잉어에 의한 Diazinon 및 Fenitrothion의 생물농축(生物濃縮) (Bioconcentration of Diazinon and Fenitrothion in Carp (Cyprinus carpio))

  • 잉어에 의한 두 가지 유기린계(有機燐系) 살충제의 생물농축(生物濃縮)을 추구(追求)하기 위하여 실험실 조건하에서 수행한 실험결과 는 다음과 같다. 1) Diazinon과 fenitrothion의 1 ppm농도에서 잉어에 의한 생물농축계수(生物濃縮係數)는 24시간후에 각각 31과 57이었다. 이 계수(係數)는 잉어의 부위(部位)에 따라 달리 나타났는 바 내장(內臟)>기타 부위>아가미>근육(筋肉)의 순서로 나타났다. 2) 잉어를 fenitrothion의 세가지 농도에 28일간 노출시킨 결과 생물농축계수(生物濃縮係數)는 $96{\sim}138$로 나타났는 바 수중(水中)농도가 높을수록 적게 나타났다. Fenitrothion의 생체내(生體內) 농축(濃縮)은 계속적으로 일어났으며 조직내(組織內) 농도가 약 3.5ppm에서 평형(平衡)에 도달하였다.

洛東江하구 干濕地의 水生管束植物에 관한 硏究 - 河口堰 建設 前後의 干濕地 植生의 生産性 比較 (A Study on Vascular Hydrophytes of Intertidal Area in Nakdong Estuary -Productivity of Intertidal Vascular hydrophytes before and after the Construction of Nakdong Barrage-)

  • 洛東江 河口堰 건설 이후의 干濕地 植生의 변화를 알기 위하여 식생의 분포와 生産性 및 現存量을 조사하여 河口堰 건설 전과 비교한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 干濕地 I지소의 상부에 草丈이 길고 密度가 높았던 군락(1985.7)이 草丈과 密度가 낮아졌으며, 하부에 개척자 단계의 세모고랭이 군락이 확장되고 密度와 草高 및 現存量이 증가하였다. 干濕地 II지소의 자연제방 부분에 사토가 퇴적되어 확장되고 干濕地面이 높아졌다. 동쪽부분(sandy area)의 세모고랭이 군락은 증가하고 중앙부(muddy area)의 세모고랭이는 쇠퇴되어 現存量이 감소하였다. 서쪽부분의 干濕地(sandy area)는 확장되고, 증가되었다. 河口堰 건설공사 동안 밀도, 초간, 현재량 및 一次純生産量은 심한 변동을 나타내었으며, 공사초기(1984)에 비해 공사 이후 1988년, 1989년의 총현존량(total standing crop)과 괴경의 현존량은 증가하였으나, 1990년에는 1989년보다 약간 감소하였다. 세모고랭이 塊莖의 現存量을 철새들이 도래하기 시작하는 10월을 중심으로 河口堰工事 前(유, 1987)과 河口堰건설 이후를 비교하면 1983년 부터 '84, 85년까지 증가하였으며, 1986년에는 급격히 감소하여 '83년의 81%수준이었다. 완공후의 1988년에는 1983년보다 높은 0.79g DW${\cdot}m^{-2}$으로 83년의 159%로 증가되었으며, '89년에는 폭발적으로 증가하였고 '90년에는 '89년보다 약간 감소하였다.

  • 해수침투 방지나 대수층 인공함양을 위하여 다수의 관정을 통하여 대수층으로 물을 주입하는 공법이 있다. 이러한 공법의 경우 소기의 목적을 달성하기 위해서는 관정의 위치와 주입량, 그리고 결과되는 관정의 지하수위 등이 별도의 지하수 모델링을 통하여 결정된다. 주입수는 통상 관망을 통하여 관정으로 공급되는 데 이 때 관망에는 관정별 주입량을 조절하기 위한 밸브가 설치된다. 본 연구에서는 다수의 주입 관정이 연결된 관망에서 사전에 산정된 주입량 분포를 준수하기 위한 밸브 개도와 주입관망 가동에 필요한 펌프 최소 소요양정 산정방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구결과는 주입군정 운영의 정밀도를 향상시키는 데 기여할 수 있다.

낙동강 수계 임하호의 어류상 고찰 (Review on the Fish Fauna of the Imha-Dam Reservoir in the Nakdonggang River System, Korea)

  • 낙동강 수계의 임하호에 서식하는 담수어류의 다양성과 종 목록을 고찰하고자 1992년부터 2016년까지의 문헌을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 임하호 내에서 출현한 전체 어류는 총 4목 11과 36속 46종 23,269개체가 보고되었다. 잉어과가 27종(58.7%), 미꾸리과 5종 (10.9%), 망둑어과 3종 (6.5%), 메기과, 꺽지과, 검정우럭과가 각각 2종(4.3%)씩 보고되었다. 우점종은 9,333개체 (40.1%)가 출현한 강준치였고, 아우점종은 2,281개체(9.8%)가 출현한 끄리로 나타났다. 우리나라 고유종은 17종으로 출현어종 46종의 37.0%를 차지하였고, 환경부 지정 멸종위기종은 3종, 국내이입종은 5종, 외래종은 3종이 보고되었다.

