안벽 설계변수의 신뢰성 해석과 생애주기비용 분석 (Life Cycle Cost & Reliability Analysis of Quaywall Design Parameters)

  • Reliability and sensitivity analysis of the design parameters for a section of caisson type quaywall which is the most applicable in Korea were performed. It was tried to estimate probabilities of failure for the system of the multiple failure modes and to analyze LCC in the quaywall structure. The reliability analysis was performed by FORM. Also, sensitivity indices were estimated using the reliability indices, which may be used inferring effects of each design parameter on the reliability indices. As a result, the coefficient of friction between caisson and rubble, the moment by self weight and the moment of resistance mostly affected on the reliability indices in the sliding, overturning and foundation failure, respectively. System reliability theorem was applied in order to estimate the probabilities of failure for the system of the multiple failure modes. As the results of estimation of the probabilities of failure for the system, all cases were more conservative than those for the elements, according to both failure mode and load combination applied to series system. It entirely exceeded the target reliability index, but it was consistent with the theorem. According to the optimum LCC with the width of the caisson, the probability of failure exceeded the target probability of failure at then time. Therefore, it was judged to be insufficient to the practical application.

토목섬유로 보강된 얕은기초 모래지반의 지지력 (Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundation on Geosynthetic Reinforced Sand)

  • 느슨한 모래지반에서 보강재 층수 증가와 보강재의 강성과 형태 변화 그리고 얕은 기초 직하에 매설된 연성관의 깊이 등의 변화가 지지력-침하 곡선에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 일련의 모형실험을 수행하였다. 시험결과, 무보강토 경우는 파괴형태가 국부전단으로 나타났으나 보강재 층수가 2층 이상이 되면 파괴형태는 국부전단에서 전반전단으로 바뀌고, 최적보강재 층수는 2층 이며, 지지력 개선에 있어서는 보강재의 초기강성과 형태가 최대인 장강도보다 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 무보강토에서 기초 직하에 연성관이 매설된 경우, 연성관의 매설 깊이가 기초 폭보다 얕으면 지지력과 극한지지력은 현저하게 감소하고, 보강토의 경우 연성관의 매설 깊이가 기초 폭보다 얕으면 파괴형태는 전반전단에서 국부전단으로 바뀌는 것으로 나타났다.

무한 빙판에서의 쇄빙력과 파단 빙편의 크기 예측 (Estimation of Icebreaking Forces and Failure Length of Ice Rubbles on Infinite Ice Sheet)

  • Ice rubble pieces broken by the bow impact load and side hull of an icebreaking vessel usually pass along the ship's bottom hull and may hit the propeller/rudder or other stern structures causing serious damage to ship's hull . Therefore it is important to estimate the size of broken ice pieces during the icebreaking process. The dynamic interaction process of icebreaker with infinite ice sheet is simplified as a wedge type beam of finite length supported by elastic foundation. The wedge type ice beam is leaded with vertical impact forces due to the inclined bow stem of icebreaking vessels. The numerical model provides locations of maximum dynamic bending moment where extreme tensile stress arises and also possible fracture occurs. The model can predict a failure length of broken ice sheet given design parameters. The results are compared to Nevel(1961)'s analytical solution for static load and observed pattern of ice sheet failure onboard an icebreaker. Also by comparing computed failure length with the characteristic length, the meaning of ice rubble sizes is discussed.

Study on failure mechanism of line contact structures of nuclear graphite

  • Line contact structures, such as the contact between graphite brick and graphite tenon, widely exist in high-temperature gas-cooled reactors. Due to the stress concentration effect, the line contact area is one of the dangerous positions prone to failure in the nuclear reactor core. In this paper, the failure mechanism of line contact structures composed of IG11 nuclear graphite column and brick were investigated by means of experiment and finite element simulation. It was found that the failure process mainly includes three stages: firstly, the damage accumulation in nuclear graphite material led to the characteristic yielding of the line contact structure, but no macroscopic failure can be observed at this stage; secondly, the stresses near the contact area met Mohr failure criterion, and a crack initiated and propagated laterally in the contact zone, that is, local macroscopic failure occurred at this stage; finally, a second crack initiated in the contact area and developed in to a Y-shape, resulting in the final failure of the structure. This study lays a foundation for the structural design and safety assessment of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.

