The purpose of this study was analyze how korean adult women\`s swimming suit buying behavior varied according to consumer characteristics. Especially, it was intended to provide basic materials for swimming suit product development and quality improvement appropriate to consumer characteristics with a focus on product evaluation criteria. Questionnaire research was conducted for 850 adult women resident in Seoul, to whom questionnaire were distributed and who were asked to complete their questionnaires. 1. As for buying motive, of swimming suit buying behavior, it was shown that the highest proportion of adult women bought their new swimming suit because their old swimming suit was wornout and most adult women tended to buy their new swimming suit or their own will rather than at others\` suggestion. 2. As for the source of information at a time. of swimming suit purchase, adult women collected information from the product on display most and bought their swimming suit in a planned way in relation to the degree of purchase planning. 3. As for product evaluation criteria, adult women showed the high scores in order of the type and quality of material, activity and functionalism, dimensions and fitness. 4. In many cases actual swimming suit purchasers were the adult women who bought their swimming suit, and they used the department store or the large shopping center as the place of purchasing the swimming suit. Its reason was that the department store or the large shopping center had a diverse assortment of products. As for the degree of their travelling companion\`s influence, it was found that most adult women were influenced by their travelling companions when purchasing their swimming suits. 5. As for the level of satisfaction with swimming suit purchase, it was shown that adult women were generally satisfied with their swimming suit purchase. It was found that their level of satisfaction was higher in order of activity and functionalism, the type and quality of swimming suit materials, and ease in washing management while they showed the low level of satisfaction with price, the fastness of color to washing, light and detergents and durability.

본 연구는 20세기 초기의 서양 흔들의자를 분석하여 조형적, 실용적 관점에서 양식적 특징을 학문적으로 규명하고, 오늘날 우리나라 흔들의자의 설계 및 제작의 기초자료를 제공하는 것에 목적이 있다. 20세기 전반의 서양 흔들의자(1925~1945년 제작)는 형태가 기능을 따라야 한다는 단순한 기능주의의 이념을 적극적으로 표현하였다. 원목을 활용한 흔들의자는 표면장식을 배제하였고, 강철관 프레임의 흔들의자는 검정색 가죽의 업홀스터리를 즐겨 사용하면서 노출된 구조미를 대담하게 표현하였다. 또 강철관을 통하여 가구의 경량화가 이루어졌고 곡선미 있는 새로운 양식이 출현하였다. 근대 흔들의자의 구조는 양식과 기능적 이유에서 모두 중요하게 되었다. 디자이너들은 강철관과 목재 프레임의 노출된 구조를 통합성 및 합리성과 결부 시켜 디자인의 평등주의 스타일을 만들어냈다. 특히 이 시기에는 밝고 대담한 색상의 업홀스터리와 목재 프레임으로 구성된 흔들의자가 근대적 특징의 단순한 형태로 다양하게 표현되었다.

This study attemps to rethink assumption that the family can be 'a heaven' to everyone in a harsh world through theoretical review Functionalists insist that people feel emotional secure through family life. However this pers-pective sees only the one side of the family experience ignoring the other side of its tension and conflicts in the family. From marxist perspective the family experiences may not be the same among different social classes due to their economic inequality, It might be that middle class family is more likely to experiences emotional secure than any other social class. Feminists have challenged prevalent assumptions about the family. They see that women are oppressed by the family. These results mean that marxist and feminist perspectives compensate for the limitation of functionalism. I'd like to propose that marxist and feminist perspectives can be used framewrok for the family study.

