The goal of the project on developing Korea as the logistics hub of Northeast Asia is to develop Busan Port and Gwangyang Port as international logistics centers by promoting and attracting more warehouses. As is well known, there is intense competition among ports located in major economic blocs to become the regional logistics hub. Gwangyang is second to none in terms of being favorably located at the center of Northeast Asia. Gwangyang Port, however, lacked in SOC construction and faced the poor government support politics hub of Northeast Asia. They are i) expanding the logistics infrastructuressuch as expressway and railroads between Yeosu Airport and Gwangyang Port, ii) Setting up new port hinterland and industrial complex in the vicinity of Gwangyang Port iii) securing high value-added fixed cargo traffic, and iv) improving laws and institutions.

The Purpose of this study is to exmaine fundamental problems of Gwangyang Port and draw up plans of its Hub Port. Gwangyang Port has been gradually reduced container cargo increase rate. on account of large development of Chinese Port, undevelopment of Hinterland, Port facilities of Gwangyang Port. We should develop hinterland to be closely connected with Port Cluster, Business City, Free Economic Zone to increase cargo volume. and in order to increase transshipment cargo volume, We should prepare diverse plans that can induce Chinese and Japanese transshipment cargo. Gwangyang Port and Busan Port should be managed united one port system by a Port Authority to strengthen international competitiveness. Activation of new ports for the most part call for full support by Government at the beginning. Gwangyang Port's future it can be if Government has strong will.

This project located in IFEZ(Incheon Free Economic Zone) is the first central heating and cooling type for high-rise residential building in korea. The design was performed as the joint venture between Cosentini from U.S.A and wooowon, and our design concept was to save energy. LEED application from USGBC is going on in progress for the first residential building in korea. Careful attention was paid from schematic design for not a durability of structural and architectural, but also durability and safety of M.E.P.

This study has an objective to analyze economic impact of building game industrial complex in Incheon. There are few studies about economic impact of game industry, despites of the high expectations for game industry development as important cultural content in the regional economy. Therefore, this study gives value as an intuitive analysis in terms of understanding the game industry. Regional input-output analysis was conducted based on construction sector, game related manufacturing and game related service sector in case of fulfilling establishment of game industrial complex in the Incheon Free Economic Zone. From results of this study, we find out the importance of game industry's effects on both regional and national level and it is expected a big impact on the future direction of related studies.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the new port development concepts in relation to the Mokpo port development. To analysis, we examine the relationship between the trade volumes which the port have and the capacities of the port facilities with 8 Korean seaport data. As a result of analysis, the trade volumes of port were found to be the major factors positively influencing the capacities of the port facilities in Korean ports. This findings shows that Mokpo port which trying to increase the trade volumes should have the new alternatives for Mokpo regional development. The new alternatives on the Mokpo Port's development are the model which constructing the Free Trade Zone(FTZ) and port city.

This study discusses the conceptual definition of a balcony and the emergence of basic-type and expansion-type floor plans according to the balcony utilization. In addition, the change in building density is analyzed with regard to real cases, and base data are offered for future urban policies in Incheon Metropolitan City. The context of the Building Acts could be understood through the analysis of various balcony definitions and characteristics, and the analysis was divided into basic and extension types according to the legalization that occurred in 2005. The issue of density according to balcony expansion is discussed through theories, and a planned attempt at density management in the target area is investigated. The building area, floor area, and floor area ratio are discussed with regard to the target area, and the density management is empirically proven, which is different from the Unit Plan.

Global firms are seeking to implement their global logistics strategies in two ways: the use of centralized inventories and/or postponement of final assembly. These strategies stress the importance of regional logistics centers. In most cases, regional logistics centers are located in or near ports so that changing demands can be met with economy, reliability and flexibility, The port can profit not only from the activities of logistics center itself, but also the increasing flow of cargo through the logistics center. A number of ports respond to this trend by shifting their emphasis from traditional cargo-handling services to value-added services. This paper presents guidelines drawn from the best practices of ports to be successful logistics centers to provide many aspects of value-added logistics services. These include: Effective Planning and Development of Logistics Centers; Institutional Incentive Scheme; Development of Free Trade Zones; Financing Infrastructure related to Logistics Centers; Developing Logistics Service Providers and Logistics Professionals; Development of Information Technology; and Regulatory and Administrative Issues. These guidelines will help managers of ports and policy makers of governments in the East Asian region learn to recognize, analyze and adopt the best practices for use.

Shipborne gravity data are analyzed to investigate crustal structure under Dok Island and its surrounding seamounts located in border of Ulleung Basin and Oki Bank in the East Sea. Relatively low free-air gravity anomaly compared with the volume of seamounts may be explainable by isostatic compensation. From 1 st to 3rd Dokdo Seamounts, the decrease of free-air and Bouguer gravity anomalies implies the different degree of isostatic compensation, crustal thickness or/and density contrast. 3-D gravity modelling shows that seamounts have the mirror roots for regional Airy isostatic compensation, and from Ulleung Basin to Oki Bank, Moho discontinuity deepens and the density of crust is decreases. The results infer that study area is transitional zone from thin oceanic to thick continental crust. The depth of Moho discontinuity is about 15∼16 km, which may be interpreted as an uplifting of Mantle to shallow depth comparing with other borders of the Ulleung Basin.

This paper addresses the operation, problems, and development policy of Gwangyang Port, Korea. This paper aims to analyze the operation condition and problems of Gwangyang Port and suggest long-term policies for developing Gwangyang Port as a logistic hub in northeast period. It is made up of three main sections: the operation, problems, and forecast of freight volumes; analysis of operational results of Gwangyang Port; development strategies of Gwangyang Port as a Logistics Hub. This paper was mainly based on a review of current papers/reports, an analysis of secondary data, and questionnaire survey. The major development strategies identified consisted of expansion regular service sea-route, formation of inter-modal transportation system, strengthening of port sales for Gwangyang port's recognition, securing operation-profits by fixed cargo volume, and promotion of free tread zone.

Dissolution reactions of chemical grade zinc sulfide and natural sphalerite were studied in ferric chloride solution as an oxidant. To enhance the leaching reaction, ultrasonic technique was employed in this investigation. For the reaction with pure zinc sulfide, chemical reaction was the rate limiting step in the range of low conversion irrespective of applying ultrasonic wave. And the diffusion through liquid film instead of diffusion through product layer of free sulfur was the rate determining step because ultrasonic vibration removes the product from reaction zone. In the case of sphalerite with the ultrasonic vibrator, it was found that inert mineral layer diffusion was the rate determining step, in which the elemental sulfurs formed were removed by the ultrasonic action. Experimental results showed that the ultrasonic technique proved to be the methods which can significants improve the leaching performance.