Experimental study on the vertical bearing behavior of nodular diaphragm wall in sandy soil based on PIV technique

  • The nodular diaphragm wall (NDW) is a novel type of foundation with favorable engineering characteristics, which has already been utilized in high-rise buildings and high-speed railways. Compared to traditional diaphragm walls, the NDW offers significantly improved vertical bearing capacity due to the presence of nodular parts while reducing construction time and excavation work. Despite its potential, research on the vertical bearing characteristics of NDW requires further study, and the investigation and visualization of its displacement pattern and failure mode are scant. Meanwhile, the measurement of the force component acting on the nodular parts remains challenging. In this paper, the vertical bearing characteristics of NDW are studied in detail through the indoor model test, and the displacement and failure mode of the foundation is analyzed using particle image velocimetry (PIV) technology. The principles and methods for monitoring the force acting on the nodular parts are described in detail. The research results show that the nodular part plays an essential role in the bearing capacity of the NDW, and its maximum load-bearing ratio can reach 30.92%. The existence of the bottom nodular part contributes more to the bearing capacity of the foundation compared to the middle nodular part, and the use of both middle and bottom nodular parts increases the bearing capacity of the foundation by about 9~12% compared to a single nodular part of the NDW. The increase in the number of nodular parts cannot produce a simple superposition effect on the resistance born by the nodular parts since the nodular parts have an insignificant influence on the exertion and distribution of the skin friction of NDW. The existence of the nodular part changes the displacement field of the soil around NDW and increases the displacement influence range of the foundation to a certain extent. For NDWs with three different nodal arrangements, the failure modes of the foundations appear to be local shear failures. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the performance and behavior of NDWs, which will aid in their effective utilization and further research in the field.

광탄성 측정 기법을 이용한 입상체 초기 조건의 얕은 기초 지지력에 대한 영향 평가 (Evaluation of the Effect of Initial Condition of the Granular Assembly on the Bearing Capacity of the Shallow Foundation using Photoelastic Measurement Technique)

  • 고전적인 한계 평형 해석에서 얕은 기초의 지지력은 토체 내부의 파괴면을 가정하여 시작한다. 하지만 입상체 역학의 관점에서 토체의 파괴는 접촉력 사슬 구조의 국부적인 좌굴에 의해 시작된다. 본 연구에서는 모형 토립자를 이용하여 구성한 입상체 상부에 얕은 기초 하중을 재하하여 파괴 시까지 입상체 내부의 접촉력 사슬 분포가 어떻게 변화하는지 관찰하였다. 초기 결함이 없이 규칙적인 구조를 가지는 조건과 입상체 하부에 초기 국부적인 불완전성이 있는 조건을 가진 두 가지 종류의 입상체를 준비하여 실험하였다. 입상체 내부에서 발생하는 접촉력 사슬 구조의 방향 분포는 초기 불완전성의 여부에 따라 매우 큰 차이를 보였다. 초기 불완전성이 있는 입상체는 결함이 없는 입상체가 견딘 하중의 67%만을 견딜 수 있었다.

사질토 지반에서 Shell 기초 거동에 대한 연구 (A Study on Shell Foundation Behaviour in Cohesionless Soil)

  • 본 논문은 기초의 거동에 영향을 주는 여러 가지 인자 중 특히, 기초형상에 변화를 주었을 경우 기초의 거동에 초점을 두고 연구하였다. 시초형상으로는 시공성 및 경제성이 가장 우수하다고 판단되는 Shell기초 형태를 제시하였고 수치해석 및 실내모형시험을 실시하여 도출한 결과 값과 Terzaghi, Meyerhof등의 이론값을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 일반기초에 비해 Shell 기초의 침하는 15%정도 크게 발생되는 것으로 나타났으나, 지지력은 $20%{\sim}25% 정도 향상되는 결과를 얻었다. 특히 Shell 기초 $60^{\circ}$인 경우 일반 기초에 비해 33%의 지지력이 향상되는 것을 알 수 있었으므로 연구된 기초형상이 실용화 되면 경제성과 안정성이 확보된 기초 설계기술에 공헌할 것으로 기대 된다.

