in children's performance depending on their gender. Second, the teachers' feedback didn't influence children's problem solving performance. Third, children showed higher performance when familiar tasks were provided, compared to when typical tasks were provided. Finally, this study found that children's task familiarity has an influence on their problem solving performance.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences of science achievement between female- and male students in different assessment types, expecting the reconsideration of their scientific ability. to accomplish this purpose, the school science achievement score of 1,487 female- and male students in 2000 were analyzed from the perspectives of assessment methods and gender differences, achievement level and gender differences, and gender characteristics in correlation between each assessment type and total science score. The science achievement score in this study includes mi-term and final paper-and-pencil test in two semesters and performance assessment. The results are as follows. First, in the total science achievement score, whereas female students achieved significantly better than male counterparts in the 7th grade, there was no significant difference between two genders in the 8th and 9th grades. Second, as for the close-ended items, all students, regardless of their gender and grade, showed no significant difference. As for the open-ended items, whereas female students achieved significantly better than male counterparts in the 7th grade, there was no significant difference between gender in the 8th and 9th grades. As for the performance assessment, all female students, regardless of their achievement level, achieved significant better than male counterparts, which is very noteworthy. Third, in the uppermost achievement level, there was no significant difference not only in close- and open ended items but also in performance assessment. Fourth, male students' correlation between performance assessment and total science score was relatively higher than female students'. The result of this study, that female students did significantly better than male students in performance assessment, is interesting in that performance assessment is widely accepted as more reliable and valid method in measuring students' various ability than traditional paper-and-pencil test.
This research investigated young children's social interaction and task performance in dyadic collaboration. The independent variables were gender and social skill level(high/low groups). Twenty-four pairs each 4-year-old boys and 4-year-old girls(total 96 subjects) worked at a block reconstruction. Two researchers judged degree of dyadic collaboration. Data were processed by 2 way ANOVA and Pearson's product correlation. While no main effect for gender was found, the effect for social skill level(high/low groups)was significant for social interaction. There was positive correlation between social interaction and task performance.
Playwright Eugene O'Neill's expressionistic text-based approach to The Emperor Jones, with an emphasis on fixity, was at odds with African American actor Charles Gilpin's improvisational performance technique, stressing rupture, spontaneity, and discontinuity. The contemporary avant-garde performance troupe The Wooster Group likewise produces subversive and interrogative forms of identity in performing the play, which challenge the normative approach to gender, race, and an imagined orientation. The historical foundation of subversion and destabilization laid by O'Neill and Gilpin were manifold in the Wooster Group's production of The Emperor Jones, and not only formed a backdrop to it but also played a central role in the group's representation of race and even gender on the stage. In this essay, I use O'Neill's play, The Emperor Jones, a crucial example of racialized fantasies of identification, to explore how the modernist stage through the performances of Gilpin and The Wooster Group constructed racialized subjects of both its performers and audiences. Gilpin and the Wooster Group's strategies each shared a similar complexity in the portrayal of black identity in performance. Offering an examination of how ideologies of race and gender overlap in The Emperor Jones, I hope to show how each performance signifies a range of subversions and differences simultaneously and sometimes oppositionally that needs to be explored both holistically and in detail to offer a fuller picture of these remarkable attempts. Through this approach, I examine Gilpin's creative adaptations of O'Neill's text and illuminate how it is that the Wooster Group's appropriative use of blackface in their performance has come to gain critical acceptance.
