Regional geology of Chungil mine is composed of Cretaceous biotite granite. Chungil ore deposits are fissure filled quartz veins which developed in Cretaceous biotite granites. Mineralogic and fluid inclusion studies were undertaken to illuminate the origin of the ore deposits. Data gathered from occurrences of ore deposits and mineral paragenesis reveals that there were two major mineralization stage. The first stage is sulfides-quartz stage. The constituents of ore minerals are chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite with minor amount of galena, native Au, Ag, pyrite. The second stage is gangue mineral stage. Gangue minerals are quartz, fluorite and calcite. Homogenization temperature of fluid inclusions in quartz of the first and the second stage ranges from $212^{\circ}C$ to $336^{\circ}C$ and from $154^{\circ}C$ to $355^{\circ}C$ respectively. Homogenization temperature in fluorite and calcite of the second stage ranges from $127^{\circ}C$ to $252^{\circ}C$ and from $129^{\circ}C$ to $158^{\circ}C$ but these data require positive pressure corrections. Fluid inclusions in quartz of the Bongmyeong mine, Jangja the first mine and the second mine show range of homogenization temperature from $178^{\circ}C$ to $330^{\circ}C$, from $185^{\circ}C$ to $354^{\circ}C$ and from $206^{\circ}C$ to 336 respectively. The comparison of the fluid inclusion data, mineralogical component and vein attitude of the three mines with that of Chungil mine indicates that the origin of the deposits above mentioned is elucidated to be formed under similar environment. The compositions of the sphalerite in the first stage range from 16.05 mol.% FeS to 20.36 mol.% FeS.
Mineralization of Daehwa and Donsan W-Mo deposits can be devided into three distinct depositional stages on the basis of mineral paragenesis and flnid inclusion studies; stage I, deposition of oxides and silicates ; stage II, deposition of base-metal sulfides and sulfosalts with carbonates; stage III, deposition of barren calcite and fluorite. Tungsten, molybdenum and tin mineralization occurred in stage I. Fluid inclusion studies reveal that ore fluid of stage I were homogeneous $H_2O-CO_2$ fluids containing 3.5~14.6 mol % $CO_2$. Minimum temperature and pressure of stage I ore fluids were $240^{\circ}C$ and 500 bars respectively. Salinities of aqueous type I inclusions in minerals of stage I range from 3.7 to 7.6 wt. % equi. NaCl. whereas those of $CO_2$-containing type III inclusions range from 0.3 to 4.4 wt. %. Temperatures of stage II ore fluids range from 200 to $305^{\circ}C$ on the whole and salinities were in the range of 3.2~7.2 wt. %. Homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions in calcite and fluorite of stage III range from 114 to $186^{\circ}C$ and salinities were in the range of 0.9~4.3 wt. %. Sulfur fugacities during stage II deduced from mineral assemblages and tamperature data from fluid inclusions declined from earlier to later in the range of $10^{-11}{\sim}10^{-18}atm$. Fluid inclusion evidences suggest that the dominance of $CO_2$ in ore fluid during W-Mo mineralization is the characteristic features of Cretaceous W-Mo deposits of central district of Korea compared to those of Kyeongsang basin district.
Hydration processes of the rapid hardening cement clinkers, which were synthesized from domestic alunite for major alumina source, limestone, kaolin and fluorite, were investigated by means of x-ray diffraction analysis, thermal analysis and microscopic observation etc. The clinkers were composed mainly of alite, calcium fluroaluminate (C11A7.CaF2) minerals. While the hydratio processes of the clinkers are altered by concentration of SO3 in the paste, calcium aluminate hydrates such as C4AH13, CAH10 and calcium monosulfate hydrate (C3A.CaSO4.12H2O) are formed at first and then some of them are transformed into ettringite(C3A.3CaSO4.32H2O) within 30~60 min. when the concentration of SO3 in the paste are enough. However the formed ettringite are changed slowly into calcium monosulfate hydrate as the concentration of SO3 become lowered, and the paste is hardened with these close-packed minerals. When the content of SO3 in clinker is so enough, calcium sulfoaluminate hydrates are found without any addition of anhydrite or hemi-hydrite.
Ogbang scheelite deposit imbedded in amphibolite of unknown age was believed, by the previous workers, to be of pegmatite vein. The vein material is composed mainly of plagioclase (albite and oligoclase) and minor amount (less than 5 to 10% each) of hornblende, biotite and quartz. Orthoclose and tourmaline are accompanied in few places and scheelite and minor amount of fluorite, are the ore minerals. On the basis of mineralogical constituents of the vein, vein structures, mode of occurrence of the vein and gradational contact between veins and amphibolite, the present writer conclude that the deposit was formed by segregation from the parent basic igneous rock of amphibolite. The main portions of the deposit were formed by intrusion of ore solution into already solidified amphibolite after being segregated in deeper horizone, whereas the minor portion by segregation of ore solution in situ.
