Proper test methods and instruments for evaluating score or creasing crack have not been provided, although score crack trouble occurs frequently in manufacturing corrugated containers. Because existing creasability tester has the limitation of the available thickness of test piece and folding rate, it cannot be used for corrugated fiberboards with high thickness. In this study, we developed the laboratory test instrument and the method to determine the score or creasing crack of corrugated fiberboard. This instrument can evaluate folding resistance of corrugated board without restriction on the folding rate and thickness of specimen. Corrugated fiberboard had the different folding behavior from linerboard when it was creased. By using this test machine, score crack can be objectively determined by folding test piece to the certain folding angle with constant folding rate.
Present paper aims at the correlation of modal characteristics of folding fin between test and analysis using an optimization theory. Folding fin is composed of a movable fin, a base fin, and many functional components related to the folding mechanism. Joint parts of folding fin in FEM are initially modeled as rigid elements resulting some difference between test and analysis in modal characteristics. Therefore, some equivalent springs representing joint parts are introduced to improve the FEM model. The springs were set as design variables, while the frequency difference between test and analysis was set as the object function. Bayesian procedure was ujsed for the minimization.

Experimental study on the unsteady aerodynamics analysis and power consumption of a folding wing is accomplished using a wind tunnel testing. A folding wing model is fabricated and actuated using servo motors. The flapping wing consists of an inboard main wing and an outboard folding wing. The aerodynamic forces and consumed powers of the flapping wing are measured by changing the flapping and folding wings inside a low-speed wind tunnel. In order to calculate the aerodynamic forces, the measured forces are modified using static test data. It was found that the effect of the folding wing on the flapping wing's total lift is small but the effect of the folding wing on the total thrust is larger than the main wing. The folding motion requires the extra use of the servo motor. Thus, the amount of the energy consumption increases when both the wings are actuated together. As the flight speed increases, the power consumption of the folding wing decreases which results in energy saving.
A three-step heuristic algorithm for PLA column folding and row folding of column-folded PLA is presented, which is significantly faster than the earlier works and provides nearly optimal results. The three steps are i) min-cut partition of vertices in the column (or row) intersection graph, ii) determination of products' order using Fiduccia's min-net cut algorithm, and iii) head-tail pairing for column folding, while some heuristics are proposed for deciding row folding pairs. The time complexity of this algorithm is O($n^{2}$log n) compared to the O($n^{3}$) - O($n^{4}$) of the earlier works.$^[2][3][9]$ For a test PLA with 23 inputs, 19 outputs and 52 products, the number of column folding pairs obtained using this algorithm is 20 which is optimal, as compared to 17 in a previous work.
When papers each made with sea-algae pulp 1%, 5% and soft, hard wood pulp were aged for 12days. Paper made with soft wood pulp is 30% loss of folding endurance, made with hard wood pulp is 50% loss of folding endurance. On the other, papers each made with 9% sea-algae pulp and soft, hard wood pulp were 18% loss of folding endurance. In the aging test of paper made with different freeness paper made with 300ml CSF, is more effective than 400ml CSF, 500ml CSF.
We present and discuss the Tropopause Folding Turbulence Detection (TFTD) algorithm for the Korean Communication, Ocean, Meteorological Satellite (COMS) which is originally developed for the Tropopause Folding Turbulence Product (TFTP) from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES)-R. The TFTD algorithm assumes that the tropopause folding is linked to the Clear Air Turbulence (CAT), and thereby the tropopause folding areas are detected from the rapid spatial gradients of the upper tropospheric specific humidity. The Layer Averaged Specific Humidity (LASH) is used to represent the upper tropospheric specific humidity calculated using COMS $6.7{\mu}m$ water vapor channel and ERA-interim reanalysis temperature at 300, 400, and 500 hPa. The comparison of LASH with the numerical model specific humidity shows a strong negative correlation of 80% or more. We apply the single threshold, which is determined from sensitivity analysis, for cloud-clearing to overcome strong gradient of LASH at the edge of clouds. The tropopause break lines are detected from the location of strong LASH-gradient using the Canny edge detection based on the image processing technique. The tropopause folding area is defined by expanding the break lines by 2-degree positive gradient direction. The validations of COMS TFTD is performed with Pilot Reports (PIREPs) filtered out Convective Induced Turbulence (CIT) from Dec 2013 to Nov 2014 over the South Korea. The score test shows 0.49 PODy (Probability of Detection 'Yes') and 0.64 PODn (Probability of Detection 'No'). Low POD results from various kinds of CAT reported from PIREPs and the characteristics of high sensitivity in edge detection algorithm.
In this intervention study, an experimental group of kindergarten children participated in paper folding activities 2 times per week for 10 weeks while the control group did ordinary art activities. Subjects were 43 five-year-old children enrolled in N and D public kindergartens in Hwa-soon Chonnam province. Data were analyzed with a two-sample t-test. The ability to draw and to manipulate geometric figures increased significantly in the experimental group but there was no difference between the two groups in the discrimination of geometric figures.
Finite element analysis and verification experiments were performed in order to find cause of defects such as folding and improper radius around the root area of the thread rolled stud bolts. Thread rolling experiments under several conditions were also carried out to understand the effect of process parameters, such as the rotation speed of the dies and the hardness of the work pieces, on the product quality. Folding defects at the top of thread are attributed to the higher hardness of the work piece and higher rotation speed of the rolling die. It was also found that the radius of screw mainly determined by the radius of the die.

Space explorations by spacecraft have detected the solar wind and the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF), whose existences had been suggested to explain the narrow comet plasma tail formation before the space age. Thereafter, a global magnetic structure seperating the opposite polarity regions of IMF in the heliosphere was discovered (Wilcox and Ness, 1965). It is called helispheric current sheet (HCS). Comets have been proved as the useful heliospheric probes. Recently, another capability of comet as a probe of HCS was suggested by Yi (1994). In the process of comet plasma tail disconnection events (EDs) showing the ray folding and main tail severance between the folding rays (Brandt, 1982), the folding rays preceding DE might be the visualization of HCS draped around comet, In order to test this new idea, the association of comet Halley 16 DEs with comet crossings of HCS confirmed by spacecraft observations at the time of comet Halley apparition 1985~1986 was investigated.