After 1960s, a radical change was taken place in the modern urban theories which were developped by many architects and planners like Ebenezer Howard, Tony Garnier, Le Corbusier, Ludwig Hiberseimer, and Patrick Abercrombie. Many contemporary architects like Kevin Lynch, Aldo Rossi, Christopher Alexander, Colin Rowe, Rem Koolhaas, and Bernard Tschumi have a view that modern urban theories lost their abilities to organize and control new realities so that new urban theories was needed in order to cope with urban problems in the 1960s. In this study, we are to examine contemporary urban theories in comparison with modern urban theories and to clarify the role of discourse of language in its emergence. In consequence we can detect four main themes in the process of transformation from modern urban theories to contemporary urban theories : from functionalism to formalism, from historicism to archeology, from space to placeness, and from hierarchical organization to network. And we can prove that such themes basically depend on the discourse of language.

Black froak coat, white shirts, top hat and cane has been the symbol of gentlemen in 19th and early of 20th century. The pattern invented by Savile Row in London prevailed whole England. Such a pattern has been the standard form for two hundred years all over the word, although it was replaced with a functionalism which developed in Italy and America at the end of 20th century. The clothes of gentlemen was developed by several factors ; English people respect a tradition. The clothes was practical, since the weather in England was bad. The success of Industrial Revolution made England wealthy. Various special clothes in sports, for example, riding, criket, golf and tennis also contribute the modern gentlemen clothes with advance tailoring technique. The change of gentlemenship with social environment, from Regency dandy, Romantic gentlemen to Muscular Christianity, was studied. Idial gentlemenship and development its clothes which is now the standard of modern men's wear also studied.

This paper analyzes the parallelism between the art trend and the fashion. As a representative case, we consider the Modernism and the Flapper look. The Modernism rejected the tradition of the past and pursued something new. This trend was in parallel with the fashion called flapper look which was against the tradition and made drastic change. The factors which represent the spirit of the age the Modernism are the simplicity, the rejection of the tradition, the individualism and the subjectivity, the functionalism, the fragmentation of the self, and the straight line. We discuss the fashion style of the flapper look in terms of these factors.

Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall is one of most prominent architecture of Hans Scharoun, which is known as the fine combination of the functionalism as an important factor in modern architecture and the hi-developed technology Moreover, the plan and spatial planning of the concert hall is famous for its evolutionary approach compared to other traditional concert halls. The objective of this paper is to examine forms and organic system of functions of this concert hall in order to re-evaluate it's historical meanings in our modern architecture history, The current study will also look into how the personal background of Hans Scharoun has influenced his design in various ways, especially the inside of lobby and auditorium of Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall.

Since the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century, the production system adopted mechanization and mass production to popularize and standardize overall society. The architectural space removed basic desire of men on the decoration to neglect historical and regional continuity of the architecture and to make uniform designs, so that human sensibility and emotion were excluded. The architectural space had arbitrary and functionalism features in accordance with such a social change to display abstract space having no personality. The limitation expanded value of the space that was not lot possession and residence but for communication with men to express object factors. However, the object factors of the space were expressed in each factor consisting of either material factors or non-material factors. This study investigated interaction of the space by both expressive interaction and potential interaction to find out key words for making frames of the investigation and to examine cases comprehensively. The purpose of the study was to recover relations between the space and men in horizontal way and mutual communication and to present possibility integrating men and space.

One of the big difference between Aalto and other modem architects lies in an attitude that Aalto went beyond the principle of dogmatic functionalism. As an architect of Northern Europe, Aalto made unique architecture that showed both the language of modem architecture and vernacular architecture. He presented the best example which showed modernity in architecture without losing the meaning of the context including site, region and cultural tradition. With this background, Aalto developed his own typological design approach. As Wolfsburg church was designed in his prime of time, it showed the origin and evolutionary process of religious architecture as well as general features of Aalto's design. Clustered site plan, dynamic space of interior, the adequate control of natural light are representative characteristics found in Aalto's religious architecture. Wolfsburg church also demonstrate these features in more specific way including the continuity of wall and ceiling that showed spatial dynamics, free opening of wall which reflects on functions, and careful adjust of natural light. As a result, Aalto showed his typological design strategy that added new design ideas to the accumulated design vocabularies in the design of Wolfsburg church.