북한 신포지구의 기수호 I. 동물플랑크톤 (Brackish Lakes in Shinpo District, North Korea. I. Zooplankton)

  • 북한 신포지구에 위치하는 3개 호수는(호만포호, 현금호, 대인호)동물플랑크톤 출현 결과와 염분도로 (현금호는 2002년 5월과 10월에 2.8ppt와 0.8ppt, 대인호는 1.5ppt와 0.5ppt) 보아 기수호임이 밝혀졌다. 3개 호수에서 출현한 34종류의 동물플랑크톤 중 요각류와 윤충류가 각각 15종과 7종 동정되었으며 34종류 중 담수종은 24종, 기수종과 해산종은 각각 6종과 4종이었다. 기수성 요각류인 Pseudodiaptomus와 Sinocalanus tenellus는 3개 호수에 모두 분포하고 있었으며 3개 호수 모두에서 기수종과 해산종의 출현양이 동물플랑크톤 출현양의 90%이상을 차지하고 있었다. 5월에 현금호에서 S. tenellus가 입방미터당 59,000개체로 대량 출현하여 이때 기수종과 해산종의 출현양은 전체 동물플랑크톤 출현양의 99%를 넘었다. 연구 지역의 기수호를 보호하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해서는 장기 조사가 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of Zooplankton Grazing on the Suppression of Harmful Algal Blooms by the Rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus in Freshwater Ecosystems

  • To study the influence of the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus on harmful algal bloom suppression, we focused on assessing the rotifer's abilities using several prey species : Microcystis aeruginosa, Synechocystis sp., Chlorella vulgaris and Coelastrum sp. of the warm-weather species and the cold-weather centric diatom Stephanodiscus hantzchii. Grazing effects and growth rates of rotifers B. calyciflorus were 94.5% and $1.29d^{-1}$, respectively, for Synechocystis sp., 87.4% and $0.60d^{-1}$, respectively, for M. aeruginosa, 95.2% and $0.65d^{-1}$, respectively, for C. $vulgaris^{TM}$, 78.6% and $0.45d^{-1}$, respectively, for C. vulgaris UTEX., 86.5% and $0.99d^{-1}$, respectively, for Coelastrum sp., and 82.6% and $0.40d^{-1}$, respectively, for S. hantzchii. Of these, although the growth of Synechocystis and Coelastrum was effectively suppressed by rotifer grazing, efficient suppression effects on Stephanodiscus blooms were unexpected. The present study revealed that reproduction of B. calyciflorus was greatly influenced by its food types in the initial stages and the efficiencies of bio-agents as sole food sources vary depending on the target algae and the agent.

Grazing on Bacteria and Algae by Metazoans in the Lake-river Ecosystem (River Spree, Germany)

  • Direct effects of zooplankton grazing activities on the natural assemblage of bacterioplankton and algae were evaluated at monthly intervals, from June to October of 2000, in the middle part of the River Spree, Germany. We quantified bacterioplankton, algae, zooplankton abundance and measured carbon ingestion rates (CIRs) by zooplankton according to two zooplankton size classes: (i) micro zooplankton (MICZ), ranging in size from 30 to $150{\mu}m$ and including rotifers and nauplii, excluding protozoans and (ii) macrozooplankton (MACZ), larger than $150{\mu}m$ and including cladocerans and copepods. CIRs were measured using natural bacterial and algae communities in the zooplankton density manipulation experiments. Algae biomass (average${\pm}$SD: $377{\pm}306{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}$, n=5) was always higher than bacterial biomass ($36.7{\pm}9.9{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}$, n=5). Total zooplankton biomass varied from 19.8 to $137{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}$. Total mean biomass of zooplankton was $59.9{\pm}52.5{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}$ (average${\pm}$SD, n=5). Average MICZ biomass ($40.2{\pm}47.6{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}$ n=5) was nearly twofold higher than MACZ biomass ($19.6{\pm}20.6{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}$ n=5). Total zooplankton CIRs on algae (average${\pm}$SD: $56.6{\pm}26.4{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}\;day^{-1}$) were $\sim$fourfold higher than that on bacteria $(12.7{\pm}6.0{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}\;day^{-1})$. MICZ CIRs on bacteria $(7.0{\pm}2.8{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}\;day^{-1})$ and algae $(28.6{\pm}20.6{\mu}gC\;L^{-1}\;day^{-1})$ were slightly higher than MACZ CIRs. On average, MICZ accounted for 55.6 and 50.5% of total zooplankton grazing on bacteria and algae, respectively. Considering the MICZ and MACZ CIRs, the relative role of transferring carbon to higher trophic levels were nearly similar between both communities in the lake-river ecosystem.

