Recent studies focus on how open innovation strategies affect innovation in enterprises, but lack research related to the forms of openness. There is also a paradox that an entity should open up for open innovation but also protect its innovation. In this regard, the need for research on innovation protection has expanded. Therefore, this study looked at the effect of the form of openness on product innovation, and explored how the relationship between the form of openness and product innovation depends on the appropriation mechanisms. This study used data from the Korean Innovation Survey(KIS), which was developed and distributed by the OECD. The main findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, the forms of openness has a positive effect on product innovation. Specifically, external search has had a positive impact on exploitative innovation, and collaboration has shown to have a positive impact on exploratory innovation. Second, the appropriation mechanisms has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between the forms of openness and product innovation. Specifically, it was shown that formal appropriation mechanisms had a positive effect on the relationship between external search and product innovation, and that informal appropriation mechanisms had a positive effect on the relationship between collaboration and exploratory innovation. This study is expected to contribute to: First, this study has divided the forms of openness into external search and collaboration, unlike the existing method, and thus identified the type of product innovation and the appropriation mechanisms and forms of openness by identifying the impact on product innovation. Second, depending on the characteristics of the appropriation mechanisms, it was identified that it had the moderating effect on the forms of openness and the relationship of product innovation, so that depending on the type of openness and the type of product innovation, the type of appropriation mechanisms more suitable was identified.
Purpose This study exploratory investigated the effects of the fit between forms of knowledge management(KM) strategy and types of information technology(IT) capability on the kinds of innovations such as product and process innovations. In this study, the openness of innovations that affects the innovations of a firm is considered. Design/methodology/approach For this empirical study, 104 manufacturing firms' data were finally collected through field survey. For the analysis of the data, cluster analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed. Findings This study demonstrated that when a system-oriented KM strategy is adopted, IT flexibility, which supports the implementation of a system-oriented strategy, is highly employed and utilized. It was also found that under a dynamic KM strategy, both IT integration and IT flexibility are highly employed. For the innovation of a firm, it was found that when a system-oriented strategy is employed and the flexibility of IT is highly adopted, the levels of product innovation are enhanced. Under a dynamic strategy, when the degrees of IT integration and IT flexibility are high, high levels of product and process innovations were empirically found. The impact of innovation openness on the innovations of a firm were partially demonstrated. Finally, the positive impact of the innovations on the improvement of performance in manufacturing firms were demonstrated.
This study empirically examined the differences in degrees of product or process innovations according to the activation forms of all knowledge management (KM) processes (i.e., socialization, internalization, externalization, and combination), which are influenced by the usage patterns of management control systems (MCS)(i.e., interactive and diagnostic usage patterns). We empirically investigated and identified the links among usage patterns of MCS, the activation forms of KM processes, and the kinds of innovation promoted. Under high competitive conditions, it was found that the interactive usage of MCS is relatively more preferred and enhanced. However, when environmental uncertainty is high, it was shown that the diagnostic use of MCS is more emphasized. Thus, it is evident that the use patterns of MCS are determined by environmental conditions. From the results of this study, it was suggested that under high interactive use of MCS, the activation of socialization and internalization is more enhanced than the facilitation of externalization. It was also observed that when both interactive and diagnostic usage of MCS are high, KM processes are more activated and strengthened. The results indicated that under high activation of KM processes, product innovation as well as process innovation are more frequently occurred. Finally, the results of this study suggested that according to the levels of innovation openness, major innovations are more frequently occurred and promoted than minor innovations.

This research aims to generalize the conceptual basis of precariousness of employment, study the factors and scale of unsustainable of employment in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The concept of precariousness of employment is formed in social and economic studies about 40 years ago, but objective and subjective conditions and forms of unsustainable employment existed before. This study proposes a classification of forms of precariousness of employment on 16 criteria: the duration and timing of agreements, contract terms, the nature of income; the degree of labor autonomy; the level of formality; the level of openness; the level of vulnerability; the conditions of growth of qualification; the level of flexibility; the level of stability; regularity; the severity of the danger of work; in relation to the workplace; the quality of employment, the level of social security. In this research highlighted factors (globalization, demography, migration, structure factors, shadow and informal economy, social development and living standards, unemployment), and systematized certain trends of precariousness of employment, channels and means, forms of manifestation. The empirical analysis identified of the labor potential of the Eurasian countries and new quantitative estimates of the levels of unsustainable employment in the Eurasian Economic Space.
The purpose of this research is to find applicable design characteristics and methods of communal spaces in vertical urban multi-family housing. With this goal, several overseas' multi-family housing projects are selected and their communal spaces are identified. The design characteristics of the communal spaces are analyzed with a special focus on the territories such as an individual unit boundary, building interior and exterior boundary. In terms of the framework for analysis, territoriality, openness, and unique characteristics are reviewed. As a result, the communal spaces are created using various spatial composition methods such as addition, subtraction, connection, extension, accumulation, and isolation. The communal space programs are integrated in plans and sections throughout the buildings. Visual openness and connection with surrounding urban environments are articulated by void spaces, transparent and translucent building materials, green spaces, and applications of graphical images. Communal identities and aesthetics are emphasized by unique building forms and space arrangements. The uses of finish materials, colors, objects, and images add strong characters to the communal spaces. For a further research, it is necessary to combine a design method study with residents' behaviors and community interactions.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic information about design guidelines of activity areas in elderly nursing facilities. For the study, the activity areas of 44 facilities in Korea were investigated to categorize their spatial compositions and forms, and then a case study about 19 facilities was conducted to analyse their hierarchical characteristics. The results of the study were as follows: First, the major type of spatial composition among 44 research facilities was concentration, but compartment type was the main among unit-care facilities. By the year, all the types of spatial composition were evenly distributed during recent five years, while concentration type was about 40% before 2003. Second, the major form of activity areas was hall or corridor extension for large group. But there was more alcove or separation form among small group spaces. Third, in the case analysis about hierarchical characteristics, hall and corridor extension form met the requirements of accessibility and openness of public and semi-public areas. On the other hand, separation form had a problem in satisfying both requirements. The semi-private areas, which were around the elderly bedrooms and the elderly were able to watch activities in, were not sufficient in many facilities. Fourth, the division of public and semi-public area was mainly by furniture, and the individuality of semi-private area was defined by dead-end place and corner seats of the window or the corridor. The diversity of semi-private area was likely to be appeared in connection or distribution type. On the basis of the results, the basic design guidelines for activity areas in elderly nursing facilities could be suggested as follows: On the whole, connection or distribution type in spatial composition is more efficient for hierarchical flow than concentration or compartment type is, especially in Korean facilities having many elderly residents per floor. In detail, the design of public and semi-public area should be focused on their openness and accessibility. The recommended forms of activity areas were hall or corridor extension in public area, and living room, corridor extension, or large corridor in semi-public area to effectively function as large or small group spaces. In semi-private areas, the spatial diversity and individuality should be considered.

