In a hypersonic vehicle to solve the heat problem generated during flight, a cooling technology is being developed which uses the endothermic effect that appears during the decomposition reaction of the mounted fuel. In this study, the decomposition reaction of n-dodecane fuel was performed using HZSM-5 as a catalyst, and the catalyst was coated on metal foam to maximize the endothermic effect of the catalytic decomposition reaction and suppress coke formation. The reactor was a stainless steel flow reactor with a outer diameter of 1.27 cm, and the reaction temperature was 550 ℃, the reaction pressure was 4 MPa, and the flow rate was 12 ml per minute. As a result of the catalytic decomposition reaction using a catalyst coated with HZSM-5 on the metal foam, the heat sink was 2887 kJ/kg as a maximum, the gas phase conversion rate was 34%, and the amount of coke produced on the metal foam decreased by about 56% as the catalyst was coated compared to the uncoated catalyst.

Fe(C) nanocapsules were prepared by the chemical vapor condensation(CVC) process using the pyrolysis of iron pentacarbonyl $(Fe(CO)_5)$. Their characterizations were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectrometer and transmission electron microscopy. The long-chained Fe(C) nanocapsules hav-ing the mean size of under 70 nm could be obtained below $1100^{\circ}C$ in different gas flow rates. The particle size of the powders was increased with increasing decomposition temperature, but it was decreased with increasing CO gas flow rate. The Fe powders produced at $500^{\circ}C$ consisted of three layers of ${\alpha}$-Fe/$Fe_3C$/amorphous phases, but it had two phase core-shell structure which consited of $Fe_3C$ phase of core and graphite of shell at $1100^{\circ}C$.
The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide was used for supplementing the oxygen during batch xanthan fermentations in a bubble column bioreactor in order to escape the oxygen transfer limitation that occurred at the high viscosity of culture broths. The xanthan production, however, was inhibited reversibly by dosing hydrogen peroxide. On the other hand, fluidized particles of glass beads with 8 mm diameter led to high gas-liquid oxygen transfer rates in three-phase fluidized beds, which resulted in higher space-time yields of the xanthan production compared to in the bubble column bioreactors.
Garbon steel(SM35C) was gas nitrocarburized at $580^{\circ}C$ in $55%N_2-40%NH_3-5%CO_2$ mixed gas atmosphere, and then the steel was induction hardened at $850^{\circ}C$. The microstructure of gas nitrocarburized surface layer was observed by optical microscope and SEM. The phase analysis was carried out by X-ray diffraction method. The mechanical properties of gas nitrocarburized SM35C steel was evaluated by hardness, wear and fatigue test. The thickness of compound and diffusion layer were increased with increasing the gas nitrocarburizing time and the densest compound layer was obtained at 3 hours gas nitrocarburizing time. In case of 15sec induction hardening after gas nitrocarburizing, the surface hardness was decreased from 800Hv to 630Hv owing to the decomposition of compound layer, but wear resistance was increased because of increased hardness of diffusion layer. The fatigue strength of induction hardened steel after gas nitrocarburizing, $58kgf/mm^2$, was higher than $41.5kg/mm^2$ of gas nitrocarburized steel and $45kg/mm^2$ of induction hardened steel, respectively.

The carbon-coated Si/Cu powder has been prepared by mechanical ball milling and hydrocarbon gas decomposition methods. The phase of Si/Cu powder was analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), dispersive Raman spectroscopy, electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The carbon-coated Si/Cu powders were used as anode active material for lithium-ion batteries. Their electrochemical properties were investigated by charge/discharge test using commercial LiCo$O_2$ cathode and lithium foil electrode, respectively. The surface phase of Si/Cu powders consisted of carbon phase like the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with a spacing layer of 0.35 nm. The carbon-coated Si/Cu/graphite composite anode exhibited a higher capacity than commercial graphite anode. However, the cyclic efficiency and the capacity retention of the composite anode were lower compared with graphite anode as cycling proceeds. This effect may be attributed to some mass limitations in LiCo$O_2$ cathode materials during the cycling.

Analysis model for the two-phase catalytic reactor is presented. With the progress in development of micro thermofluidic devices, needs fur understanding of the phenomena in two phase reaction in cm scale has been arisen. To investigate thermal and reactive performance of down scaled two phase reactor simple analysis model that is a kind of lumped flow model is proposed. Analysis model presented is based on the experiment on mm scale model reactor. Target experiment is catalytic decomposition of 70wt% hydrogen peroxide with existence of perovskite L $a_{0.8}$S $r_{0.2}$Co $O_3$ catalyst. It is composed of balance equations of mass and energy. Each phase is considered to be a species fur the simplicity. Axial diffusion and transversal distribution of properties are neglected. Two phase catalytic reaction is modeled as successive gasification of liquid lump around catalyst and reaction in gas phase. Heat transfer is modeled by model function ofNu number. Modeled Nu is expressed as Nu=N $u_{0}$ (1+ $a_1$( $a_2$$T^{-}$$a_3$)exp( $a_4$$T^{-1}$)exp( $a_{5}$ z). Transfer coefficients are determined by the comparison of experimental results. With the model, heat transfer characteristics are investigated. Also by the mass transfer coefficient, characteristics in mass transfer is investigated. With the result basic understanding on design and analysis of mm scale two-phase reactive device is obtained. Also it can be further applied to micro scale reactive device fabricated by micromachining.ing..

