A Study on Quantification of Kinesthetic Sense Using Human Sensibility Ergonomics Approach (운동감의 정량화를 위한 감성공학적 기법 개발에 관한 연구)

  • When grasping a movable object or making an object move, humans feel kinesthetic sense. The kinesthetic sense is the human sense that the human feels in response to the motion acted on him. The objective of the paper is to transform the kinesthetic sense associated with the human arm into the quantified data that are useful from the engineering viewpoint. A 2-dimensional motion generator composed of two linear motors was developed to provide various motion patterns. It can change its stiffness and damping values on the real-time basis by properly regulating the force generated by the linear motors. Based on Taguchi method, the most dominant factors to affect the kinesthetic sense were investigated. Also, a reference function adequate to quantify the kinesthetic sense was found. Based on this function, the effects of changes in stiffness and damping on the kinesthetic sense were investigated. Various tests show that the damping is a more dominant factor than the stiffness in forming the kinesthetic sense.

  • The formed tool is used to machine the unique shape of rubber seal for geometrical shaping and reduction of cutting time. The bearing rubber seal produced by hot press forming has complex geometry for the complex geometrical shape to prevent leakage of lubricant oil and influx of the dust effectively. Because it is difficult to machine the unique shape exactly by the conventional tool, the formed tool is used in machining mold of the seal. In this paper, It is performed for selection of the formed tool to investigate cutting edge wear, cutting force, and surface quality. Also, an efficient high precision machining is proposed on the experiment data.

Development of Manufacturing Method of Vessel for Keeping Warm by Hydraulic Bulging

  • Bulging is a forming method to shape die cavity by using hydraulic pressure in tube or vessel. Bulging machine and die were developed in order to produce vessel for keeping warm. Bulging machine is a double type with two horizontal cylinders for bulging of two pieces at the same time. The developed die system has one bulging die and two drawing dies for necking at both ends of the tube. The diameter of tube expands by hydraulic pressure in tube. At the same time, thrust at both ends of the tube pushes tube in the direction of expansion to obtain high expansion rate with no crack. In this study, the bulging properties were investigated to solve tube crack and necking in manufacturing vessel by combining bulging and drawing. As a result, high expanding rate of tube radius without crack, precision necking and high productivity were obtained.

  • The rapid progress of automobile industry has led to a demand for sheet metal products and the new forming technology for complex product is required. In Deep Drawing process of steel sheet, especially stainless steel sheet at room temperture, some intermediate annealing need to be added to lessen strain hardening effect. The present study is concerned with the wram deep drawing of stainless steel sheet. In order to reduce the number of working process. the limit drawing ration is considered as main parameter. In this study, the effect of process variables such a sblank holder force, working temperature and lubricant on limit drawing ration is investigated . Experiments are carried out for the hemisherical and sqare shape at room and warm temperature respectively. The drawing loads and thickness deviation accoring to process variables measured . As the result of apploying those experimental data to the commerical butt product, the number of process can be reduced and good quality of products can be obtained.

  • Stainless steel sheets are widely used to produce electrical appliances. But there are various problems occured in forming stainless steel sheets such as scratch, local fracture, earing. So the productivity of electrical appliances made of stainless steel sheets is decreased. And it is very important to improve the formability of stainless steel sheets. In this study, rectangular cup drawing tests have been carried out to obtain optimum process parameters for improving the formablity of stainless steel sheets. In the tests, selected process parameters are materials of dies and punches, lubricating conditions, and blank holding force. From the test results, we suggest the appropriate conditions to be applicable to the actual manufacturing processes.

  • This study describes a simulation of two-dimensional bubble forming and motion by the Lattice Boltzmann Method with the phase field equation. The free energy model is used to treat the interfacial force and deformation of binary fluids system, drawn into a T-junction the micro channel. A numerical simulation of a binary flow in a cross-junction channel is carried out by using the parallel computation method. The aim in this investigation is to examine the applicability of LBM to numerical analysis of binary fluid separation and motion in the micro channel.

Effect of Grain Boundary Energy on the Shrinkage Rate of Solid State Sintering (고상소결중의 수축률 변화에 미치는 입계에너지의 영향)

  • The shrinkage rate of solid state sintering has been theoretically derived by combining the rate equation of material transport and the net free energy change resulting from the decrease of solid-vapor interface and the increase of grain boundary during sintering. For a sinteing model an idealized situation of the spherical particles with BCC packing was taken as the initial condition and the shrinkage was assumed to occur by forming the flat circualr grain boundaries on each particle. The plotted shrinkage rates as a function of grain boundary to surface energy ratio $(gamma_g/gamma_s)$ have shown that the relative density increases linearly at the initial stage of sintering but the shrinkage rate is decreased upon further sintering due to a decrease in driving force for densificaton. It has been also shown that the densification is critically affected by the $gamma_g/gamma_s$ ratio. In order to get the complete densificatin the ratio should be less than $sqrt{3}$. Any additive or atmospheric condition causing the decrease of$_g/gamma_s$ ratio will enhance sintering.

  • In this paper, a time-delay problem of a tele-operated control system is investigated and compensated by neural network. The smith predictor requires an exact system model to deal with a time-delay in the system. To compensate for modeling errors in the configuration of the Smith predictor, a neural network approach is presented. Based on forming the Smith predictor structure, the radial basis function(RBF) neural network estimator is used. Simulation and experimental studies are conducted to show the functionality of the proposed method.

  • Double layered tube is assembled with an inner tube and an outer tube, similar in material or not, contacting closely and deforming simultaneously when subjected to external force. For the manufacturing of double layered tube, the hydroforming assembly technology has several advantages. Therefore in this study, hydroforming characteristics of double layered tube was investigated. The free bulge test was performed to produce formability diagrams of double layered tubes at various forming pressure and feeding amounts. The hexagonal shape hydroforming test was also performed to estimate the dimensional accuracies of double layered tube through the corner filling ratio and the gap between inner and outer tube. Besides experimental analyses, the analytical model that can predict internal pressure for the hydroforming of double-layered tube was proposed and experimentally validated.

  • The control of springback is very important in sheet metal forming since springback affects the dimensional inaccuracy of product. The object of this study is to design the manufacturing process for the improvement of the performance of seat rail by DP780. The influence of process variables such as bend angle and pad force on the springback has been firstly investigated through the comparison between the results of FE-analysis and trial out for initial design based on designer's experience. The process variables of the initial design have been modified in order to improve the dimensional accuracy of seat rail from the prediction of springback by FE-analysis. It was shown from experiment that the improved design satisfied the required specifications such as the dimensional accuracy and the strength of seat rail.
