This study was performed to obtain higher yield rate of protein-bound polysac-charide extracted from cultured broth and fruit body of Coriolus versieolor, basidiomycetes. 16002 strain produced 0.58%, the highest yield rate among four strains, and there was no significantly different yield in other three strains. The optimal liquid media were CVT-III to obtain higher yield of protein-bound polysaccharide comparing with the various culture media. Compared with several materials for substitution of medium source, the residue extract media of Coriolus versieolor fruit-body were yield rate similar to control, and addition of the extracts of ginseng residues increased 11.4-48%. And also compared with fruit bodies that were artificially cultured on the oak longs, 16002 strain produced the highest yield similar to the result of cultured broth. Fruit body of the prematures stage was more effective to obtain high yield rate.

In this study, basic data were obtained to determine the optimal cultivation method to achieve stable fruiting and yield increase in "Cheonhwang" jujube trees. Accordingly, thefructification, fruit characteristics, and yield according to tree age were analyzed. The mean (and range of) tree height, crown area, stem diameter near the root, clear stem length, number of main branches, and distance between main branches were 235.6 (217.4-253.8) cm, 3.5 (3.1-4.1) m2, 5.5 (4.0-7.1) cm, 70.6 (66.2-72.7) cm, 9.7 (8.6-10.5), and 10.4 (7.9-14.2) cm, respectively. Correlationanalysis results indicated that tree age was positively correlated with crown area, stem diameter near the root, and clear stem length but not with the number of main branches. The mean number (and range) of fruit per fruit-bearing mother shoot and tree were 18.3 (16.7-18.3) and 170.7 (157.9-178.3), respectively. Tree age was not significantlycorrelated with fruiting characteristics (i.e., the numbers of fruit-bearing mother shoots per main branch, fruit-bearing shoots per fruit-bearing mother shoot, fruit per fruit-bearing shoot, and fruit per tree). Given that the shape of jujube trees is constantly managed according to the growing area and greenhouse type, the tree growth characteristics were more affected by tree management techniques than by tree age. The mean (and range of) fruit weight, fruit hardness, and soluble solid content were 28.6 (27.7-30.3) g, 29.4 (28.5-30.4) N, and 20.4 (19.3-21.0) °brix, respectively, and these fruit characteristics were not significantly correlated with tree age.The average yield per tree of the 'Cheonhwang' jujube cultivar was 4.9 (4.8-5.0) kg, which was not significantly correlated with tree age.
As apple trees mature, it is important to maintain good light distribution within the canopy to produce marketable fruits. Tree thinning is the selective removal of a proportion of trees growing in the orchard to provide more growing space and a good light environment for the remaining trees. This study was conducted over 3 years (14-16 years after planting) to investigate the influence of tree thinning on vegetative growth, yield, fruit quality, and blooming in the 14 years old slender spindle 'Fuji'/M.9 apple trees planted with the tree space of 3.2×1.2 m. The trees were placed in a control group (no thinning; 260 trees per 10 a) or a tree thinning group (thinned 50% of the control; 130 trees per 10 a). The tree thinning successfully improved light penetration, yield per tree, fruit red color, and yield efficiency for 3 years, and the tree thinning controlled the occurrence of biennial bearing. However, tree thinning significantly decreased accumulated yield per 10 a compared with the control. The vegetative growth, yield per tree, soluble solid contents, and blooming were not clear by the occurrence of biennial bearing in the control. These results indicated that tree thinning was a good method for improving light penetration and preventing biennial bearing in the old 'Fuji'/M.9 high-density apple orchards.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of night and daytime temperatures on growth and yield of paprika 'Fiesta' and 'Jubilee' under soil culture experiment in the vinyl houses during the 2003 and 2004 season. Total fruit yield was greater in 'Fiesta' than 'Jubilee' Marketable yield was not different between two cultivars, due to lower $\%$ marketable fruits in 'Fiesta'. mean Fruit weight was not different between two cultivars. Difference of yield between cultivars was due to fruit number, harves time and root condition. It was caused by cracked fruits to decrease $\%$ marketable fruits. Total yield was greater in nighttime temperature of $18^{\circ}C\;than\;15^{\circ}C$ and marketable yield was considerably greater because of $\%$ marketable fruits was higher. Mean fruit weight was slightly greater in nighttime temperature of $15^{\circ}C\;than\;18^{\circ}C$. Difference of fruit yield in treatments of nighttime temperature was due to fruit number and harvest time. There was not significant difference of yield between daytime temperature of $28^{\circ}C\;and\;31^{\circ}C$, but in $34^{\circ}C$, total and marketable yields were the least and mean fruit weight was the smallest because of decreased $CO_2$ concentration in the house, accerated vegetative growth, and the least chlorophyll content. There were no significant difference in photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, maximal photochemical efficiency and antioxidant enzyme activities of all temperature treatments in this experiment. However it was clear that a little difference in error range of these results affects the source of crops in any case. It was not acknowledged that compensation effect by high temperature in daytime to the low temperature treatment in nighttime.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of slurry composting and biofiltration (SCB) liquid manure application on shoot growth, fruit qualities and soil chemical properties in peach orchard. SCB liquid manure was fertigated ten times from April to October in SCB plot, whereas chemical fertilizer was treated two times as basal and additional fertilizers in control plot. The shoot growth, leaf nitrogen and potassium content, soil exchangeable K, fruit weight and yield were higher in SCB plot than in control. Soluble solid content and acidity, soil organic matter, soil available phosphate and soil exchangeable Mg showed no significant difference between treatments, and the leaf calcium and magnesium content were lower in SCB plot than in control. In conclusion, fertigating SCB liquid manure in peach orchard has positive effects on fruit weight and yield, and it is suggested that periodical soil testing is needed because of the possibility of K accumulation in SCB liquid manure treated soil when the orchard is fertigated based on the soil nitrogen content.
For the purpose of breeding a high-yield superior variety of Korean raisin tree (Hovenia dulcis var. koreana Nakai), whose value as an edible and medicinal resource is increasing, tree candidates for superior individuals were selected from its 11 habitats in Korea from 1996 to 1998. A clone bank preserve was created in 1998 with 70 clones proliferated by grafting; the fruition traits (e.g., the number of fructified laterals, the average number of bunches per fructified lateral, the average number of bunches per fruiting lateral, the fruitpetiole weight per individual, and the yield per individual) of 47 clones that had bloomed and borne fruit were investigated and analyzed in 2002; five upper-ranking clones whose yield per individual exhibited a 261% improvement against the total average were picked in 2005; and three clones, including 'Poong-Sung 1', that showed a difference in their fruit petiole ripening stage, were finally selected in 2007 as high-yield new cultivars of Korean raisin tree.

