  • Gosan-ri site is known as the early Neolithic cultural heritage, in which an archaic plainware, called as the Gosan-ri-type pottery, was excavated regarding as the first pottery manufactured in Korea. In this study, OSL dating was carried out to five soil layer samples collected in stratigraphic cross-section for evaluating the formation and occupation of the Gosan-ri site. Paleodose of each soil sample was calculated using the single aliquot regenerative dose (SAR) method with preheat of $220^{\circ}C$ and finally determined using maximum age model, considering its deposition process. The OSL age was determined from the ratio of paleodose to annual dose rate. From the resultant OSL ages and the related 14C dates, it was concluded that the Gosan-ri site was formed after 9,000 BC and a variety of cultural feature including the Gosan-ri-type pottery were occupied ranging from the early Neolithic to the middle of 4,000 BC. Finally, the Gosan-ri site was discarded in the middle of 4,000 BC and has been arrived at present through natural deposits.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the physicochemical characteristics and formation age of sand dunes in the Okjukdong and Dajindong, Daecheong Island. As a result, most of the sand deposited in Okjukdong were composed of medium sized sand with moderately well sorted. The $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ accounted for a very high proportion of these deposits. There were some differences in characteristics between the sands in the dune and beach, whereas similar characteristics were observed among the materials (OJ-B, OJ-C and OJ-D) in the dune. In case of Dajindong, heterogeneous geochemical characteristics were found in the lower point. It was estimated that this was due to the influence of Daejin-dong black beach. Age dating results showed that uncovered dunes in Okjukdong were deposited $0.44{\pm}0.02$ ~ $0.50{\pm}0.02ka$, and sand depositsin Dajindong were formed $0.16{\pm}0.01$ ~ $0.18{\pm}0.01ka$. In both Okjukdong and Dajindong, sand deposits estimated to be formed 70 years ago, therefore it can be estimated that sand movement was active throughout the area from about hundred years ago. In this study area, the growth of sand dunes has been active in recent several decades or hundred years. It seems that there were different regions where deposits predominated over time. The source of dune sand was also different from time to time. Since the windbreak forest was established, the natural growth of sand dunes was limited, and sand nourishment was carried out by period. Therefore, in order to protect and continuously utilize coastalsand dunesin Daecheong Island, it is necessary to prepare conservation plan.

  • Detrital zircon U-Pb dating was performed to determine the depositional age and provenance of sediments in the Cretaceous Muju Basin in Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do. Six samples were collected from the Seolcheon Tuff (SCT), Bangyiri Formation (BYR), Gobang Member of the Gilwangri Formation (GWR-G), Seochang Member of the Gilwangri Formation (GWR-S), Bukchang Member of the Gilwangri Formation (GWR-B), and Jeogsangsan Formation (JSS). Based on the dating results, the sedimentary strata of the Muju Basin were deposited for approximately 105.6-90.4 Ma corresponding to the Albian to Turonian. The youngest single zircon ages of about 94.4 Ma and 89.6 Ma were confirmed in the samples from the Bangyiri Formation and the Gobang Member of the Gilwangri Formation, respectively, distributed in the western part of the Muju Basin. The relative and numerical ages previously estimated based on the lithostratigraphic correlation of the Gilwangri conglomerate need to be revisited in further research. The results also suggest that most of the sediments filling the Muju Basin were supplied from a limited area adjacent to the basin.

  • Based on 440 skulls recently collected from two areas of the wild ass population in Mongolia, the time course of tooth eruption and replacement was investigated. The dentition pattern allows identification of age up to five years. We also conclude that annual lines in the tooth cementum can be used to determine the age in years for wild asses older than five years after longitudinal tooth sections were made with a low-speed precision saw. The first upper incisor proved to be most suitable for age determination, although the starting time of cement deposition is different between the labial and lingual sides of the tooth. The accurate age of the wild ass can be determined from the number of annual lines and the time before the first formation of the cementum at the respective side of the tooth.

