In this paper, a tele-manipulation in explosive ordnance disposal(EOD) applications is discussed. The ROBHAZ-DT2 is developed as a teleoperated mobile manipulator for EOD. In general, it has been thought that the robot must have appropriate functions and accuracy enough to handle the complicated and dangerous mission. However, the research on the ROBHAZ-DT2 revealed that the teleoperation causes more restrictions and difficulties in EOD mission. Thus to solve the problem, a novel user interface for the ROBHAZ-DT2 is developed, in which the operator can interact with various human senses (i.e. visual, auditory and haptic sense). It enables an operator to control the ROBHAZ-DT2 simply and intuitively. A tele-manipulation control scheme for the ROBHAZ-DT2 is also proposed including compliance control via force feedback. It makes the robot adapt itself to circumstances, while the robot faithfully follows a command of the operator. This paper deals with a detailed description on the user interface and the tele-manipulation control for the ROBHAZ-DT2. An EOD demonstration is conducted to verify the validity of the proposed interface and the control scheme.

Reliability and safety of steer-by-wire concepts can be achieved by redundant designs. This paper discusses the design of a fault tolerant concept for a force feedback actuator with a standard three-phase PMSM. In contrast to usual drives, the phases of the machine are separated electrically. This design allows driving the machine with two instead of three phases in case of a fault. A superimposed torque controller adjusts the influence of fault currents and torque harmonics in two-phase operation and guarantees smooth torque at the steering wheel
There is a strong demand fur the contactless transportation device fur a hard disk and silicon wafer without contaminating and damaging them. To fulfill this requirements, A transportation device fur them has been proposed. But the device needs many of costly displacement sensors positioned along the transportation interval and possesses a very complicated controller and driving scheme. To overcome those kinds of drawback, in this paper, we present a very simple and cost-effective transportation device which only consists of a linear guide, very simple electrostatic suspension system and driving circuit of stepping motor. The principle of stable suspension by relay feedback control, derivation of lateral restoring force, the design of transportation system are described, fellowed by the experimental system. Experimental results show that a 3.5-inch hard disk has been transported with a speed of approximately 20mm/s while being suspended stably at a gap of 0.25mm.
Constant slip frequency operation of linear infliction motor is essential for the stable levitation. Control scheme for the constant slip frequency with general purpose frequency inverter is proposed, Speed sensing scheme with proximitity switch for the speed feedback is also proposed. Optimal slip frequency, at which normal force is equal to 0, is selected by the experiment. This slip frequency is a comand to the controller. It shows good characteristic during acceleration and deceleration.
In order to reduce energy consumption, secondary controlled system has been applied to many types of equipments. In lifting equipments or press machines using hydraulic cylinder, a hydraulic transformer is used as a control component instead of a valve for motion control and a component for recovering potential energy of load. The transformer is combination of a variable displacement pump/motor as a secondary controlled element and a fixed displacement pump/motor. Based on the nominal model derived from mathematical model, the feedback type two-degree-of-freedom controller is designed and implemented. From simulation results, the disturbances including nonlinear friction torque, leakage flow and load force can be compensated and good positioning accuracy is obtained. It show that the proposed controller is effective.

The motion analysis of a translation device driven by a piezoelectric actuator is performed to identify the mechanics of impact drive mechanism and to find the maximum speed waveform. The translation device is modeled as a semidefinite two-degree-of-freedom system. The motion analysis includes effects of friction force between moving mass and contact surface, dynamics of voltage amplifier and piezoelectric elements, and hysteresis of piezoelectric actuator. Base on the model, simulation studies are carried out and then compared with experimental results. It is found that the error between moving distances obtained by analysis and experiment is less than 15% and that the actual motion of moving mass is well predicted by the analytical work, finally, precision positioning experiments are carried out by using a proximity sensor as a feedback sensor. Position control of moving mass is initiated by the maximum speed waveform and finely tuned by the scaled down waveform so that accurate positioning is accomplished within the resolution of the sensor.
Research using multiple shake tables present new and unique challenges in controls. Typical single shake table tests with large specimens must cope with significant specimen force feedback that can increase tracking error due to specimen gain, damping, and non-linearity. Multiple shaking tables with distributed specimens can produce cross-coupling forces due to inertial and response effects and forces due to static differential displacements. Although many various control architectures exist, basic simplified techniques can yield excellent results without risk to control stability. Off-line simulation techniques can also prove invaluable for studying system response before the real system is operated.
In this paper, the model-matching control in the longitudinal autonomous driving system is investigated by vehicle dynamics simulation, which contains nonlinear subcomponents and simplified subcomponents. The design of the robust model-matching controller is performed by the characteristics of the 2 degrees of freedom controller, which is composed of the feedforward compensator and the feedback compensator. It makes the characteristics of tractive and brake force to be equivalent to the specific transfer function, which is suggested as the reference model. Mathematical models of vehicle dynamic analysis including the model-matching control are constructed for computer simulation. Then, simple examples on open-loop simulation without any controller and closed loop simulation with the model-matching controller are applied to check the validity of the robust controller. As the practical example, the autonomous driving system in the longitudinal direction is adopted. It is proved that the model-matching control is effective and adequate to the disturbances and the perturbations, which are shown in the responses of the change of a vehicle mass and a road gradient.
In general, articulated robot control technology is limited to the design of robot arm control systems considering each joint of the robot joint as a simple servomechanism. This method describes the varying dynamics of a manipulator inadequately because it neglects the motion and configuration of the whole arm mechanism. The changes of the parameters in the controlled system are significant enough to render conventional feedback control strategies ineffective. This basic control system enables a manipulator to perform simple positioning tasks such as in the pock and place operation. However, joint controllers are severely limited in precise tracking of fast trajectories and sustaining desirable dynamic performance for variations of payload and parameter uncertainties. In many servo control applications the linear control scheme proposes unsatisfactory, therefore, a need for nonlinear techniques that increasing. for Forging process automation.
