고올 윤활상태에서 형성된 경계막의 특성에 관한 연구 (Characterization of the Boundary Films Formed in Lubricated Sliding at High Temperatures)

  • The boundary films formed in sliding on steel surfaces were characterized using various lubricants. The mechanism of boundary film formation and loss was investigated over a range of temperature. The thickness of the boundary films was monitored in-situ by an ellipsometer, and the composition of the films was analyzed by XPS. The performance of the lubricants is closely associated with boundary film forming ability. In order to achieve high load carrying capacity, a boundary film must be formed on the surface. Sliding is necessary to form the films and some time is also required. As temperature increases, chemical reactivity increases the film formation rate, while the film removal rate increases due to thg decrease of durability of the boundary film material. There is a balance between these two competing mechanisms and this balance is reflected in the boundary film thickness.

동적 센서네트워크에서의 유동적 경계선 추종 제어 (Dynamic Boundary Tracking Control in Active Sensor Network)

  • In this paper, the motion coordination algorithm of mobile agents in active sensor network is proposed to track the dynamic boundary for environmental monitoring. While most of dynamic boundary tracking algorithms in the literature were studied under the assumption that the boundary and/or its evolving rate is known a priori, the proposed algorithm is assumed that the individual active agent can measure the state of environment locally without any information of the boundary. When the boundary is evolving dynamically, the formation of active agents is designed to achieve two objectives. One is to track boundary layer based on the measured information and a small deviation. The other is to maintain a uniform distance between adjacent agents. The algorithm structure based on a state diagram is proposed to achieve these two objectives. Finally, it will be shown in the simulations that all given agents converge to a desired boundary layer and maintain a formation along the boundary. (e.g., a circle, an ellipse, a triangle and a rectangle)

Antiferromagnetically Exchange-coupled Two Phase Magnets: Co/Co2TiSn

  • The objective of this paper is to review the magnetic and magneto-transport properties of Co/$Co_2TiSn$ consisting of two metallic magnetic phases that are antiferromagnetically exchange-coupled at the phase boundary. The bulk Co/$Co_2TiSn$ system, which has a $Co_2$TiSn Heusler alloy precipitates in the hexagonal Co matrix, showed an unusual coercivity change with a concurrent change in temperature, and was modeled on the basis of a wall formation caused by exchange coupling at the phase boundary. For measurements of magneto-transport properties, Co/$Co_2TiSn$ thin films that had two-magnet phases were deposited using a magnetron sputtering system with a composite target. The magnetization process in the films is also explained on the basis of the model of wall formation at the phase boundary. Annealed Co/$Co_2TiSn$ films showed a 0.12% GMR effect, indicating the scattering of polarized conduction electrons due to the antiparallel exchange coupling at the phase boundary. The scattering process of conduction electrons at the phase boundary was modeled with relation to the magnetization process.

  • The soot formation and oxidation characteristics with different radiation boundary conditions have been studied experimentally in a co-flow ethylene/air laminar diffusion flame. The boundary conditions are two cases, one is a fully refractive radiation boundary condition by a polished aluminum cylinder(AL) and the other is a fully absorbing radiation boundary condition by a black body cylinder(BB). The AL case compared with BB condition show the lower inception point, denser soot volume fraction, wider and longer annular soot area owing to the reabsorption of radiating energy.

충주지역 북서부 옥천변성대의 층서 및 지질구조 (Stratigraphy and Geological Structure of the Northwestern Okcheon Metamorphic Belt Near the Chungju Area)

  • 충주지역 북서부 옥천변성대는 문주리층, 대향산규암, 향산리돌로마이트, 계명산층이 분포하고 있으며 현재까지 층서적 관계가 논란이 되고 있는 지역이다. 충주지역에 분포하는 북서부 옥천변성대에 대한 층서적 연구를 위해 충주호일대에 두 지점의 노두를 선정하여 단면에 대한 정밀기재 및 인근지역에 대한 야외조사를 실시하였다 문주리층과 대향산규암의 경계는 정이적인 변화가 인지되나 경계부는 층리면과 평행한 단층이 발달한다 대향산규암과 향산리돌로마이트는 정합적인 것으로 판단된다. 향산리돌로마이트와 계명산층은 단층을 경계로 접하고 있다. 연구지역의 북부에는 $41^{\circ}/280^{\circ}$의 습곡축을 가지는 습곡이 분포하는 것이 확인되었으며, 두 층의 경계에 발달하는 단층은 충상단층일 가능성도 있으나 습곡이 형성되는 동안 나타나는 단층일 가능성도 있다. 본 연구에서 확인된 점이적인 암상변화와 기존 연구 결과를 볼 때 경계부의 단층은 습곡이 형성되는 동안 층리면과 평행하게 발달하는 단층으로 판단된다 향산리돌로마이트와 계명산층의 경계부에 발달하는 단층은 층리면과 평행하게 발달하며, 돌로마이트가 반복적으로 나타나고 있는 점을 볼 때 충상단층으로 판단된다. 두 층이 충상단층 관계일 경우 상부의 계명산층이 문주리층 아래에 놓이게 된다. 하지만 계명산층과 문주리층은 비슷한 암상분포를 보이며, 신원생대의 절대연령을 나타내는 점을 볼 때 두 층이 동일한 층일 가능성이 있을 것으로 생각되며 충상단층에 의해 반복적으로 분포하는 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 결과를 종합해 볼 때 충주지역 북서부 옥천변성대의 층서는 하부로부터 계명산층/문주리층, 대향산규암, 향산리돌로마이트의 정합적 관계로 판단된다.