  • The use of biochemical markers of bone turnover may be particular interest in the investigation of bone disorders with osteoporosis. Serum osteocalcin(OC), total alkaline phosphatase and procollagen C, reflecting bone formation, and urinary pyridinium cross-links excretion, reflecting bone reabsorption have been measured in hyperthyroidism, postmenopause women, after testosterone supplementation, androgen, testosterone and estrogen deficiency, bone mineral density degree, age duration. Bone marks which is reflect to metabolic bone disorders are biochemical indices method to measure enzyme activity about bone formation, bone absorption and bone components in blood or urine. Bone metabolism biochemical marks are correlated with osteophorotic agents and also represent significantly different between bone mineral density and bone biochemical marks. Therefore if we develope and use bone metabolism marks which have higher sensitivity and specificity in bone formation and bone absorption, I think that these bone biochemical marks can have utility in the clinical application to predict osteoporosis risk group, bone loss, bone fracture and response degree to treatment of osteoporosis risk groups.

  • The present age demands a change in attitude based on a differentiated life value from city. It will provide to a fundamental solution for the gap of living level in the farming and fishing communities and recreate distinguishing comfortable communities. The purpose of this study was to deduct the formation characteristics of the townscape of Korean slow city according to analyze resources and structure of landscape. Planning of slow city's townscape is a process of imagification of filtrate unique meaning. The glob share synchronic unique values by slow city's network. Therefore instead of putting emphasis on promoting tourist business for short-term revenue, it will be under control to raise the standard of living and to be not forfeited and diluted the rights for sustainable slow city's status. Participation of resident needs in this process. Accordingly it need a strategy of landscape formation design and a interdepartmental practice system for a continuous slow city's image by renewal of disharmonious townscape in the built-up area.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation among the stroke patient family's health, burden and quality of life which is based upon the comparative appreciation of the adult stroke patient's family and elderly stroke patient's family. For this purpose, data were collected from the family care-givers for two groups of stroke patients under sixty years old and over sixty years of age, admitted at K Hospital and H Hospital in Seoul. The instruments for this research are based on the tool for measuring physical health and psychological health developed by Yang, Young-hee(1992), the tool for measuring the sense of burden by Seo, Mee-hae and Oh, Ga-sil(1993), and the tool for the quality of life by Noh, Yoo-ja(1988). The sampling for this study was done from December, 2000 until February, 2001. Questionnaire data were drawn up by personal interviews aided by the staff nurses. The analysis of collected data are based on general characteristics calculated at the rate of 100 percent of the average, t-test, ANOVA(some difference on a level with p<.05 being subsquently confirmed by DMR) for Health Status, Burden, Quality of Life and Pearson Correlation to verify the hypothetical correlation among the subjects. The results of this study are as follows: 1. In the adult stroke patient family, the factors influencing the physical health proved to be age, present occupation and family-formation. Here, the factors influencing psychological health turned out to be age, matrimonial status, present occupation and family-formation. In the elderly stroke patient family, the factors influencing physical health proved to be age, gender, final academic status, matrimonial status, present occupation, and relation with the patient. Here, the factors influencing the psychological health were age, final academic status, matrimonial status, present occupation, relation with the patient and family-formation. In the former case, the influencing factors upon the burden were shown to be age, final academic status, matrimonial status, relation with the patient and family-formation. In the latter case, the influences upon the burden were age, gender, final academic status, matrimonial status, present occupation and relation with the patient. In the former case, the influences on the quality of life were gender, and economic situation. In the later case, the influencing factors on the quality of life were age, final academic status, matrimonial status, present occupation, and relation with the patient. 2. The rate of the physical condition in the former case turned out to be 2.83, and the psychological condition 2.37. The physical condition of the latter case was 2.76, and the psychological condition 2.46. The rate of the burden in the former case was 3.14, and that of the latter case was 3.04. The rate of quality of life in the former case proved to be 2.46, and that of the latter case 2.55. 3. The rate of correlation between the burden and the quality of life appeared to be the high counter-correlation (r= -.573). The rate of correlation between the psychological health and the burden of a simialr (r= -.565). The rate of correlation between the physical health and the psychological health proved to be a moderate correlation (r= .372), The rate of correlation between physical health and the burden turned out to be a low counter-correlation (r= -.276). According to this study, there proved to be a very close correlation among the stroke patient family's health, the burden and quality of life. Thus, it would be necessary to find out various nursing interventions in order to mitigate the stroke patient family's burden in the process of caring for the patients.
