The top-to-bottom compression strength of corrugated board box is the most important mode of loading during it's no, and it depends largely on the edgewise compression strength of the corrugated board in the cross-machine direction and to a considerable extent on the flexural stiffness in both principal directions (CD; cross-machine direction, MD; machine direction) of the corrugated board. Corrugated board is a sandwich structure with an orthotropic property. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the principal design parameters for board combination of corrugated board from the viewpoint of bending strength through the finite element analysis [FEA] fur the various corrugated board. In general, the flexural stiffness [FS] in the MD was 2-3 times larger than that in the CD, and the effect of liner for the FS of corrugated board was much bigger than that of corrugating medium. The flexural stiffness index [FSI] was high when the stiffness of liner was in the order of inner, outer, and middle liner in double-wall corrugated board [DW], and the effect of the stiffness arrangement or itself reinforcement of corrugating medium on the FSI was not high. In single-wall corrugated board [SW] with DW. the variation of FSI with itself stiffness reinforcement of liner was much bigger than that with stiffness arrangement of liner. The highest FSI was at the ratio of about 2:1:2 for basis weight distribution of outer, middle, and inner liner if the stiffness of liner and total basis weight of corrugated board were equal in DW Secondarily. basis weight was in the order of inner, outer, and middle liner. However, the variation of FSI with basis weight distribution between liner and corrugating medium was much bigger than that with itself basis weight distribution ratio of liner and corrugating medium respectively in both DW and SW. md the FSI was high as more total basis weight was divided into liner. These phenomena fur board combination of corrugated board based on the FEA were well verified by experimental investigation.
Objective: The nm23 gene has been identified as a potential metastasis suppressor gene in various human neoplasms. Both Bcl-2, which promotes cell survival, and Bax, which promotes cell death, have been considered as major factors in controlling the apoptotic pathway. This study was carried out to determine whether these markers are useful in distinguishing potential intrinsic differences in tumor virulence of papillary thyroid cancers. Material and Method: The expressions of nm23, Bcl-2 and Bax have been evaluated using immunohistochemical techniques in 100 pure papillary thyroid cancers and 20 metastatic lymphnodes. The intensity of immnunoreactivity was graded on arbitrary four point scale(grade 0 or 1 : negative reactivity, grade 2 or 3 positive reactivity). The immunoreactivities were analyzed in relation to TNM atage, AMES score, local recurrence and distant metastasis, and that of metastatic LNs was compared with the tumors. Results: The expression of Bcl-2 and bax did not show any statistical differences by TNM stage, AMES score, recurrence, distant metastasis and also between the tumor and metastatic LN. However, the nm23 showed higher expression of Ki67 in distant metastasis than in control group and in metastatic LNs than in the tumors(p<0.05). Conclusion: Although the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein showed no correlation with clinical parameters representing tumor virulence, the nm23 expression could be an useful prognostic factor, especially in predicting nodal or distant metastasis in papillary thyroid cancer.
To understand the function of edges in perception of moving objects, we defined four questions to answer. Is the focus point in visual motion detection of a moving object: (1) the body or the edge of the object, (2) the leading edge or trailing edge of the object, (3) different in scotopic, mesopic and photopic luminance levels, or (4) different for colored objects? We measured the Optomotor Response (OMR) and Edge Triggering Response (ETR) of goldfish. We used a square and sine wave patterns with black and red stripes and a square wave pattern with black and grey stripes to generate OMR's and ETR's in the goldfish. When we used black and red stripes, the black leading edges stimulated an ETR under scotopic conditions, red leading edges stimulated an ETR under photopic conditions, and both black and red leading edges stimulated an ETR under mesopic luminance levels. For black and gray stripes, only black leading edges stimulated an ETR in all three light illumination levels. We observed less OMR and ETR results using the sine wave pattern compared to using the square wave pattern. From these results, we deduced that the goldfish tend to prefer tracking the leading edge of the pattern. The goldfish can also detect the color of the moving pattern under photopic luminance conditions. We decided that ETR is an intriguing factor in OMR, and is suitable as a method of behavioral measurement in visual system research.