This study was conducted to determine the influences of winter and summer pruning on the yield and fruit quality in southern highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L. hybrid) cv. 'Misty'. The 5-year-old southern highbush blueberry 'Misty' were used. The pruning treatments were as follows: 1) control (no pruning), 2) winter pruning (30% removed), and 3) winter pruning + summer pruning (Aug. 5). Fruits harvested for six times over the harvest season and measured yields, unmarketable fruit (defected and immature fruit), changes of each fruit weight and analyzed fruit characteristics, such as total sugar, total anthocyanin contents and total phenolic contents. The differential pruning treatments were not significant for fruit yields of southern highbush 'Misty'. No pruning treatment showed regular yields after the 2nd harvest, but the other pruning treatments were appeared that fruit yields were more concentrated on the 2nd~4th harvest time. Total sugar and total phenolic contents were observed the highest at the 4th time among the harvest period. No pruning treatment showed the highest unmarketable fruit yield at 57%, however, that of winter pruning and winter + summer pruning treatment occurred at 26%, 31%, respectively.
This study was carried out to determine the effect of fruit-set position and number of fruit set per plant on yield and quality including netting in "Super VIP" melon cultivated in spring season. 1) In training system of one fruit per plant, index of netting was acceptable, regardless of the node position of fruit-set. The higher node order of fruit set was, the heavier, longer, bigger in diameter the fruit set was, and the thicker the flesh was. However, soluble suger content and storability was decreased with increased node order. 2) In training system of two fruit per plant, the higher the fruit-set position in node order was, the better the netting index, fruit quality including fruit weight, length, diameter, and thickness of flesh were, but there was no difference in storability. 3) Fruits produced by one-fruit-per-plant training were superior to those produced by two-fruit-per-plant training in maker quality including netting, sugar content, stcrability. The fruit set on 12th node in one-fruit-per-plant training were the best in market quality. 4) Yield was increased by two-fruit-per-plant training.

The response of honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) pollination on canola yield with reference to most suitable number of bee hive need per unit area of crops in order to meet optimum pollination needs and better economic yields by comparing number of hives and yield components an experiment was conducted at Beekeeping and Hill Fruit Pests Research, Station Rawalpindi during 2017-18 in complete randomized block design with two sets of four treatments for comparison: 1 hive acre-1, 2 hives acre-1, 3 hives acre-1 and 0 hive acre-1. The hives were kept inside the experimental area. Parameters were assessed: pollination density, pollinator's diversity, agronomic and economic yield. In case of pollination density, the cumulative mean abundance bee species revealed that at 1200 hours, Apis mellifera was the most abundant and frequent visitor with a mean population of 8.69 bees/plant followed by A. dorsata (0.72), Syrphid fly (0.2) and other pollinators. Minimum bee population was observed during 1400 hours, mainly due to the closure of flowers and partially due to high temperature (>35℃). Pollinator diversity revealed that A. mellifera was the most dominant pollinator of Brassica crop with highest abundance (71%). A. dosata ranked 2nd (16%) followed by A. florea (6%) respectively.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of irrigation (amount, interval) on tree growth, fruit quality, and cracking of organic 'Campbell Early' grapevine in 2012 and 2013. Three irrigation treatments were applied using a sprinkler system from mid-June to mid-August in 2012 and 2013, as follows: 10 mm was applied daily (10 mm-IR), 20 mm was applied every two days (20 mm-IR), and 30 mm was applied every five days (30 mm-IR). Soil electrical conductivity (EC) and temperature were found to be greatest in the 10 mm-IR treatment in both years. Soil moisture content ranged between 20-40% in the 10 mm-IR, between 20-60% in the 20 mm-IR, and between 20-70% in the 30 mm-IR treatment plots. The total number of leaves per shoot and shoot growth were found to be greatest in the 20 mm-IR and 30 mm-IR treatments, respectively. Cluster and berry weights, and cluster and berry sizes were not consistently affected by the treatments. The 10 mm-IR treatment resulted in an increase in fruit SSC, SSC/acidity ratio, and berry skin pigmentation ($b^*$; blue). Approximately 5% of fruit cracking was observed on average over both years in the 10 mm-IR-treated fruit, while the 30 mm-IR treatment resulted in nearly 18% of cracking in 2012. Average marketable fruit yield per year over two years was greatest for the 10 mm-IR treatment ($24.4t{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) followed by the 30 mm-IR treatment ($22.7t{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) and lastly the 20 mm-IR treatment ($22.2t{\cdot}ha^{-1}$). Thus, the 10 mm-IR treatment represents a suitable irrigation regimen for controlling leaf and shoot growth of vines grown under a rain-shelter system in sandy loam soils, while improving fruit sugar contents and skin color and limiting fruit cracking.