Tantalum carbo-nitride($T_aC_xN_y$) films were deposited with chemical vapor deposition(CVD) using tert-butylimido tris-diethylamido tantalum (TBTDET, $^tBu-N=Ta-(NEt_2)_3$, $Et=C_2H_5$, $^tBu=C(CH_3)_3$) between $350^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$ with argon as a carrier gas. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR)spectroscopy was used to study the thermal decomposition behavior of TBTDET in the gas phase. When the temperature was increased, C-H and C-N bonding of TBTDET disappeared and the peaks of ethylene appeared above $450^{\circ}C$ in the gas phase. The growth rate and film density of $T_aC_xN_y$ film were in the range of 0.1nm/min to 1.30nm/min and of $8.92g/cm^3$ to $10.6g/cm^3$ depending on the deposition temperature. $T_aC_xN_y$ films deposited below $400^{\circ}C$ were amorphous and became polycrystal line above $500^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed that the $T_aC_xN_y$ film was a mixture of TaC, graphite, $Ta_3N_5$, TaN, and $Ta_2O_5$ phases and the oxide phase was formed from the post deposition oxygen uptake. With the increase of the deposition temperature, the TaN phase was increased over TaC and $Ta_3N_5$ and crystallinity, work function, conductivity and density of the film were increased. Also the oxygen uptake was decreased due to the increase of the film density. With the increase of the TaC phase in $T_aC_xN_y$ film, the work function was decreased to 4.25eV and with the increase of the TaN phase in $T_aC_xN_y$ film,it was increased to 4.48eV.

The Sulfur-Iodine (SI) thermochemical hydrogen production process is one of the most promising thermochemical water splitting technologies. In the integrated operation of the SI process, the $O_2$ produced from a $H_2SO_4$ decomposition section could be supplied directly to the Bunsen reaction section without preliminary separation. A $HI_x$ ($I_2+HI+H_2O$) solution could be also provided as the reactants in a Bunsen reaction section, since the sole separation of $I_2$ in a $HI_x$ solution recycled from a HI decomposition section was very difficult. Therefore, the Bunsen reaction using $SO_2-O_2$ mixture gases in the presence of the $HI_x$ solution was carried out to identify the effect of $O_2$. The amount of $I_2$ unreacted under the feed of $SO_2-O_2$ mixture gases was little higher than that under the feed of $SO_2$ gas only, and the amount of HI produced was relatively decreased. The $O_2$ in $SO_2-O_2$ mixture gases also played a role to decrease the amount of a impurity in $HI_x$ phase by only striping effect, while that in $H_2SO_4$ phase was hardly affected.
There exist scaling relations that link the mass of supermassive black holes with both the velocity dispersion and the mass of the central stellar cusp of their host galaxies. This implies that these two components grow in tandem. Feedback from actively accreting supermassive black holes (AGN), in the form of multi-phase gas outflows, has been argued to be the agent of this co-evolution. Here we employ the powerful GMOS integral field spectroscopy unit on the 8.2m Gemini-North telescope to investigate ionized gas outflows of luminous Type 2 AGN in the local Universe (z<0.1). Our sample of 6 galaxies is drawn from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and was selected based on their [OIII] dust-corrected luminosity (>1042 erg/s) and signatures of outflows in the [OIII] line profile of their spatially integrated SDSS spectra. These are arguably the best candidates to explore AGN feedback in action since they are < 1% of a large local type 2 AGN SDSS sample selected based on their [OIII] kinematics. We combine a careful spectral decomposition of the [OIII] and $H{\alpha}$ line profiles with spatial information on ~0.5kpc scales to understand the outflow kinematics and energetics in these objects. We find clear evidence for strong outflows in [OIII] and occasionally $H{\alpha}$ that are clearly driven by the ionizing radiation of the AGN. We kinematically and spatially decompose outflowing and rotating ionized gas components. We find [OIII] to be a better tracer of AGN outflows, while $H{\alpha}$ appears to be strongly affected by both stellar rotation and outflows induced by ongoing star formation. The observed kinematics and spatial distribution of the ionized gas imply a large opening angle for the outflow. Finally, we find the projected outflow velocity to decrease as a function of distance, while its dispersion shows a more complex structure with a potentially initially increasing trend (out to 0.5-1kpc distances).

The spinel $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders were synthesized using 0.2 $M-FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_{2}O$ and 0.5 M-NaOH by oxidation in air and the spinel $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders were synthesized at 480 $^{\circ}C$ for 12 h in air by a sol-gel method using manganese acetate and lithium hydroxide as starting materials. The synthesized $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders were mixed at portion of 5, 10, 15 and 20 wt% of $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders using a ball-mill. The mixed catalysts were dried at room temperature for 24 hrs. The mixed catalysts were reduced by hydrogen gas at 350 $^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The carbon dioxide decomposition rates of the mixed catalysts were 90% in all the mixed catalysts but the decomposition rate of carbon dioxide was increased with adding $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders to $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders.