2004년 7월 봇돌바다의 영양염과 chlorophyll-a의 단기 변동 (Temporal variations of nutrients and chlorophyll-a in the Bottol Bada in July, 2004)

  • In order to study the temporal variations of nutrients and chlorophyll-a in the Bottol Bada, three field observations were carried out on 20, 23 and 26 July, 2004. The low N:P values exhibit nitrogen deficiency during the periods of observation. This result is not representative of typical summer environment in the southern coast of Korea. The possible mechanisms are as follows: 1) The freshwater inflow was not sufficient for the supply of nitrogen because the total precipitation was 11.9 mm in July, 2004. This amount is no more than $5\%$ in normal precipitation in July. 2) There was an inflow of oceanic water under the subsurface into the Bottol Bada. Even though the oceanic water comprises more nutrients, it produces the stratification between the surface and the subsurface water and seems to prevent the supply of nutrinets to the surface layer. 3) The high chlorophyll-a concentration of $1.2 {\cal}ug/L$ was shown near the narrow channel between Gae-do and Geumo-do. This seems to be resulted from the inflow of water from Gamak Bay.

Assessment of the physico-chemical quality and extent of algal proliferation in water from an impounding reservoir prone to eutrophication

  • Background: Piton du Milieu (PdM) impounding reservoir is suspected to be eutrophic based on the elevated level of orthophosphate and nitrate. Water supplies from three adjacent rivers are primarily thought to contribute to the nutrient enrichment of the reservoir. It is also suspected that there is leaching of orthophosphate, nitrate and organic matter into the rivers during rainfall events and also as a result of anthropogenic activities within the catchment area. The aim of this study was to ascertain the impact of nutrient loading on the water quality of PdM water and on the population of freshwater microalgae in the reservoir. The enumeration and identification of algae from PdM were performed by differential interference contrast microscopy. Dissolved oxygen (DO) and pH were determined by electrometric methods, whereas nutrient levels, silica and total organic carbon (TOC) were determined by instrumentation techniques. Results: Annual mean orthophosphate, nitrate and total organic carbon input from the three feeders within the catchment area of PdM reached levels as high as 0.09 mg/L, 0.4 mg/L and 2.62 ppm respectively. Over a 12-month period, mean TOC concentration in the reservoir was 2.32 ppm while the mean algal cell count was 4601 cells/mL. The dominant algal species identified were Oscillatoria, Cyclotella, Navicula and Cosmarium. Conclusion: This study highlights the trophic state of the reservoir water and clearly points to the need for constant monitoring in order to avoid the occurrence of an impending harmful algal bloom.

Habitat selectivity of fresh water fishes of two second-order tropical streams in Tigray, Northern Ethiopia

  • Background: Habitat selectivity and ecology of freshwater fishes were studied in two selected streams and their junction point which consist a total of 39 microhabitats. The aims of this study were to describe the habitat preference and its availability to fish assemblage, as well as ecology, habitat use, and habitat characteristics. Methods: We collected fish with backpack electrofishing three times during August 2013, December 2013, and March 2014. Using a variation partitioning approach of R software, we studied the relationship of fish abundances with stream type, habitat type, and abundance of key macroinvertebrate taxa. Results: A total of 6554 fishes representing four species belonging to the family Cyprinidae were caught. A higher total fish abundance was recorded from Gereb Tsedo (4870; 74.3%) than from Elala stream (1684; 25.7%). Taking both streams together, the overall total relative fish abundance was significantly higher in pools (53%) than in runs (35%) and in riffles (12%) at P < 0.05. Species-wise comparisons showed that 71%, 15%, 13%, and 1% of the pool fish community were occupied by Garra blanfordii, Garra ignestii, Garra dembecha, and Garra aethiopica, respectively. Stream type, habitat type, and key macroinvertebrate taxa each explained a significant proportion of the variation in fish abundance. Based on the variation partitioning approach, fish abundance was higher in Gereb Tsedo stream (P < 0.01). Moreover, fish abundance increased with pool habitat type (P < 0.01) and with availability of key macroinvertebrate taxa (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Fish abundance differed between stream types, among habitats and among key macroinvertebrate taxa availability. Among the factors, habitat type was the most important driving factor behind variation among fish abundances, and pool supports the highest fish abundance.
