  • In this paper, a new distributed resource allocation algorithm is proposed to alleviate the cross-tier interference for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access macrocell and femtocell overlay. Specifically, the resource allocation problem is modeled as a non-cooperative game. Based on game theory, we propose an iterative algorithm between subchannel and power allocation called distributed resource allocation which requires no coordination among the two-hierarchy networks. Finally, a macrocell link quality protection process is proposed to guarantee the macrocell UE's quality of service to avoid severe cross-tier interference from femtocells. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve remarkable performance gains as compared to the pure waterfilling algorithm.

  • In this paper, the study on the allocation of dedicated radio frequency for the radio communication based CBTC system is performed. The dedicated bandwidth for the the private use in railroad is figured out and the allocatable frequency band, which should be investigated hereafter, is proposed. The result of this study provides the basis to present the requirement of dedicated railroad radio frequency and can be used as an important material for the frequency allocation. Furthermore, it is expected that the result can be contributed to the development on railroad radio communication.

  • In this study, we propose a limited feedback-based frequency divided group beamforming with sparse space-frequency transmit diversity coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system for ultrareliable low latency communication (URLLC) scenario. The proposed scheme has several advantages over the traditional hybrid beamforming approach, including not requiring downlink channel state information for baseband precoding, supporting distributed multipoint transmission structures for diversity, and reducing beam sweeping latency with little uplink overhead. These are all positive aspects of physical layer characteristics intended for URLLC. It is suggested in the system to manage the multipoint transmission structure realized by distributed panels using a power allocation method based on cooperative game theory. Link-level simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme offers reliability by achieving both higher diversity order and array gain in a nonline-of-sight channel of selectivity and limited spatial scattering.

  • The advantages of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are high spectral efficiency, resiliency to RF interference, and lower multi-path distortion. To further utilize vast channel capacity of the multiuser OFDM, one has to find the efficient adaptive subchannel and bit allocation among users. In this paper, we compare the performance of the linear programming dual of the 0-1 integer programming formulation with the existing convex optimization approach for the optimal subchannel and bit allocation problem of the multiuser OFDM. Utilizing tight lower bound provided by the LP dual formulation, we develop a primal heurisitc algorithm based on the LP dual solution. The performance of the primal heuristic is compared with MAO, ESA heuristic solutions, and integer programming solution on MATLAB simulation on a system employing M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (MQAM) assuming a frequency-selective channel consisting of three independent Rayleigh multi-paths.

  • We propose the schemes for the dynamic channel allocation (DCA) in multi-cell OFDMA systems to avoid co-channel interference (CCI) without the additional complexity. The allocatable subcarriers areas, which is designed to avoid CCI among cells, are determined for each cell. Each cell allocates the subcarriers within the allocatable subcarriers area of the cell independently. We consider the trade off between the reduced frequency selection diversity and the amount of CCI on a subcarrier by the determination of allocatable subcarriers area. Hence, the equal allocation bound scheme for the high selectivity channel and the flexible allocation bound scheme for the low selectivity channel are proposed. Through the numerical results, it is confirmed that the proposed schemes have better performance in the aspects of the number of overlapping allocated subcarriers, the capacity and the outage probability compared to the case which does not determined the allocatable subcarriers area.

  • A channel allocation algorithm of multi-user OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) system is presented. The proposed algorithm is to reduce the complexity of the system, using the GNN(gradual neural network) with gradual expansion scheme and the algorithm attempts to allocate channel with good channel gain to each user. The method has lower computational complexity and less iteration than other algorithms.

  • Resource allocation plays a crucial role in multiuser multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems to improve overall system performance. While previously proposed resource allocation algorithms are mainly designed from the point of view of the information-theoretic, we formulate the resource allocation problem as an average bit error rate (BER) minimization problem subject to a total power constraint when considering employing realistic MIMO detection techniques. Subsequently, we derive the optimal subcarrier and power allocation algorithms for three types of well-known MIMO detectors, including the maximum likelihood (ML) detector, linear detectors, and successive interference cancellation (SIC) detectors. To reduce the complexity, we also propose a two-step suboptimal algorithm that separates subcarrier and power allocation for each detector. We also analyze the diversity gain of the proposed suboptimal algorithms for various MIMO detectors. Simulation results confirm that the proposed suboptimal algorithm for each detector can achieve a comparable performance with the optimal allocation with a much lower complexity. Moreover, it is shown that the suboptimal algorithms perform better than the conventional algorithms that are known in the literature.

  • To deal with the major challenges of embedded sensor networks, we consider the use of magnetic fields as a means of reliably transferring both information and power to embedded sensors. We focus on a power allocation strategy for an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing system to maximize the transferred power under the required information capacity and total available power constraints. First, we consider the case of a co-receiver, where information and power can be extracted from the same signal. In this case, we find an optimal power allocation (OPA) and provide the upper bound of achievable transferred power and capacity pairs. However, the exact calculation of the OPA is computationally complex. Thus, we propose a low-complexity power reallocation algorithm. For practical consideration, we consider the case of a separated receiver (where information and power are transferred separately through different resources) and propose two heuristic power allocation algorithms. Through simulations using the Agilent Advanced Design System and Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator, we validate the magnetic-inductive channel characteristic. In addition, we show the performances of the proposed algorithms by providing achievable ${\eta}$-C regions.

  • We propose a hybrid multiple access (HMA) for uplink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, which combines two resource sharing schemes: a scheduling-based resource allocation (SBRA) scheme and a contentionbased resource allocation (CBRA) scheme. The SBRA scheme is appropriate for non-real time high data rate traffic, and, CBRA is appropriate for near-real time low/medium data rate traffic. Thus, the proposed HMA scheme supports various types of traffic. As a CBRA scheme, our proposed random frequency hopping (RFH)-OFDMA scheme was presented. Simulation results show that the proposed HMA yields the best performance among various resource allocation schemes for uplink OFDMA systems.
