  • At the fuel processing system (FPS) of fuel cell vehicle, hydrogen recirculation blower (HRB) is used for the recirculation of remained hydrogen after reaction. In this paper, noise and vibration improvement of HRB is studied by changing design and control. It is checked the campbell diagram and critical speed for stability of rotor, and housing stiffness is improved using simulation of frequency response function (FRF). A method is suggested that can decrease the unbalance amount of the rotor and impeller which main source of noise and vibration. In order to reduce the noise during deceleration of blower, electrical braking is applied and tested the risk impact of durability. Founded the optimum switching frequency of the motor control, and reduced the idle rpm by increasing of aerodynamic performance. The superiority of paper is proved by measurement of the improved product's noise and vibration.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the theatrical aesthetics of the performances which was produced by the theater director, Yang Jung-Ung. Yang has been one of the most influential directors working in Korea in the last 15 years. He has put up performances all over the world with the theater members from his company called Yohangza, which was founded by him in 1997, and working as the director, portrayed his style of the theatrical aesthetics through the works of its plays and musical products. In 2012, this company performed A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. A Midsummer Night's Dream was invited to be staged at the Barbican Center in 2006. In the same year, it received the grand prize and the Audience Choice award at the Gdansk International Shakespeare Festival in Poland. The musical products like A Good Woman from Seoul and the modern Opera Wozeck are representative works of Yohangza, which are known for a unique way of exploring the meaning of life. The 2009 plays Hamlet and Peer Gynt represent Yohangza's simpler yet more insightful theatrical style. Peer Gynt, which debuted at the LG Art Center, made headlines for its innovative staging. It received the grand prix, Best Director and Best Stage Art awards at the 2009 Korea Theater Awards. Yohangza's plays show two-side "image-based" works. The company drastically reduced verbal lines and enriched the plays with Korean sentiment and aesthetics, but their scripts contained many poetic lines full of overtones. They showed a theatrical mise-en-scene of images, energetic dance, songs in chorus and percussion. For example, Korean sentiments were subtly blended into the two Shakespeare's plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Nights. Their performance combines music, mime, song and dance to create an exhilarating adaptation of Shakespeare's inventive and glittering comedy. In addition, the style of Yohangza Theatre Company is a collision of the past and the present: a reworking of existing Korean styles and themes infused with contemporary elements and full of unique exploration in the plays.

Yet, it is a type of business that fits a company of certain size, and its establishment process is complicated due to various reasons such as investor protection. It is also required to have strict organization structure based on the principle of separation of ownership and management. Accordingly, as the principles may undermine entrepreneur's will to start business, there has been dramatic change in legal system on business establishment and management since 2010. The changes include streamlined process at the foundation stage and digitalization of many regulations on business establishment and operation for more convenience in starting business. Also, new business types for small-sized companies were adopted, and freedom to select business name has been enhanced. The issue of non-par value stock has been allowed, and various types of stock have been adopted for more convenient financing, defense against hostile M&A, and easier business succession.

  • Purpose - This study proposes a strategic model for the late mover to effectively penetrate an industry that is dominated by a leading company. Thus, this study presents strategic implications for several late movers in overcoming the advantages of the leading company. Research design, data, and methodology - This study begins with a literature review followed by the formation of a strategic model that consists of: Repositioning, Utilization of Competence, Strategic Leadership, and Innovation. Specifically, this research analyzes LG Electronics (LG) as an example and investigates how LG infiltrates and grows in the water purifier market, overcoming the advantages of the powerful leading company. Results - The major steps taken by LG are summarized into four. First, LG studied the market, which had been conventionally treated as a single market. To penetrate the market, LG founded a new, special market segment. Subsequently, LG further segmented the market, executing a marketing strategy for each segment. Second, the unbending will of top managers was a key factor that addressed the challenge persistently. Third, even though LG was the late mover in the water purifier market, it had several technology competences such as compressor, refrigeration cycles, and algorithms. LG had profound knowledge in technology and used it effectively. Fourth, LG created a premium market through three innovative and distinguished factors such as the stainless water tank, sterilization service, and luxury design. Conclusions - This research draws four key findings from the example of the late mover in the water purifier industry: the reestablishment of a strategic position based on environmental change is an effective strategy for the late mover; strategic leadership is an important motive to generate late mover performance; and the late mover can utilize its existing knowledge and resources to overcome the first mover, such as presenting new added value compared to existing products as an effective catch-up strategy. Consequentially, through the study of performance determinants and the market penetration strategy of the late mover, this research has significance in providing basic material for companies trying to penetrate the market.

  • This case focuses on WE CAN Cookies, a social enterprise in South Korea that was founded in 2001 with the support of the Korean Roman Catholic Church. WE CAN Cookies specializes in the making of high quality organic cookies. As a nonprofit organization that uses a labor force of mostly mentally disabled workers, the company faces many challenges that normal companies do not experience. The company had to initially overcome the social prejudice that the handicapped cannot make good cookies. Despite the religious background and social agenda of the company, it started making inroads as a cookie-making business only after its managers, including the nuns who run it began adopting modern management philosophies and practices. The WE CAN Cookies case illustrates three main marketing-related concepts: One, WE CAN Cookies is a good example of how social enterprises face a broader spectrum of challenges when compared to conventional profit-seeking enterprises. Two, WE CAN Cookies demonstrates that social enterprises need flexibility in formulating their business strategies. Even though WE CAN Cookies is subject to many constraints, as a social enterprise it can also take advantage of new opportunities for obtaining support from the government and from the private sector. Three, WE CAN Cookies shows that these types of operations need to create greater balance in their social and business competencies to ensure the long term viability. Social enterprises are certified by governments with the stated goal of improving the lives and the wellbeing of special interest group. As important as achieving these objectives are, social enterprises also must additionally be able to build their operational capabilities not only in manufacturing but also in functions such as marketing.

  • Most of companies have analyzed markets continually and founded market strategies based on these analyses to gain competitive advantage. But sometimes some mistaken market analyses make the strategic decision-making of companies bring unexpected results. This because many companies just research or consider only the present condition, so they can't reflect dynamic change and the delayed feedback effect and then found the market strategy in the short-term angle rather than analyze the structural features of market on the whole. For that reason, this paper will describe how effective system thinking and system dynamics are as they found strategy of company for solving the problems and trying to find better alternative proposal by explaining process of founding market strategy with a casual loop diagram and a simulation model in the local government server market.

  • A great deal of attention has been paid to entrepreneurship and social enterprises that help improve societies' ability to solve social problems and develop new ways of thinking (Drucker 1995). Dong Wha Pharm, founded in 1897, was the first social enterprise in South Korea. The purpose of this study is to provide meaningful insights into the theoretical development of social entrepreneurship and how to achieve social innovation by fostering social entrepreneurship. Drawing on the five critical elements of social entrepreneurship developed by Dees (1998), we explore social entrepreneurship by investigating the first Korean social entrepreneur, Kang Min, the founder of Dong Wha, a 125-year-old company in South Korea. The findings offer meaningful and valuable insights to the literature on social entrepreneurship and to current and potential social entrepreneurs wanting to find new ways to achieve social improvement and move society forward.
