호접란 촉성재배를 위한 하계 고온기 폐광 자연냉풍처리가 개화에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 본 실험을 실시하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 보령지방 폐광의 자연냉풍온도는 $12{\sim}14^{\circ}C$이였으며 이 온도를 주온 $22^{\circ}C$, 야온 $20^{\circ}C$로 조절하여 6월부터 8월까지 처리하였다. 이 온도는 호접란 화성유도 기본 온도범위이었으며, 이 때 외부 평균기온은 $28.4{\sim}32.8^{\circ}C$로 나타났다. 화경 발생은 20일저온경과에서 3% 발생되었으며, 45일 경과에서 65% 이상 발생되었고, 90일 경과에서 100% 발생하였다. 화경장은 30일 경과에서 48.7cm로 짧았으며, 60일 경과에서 62.4cm로 길어져 처리기간이 길수록 화경장이 신장되었다. 화수장, 소화수도 같은 경향이었고, 화경 마디수는 6~7개로 저온 경과일수와는 큰 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 개화는 45일 경과에서 9월 15일에 가장 빨리 개화되었고 저온 경과일수가 길수록 늦어지는 경향을 나타내었다. 고온기 폐광 자연냉풍처리는 무처리에 비하여 화경 발생시기는 3개월, 개화기는 4개월 정도 촉진되었다.

A freesia (Freesia hybrida Hort.) 'Dancing Flame' was developed for the cut flower in the National Institute of Horticultural Herbal Science in 2007. This hybrid was selected from a crossing between a seedling 'Vulcano' and 'Sailor', which is scarlet double flowering and purple single flowering, respectively, and 'Figaro' which is bright red color and semi-double flowering, in 2000. Morphological characteristics of the selected hybrid were investigated for 3 years from 2005 to 2007, and then it was named 'Dancing Flame'. 'Dancing Flame' had red color (RHS R44B) and single flower with yellow center color (RHS Y9A). The growth of the plant was vigorous and the average height was 93.3 cm. The average flower width was 60 mm, number of floret per stalk was 14.3, and stalk was 13.2 cm length. The average yield, 7.8 cuttings per plant, was 2.5 stems per plant more than the control cultivar. The average days to first flowering of 'Dancing Flame', 133 days, was approximately 5 days earlier than the control cultivar. And its average yield, 7.1 cormlet per plant, was also 2.5times more than the control cultivar.

We estimated phenotypic selection on the height and number of flowering-stalks in a rosette annual Cardamine hirsuta by applying path analysis to the data collected at three natural populations located in central Japan. The path from rosette size was positively connected with the fruit production through the both height and number of flowering-stalks. In the all three populations, the paths from the number of stalks were more strongly connected with the fruit production than from the height of stalks. The paths from the rosette size showed similar magnitude with the number of stalks and the height of stalks. The direct path from rosette size to the fruit production was detected only at one site. These results suggest stronger phenotypic selection on the rosette size through the number of stalks than the height of stalks. The lateral branching rather than increment of individual inflorescence size is the major response to control the fruit production for C. hirsuta growing in a natural habitat.

A freesia (Freesia hybrida Hort.) 'Shiny Bell' was developed for the cut flower in the National Institute of Horticultural Herbal Science in 2012. This hybrid was selected from a crossing between cn. 'Teresa' and 'Rossini', which is white semi-double flowering and red double flowering, respectively. in 2004. Morphological characteristics of the selected hybrid were investigated for 3 years from 2009 to 2011, and then it was named 'Shiny Bell'. 'Shiny Bell' had red color of RHS W155C, and double flower. The growth of the plant was vigorous and the average height was 109.3 cm. The average flower width was 5.8 mm, number of floret per stalk was 11.3, and stalk length was 8.5 cm. The average yield, 7.3 Branches per plant, was 3 stems per plant more than the control cultivar. The average days to first flowering of 'Shiny Bell', was 143.3 days, and it was approximately 7 days later than the control cultivar. The average yield of 'Shiny Bell' was 4.0 cormlets per plant.

