Recently, as large constructions on the coast increase, an application of a surface layer stabilization method which is one of the improvement methods for dredged soft clay has increased. However, there are few studies about this. The purpose of this study is clarifying characteristics of ultra-soft marine clay and hardening agent. Also, it is verifying an optimal mixture ratio of hardening agent through the laboratory tests according to designed experiments and proving by statistical analysis and pilot tests. Laboratory tests were performed with proper hardening agent and test soil in accordance with the design of experiments. Regression equations between hardening agents materials and unconfined compressive strength were derived from the tests. The applicability of regression equations were also verified by pilot tests. From the test results, it was found that hardening agent materials(cement, slag, fly-ash, inorganic salts, arwin, gypsum etc.) have some effect upon compressive strength. The optimal mixture ratio which satisfies the required compressive strength was derived from the statistical analysis. The effect of ground improvement by cements and hardening agents was confirmed through the pilot tests. This study will suggest data for design or construction criteria of stabilization of surface layer on ultra-soft marine clay.
In order to use the mine tailing which was generated in the flotation process of scheelite ore into the raw material of ordinary portland cement, the characteristics of the prepared cement clinker was investigated. Scheelite mine tailing is composed of 68.8% of $SiO_2$, 8.6% of $Al_2$$O_3$, 10.8% of $Fe_2$$O_3$, 5.0% of CaO, respectively. It exists as $\alpha$-quartz, muscovite, clinochlore and has 8.0% of 88 $\mu\textrm{m}$ residue. When LSF, SM, and IM of the raw materials (such as limestone, convertor slag, fly ash, and mine tailing) are 91.0, 2.60, and 1.60, respectively, the burnability index of the raw materials is 50.7, the crystal size of $C_3$S and $\beta$-C$_2$S in the prepared clinker is 15∼35$\mu\textrm{m}$, and about 3.8% of scheelite mine tailing can be used as raw material.

In this study, the degree of deterioration of concrete was investigated in the laboratory under conditions of carbonation and freeze-thaw cycling, which are the major causes of the deterioration of its performance. In this test, the carbonated concrete was subjected to combined freeze-thaw deterioration tests for up to 300 cycles, and its dynamic elastic modulus and compressive strength were measured. The evaluation of the effect of the water-binder ratio on normal concrete subjected to combined carbonization and freezing-thawing showed that its resistibility against such combined deterioration decreased more rapidly in the concrete with a water-binder ratio of 55 % compared with that having a water-binder ratio of 35 %. In the case where the concrete was blended with a mineral admixture consisting of fly ash and blast furnace slag at the same water-binder ratio, it showed an increase of its resistibility against combined deterioration.

This paper is to investigate an effect of waste cooking oil(WCO) on the engineering properties and durability of high volume admixture concrete. Fly ash with 30% and blast furnace slag with 60% were incorporated in OPC to fabricate high volume admixture concrete with 0.5 of W/B. Emulsified refining cooking oil(ERCO) was made by mixing WCO and emulsifying agent to improve fluidity. ERCO was replaced by cement from 0.25 to 1.0%. As results, the increase of ERCO resulted in decrease of slump and air contents. For compressive strength, the use of ERCO led to decrease the compressive strength at 28 days, while it had similar strength or much higher strength than plain concrete at 180 days. Resistance to carbonation and chloride penetration was improved with the increase of ERCO contents due to decreased pore distribution by saponification between ERCO and concrete, while freeze-thaw resistance was degraded due to air loss.

In this study, binary blended concrete mix with fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag was prepared according to 3 level of water reduction performance of chemical admixture (0%, 8% and 16%) and 3 level of water-cement ratio (40%, 45% and 50%) for evaluation of quality properties of binary blended concrete according to performance of chemical admixture. concrete mix was carried out repetition test of three times in order to secure the reliability. As a result, compressive strength according to performance of chemical admixture was found that difference of strength was about 20% occurred, chemical admixture was showed that a great influence on qualities of concrete. In addition, reflected the effect of performance of chemiacal admixture, prediction model equations for concrete compressive strength was proposed, it was found that more than 85% of the high correlation.

The RC buildings which are constructed on the seaside are followed by KBC(2016) to achieve the minimization of durability damage. To control the corrosion of the reinforcing steel bar by salt attack, W/C should be under 0.4 and specified concrete strength is higher than 35MPa in the concrete/building construction standard specification. Even though it has been proved that the concrete mixed with mineral admixture such as blast furnace slag and fly ash etc. have high strength and durability in previous researches, the beneficial informations are not applied to the codes. Ready-mixed concretes which usually include the admixtures in Busan were tested to certify the salt attack durability. In the same specified concrete strength, remarkable salt attack durability was evaluated in comparison to OPC. For economical and reliable durability design, chloride ion diffusivity should be measured before applying to new building construction.
Immersion tests with artificial seawater were carried out to investigate the resistance to seawater attack of 5 types of cement matrices. From the results of compressive strength and length change, it was found that blended cement mortars due to mineral admixtures, were superior to portland cement mortars with respect to the resistance to seawater attack. Moreover, XRD analysis indicated that the peak intensity ratio of low heat portland cement(LHC) paste, in portland cement pastes, had better results, and so did that of blended cement Paste. Pore volume of pastes by mercury intrusion porosimetry method demonstrated that total pore volume of ordinary portland cement(OPC) paste had a remarkable increase comparing with that of other pastes. In case of immersion of artificial seawater, the use of ground granulated blast-furnace slag and fly ash, however, showed the beneficial effects of 56% and 32% in reduction of total pore volume, respectively.
According to the recent community-based structures enlargement, specification, and diversification. It needs appropriate construction materials in terms of intensity and environmental aspects. Thus, in manufacturing the cement using micro limestone powder which is main material. It is also expected to save energies and reduces $CO_2$, by using the blast furnace slag and fly ash which are mitigated environmental load construction materials that emerged. In this research, The durability aspect tries to be grasped considering the chemical property according to the coherence of the hydration product. Consequently, The compressive strength was measured over 30 Mpa on 3rd. In addition, according to the content of the limestone powder, the setting time is promoted. It has the feature expanded in the length change. And it is determined because the possibility of replacing the existing for construction material such as it is measured compared with the time to use the portland cement usually that flexural strength is high with the age 7 days ago, so it is sufficient.

Recently, as many big marine concrete structures increase, it is necessary that chloride ion diffusion coefficient of concrete shall be evaluated but it will take a long time to evaluate chloride ion diffusion coefficient of concrete. Accordingly, many test methods are suggested to evaluate chloride ion diffusion coefficient in a short period time by the promotion in electro chemical ways but the systematic study for this is insufficient. Therefore, this study evaluates chloride ion penetration and diffusion features by three representative electric promotion tests targeting for three different cements whose ingredients are different and analyzes the correlationship between them. As a result, diffusion features of chloride ion varied according to the cement ingredients and three ingredients cement in which blast furnace slag powder and fly ash are mixed in constant ratio, which shows the most excellent cement diffusion properties. For diffusion properties of chloride ion, the correlationship between test methods are good.