The purpose of this study is to develope an accurate procedure for measuring the glass content of fly ash produced by bituminous coal to assist in predicting their behavior in concrete. Quantitative mineralogical compositions of fly ashes were obtained by internal standard method using powder X-ray diffraction analysis. In the X-ray diffraction method, the specimen and standard fluorite were cautiously mixed and pulverized to 22$\mu$m in wet process so as to avoid the prefered orientation of the crystal and microabsorption effect of X-ray. calibration curve were fitted for several references peaks of four phases:$\alpha$-quartz. mullite, magnetite, hematite. The amount of glass was calculated by subtracting the amount of crystal phase and loss on ignition from the total amount. Glass content determined with this method ranged from 66.7 to 75.wt%.
The Daehwa and Donsan tungsten-molybdenum deposits are composed of numerous fissure-filling veins developed in Precambrian gneiss and Cretaceous granite and quartz porphyry. K-Ar age of biotite in granite and that of muscovite in ore veins are $105{\pm}5\;Ma$ and 88.2~88.6 Ma respectively. Occurrence of ore deposits shows that relevant igneous rock is possibly quartz porphyry rather than above mentioned granite in temporal view point. Vein structure and mineralogy suggest that ore veins were formed by continuous vein filling, not by repeated mineralization. Three distinct depositional stages with decreasing age can be devided on the basis of mineral paragenesis and fluid inclusion studies: Stage I, deposition of oxides and silicates; stage II, deposition of base-metal sulfides and sulfosalts with carbonates; stage III, deposition of barren calcite and fluorite. Tungsten, molybdenum and tin mineralization occurred in stage I.
This paper describes the mode of occurrence and mineralogical properties of electrum from the Namseong Gold-Silver deposits, for the purpose of obtaining data on the characteristics of the ore deposits and the behavior of gold and silver during the mineralization. The gangue minerals are quartz, calcite, fluorite. Ore minerals are mainly composed of pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena with minor amount of argentite, electrum, pyrargyrite, native silver and unidenfied mineral(Cu-Fe-Ag-S series). Three stage of mineralization recognized are, from early to later, (I) pyrite-electrum stage (II) sphalerite-chalcopyrite-galena-argentite-electrum stage (III) sulfosalts stage. The filling temperature of fluid inclusions in quartz ranges from $225^{\circ}$ to $335^{\circ}C$. The value of sulfur fugacity estimated by means of electrum-tarnish method ranges from $10^{-11.5}$ to $10^{-14}$ atm. The compositional heterogeneity within a single grain with respect to gold concentration is common in the Namseong electrums Chemical composition of electrum ranges generally between 25~45 atom% Au. Its gold content decreases in late stages of mineralization.

$CeO_2$ nanorings were synthesized by using a surfactant free hydrothermal method. The surface morphology, structural and optical properties of the synthesized $CeO_2$ was investigated by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectroscopy measurements. SEM images showed that the surface morphology of the formed $CeO_2$ appeared as nanorings. The XRD pattern of $CeO_2$ nanorings showed the presence of the polycrystalline $CeO_2$ phase readily indexed to the cubic fluorite structure of the $CeO_2$. The mean crystallite size of the $CeO_2$ was calculated using the Scherrer equation from the XRD line broadening of the (111) planes of the cubic $CeO_2$. The UV-Visible spectroscopy spectrum of the $CeO_2$ nanorings exhibited a strong UV absorption band around 350 nm.
In this work, we studied a fluorite structure oxides: Yttria stabilized zirconia, (YSZ); Gd doped $CeO_2$ (GDC); erbia stabilized $Bi_2O_3$ (ESB); Zr doped erbia stabilized $Bi_2O_3$ (ZESB); Ca doped erbia stabilized $Bi_2O_3$ (CESB) in the temperature range of 250 to $600^{\circ}C$ using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). As is well known, grain boundary blocking effect was observed in YSZ and GDC. However, there is no grain boundary effect on ESB, ZESB, and CESB. The Nyquist plots of these materials exhibit a single arc at low temperature. This means that there is no space charge effect on ${\delta}-Bi_2O_3$. In addition, impedance data were analyzed by using the brick layer model. We indirectly demonstrate that grain boundary ionic conductivity is similar to or even higher than bulk ionic conductivity on cubic bismuth oxide.
