Ethernet is the most widely deployed access network protocol around the world. IEEE 802.3az WG released the EEE standard based on LPI mode to improve the energy efficiency of Ethernet. This paper proposes improved adaptive power control mechanism that can enhance energy-efficiency based on EEE from small Ethernet switch. The feature of this mechanism is that it predicts the traffic characteristic of next cycle by measuring the amount of traffic flowing in during certain period and adjusts the optimal threshold value to relevant traffic load. Performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed mechanism improves overall performance compared to traditional mechanism, since it significantly reduces energy consumption rate, even though average packet delay increases a little bit.
Genetically selected beef cattle are fed high-energy diets in intensive production systems developed in industrial countries. This type of feeding can induce rumen dysfunctions that have to be corrected by farmers to optimise cost-effectiveness. The risk of rumen acidosis can be reduced by using slowly degradable starch, which partly escapes rumen fermentation and goes on to be digested in the small intestine. Additives are proposed to stabilise the rumen pH and restrict lactate accumulation, thus favouring the growth of cellulolytic bacteria and stimulating the digestion of the dietary plant cell wall fraction. This enhances the energy value of feeds when animals are fed maize silage for example. Supplementation of lipids to increase energy intake is known to influence the population of rumen protozoa and some associated rumen functions such as cellulolysis and proteolysis. The end products of rumen fermentation are also changed. Lipolysis and hydrogenation by rumen microbes alter the form of fatty acids supplied to animals. This effect is discussed in relation with the quality of lipids in beef and the implications for human health. Conditions for optimising the amount of amino acids from microbial proteins and dietary by-pass proteins flowing to the duodenum of ruminants, and their impact on beef production, are also examined.
With the popularity of utilization of the Internet among people, the amount of data in the network rapidly increased. So that, the fall of response time from WWW server, which is caused by the network traffic and the burden on m server, has become more of an issue. This problem is encouraged the rearch by redundancy of requesting the same pages by many people, even though they browse the same the ones. To reduce these redundancy, WWW cache server is used commonly in order to store m page data and reuse them. However, the technical uses of WWW cache that different from CPU and Disk cache, is known for its difficulty of improving the cache hit rate. Consecuently, it is difficult to choose effective WWW data to be stored from all data flowing through the WWW cache server. On the other hand, there are room for improvement in commonly used cache replacement algorithms by WWW cache server. In our study, we try to realize a WWW cache server that stresses on the improvement of the stresses of response time. To this end, we propose the new cache replacement algorithm by focusing on the utilizable information of network distance from the WWW cache server to WWW server that possessing the page data of the user requesting.
The three Korean wheat cultivars with different plant types; the erect, the middle and the creeping growth habit, were studied for their utilization to solar radiation, temperature changes on the furrow and to provide optimum planting space for producing the high yield in 2003. The average solar radiation rate was lowest for creeping type ($39.2\%$) and highest for erect type ($75.8\%$) The correlation coefficient between the coverage rate and the solar transmission rate was r = 0.8624 which was significant at $5\%$ level. The relative growth of the plant, tiller rate and leaf size was increased in the erect and the middle type at lower plant density, while no change on plant growth at creeping type regardless of plant density. The increase of leaf size in the lower plant density was due to longer flag and the first leaf than those of other plant types. The temperature on the furrow of growing plants was changed by the canopy. The changes in temperature pattern on the furrow according to plant types during winter season was different compared to the non plant ground. The temperature of the nonplant ground was the lowest due to solar reduction increasing the amount of cool air flowing in the furrow.
In this investigation we tried to investigate the effect of oxalic acid on the fate of native sulfate in Bt soil that contained a high kaolinitic clay by observing the distribution of two anions using soil column under the given competitive adsorption between displaced and displacing anions. To do this, the soil columns uniformly packed to a bulk density of 1.25 $g/cm^3$ with Cecil Bt soil were disected and analyzed the amounts of sulfate and oxalic acid both in solution and solid phases after flowing the designated pore volumes of oxalic acid The results showed that two sets of curves-nonlinear (> $10^3M$) and linear (> $10^3M$) curves where the solution of oxalic acid was not adiustet while the approaches to the plateau were slow when pH of oxalic acid was adjusted to 5. The cumulative amount of sulfate desorbed by successive addition of oxalic acid was nonlinearly approached to the plateau at the concentration of $10^3M$ or greater, indicating that the number of addition of oxalic acid increased with decreasing order of oxalic acid. However, the plateau did not obtain where the concentration of oxalic acid were less than $10^4M$, showing a linear increase. Therefore, we may conclude that the rate-limited desorption was involved as the concentration of oxalic acid decreased.