The physical and electrical characteristics of MgO and Pt thin-films on it deposited by reactive sputtering and rf magnetron sputtering respectively were analyzed with annealing temperature and time by four point probe SEM and XRD. Under annealing conditions of 100$0^{\circ}C$ and 2 hr, MgO thin-film had the properties of improving Pt adhesion to SiO$_2$and insulation without chemical reaction to Pt thin-film and the sheet resistivity and the resistivity of Pt thin-film deposited on it were 0.1288 Ω/ and 12.88 $\mu$$\Omega$.cm respectively. We made Pt resistance pattern on SiO$_2$/Si substrate by life-off method and fabricated Pt thin-film type microheater for thermal microsensors by Pt-wire Pt-paste and SOG(spin-on-glass). In the temperature range of 25~40$0^{\circ}C$ we estimated TCR(temperature coefficient of resistance) and resistance ratio of thin-film type Pt-RTD(resistance thermometer device). We obtained TCR value of 3927 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ close to the bulk Pt value. Resistance values were varied linearly within the range of the measurement temperature. The thermal characteristics of fabricated thin-films type Pt micorheater were analyzed with Pt-RTD integrated on the same substrate. The heating temperature of Pt microheater could be up to 40$0^{\circ}C$ with 1.5 watts of the heating power.

In order to investigate the effect of Ge addition to the Cu matrix on the microstructure and the critical current density, four kinds of internal tin processed Nb$_3$Sn strands with pure Cu and Cu 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 wt % Ge alloys were drawn to 0.8 mm diameter. The microstructure and critical current of internal tin processed Nb$_3$Sn wires that were heat treated at temperatures ranging from 68$0^{\circ}C$ to 74$0^{\circ}C$ for 240h were investigated. The Ge addition to the matrix did not make workability worse. A Ge rich layer in the Cu-Ge matrix suppressed the growth of the Nb$_3$Sn layer and promoted grain coarsening. The greater the Ge content in the matrix, the lower the net Jc result after Nb$_3$sn reaction heat treatment. There was no significant variation in Jc observed with heat treatment temperature ranging from 68$0^{\circ}C$ to 74$0^{\circ}C$. The values of AC loss of Ge added wires were decreased to 40 % compare with no addition wire. Low AC loss was due to segregation of Ge rich layer in the Cu-Ge matrix. If Ge added wire with thin Nb filaments were fabricated, slow diffusion rate of Sn would be overcome and decreased AC loss that is weak Point of internal tin method.

This paper focuses on the development of a supporting S/W tool for the automated design of an automotive press trim die. To define the die design process based on automation, we analyze the press die design process of the current industry and group repetitive works in the 3D modeling process. The proposed system consists of two modules, namely the template models of the trim steel parts and UI function for their auto-positioning. Four kinds of template models are developed to adapt to various situations and the rules of the interaction formula which are used for checking and correcting the directions of the datum point, datum curve, datum plane are implemented to eliminate errors. The system was developed using CATIA Knowledgeware, CAA(CATIA SDK) and Visual C++, in order for it to function as a plug-in module of CATIA V5, which is one of the major 3D CAD systems in the manufacturing industry. The developed system was tested by applying it to various panels of current automobiles and the results showed that it reduces the time-cost by 74% compared to the traditional method.

