  • Inspection and shape measurement of three-dimensional objects are widely needed in industries for quality monitoring and control. Recently the shape measurement using interferometric principle is found to be a successful methodology among other visual or optical technologies. Especially, the measuring method using wavelength scanning interferometer(WSI) has a great advantage in comparison with other conventional jnterferometric methods in that the absolute distance from the reference surface can be directly obtained from the amount of jnterferometric phase change. However, the measurement methods using WSI proposed by other researchers have low measurement resolution so far because they can't measure fractional phase change. To avoid this shortcoming we propose a new algorithm in this paper, which can obtain a small amount of even fractional phase change by sinusoidal function fitting. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed sinusoidal function fitting algorithm, a series of measuring experiments are conducted for discontinuously shaped specimens which have various height. The proposed algorithm shows much more enhanced measurement resolution than other existing conventional algorithms such as zero crossing algorithm and Fourier transform algorithm.

  • The measurement of welding temperature of connector is usually performed with an infra red temperature gauge. However, the factors, which influence the temperature measurement, are rarely known. This research used the welding temperature measurement of the connector as an example, applying the experimental design, in two-phase experiments, to search the affecting factors. In phase-I experiment, we used a resolution III, seven-factor fractional factorial design with two levels for each factor. The result showed that none of the factor was significant in affecting the welding temperature when the type I error ${\alpha}$ was 0.05. Next, we did the phase-II factorial experiment with three factors and each factor had three levels. The experiment showed the experimental time was significant in affecting the temperature measurement when the type I error ${\alpha}$ was 0.05. Further Duncan's multiple range tests on the second experimental data showed that the later the experimental time, the weaker the light intensity could have on the temperature measurement and the average of the highest temperatures was lower. Moreover, the later the experimental time, the smaller was the variance of the temperature measurement and the difference between the averages of the highest and the lowest temperatures was also lower.

  • 백금$(Pt)/0.1M\;H_2SO_4$, 전해질 계면에서 교류임피던스 측정과 위상이동 방법을 사용하여 Langmuir 흡착등온식을 정성적으로 해석하였다. 위상이동$(\phi)$은 음전위(E<0)와 주파수(f)에 따르며, Pt 일전극(음극)에 흡착된 수소원자$(H_{ads})$의 표면피복율$(\theta)$에 반비례한다. 중간주파수대$(1\~100 Hz)$에서 위상이동 변화$(\phi\;vs.\;E)$는 Langmuir 흡착등온식$(\theta\;vs.\;E)$의 계산과 해석에 사용할 수 있는 실험적인 방법이다. $Pt/0.1M\;H_2SO_4$ 전해질 계면에서 흡착평형상수(K)와 표준자유에너지$({\Delta}G_{ads})$는 각각 $3\times10^{_4}$와 20.1kJ/mol이다.

An Accurate Design Method of Wideband BPF Considering Frequency Dependence of Inverters

  • This paper presents a design method for a wideband bandpass filter (BPF) which compensates for frequency dependency based on the image admittance and image phase. In the proposed method, new compensation methods for the admittance and phase are integrated with the conventional method. The proposed method improves the frequency shift and reduces the unwanted bandwidth when designing more than 20% of the Fractional Bandwidth (FBW), whereas the conventional method exhibits frequency degradation at only 10% FBW. The proposed design theory was verified by applying it to both lumped elements and distributed lines through circuit simulation and measurements without an optimization process. The measurement results demonstrate improvements in the frequency shift and target bandwidth. In the future, an accurate design method based on frequency dependence can be implemented for the next-generation broadband communication system applications.

슬로싱 충격현상 해석을 위한 모형실험과 수치해석 적용에 관한 비교 연구: PIV vs. CFD (Comparative Study on Sloshing Impact Flows between PIV and CFD)

  • In this study, experimental and numerical methods were applied to observe sloshing impact phenomena. A two-dimensional rectangular tank filled with water and air was considered with a specific excitation condition that induced a hydrodynamic impact without an air pocket at the top corner of the tank. High-speed cameras and a pressure measurement system were synchronized, and a particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique was applied to measure the velocity field and corresponding pressure. The experimental condition was implemented in a numerical computation to solve incompressible two-phase flows using a Cartesian-grid method. The discretized solution was obtained using the finite difference and constraint-interpolation-profile (CIP) methods, which adopt a fractional step scheme for coupling the pressure and velocity. The tangent of the hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) scheme was used with the weighed line interface calculation (WLIC) method to capture the interface between the air and water. The calculated impact pressures and velocity fields were compared with experimental data, and the relationship between the local velocity and pressure was investigated based on the computational results.

Analytical Modeling of Conventional and Miniaturization Three-Section Branch-Line Couplers

  • Analytical modeling equations are proposed for the conventional and modified three-section branch-line couplers. The analytical equations are explicit and capable of determining the characteristic impedance of each branch line for the coupler at desired coupling level as well as the suitability of broadband S-parameters analysis. In addition, a bandwidth extension and miniaturization of three-section branch-line coupler using slow-wave and meandering line structures were designed. The modified coupler, which is able to operate within frequencies from 1.5 to 3.32 GHz has been fabricated, tested and compared. A bandwidth extension of 600 MHz and 53% reduced size of the modified coupler have been achieved compared to a conventional coupler. The modified coupler has roughly insertion loss and coupling of -4 dB and -3.2 dB, while the isolation and return loss, respectively less than -14 dB with fractional bandwidth of 77 %, as well as phase imbalances less than $2^{\circ}$ over the operating bandwidth. Overall, the derived analytical model, simulation and measurement results demonstrated a good agreement.

Mobile-DTV 응용을 위한 광대역 주파수 합성기의 설계 (A Design of Wideband Frequency Synthesizer for Mobile-DTV Applications)

  • Mobile-DTV 응용을 위한 분수형 주파수 합성기를 1.8V $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정으로 설계하였다. VCO는 PMOS를 사용하여 위상잡음을 감소시켰고, 인덕터와 캐패시터, 버렉터(varactor)를 선택적으로 스위칭하는 기법을 적용하여 측정 결과 800MHz-1.67GHz 대역에서 동작이 가능한 것을 확인하였다. VCO 이득 곡선의 선형 특성을 개선하기 위해서 버렉터 바이어스 기법을 사용하였고, 개수를 2개로 최소화 하였다. 추가적으로 버렉터 스위칭 기법을 사용해서 VCO 이득 저하 특성을 개선하였다. 또한, VCO 주파수 교정 블록을 사용해서 VCO 이득 저하를 개선하면서, VCO 이득의 간격을 일정하게 유지하도록 설계하였다. 분수형 주파수 분주비를 위한 시그마-델타 변조기의 설계 시 통합 모의실험 기법(co-simulation method)을 적용해서 설계의 정확성과 효율성을 향상시켰다. VCO와 PFD, CP, LF는 Cadence Spectre를 이용하여 검증하였고, 분주기는 Spectre와 Matlab Simulink, ModelSim, HSPICE를 이용하여 검증하였다. 주파수 합성기의 전체 소모 전력은 1.8V 전원 전압에서 18mW이고, VCO의 주파수 영역은 최대 주파수의 약 52.1%가 되는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 VCO의 위상 잡음은 1GHz, 1.5GHz, 2GHz 출력 주파수에서 1MHz 오프셋에서 -100dBc/Hz 이하의 잡음 특성을 확인하였다.