As an alternative for restoring a sense of community which has been broken up due to urban residence redevelopment, this study focuses on structural characteristics according to physical location of central squares in apartment complexes. Central squares do not simply function as inner-aiming and self-completed spaces for the residents, but their role can be expanded to a core location which encourages neighbors to communicate and interact with each other. The suppositions for this study are as follows. Structural characteristics according to the physical locations of the central squares in apartment complexes affect apartment residents' openness toward their neighbors and non-residents' accessibility to the square. At the same time, it influences the sense of community. In addition, psychological distance which is represented as psychological openness and accessibility forms a reciprocal relationship with the sense of community. For the study, we first categorized central squares as either open-structure or closed-structure based on how accessible it is from outside the apartment complex. According to these types of central squares, Sillim Prugio, Banghak Deasang Town Hyundai, Gwanak Prugio and Banghak Samsung Raemian 1 which have similar conditions and different structures were selected as sites of the study. Then each apartment complex was classified by apartment residents and non-residents so that eight groups were prepared for the survey. The results of the questionnaire survey especially regarding measuring the sense of community, psychological openness and accessibility indicated that the suppositions were right. Hence, the sense of community, psychological openness and accessibility are high in a central square with an open-structure while high standards of psychological openness and accessibility guarantee a positive sense of community. This study is meaningful in that it verifies that the physical location of central squares is reciprocally related to psychological openness, accessibility and a sense of community. At the same time, this study may serve as theoretical grounds for the planning and construction of practical central squares.

Hypertext is a web form consisted of HTML(hypertext markup language) which is used in Internet. Hypertext in costume is the product of modem industrial society. Hypertext is not a mechanical technique that enlarges external capacity of human beings. It is rather a motif that extends the internal ability of human beings. It brings about the social innovation by extending the expression realm of costume and providing the various views of recognition. This study regards costume not as an artistic work but as a text which interacts in the open relationship of human body, society and culture and causes dynamic generation of meaning. This study distinguishes Plasticitic Characteristics of Hypertext in Costume with intertextuality, rhizome, interactivity in the structural characteristics of hypertext which is a typical trait of digital culture of openness and variousness. In conclusion, this study clarified plasticitic value of modem costume, which expresses vague isms and the pargidm of multi-typed culture most sensitively and condretley, and expressional forms in relation with the structural characteristics of hypertext.
The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of design council criteria of metropolitan cities in Koreas. For comparative analysis, four main concepts are used ; 1) self-administering vs discretionary 2) prescriptive vs performance 3) conformity vs contrast 4) point system of criteria. The results of this study were as follows; 1) there were three types of cirteria; strong discretionary (DG), discretionary oriented (BS, US) and combination type (SL, DJ, ICN, GJ) 2) structural properties of forms are controlled by prescriptive criteria, and layout or design elements by performance criteria 3) visual openness and diversity are main items of most metropolitan cities 4) street-faced design was neglected but tended to focus on the self-contained layout 5) visual density indexes were diversified from elevation blockage degree. For further advanced research, it is necessary to investigate the actual effects and differences of regulative types - prescriptive vs performance, and of each design criteria, especially prescriptive ones in improving the design quality.
Digital information society shows a variety of contents of cross-categorial digital media in their inner or outer forms and concepts of the artistic aspects. In order to cope with such a complicated, unexpected trend in digital media and its industry, a new approach in the design process needs to be developed and adjusted with the new equipment of the creativity-thinking process of 'the Multi-Sensory Device (MSD),' 'the Multi-Dimensional Device (MDD),' and 'the Storytelling Device (SD)' in the Prism Effect-based Creativity-Thinking Process (PECTP). The PECTP is in principle designed to practically work with the four distinct techniques: 1) Physical Activity, 2) Linguistic Activity, 3) Visual Activity, and 4) Complex Activity. Consequently, this thesis notes that the nature of the cross-categorial design contents is necessarily non-directional since the creativity power inside the Prism Effect results in openness and diversity.
