This paper proposes a fuzzy dual method for analyzing long-term transmission system expansion planning problem considering ambiguities of the power system using fuzzy lineal programming. Transmission expansion planning problem can be formulated integer programming or linear programming with minimization total cost subject to reliability (load balance). A long-term expansion planning problem of a grid is very complex, which have uncertainties fur budget, reliability criteria and construction time. Too much computation time is asked for actual system. Fuzzy set theory can be used efficiently in order to consider ambiguity of the investment budget (economics) for constructing the new transmission lines and the delivery marginal rate (reliability criteria) of the system in this paper. This paper presents formulation of fuzzy dual method as first step for developing a fuzzy Ford-Fulkerson algorithm in future and demonstrates sample study. In application study, firstly, a case study using fuzzy integer programming with branch and bound method is presented for practical system. Secondly, the other case study with crisp Ford Fulkerson is presented.

A new technique using integer programming based on fuzzy multi-criteria function is proposed for
generator maintenance scheduling. Minimization of maintenance delay cost and maximization of supply
reserve power are considered for fuzzy multi-criteria function To obtain an optimal solution for gen-
,:rator maintenance scheduling under fuzzy environment, fuzzy multi-criteria integer programming is
)used. In the maintenance scheduling, a characteristic feature of the presented approach is that the crisp conaitraints
with uncertainty can be taken into account by using fuzzy set theory and so more flexible solution
Ian he obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by the simulation results.

This paper presents four process models for machining processes : 1) an economical mathematical model of machining process, 2) a prediction model for surface roughness, 3) a decision model for fuzzy cutting conditions, and 4) a judgment model of machinability with automatic selection of cutting conditions. Each model was developed the economic machining, and these models were applied to theories widely studied in industrial engineering which are nonlinear programming, computer simulation, fuzzy theory, and neural networks. The results of this paper emphasize the human oriented domain of a nonlinear programming problem. From a viewpoint of the decision maker, fuzzy nonlinear programming modeling seems to be apparently more flexible, more acceptable, and more reliable for uncertain, ill-defined, and vague problem situations.

This paper illustrates a new method to solve the fuzzy goal programming (FGP) problem. It is proved that the FGP proposed by Narasimhan can be solved on the basis of linear programming(LP) model. Narasimhan formulated the FGP problem as a set of $S^{K}$LP problems, each containing 3K constraints, where K is the number of fuzzy goals/constraints. Whereas Hanna formulated the FGP problem as a single LP problem with only 2K constraints and 2K + 1 additional variables. This paper presents that the FGP problem can be transformed with easy into a single LP model with 2K constraints and only one additional variables. And we propose extended FGP :(1) FGP with weights associated with individual goals, (2) FGP with preemptive prioities. The extended FGP has a framework that is identical to that of conventional goal programming (GP), such that the extended FGP can be applied with fuzzy concept to the all areas where GP can be applied.d.

In designing fuzzy model, we encounter a major difficulty in the identification of an optimized fuzzy rule base, which is traditionally achieved by a tedious-and-error process. This paper presents an approach to automatic design of optimal fuzzy rule bases for modeling using evolutionary programming. Evolutionary programming evolves simultaneously the structure and the parameter of fuzzy rule base a given task. To check the effectiveness of the suggested approach, 3 examples for modeling are examined, and the performance of the identified models are demonstrated.
This paper develops a comparatively time-efficient methodology for performing seismic fragility analysis of the reinforced concrete (RC) buildings in the presence of uncertainty sources. It aims to appraise the effectiveness of any variation in the material's mechanical properties as epistemic uncertainty, and the record-to-record variation as aleatory uncertainty in structural response. In this respect, the fuzzy set theory, a well-known 𝛼-cut approach, and the Genetic Algorithm (GA) assess the median of collapse fragility curves as a fuzzy response. GA is requisite for searching the maxima and minima of the objective function (median fragility herein) in each membership degree, 𝛼. As this is a complicated and time-consuming process, the authors propose utilizing the Gene Expression Programming-based (GEP-based) equation for reducing the computational analysis time of the case study building significantly. The results indicate that the proposed structural analysis algorithm on the derived GEP model is able to compute the fuzzy median fragility about 33.3% faster, with errors less than 1%.

In real world, the project managers handle conflicting goals that govern the use of resources within the stipulated time and budget with required quality and safety. These conflicting goals are required to be optimized simultaneously by the project managers in the framework of fuzzy aspiration levels. The fuzzy linear programming model proposed herein helps project managers to minimize total project costs, completion time, and crashing costs considering indirect costs, contractual penalty costs etc by practically charging them in terms of direct cost of the project. A case study of bituminous pavement under construction is considered to demonstrate the feasibility of applying the proposed model for optimization of project parameters. Consequently, the proposed model yields an efficient compromise solution and the decision maker's overall degree of satisfaction with multiple fuzzy goal values. Additionally, the proposed model provides a systematic decision-making framework, enabling decision maker to interactively modify the fuzzy data and model parameters until a satisfactory solution is obtained. The significant characteristics that differentiate the proposed model with other models include, flexible decision-making process, multiple objective functions, and wide-ranging decision information.
This paper introduces a new multi-product multi-period multi-objective aggregate production planning problem. The proposed problem is modeled using multi-objective mixed-integer mathematical programming. Three objective functions, including minimizing total cost, maximizing customer services level, and maximizing the quality of end-product, are considered, simultaneously. Several constraints such as quantity of production, available time, work force levels, inventory levels, backordering levels, machine capacity, warehouse space and available budget are also considered. Some parameters of the proposed model are assumed to be qualitative and modeled using fuzzy sets. Then, a fuzzy goal programming approach is proposed to solve the model. The proposed approach is applied on a real-world industrial case study of a color and resin production company called Teiph-Saipa. The approach is coded using LINGO software. The efficacy and applicability of the proposed approach are illustrated in the case study. The results of proposed approach are compared with those of the existing experimental methods used in the company. The relative dominance of the proposed approach is revealed in comparison with the experimental method. Finally, a data dictionary, including the way of gathering data for running the model, is proposed in order to facilitate the re-implementation of the model for future development and case studies.
In order to deal with the classification problems of type-2 fuzzy training samples on generalized credibility space. Firstly the type-2 fuzzy training samples are reduced to ordinary fuzzy samples by the mean reduction method. Secondly the definition of strong fuzzy linear separable data for type-2 fuzzy samples on generalized credibility space is introduced. Further, by utilizing fuzzy chance-constrained programming and classic support vector machine, a support vector machine based on type-2 fuzzy training samples and established on generalized credibility space is given. An example shows the efficiency of the support vector machine.
In this paper, multi-objective models for designing 3D trajectory of horizontal wells are developed in a fuzzy environment. Here, the objectives of minimizing the length of the trajectory and the error of entry target point are fuzzy in nature. Some parameters, such as initial value, end value, lower bound and upper bound of the curvature radius, tool-face angle and the arc length of each curve section, are also assumed to be vague and imprecise. The impreciseness in the above objectives have been expressed by fuzzy linear membership functions and that in the above parameters by triangular fuzzy numbers. Models have been solved by the fuzzy non-linear programming method based on Zimmermann [1] and Lee and Li [2]. Models are applied to practical design of the horizontal wells. Numerical results illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the fuzzy models.