Single-well carbon nanotubes (SWNT) have been proposed as a promising candidate for various applications owing to their excellent properties. In particular, their fascinating electrical and mechanical properties could provide a new area for the development of advanced engineering materials. A transparent conductive thin film (TCF) has increased for applications such as liquid crystal displays, touch panels, and flexible displays. Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films, which have been traditionally used as the TCFs, have a serious obstacle in TCFs applications. SWNTs are the most appropriate materials for conductive films for displays due to their excellent high mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. But, a bundle of CNTs has different electrical properties than their individual counterparts. In this work, the fabrication by the spraying process of transparent SWNT films and reduction of its sheet resistance on PET substrates is researched. Arc-discharge SWNTs were dispersed in deionized water by adding sodum dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant and sonicated, followed by the centrifugation. The dispersed SWNT was spray-coated on PET substrate and dried on a hotplate at $100^{\circ}C$. When the spray process was terminated, the TCF was immersed into deionized water to remove the surfactant and then it was dried on hotplate. The TCF film was then treated with ionic doping treatment, rinsed with deionized water and dried. The surface morphology of TCF was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The sheet resistance and optical transmission properties of the TCF were measured with a four-point probe method and a UV-visible spectrometry, respectively. Results, we show that 97 ${\Omega}$/> sheet resistance can be achieved with 81% transmittance at the wavelength of 550 nm. The changes in electrical and optical conductivity of SWNT film before and after ionic doping treatments were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of various metal surface treatments and adhesive systems on the flexural bond strength of composite resin to Au-Ag-Cu-Pd alloy. The specimens were divided into nine groups by the combinations of surface treatment methods and adhesive systems. The types of surface treatment in this study were alumina blasting only, alumina blasting-Sn plating, alumina blasting-heating and three kinds of adhesive system used in this study were Silicoater system(Heraeus Kulzer GmbH,Germany), Superbond C & B(Sun Medical Co.,Ltd.,Japan) and Cesead opaque primer(Kurary Co.,Ltd.,Japan). After surface treatments and adhesive systems were applied, each specimen was built up with Dentacolor composite resin (Heraeus Kulzer GmbH,Germany). Four-point flexural bond strength was measured by Instron universal testing machine (Model 4301,U.S.A.) and modes of failure were observed by SEM(JEOL,SSM-840A,Japan). The obtained results were as follows: 1. The group that was bonded with Superbond C & B after alumina blasting-heating shelved the highest bond strength with significant difference among the groups, except the group with Cesead opaque primer after alumina blasting-Sn plating(P<0.05). 2. In the groups bonded with Cesead opaque primer, there was significant difference only in the bond strength between the alumina blasting-Sn plating group and alumina blasting group, where the former showed a higher bond strength(P<0.05). 3. In the groups bonded with Silicoater system, there were no significant differences in bond strength regardless of the surface treatment method(P<0.05). 4. In SEM evaluation, the groups of high bond strength, especially bonded with Superbond C & B after alumina blasting-heating and Cesead opaque primer after alumina blasting-Sn plating, revealed mainly cohesive-adhesive failure, whereas the others showed the tendency of adhesive failure.

In this paper, an air conditioner peak power control system using electric power line communication has been developed. The air conditioner power control system using RS-485 communication method is hard to install on the existing buildings due to difficulty in cabling, and the system using wireless communication methods has a weak point of not being able to be used in close space, while the developed system has its own advantages of overcoming the above mentioned obstacles. In addition, the system is extended to support not only single-phase electricity system but also three-phase four-wire electricity system, and therefore can be installed anywhere in the domestic environment. The system also has enhanced the ease of deployment, operational stability and economical efficiency by compact circuit design. Considering the current state requiring the energy sayings, the system would greatly contribute to the widespread use of the air conditioner power control system. The superiority in the performance and stability of the system has been proved by the design verification of each component such as remote air conditioner controller, electric power line gateway and so on, and the field test of the whole system.

This Qualitative study investigated a preservice teacher's developing views of learning with the influence of constructivist epistemology taught in the Math, Science, and Technology Education (MSAT) Master of Education (M. Ed.) preservice teacher education program. The MSAT teacher education program employs constructivist aspects of teacher education and generates applications of constructivism to the practice of teaching, as revealed by faculty interview data. It is important at this point to emphasize that there are significant epistemological and ontological differences between different versions of educational constructivism (i.e., individual, radical, and social constructivism) and that these differences imply different pedagogical practices. For the 16 preservice teachers included in a larger study, the epistemological and ontological characteristics for each teacher's developing views of learning were identified through four in-depth interviews. Data from interviews were used to construct a constructivist profile for each preservice teacher's views of learning (i.e., a profile containing ontological beliefs, epistemological commitments, and pedagogical beliefs). Of the sixteen participants in the larger study, five significantly changed ontological and epistemological beliefs and eleven did not. Profile changes for the five who did change also resulted in changes in their conceptions of science teaching and learning (CSTL). In this article, one of the five teachers case was presented with rich quotes. This case study documents how a preservice teacher transferred his ontological and epistemological beliefs to his pedagogical beliefs and maintained the consistency between his philosophical beliefs and CSTL. It also demonstrated implications that changes in components for an educational constructivist profile have for a preservice teacher's view of himself as teacher. Data indicated the possibility that a constructivist-oriented preservice teacher education program can influence students' conceptions of science teaching and learning by explicitly introducing constructivism as an epistemology rather than as a specific method of instruction. Implications for both instructional practices of teacher education programmes and research are discussed.