The radial slot configuration in the solid propellant grain is usually fabricated by the polyurethane foam slot former The foam cannot be easily removed from the solid propellant, some can remain in the slot. Analogue solid propellant rocket motors using polyurethane foam to shape the slot are static fired with the foam former still in place in the slot. The pressure increases at the slot part are measured and there are indications of the propellant cracks at the insulations above the slot. The pressure increase is produced at the beginning of the burning sequence as the foam will hinder the combustion gas of the burning propellant from flowing into the central bore. The pressure increase up to about 300psi is predicted for the motor tested and this pressure increase depends on the gap between the propellant and foam surfaces and remaining foam volume. This amount of pressure increase inside of the slot is estimated to cause the propellant crack. To prevent this pressure increase, minimizing the foam remainder in the slot and making sufficient chamfering at the comer of the slot entrance are suggested.
This paper addresses a numerical simulation of the flow and heat transfer in a simplified model of helically coiled tube steam generator using a general purpose computational fluid dynamic analysis computer code. The steam generator model is comprised of a cylindrical shell and helically coiled tubes. A cold feed water entered the tubes is heated up, evaporates. and finally become a superheated steam with a large amount of heat transferred continuously from the hot compressed water at higher pressure flowing counter-currently through the shell side. For the calculation of tube side two-phase flow field formed by boiling, inhomogeneous two-fluid model is used. Both the internal and external turbulent flows are simulated using the standard k-e model. The conjugate heat transfer analysis method is employed to calculate the conduction in the tube wall with finite thickness and the convections in the internal and external fluids simultaneously so as to match the fluid-wall-fluid interface conditions properly. The numerical calculations are peformed for helically coiled tubes of steam generator at an integral type pressurized water reactor under normal operation. The effects of tube-side inlet flow velocity are discussed in details. The results of present numerical simulation are considered to be physically plausible based on the data and knowledge from previous experimental and numerical studies where available.

PU flame-retardant coatings (APHD) containing phosphorous were prepared by blending of hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer, white pigment, dispersing agent, flowing agent, and previously prepared benzoic acid modified polyester (APTB) that contains phosphorous. Physical properties of the prepared APHD were examined. With the introduction of BZA (contained in APTB), the film viscosity and film hardness of APHD decreased. With the introduction of caprolactone group, the flexibility, impact resistance, accelerated weathering resistance of APTBs increased. Flame retardancy of the coatings was tested. In a vertical burning method, APHD shows 210${\sim}$313 seconds, and in a $45^{\circ}$ Meckel burner method, shows 1.3${\sim}$4.0$cm^2$ of char length, which indicates that the coatings are good flame-retardant coatings. Moreover, the amount of afterglow and flame retardancy of the coatings are decreased with increasing BZA content.

The amount of heat loss of a refrigerator through the gasket is nearly 30% of total refrigerator heat loss. In this paper, quantitative evaluation for the effects of various effort to reduce heat losses through the gasket. The first trial is to extend the inner gasket to prevent the heat loss flowing from the inner of refrigerator. The effects of thermal conductivity changes of gasket and magnet are investigated by the numerical heat transfer analysis. The position change of hot line is also examined in the present research. From the present result of the numerical simulation of heat transfer, we are able to reduce the heat loss about 20~40% by using inner gasket extension. The reducing of thermal conductivity of gasket is considerable in the heat loss reduction. On the other hand, the thermal conductivity change of magnet has no apparent effect in heat loss reduction. The position change of hot line has considerable positive effect in the reduction of heat loss near gasket region.
The Mekong River plays an extremely important role in Southeast Asia. Flowing through six countries, including China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos PDR, Cambodia, and Vietnam, it is a site of great biological and ecological diversity and the habitat of numerous species of fish. It also supports a very large population that lives along the river basin. Therefore, much attention has been focused on the giant Mekong River Basin, particularly, its soil erosion and sedimentation problems. In fact, many methods have been used to calculate and simulate these problems. However, in the case of the Mekong River Basin, the available data is limited because of the extreme size of the area (about $795,000km^2$) and lack of equipment systems in the countries through which the Mekong River flows. In this study, we applied the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) model in a GIS (Geographic Information System) framework to calculate the amount of soil erosion and sediment load during the selected period, from 1951 to 2007. The result points out dangerous areas, such as the Upper Mekong River Basin and 3S Basin (containing the Sekong, Sesan, and Srepok Rivers) that are suffering the serious consequences of soil erosion problems. Moreover, the present model is also useful for supporting river basin management in the implementation of sustainable management practices in the Mekong River Basin and other basins.