The purpose of this research was intended to investigate drag queens' and drag kings' gender identity not only as a comic and desexualized drag borrowing external characteristics of the opposite sex but also as the subject visualizing and performing' the third sex'. It also aimed to examine formative aesthetic characteristics and aesthetical value of drag queen's and drag king's fashion and to confirm the functions of drag queen's and drag kins's fashion to establish, visualize and Perform the discordant sex. For this process, research steps were as follows : 1. Understanding drag, drag queen and drag king in social, psychological context as well as in gender context. 2. Finding visualized forms which drag performance interchange with mass media 3. Analyzing similarities and differences between drag queen's fashion and drag king's fashion. 4. Examining the aesthetical characteristics and the value of drag queen's and drag king's fashion. The results of characteristics of drag queen's fashion could be categorized into stereotype, mimicry, kitch, inconsistency and commercialism. And the characteristics of drag king's fashion could be divided into reality, self-consciousness, mimicry, inconsistency, subversion and multiplicity. Drag queens create plausible impressions of feminity through the use of wigs, dresses, jewelry, makeup, hormones and through &role Playing&. Similarly drag kings produce a plausible masculinity taking gay male aesthetic using suits, crotch stuffers, facial hair, and greased hair. Male and female impersonation produce very different notions of gender performance for male and female embodiment. Drag kings' performance of masculinity demands authentic property of bodies so rather nonperformative, while drag queens' performance of femininity depends on more visible and theatrical fashion.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to check whether the classification of the individual's Body Mass Index (BMI) could be predicted by analyzing the voice data constructed at the Korean medicine data center (KDC) using machine learning. Methods In this study, we proposed a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based BMI classification model. The subjects of this study were Korean adults who had completed voice recording and BMI measurement in 2006-2015 among the data established at the Korean Medicine Data Center. Among them, 2,825 data were used for training to build the model, and 566 data were used to assess the performance of the model. As an input feature of CNN, Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) extracted from vowel utterances was used. A model was constructed to predict a total of four groups according to gender and BMI criteria: overweight male, normal male, overweight female, and normal female. Results & Conclusions Performance evaluation was conducted using F1-score and Accuracy. As a result of the prediction for four groups, The average accuracy was 0.6016, and the average F1-score was 0.5922. Although it showed good performance in gender discrimination, it is judged that performance improvement through follow-up studies is necessary for distinguishing BMI within gender. As research on deep learning is active, performance improvement is expected through future research.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine psychological empowerment and awareness and performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections(HAIs) control among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses. Method: The data for this study were collected using structured questionnaires from 178 nurses working in the ICUs of four hospitals with more than 500 beds. Results: The subjects'psychological empowerment, awareness and performance of HAIs control were mean over. The subjects'psychological empowerment showed statistically significant differences depending on age, marital status, academic background, clinical career, ICU career, and position and experience in infection control among their general characteristics. Awareness of HAIs control showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, clinical career, and ICU career. Performance showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, and, ICU career. Regarding the subjects' performance of HAIs control, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between psychological empowerment and awareness. Conclusion: It was found that it is necessary to strengthen differential customized training according to the subjects'characteristics for effective HAIs control, and to strengthen the nurses'awareness of HAIs control through systematic evaluation, monitoring, and feedback, as well as continuous education and training.

This paper investigated the relationship between corporate governance mechanisms and firm performance in Vietnam. Based on a dataset of 101 HOSE-listed manufacturing firms, the results showed that CEOs' knowledge capability, gender diversity, and board size are positively associated with firm performance, whereas firm age is negatively associated. These findings suggested that firms should consider enlarging the boardrooms, but to a certain extent to avoid an inverse-U-shaped decline of performance; furthermore, firms should promote women executives' presence in a boardroom for it brings greater cultural-diversity benefits and inhibits information asymmetry. Contrary, the aging process impedes firms' growth. It depreciates their values in terms of total assets, so managers must review their assets' net value after each working year to avoid such a hardship. However, the thesis constrains itself since it did not treat the TMTs' knowledge capability equally as the CEOs' and completely excluded their treatment. Besides, it did not regard the effect of external governance mechanisms such as the supply-demand relationship, customer behavior, market imperfections, and market concentration due to data unavailability. Based on the main findings, several suggestions are set forth for firms and managers to enhance performance and minimize a poor governance mechanism's adverse consequence.

The purpose of the study was to produce resources to help develop instructional methods and programs for school science to reduce gender differences in science achievement by analyzing TIMSS-R results according to item type, benchmark, and content category. Korean male students performed higher than Korean female students and gender differences of Korean students were higher than international means in all item types including multiple-choice, short answer, and extended response type. GDI(Gender Difference Index) of Korean students was lower than international mean in top 10% benchmark but higher than international means in other benchmarks. Korean male students also exhibited higher performance than Korean female students in all content categories except scientific inquiry and the nature of science category. Regarding items that GDIs were higher than 10, the number of items belonged to life science and earth science category was relatively larger and a high percentage of them was not included in school science curriculum. In addition, the items were equally distributed in each performance category. In sum, the study showed various gender differences according to item type, benchmark, and content category. The results could be used to find appropriate instructional methods to reduce gender differences in science achievement.
Background: This study was undertaken to evaluate how gender differences affect the sensory processing by the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile(ASP) which evaluates the behavioral responses of adults to everyday sensory experiences. Methods: The study period lasted one month which was June 2009, and the study subjects were 325(three hundred twenty five) people who were healthy and reside in Chungcheong province including Daejeon. Detailed information about the study was explained to the study group and the ASP questionnaires were drawn up by them personally. Results: On average, the study group scores similarly in low registration, sensation seeking, sensory sensitivity, and sensation avoiding. According to the sensory processing abilities by gender, the group obtained scores indicating performance similar to most people in low registration, sensation seeking, and sensory sensitivity, except for sensation avoiding. Furthermore, in the taste/smell processing of "I only eat familiar foods", sensation avoiding score was higher in females than males, and in the activity level of "I find time to get away from my busy life and spend time by myself", males' sensation avoiding scored higher than females. Conclusion: In the study of differences of sensory processing abilities of adults by gender using the ASP, gender differences were revealed in the category of sensation avoiding.