Seismic response study of tower-line system considering bolt slippage under foundation displacement

  • Once the foundation displacement of the transmission tower occurs, additional stress will be generated on the tower members, which will affect the seismic response of transmission tower-line systems (TTLSs). Furthermore, existing research has shown that the reciprocating slippage of joints needs to be considered in the seismic analysis. The hysteretic behavior of joints is obtained by model tests or numerical simulations, which leads to the low modeling efficiency of TTLSs. Therefore, this paper first utilized numerical simulation and model tests to construct a BP neural network for predicting the skeleton curve of joints, and then a numerical model for a TTLS considering the bolt slippage was established. Then, the seismic response of the TTLS under foundation displacement was studied, and the member stress changes and the failed member distribution of the tower were analyzed. The influence of foundation displacement on the seismic performance were discussed. The results showed that the trained BP neural network could accurately predict the hysteresis performance of joints. The slippage could offset part of the additional stress caused by foundation settlement and reduce the stress of some members when the TTLS with foundation settlement was under earthquakes. The failure members were mainly distributed at the diagonal members of the tower leg adjacent to the foundation settlement and that of the tower body. To accurately analyze the seismic performance of TTLSs, the influence of foundation displacement and the joint effect should be considered, and the BP neural network can be used to improve modeling efficiency.

CFT 교각 기초부의 거동특성 (Behavior of the Foundation of Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Pier)

  • 본 연구는 CFT 교각 기초부의 구조상세 개선을 목적으로 상용 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용하여 축하중 및 횡하중을 받는 강재기둥 베이스플레이트 접합부의 전반적인 구조적 거동과 설계변수의 영향을 검토하고자 한다. 이를 위해 현행 교각 기초부의 설계기준을 분석하였고, 선행연구의 실험을 토대로 수치해석을 실시하여 해석기법의 타당성을 검증하였다. 검증된 해석기법을 이용하여 교각 기초부의 파괴형상 및 응력분포를 분석하였으며, 다양한 설계변수(베이스플레이트, 이형철근, 기둥의 강종 및 치수)가 전체 구조물에 미치는 영향을 비교분석하였다.

대수심 대구경 현장타설말뚝의 지지력에 대한 신뢰성 해석을 이용한 허용응력 설계의 파괴확률 평가 연구 (A Study on Estimation of Failure Probability of Allowable Stress Design using Reliability Analysis to the Bearing Capacity the Deep Water Depth Large-diameter Drilled Shaft)

  • 시험 설계된 초장대 사장교의 고주탑을 지지하는 대수심 대형 복합기초의 지중 대구경 현장타설말뚝을 허용응력 설계법으로 설계하고, 지지력에 대한 신뢰성 해석을 통해 파괴확률을 평가하였다. 말뚝의 지지력에 대한 허용응력 설계 결과를 신뢰성 해석으로 분석하였으며 파괴확률은 CFEM의 경우 0.12 %, 한국도로공사기준 방법의 경우 0.0002 %, 구조물기초설계기준의 경우 0.003 %였다. 허용응력 설계에서는 안전율 3을 적용하여 대구경 현장타설말뚝의 허용지지력을 구하였으며, 그 결과에 대한 신뢰성 해석을 실시하였다. AASHTO(2007)에서 제시하고 있는 파괴확률($P_f$) 0.02 %일 때 CFEM 방법에서는 근입 깊이가 25 % 만큼 증가하였으며 한국도로공사기준(KHCC)에서는 근입깊이를 60 %, 구조물기초설계기준(SFDC)에서는 근입 깊이를 89 % 만큼 감소시킬 수 있었다.