11 wt% 크롬이 함유된 Ti 첨가 페라이트스테인리스강의 입계부식에 미치는 규소의 영향 (Effect of Silicon on Intergranular Corrosion Resistance of Ti-stabilized 11 wt% Cr Ferritic Stainless Steels)

  • Ti-stabilized 11 wt% Cr ferritic stainless steels (FSSs) for automotive exhaust systems have been experienced intergranular corrosion (IC) in some heat-affected zone (HAZ). The effects of sensitizing heat-treatment and silicon on IC were studied. Time-Temperature-Sensitization (TTS) curves showed that sensitization to IC was observed at the steels heat-treated at the temperature lower than $650^{\circ}C$ and that silicon improved IC resistance. The sensitization was explained by chromium depletion theory, where chromium is depleted by precipitation of chromium carbide during sensitizing heat-treatment. It was confirmed with the results from the analysis of precipitates as well as the thermodynamical prediction of stable phases. In addition, the role of silicon on IC was explained with the stabilization of grain boundary. In other words, silicon promoted the formation of the grain boundaries with low energy where precipitation was suppressed and consequently, the formation of Cr-depleted zone was retarded. The effect of silicon on the formation of grain boundaries with low energy was proved by the analysis of coincidence site lattice (CSL) grain boundary, which is a typical grain boundary with low energy.

볼 충격을 받는 유리의 콘크랙형성에 대한 경계조건의 영향 (The Effects of Boundary Condition in Cone Crack Formation of Soda-lime Glass by Ball Impact)

  • In order to investigate the possibility of processing of brittle material by ball impact, the effects of boundary conditions about impact damage of soda-lime glass by small spheres were evaluated experimentally. It was investigated that crack appearance developed in soda-lime glass with boundary conditions of without sealing, single-sealing and double-sealing by impact velocity. The double-sealing was most effective in the development of perfect cone than other boundary condition. In case of double-sealing condition, PVC and Polyurethane sealing were more effective in producing a perfect cone formation than other sealing materials. The impact velocity range over which perfect cones were formed was influenced by both the contact area and diameter of impact particle.

Effects of an artificial hole on the crystal growth of large grain REBCO superconductor

  • This study presents that various grain boundary junctions are prepared by controlling the seed orientation combined with an artificial hole in a melt process REBCO bulk superconductor. Large grain YBCO superconductors have been fabricated with various grain boundary junctions that the angle between the grain boundary and the <001> axis of Y123 crystal is $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$, respectively. The presence of the artificial hole is beneficial for the formation of clean grain boundary junction and single peak trapped magnetic field profiles have been obtained. Artificial hole makes two growth fronts meet at a point on a periphery of the artificial hole. The presence of artificial hole is not likely to affect on the distribution of Y211 particles. The newly formed <110> facet lines are explained by the formation of new Y123/liquid interface with (010) crystallographic plane.

울산군 강동면 제 3기 정자분지(亭子盆地)의 지질구조와 분지발달 (Geological Structures and Evolution of the Tertiary Chŏngja Basin, Southeastern Margin of the Korean Peninsula)

  • The Tertiary $Ch{\check{o}}ngja$ basin is located in the southeastern coastal area of the Korean Peninsula. It is a lozenge shaped fault-bounded basin with circa $5{\times}5km$ areal extent, isolated from other Tertiary basins by the Cretaceous Ulsan Formation in-between. The northwestern boundary of the basin is a domino/listric type normal fault trending $N30^{\circ}E$, whereas its southwestern boundary is a dextral strike-slip fault (trending $N20^{\circ}W$) with a lateral offset of more than 1 km. The basin is bounded by the East Sea on the eastern margin. Basin-fills consist of extrusive volcanic rock (Tangsa Andesites) of Early Miocene (16~22 Ma in radiometric age), unconsolidated fluviatile conglomerate (Kangdong Formation) and shallow brackish-water sandstone ($Sinhy{\check{o}}n$ Formation). The latter yields abundant Vicarya-Anadara molluscan fossils of early Middle Miocene age. The Tertiary strata become younger toward the northwestern boundary-fault of the basin, showing a zonal distribution pattern parallel to the fault: the younger sedimentary formations occupy a narrow zone of 2 km width along the northwestern boundary-fault, whereas the older Tangsa Andesites underlie them unconformably in the eastern and southeastern portions of the basin. The strata in the basin, including the Tangsa Andesites, are tilted (about $20^{\circ}$) toward the northwestern boundary-fault Sedimentary strata thicken toward the boundary-fault, forming a wedge shaped half-graben structure. A number of small-scale syndepositional normal growth faults and graben structures are observed in the sedimentary strata. These extensional structures have the same trend as the normal northwestern boundary-fault which we interpret as a pull-apart detachment fault. These characteristics imply persistent extension during the basin evolution, caused by a NW-SE directed tensional force. The $Ch{\check{o}}ngja$ basin is, thus, a kind of syndepositional tectonic basin evolved in a strike-slip (pull-apart) regime. The latter was caused by a dextral simple shear associated with the NNW-SSE opening of the East Sea. In view of the fact that the normal growth faults do not cut through the uppermost portion of the youngest $Sinhy{\check{o}}n$ Formation, it is inferred that the tensional force came to be inactive in the early Middle Miocene. This is coincident in timing with the termination of the East Sea opening (15 Ma).
