현대 병원건축에서 나타나는 구조주의적 경향에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Trend on Structuralism Appeared in the Contemporary Hospital Architecture)

  • Structuralism on the architecture have been appeared in the middle of 20th Century against Functionalism. The hospital architecture which is a representation of functionalism architecture couldn't be an exception in the stream of this change. This study doesn't regard the hospital architecture as a specific area limited by Functionalism but as a general area of the architecture. This study analyze the features of the form and system on the hospital which is affected by Structuralism. Then by the analysis of the features on the change of a native hospital, it will be interpreted that a native hospital would be adapted with the formation of Structuralism.

  • The aim of this study is to discover the organic expression principles of the 20C. Architecture. As a result, first, the organic expression principles was organised in six categories, a. naturalism b. neo-naturalism, c. realism, d. abstractionism, e. regionalism, f. functionalism. Second, among the organic expression principles, the naturalism, the neo-naturalism and the abstractionism were the most dominant organic expression principles of the 20C. Architecture. Third, from 1960, the functionalism have become one of the most dominant organic expression of the 20C. Architecture.

  • 본 연구는 일본 건축가 단게 겐조(丹下健三)의 건축에서 1960년대를 기점으로 나타났던 중요한 변화에 대해 그 원인과 결과를 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 일본의 초기 현대건축을 성공적으로 이끌었던 단게는 1960년 무렵부터 일본의 새로운 시대, 새로운 건축을 위해 자신이 추구했던 기존의 기능주의적 경향에서 벗어나 구조주의적 방법을 제시했다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 단게가 1960년대 이후 지향했던 구조주의적 경향이 이전 시기의 기능주의적 경향으로부터 어떤 발전과 변화를 이루어 결과적으로 어떤 차이를 보이는지, 또한 구조주의적 경향으로의 변화에 영향을 미친 원인들은 무엇인지 등에 대해 연구한다. 결론적으로 단게의 이론은 기존 기능주의의 개념을 부정하는 대안의 제시라기보다는 기능주의와 구조주의 모두를 포괄하는 것으로서 기능요소와 그 구조화를 통해 오히려 기존의 기능주의가 가졌던 단점을 보완하면서 효율적인 기능의 재정비를 이루었다고 할 수 있다.

  • 루이스 설리번은 "형태는 기능을 따른다"라고 주장했다. 기능이라는 것은 사용자가 제품이나 공간을 사용함에 있어서 가장 원초적으로 필요한 요소 중에 하나이며, 공간 및 건축 분야에서의 "기능"은 그것의 형태를 결정하는 가장 중요한 요소의 의미를 가지고 있다. 이렇게 "기능주의"의 관점에서 기능주의가 추구하는 중요한 요소들이 어떻게 그것의 형태와 관계를 갖는 지를 확인하기 위해서 토요 이토의 작품을 선정하였다. 1970년 초반에서 현재까지 진행된 그의 작품 중에서 공간 및 건축의 구조, 재질 및 공간의 형식을 쉽게 파악할 수 있도록 소규모의 주거 공간 프로젝트를 선정하여 분석하였다. 공간 및 건축의 구조와 표피를 재질의 특성으로 분류하고 공간의 개방성의 강도에 따른 분류를 진행하였다. 결과적으로 기능을 추구하는 공간 및 건축은 기능이라는 요소를 부각하기 위해서 전체적인 장식을 배제하고 그 기능의 효율성을 최대한으로 추구할 수 있는 방법을 사용하였다. 이토 토요의 소규모 주거 공간에서 발견되는 특징은 형태의 정형화 및 단순화, 공간의 개방성, 각 요소의 다목적성 활용성으로 정의할 수 있다.

  • This research analyzed the contents of the elementary and middle school home economics textbooks within the 7th Curriculum from two theoretical Perspectives: structural functionalism and healthy family. A quantitative and in-depth content analysis was carried out with the five elements of family structure, family role, family relation, communication, dating and pregnancy. A healthy family Perspective was found in relation to the elements of family type and family role from the in-depth analysis of the elementary school practical arts textbook. In the middle school textbooks, the five elements reflected a strong structural-functionalist tendency. In both levels, the quantitative content analysis indicated that a structural-functionalist viewpoint was prevalent in the graphical components of the textbooks, including pictures, diagrams and graphs.

