Cleidocranial dysplasia(CCD) is a congenital disorder of skeletal and dental abnormality, which is a mesodermal dysfunction influencing many tisssues and organs. Skeletal abnormalities in CCD are delayed closure of cranial suture and fontanelle, presence of wormian bone and clavicle aplasia. CCD also has an effect on long bones, phalanges, spine, pelvis, muscles, and central nervous system. Dental manifestations include retention of deciduous teeth, multiple supernumerary teeth, delayed eruption or impaction of permanent teeth and formation of cysts around nonerupted teeth. However, due to lack of any substansive medical or physical disability, diagnosis is often late, thereby causing masticatory and psychological problems caused by delayed eruption of permanent teeth after exfoliation of deciduous teeth. For this reason, CCD requires early diagnosis, and the patient's appearance must be improved. Also, provision for a functional masticatiory mechanism by treatment of surgical removal of supernumerary teeth followed by orthodontic eruption of the natural permanent teeth at an adequate time is necessary.

Anterior openbite is defined as the lack of contacts between the functional occluding teeth on vertical line at centric occlusion and classified into functional and skeletal anterior openbite based on its causes and characteristics. Anterior openbite causes masticatory, speech, and esthetic problems in the growing children and difficulties in diagnosis, treatment, and the prediction of its prognosis. We are reporting on the treatment of anterior openbite in the growing children and the results follow as : 1. In the growing children with anterior openbite, the overbite could be increased by the treatment according to its causes and characteristics. 2. The prognosis is not determined by the presence or severity of oral habit but the skeletal tendency of the patient.

Ghrelin belongs to the family of a gut-brain hormone that promotes food intake and controls energy balance. Recently, it has also been shown to regulate bone formation directly. Dental tissue shares several functional, developmental and anatomical similarities with bone, and in the present study we have investigated the presence of ghrelin in 44 human teeth using immunocytochemistry and radioimmunoassay. Both methods showed that the hormone is present in canines and molars, mainly in the odontoblasts but also in the pulp. Ghrelin could potentially play interesting physiological roles in teeth.
PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the periodontal and prosthodontic complications of multiple freestanding implants in the posterior jaws for up to 1 year of function. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Eight patients received 20 implants posterior to canines. Two or more implants were consecutively inserted to each patient. Single crowns were delivered onto the implants. Marginal bone loss, implant mobility, probing depth, and screw loosening were examined to evaluate the clinical success of such restorations for maximum 1 year of functional loading. RESULTS. All the implants performed well during the observation period. Neither periodontal nor prosthodontic complications were found except a slight porcelain chipping. While the marginal bone level was on average 0.09 mm lower around the implant after 6 months of loading, it was 0.15 mm higher after 1 year. CONCLUSION. Within the limits of this investigation, separate single-tooth implant restorations to replace consecutive missing teeth may clinically function well in the posterior jaw.

Impaction of the tooth can cause functional and esthetic problems, so early intervention is critical. This report describes two cases of orthodontic traction of impacted mandibular canine and mandibular premolar teeth using a modified mandibular lingual arch soldered with traction hooks rather than a conventional orthodontic appliance. By planning the position and shape of the traction hooks with consideration for the three-dimensional position and angulation of the impacted teeth, clinicians can apply the intended direction and magnitude of traction force. Furthermore, this appliance can be used for multiple impacted teeth in various locations within the mandibular arch by modifying the position and shape of the traction hooks.
A 23 year-old female with skeleto-dentoalveolar protrusion of maxilla, minor broken contact points between anterior teeth, and missing of lower 1st molars, has been treated with multibanded edgewise technique. After treatment of 14 months, she has gained functional overbite-overjet relationship and facial harmony due to the retraction of upper anterior teeth. Root resorption was slight. Especially, us ing the space of missed lower 1st molars instead of extracting lower premolars, expected and favorable results were obtained.
Three patients who had Angle's Class II Division 1 malocclusion were treated by Bioprogressive therapy. In spite of their occlusions, the 3 patients did not have any skeletal problems. Their skeletal patterns were within normal range. So headgear or functional appliance therapy were not considered. During the treatment procedure, the most noteworthy results of Bioprogressive therapy were the effect of the Utility arch to intrude 4 mandibular anterior teeth, the effect of the Cuspid retractor in cuspid retraction and the effect of the Double delta retraction arch in the retraction of 4 anterior teeth. The whole treatment results in these cases which were achieved by Bioprogressive therapy were very favorable and the efficiency of this therapy was very excellent.

Very few reports are available on the occurrence of abnormality of both enamel and dentin. This case has some characteristiced of both amelogenesis imperfecta and dentinogenesis imperfecta. Clinically, the enamel of primary dentition was completely absent and when the permanent teeth came to the pediatric dept. of Dankook University Dental Hopital for treatment. Fixed-removable type resin plate was delivered to increase vertical dimension and to solve esthetic and functional defects. Hypoplastic teeth were restored either stainless steel crown or composite resin restoration or both. The periodic recall check and oral hygiene education are recommended.

With the understanding of tooth crown biomechanics and the progress of dentin adhesives, bonded porcelain restorations including a porcelain laminate veneer present an extended spectrum of indications for anterior teeth. Porcelain laminate veneer as a restoration offers the conservative solution that balances the functional and esthetic needs of the anterior dentition. Porcelain's stiffness, its surface characteristics, and the biomechanical strength achieved through bonding to tooth surface enable the restoration of the tooth as a whole supporting occlusal force and masticatory function. Namely, the optical effects inherent in the tooth and the lifelike features of the porcelain make that this restoration approaches the ultimate in esthetic satisfaction for both the dentist and the patient. A 49-year-old female patient with the incisal discoloration of upper central incisors and black triangle between the central incisors was referred to correct her esthetic problems with prosthodontic approach. The patient was satisfied with two porcelain laminate veneers that were made according to prof. Magne and Belser's recommendation.
Outcome of esthetic ceramic restorations are affected by tooth size, gingival contour, occlusal relationship, etc. For this reason, demand of orthodontic treatment before esthetic ceramic restoration is increasing. If a Bolton ratio discrepancy, a problem of the maxillary incisor's vertical position, a problem of inclination of anterior teeth, a pathogenic occlusion is existed, a pre-prosthodontic orthodontics should be accomplished. These problems can be satisfactory only after the prosthetic treatment is performed after orthodontic treatment. When orthodontic treatment is given, it should be treated with the following principle. 1. Treat it in the direction of functioning occlusion. 2. Keep the patient's stable occlusal scheme. 3. Treat the teeth by considering the average tooth size and Bolton ratio. Ortho-Prostho combined treatment with optimal treatment plan can lead a patient's function, esthetics, and long-term stability.
