Photochemical studies of N-[(trimethylsilyl)alkyl]saccharins were carried out to investigate their photochemical behavior. Depending on the nature of the substrate and the solvent system employed, reactions of these substances can take place by either SET-promoted silyl migration from carbon to either the amide carbonyl or sulfonyl oxygen or by a N-S homolysis route. The results of the current studies show that an azomethine ylide, arising from a SET-promoted silyl migration pathway, is generated in photoreactions of N-[(trimethylsilyl)methyl]saccharin and this intermediate reacts to give various photoproducts depending on the conditions employed. In addition, irradiation of N-[(trimethylsily)ethyl]saccharin produces an excited state that reacts through two pathways, the relative importance is governed by solvent polarity and protic nature. Finally, photoirradiation of N-[(trimethylsilyl)propyl]saccharin in a highly polar solvent system comprised of 35% aqueous MeOH gives rise to formation of a tricyclic pyrrolizidine and saccharin that generated via competitive SET-promoted silyl transfer and $\gamma$-hydrogen abstraction pathways.
Interior space of modern society has a request for non-functional considerations as well as a need for function. French sociologist Jean Baudrillard defined this phenomenon as a dialectical relationship between the functional system and the non-functional system in his book "The System of Objects". The main goal of interior design is the pursuit of non-functional aspects which can satisfy emotional needs of human being without ignoring functional side. This means that designer should exceed the limitation of the functional system and overcome it by his own idea and method. Under this recognition, this paper tried to understand how Shiro Kuramata and Takashi Sugimoto accomplished the overcoming successfully. Sugimoto breaks through mechanical monotony introducing the non-functional objects into the functional system. His objects have power and form of the nature. They also shows traces of manufacture and labor. They works as media transferring old life and values. Sugimoto sometimes adopts the non-functional system such as collection, so it reveals time of collecting and arrangement of various objects. In contrast to Sugimoto, Kuramata erased the form of functional object and turned over the everydayness of the functional system. Instead, aesthetical phenomena substitutes form. Having doubts about the geometrical order of functional system, he opened a discourse for its meaning and limitation. However they have something in common which works as a blueprint for establishing subject's discourse. This discourse is comprised of their own memories of scenes. These subjects' discourse institute worlds through their design works based on each methodology. From the Heideggerian point of view, the worlds offer a foundation which allows the establishment of art in interior design.
The design and synthesis of new polymers is desirable to obtain materials with novel physical properties. Generally, these new polymers have their well-defined nature with the number of functional groups, molecular weight, polydispersity, and the presence or absence of branching being precisely controlledl. These polymers are mainly synthesized by living polymerizations to control of their structures. Among of various living polymerization Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) has been a field of intensive research in recent years1. (omitted)
Modified polycrylonitrile(PAN) membranes were prepared by emulsion or emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization technique. Separation capacity was determined at several operating temperatures(25, 40, 55 and 70 $^{\circ}$C) to dehydrate 56wt% pyridine aqueous solution through modified PAN membranes having different functional groups. All these PAN-based membranes were selective toward water to different degrees depending on the nature of functional groups present in the membranes. Pervaporation characteristics of PAN-based membranes are so different and classified into three categories depending on the type of the functional groups in PAN copolymers. Among PAN-based membranes, the in-situ complex membranes show the best separation capacity over the operating temperatures.
Three-dimensional (3D) micro/nanostructures based on soft elastomers have received extensive attention in recent years, owing to their potential and advanced applicability. Designing and fabricating 3D micro/nanostructures are crucial for applications in diverse engineering fields, such as sensors, harvesting devices, functional surfaces, and adhesive patches. However, because of their structural complexity, fabricating soft-elastomer-based 3D micro/nanostructures with a low cost and simple process remains a challenge. Bio-inspired designs that mimic natural structures, or replicate their micro/nanostructure surfaces, have greatly benefited in terms of low-cost fabrication, scalability, and easy control of geometrical parameters. This review highlights recent advances in 3D micro/nanostructures inspired by nature for diverse potential and advanced applications, including flexible pressure sensors, energy-harvesting devices based on triboelectricity, superhydrophobic/-philic surfaces, and dry/wet adhesive patches.
Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) play a crucial role during the software development process. Currently, NFRs are considered more important than Functional Requirements and can determine the success of a software system. NFRs can be very complicated to understand due to their subjective manner and especially their conflicting nature. Self-adaptive systems (SAS) are operating in dynamically changing environment. Furthermore, the configuration of the SAS systems is dynamically changing according to the current systems context. This means that the configuration that manages the trade-off between NFRs in this context may not be suitable in another. This is because the NFRs satisfaction is based on a per-context basis. Therefore, one context configuration to satisfy one NFR may produce a conflict with another NFR. Furthermore, current approaches managing Non-Functional Requirements trade-off stops managing them during the system runtime which of concern. To solve this, we propose fragmentizing the NFRs and their alternative solutions in form of Multi-entity Bayesian network fragments. Consequently, when changes occur, our system creates a situation specific Bayesian network to measure the impact of the system's conditions and environmental changes on the NFRs satisfaction. Moreover, it dynamically decides which alternative solution is suitable for the current situation.