  • For the past few decades functionalism have dominated the epistemological arena in organizational science. However, the positivist-inspired movement of functionalism have proved inadequate for explaining the radical transformations of organizations. During the last decade dialectical theory has been starting to be heard. This paper identifies the dialectic as the unifying principle of a broad and diffuse tradition of thought. Beginning with a excavation of the philosophical foundations of dialectical theory in the thought of Kant, Hegel, and Marx, this paper goes through the various twists and the turns of the dialectic in the major twentieth-century movements of neomarxism, phenomenology, and critical theory. Also, this paper presents the implications of the dialectical approach in organization science. The discipline of organization theory has been imprisoned by its functionalism, therefore, stimulating an awareness through which it can begin to set itself free has become imperative. Dialectical theory, be cause it is essentially a process perspective, focuses on the dimension currently missing in much organizational thought, It opens analysis to the processes through which actors carve out and stabilize a sphere to the processes through which actors carve out and stabilize a sphere of rationality and those through which such rationalized spheres dissolve.

  • To date, Italian fashion rans the top even its rise is far behind Paris and New York. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the aesthetic characteristics of the italian fashion through two representative designers who contributed to italian fashion. Italy had unique industrial system and craftsmanship from the history and sense of the beauty and the uniqueness from the culture. After the World War II, Italy started to produce elegant sportswears influenced by the progressive manufacturing techniques and practical culture of America. Italian fashion of 'easy elegance' is spearheaded by Vesace and Armani. The aesthetic characteristics of Italian fashion which are shown in the artworks of them are as follows. First, the characteristics of Versace dated from southern sensibility are sensualism, expressionism, historicism. 1) Sensualism: tight silhouette, overexposure, glamorous form, brilliant color, fabric showing femininity, gaudy accessaries 2) Expressionism: brilliant print and color, trimmings and accessaries 3) Historicism: form and motifs that are shown in the historical costume Second, the characteristics of Armani succeeded from northern tailoring are purism, functionalism, and multi-culturism. 1) Purism: clean lines, architectural and geometric forms, natural body line, neutral tones, luxurious fabric 2) Functionalism: functional form, neutral tone, natural fabrics 3) Multi-culturism: design and motif inferred from ethnic costume As such. competition between two different groups made it possible that Italian fashion occupies a special place in the international fashion system.

근대건축의 개념에 대한 비판적 소고 -기능(술)주의, 형식주의, 예술주의와 전망- (Mapping the Concept of Modernism in Architecture -Functionalism, Formalism and Artistic Avantgardism-)

  • Modernism in architecture is a very complex and contradictory phenomena. So much so that it has been defined in various ways throughout the history, depending on one's position in the cultural and historical circumstances. It is thus necessary to map out the various concepts of modernism and their relationships in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of modern architecture. This paper attempts to define the various positions as functionalism, formalism and artistic avant-gardism, and to trace their history from the early twentieth century to the present. The change of the concept of modernism from functionalism to artistic avant-gardism seems a logical process in the history of western modem culture. The tendency of contemporary architecture to be more abstract and self referential artistic practice reflects the fragmentation of modern culture and the separation of art and technology. The validity of this position, of course, depends on how one evaluates the role of modern art in the situation of modern culture. It could be viewed either negatively or positively. However, this position is problematic in that it disregards the fundamental differences between architecture and other arts and distanced architecture farther from its material base. Given this historical perspective on the concept of modernism, modernism in Korea should not viewed simply identical to the western modernism, nor should western modernism be imported uncritically. The characteristics of her modernization and their differences from the west should be considered, along with the different status and role of architecture in korean modern society.

Philosophical Modernity Rooted in Modern Movement with Furniture

  • This study explored the philosophical Modernity with the Enlightenment in relation to cultural and aesthetic modernism rooted in Modern furniture, which directly reflected modern culture and society with rationality, science, individualism, progressive, universal truths, etc, using qualitative analysis about the related literature as the principal methodology. A fundamental philosophy of the modern furniture influenced by Industrial Revolution is that the dictates of function and industrial technology must be decided by form. The theory and practice of the International Style in modern furniture came from the modern aesthetics in the philosophy of Modernity. As a result, as influenced through the Enlightenment project and the relationship of individual to society in relation to cultural and aesthetic modernism, and the three modern movements with furniture, which are Arts and Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco, represented the beginning style of modern furniture design toward functionalism or minimalism.