글라디올러스의 생육에 있어 엽초의 역할을 알아보기 위해 제거시기와 제거수를 달리하여 엽초제거 한 후 생육반응을 조사한 결과, 생육초기의 광조건에 관계없이 엽초를 모두 제거함으로써 화경장과 화수장이 짧아졌고 개화수도 적어졌으며 특히 제거시기가 빠를수록 생육이 현저하게 저조해졌다. 그러나 엽초제거에 따른 개화소요일수는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 엽초를 엽위별로 제거한 처리구에서 엽초 1, 2 및 3매를 제거한 것은 생육 차이를 보이지 않았으나 글라디올러스의 초장 생장에 비례적으로 자라난 4번째 엽초를 포함하여 제거한 엽초 4매 제거구에서 타 처리구에 비해 화경장이 25cm이상 작아졌으며 화수장도 짧아지고 개화수도 적어졌다. 또한 줄기기부도 비정상적으로 굵어졌다.

Stem firmness and flowering response of cut lily as influenced by medium composition (Control: Upland soil, Pt: Peatmoss, Pe: Perlite, Ve: Vermiculite, Rrh: Rotted rice-hull, RPt: Russian Peatmoss) were studied. For 'Casa Blanca', plant height and length of flower stalk increased when bulbs were planted in Pt:Rrh:Ve(1:1:1, v/v), and dried leaves of lower part plants decreased by RPt:Pe:Rrh(1:1:1, v/v). In case of 'Marco Polo' plant height and length of flower stalk increased with Pt:Rrh(1:1, v/v) as compared to other treatment, number of leaves and dried leaves increased when bulbs were planted in RPt:Pe:Rrh(1:1:1, v/v) as compared to control. Flowering of 'Casa Blanca' was promoted in Pt:Pe:Ve(1:1:1, v/v) and 'Marco Polo' was accelerated in Pt:Rrh:Ve(1:1:1, v/v). Flower length of 'Casa Blanca' was increased by RPt:Pe:Rrh(1 :1 :1, v/v) as compared with control and 'Marco Polo' was increased when bulbs planted to Pt:Rrh(1 :1, v/v). Flower-bud blasting of two cultivars was increased with Pt as compared with other treatment. Stem firmness of 'Casa Blanca' was increased by Pt:Pe:Ve (1:1 :1, v/v), and especially, stem firmness of upper part plants was increased by Pt:Rrh(1 :1, v/v) in 'Marco Polo' as compared to control plants. but generally, stem firmness of 'Casa Blanca' was not influenced with all cultural media as compared to control.

태국에서 도입한 Curcuma 18종 및 품종의 생육 및 개화특성을 조사하여 용도별로 우수 품종을 선발하였다. Curcuma alismatifolia 'Chiangmai Pink', 'Tropic Snow', 'Chiangmai Dark Pink', 'Lady Di', 'Siam Violet Lily' 등은 화경장이 약 40~55cm 정도이고 절화수명도 매우 길어 절화용으로 적합하였으며, C. alismatifolia 'Cambodian Red', 'Cambodian Scarlet'와 C. sparganifolia 'Siam Ruby' 및 C. thorelii 'Chiangmai Snow'는 10-20cm 정도로 화경장이 짧아 분화용으로 적합하였다. 꽃(화서)의 수명은 대부분 30일 이상 유지되었다.

덴파레 유묘 및 성묘의 온도, 일장, 생장조절제에 의한 생육 및 개화기 촉진을 목적으로 10시간 및 16시간 일장처리는 3월 24일부터 5월 23일까지 하여 생육 및 개화조사를 하였다. 1년생묘(유묘) 덴파레 'Semi alba'를 온도와 일장처리 결과, $30/25^{\circ}C$로 12주 처리시 생육이 가장 빨랐고, 16시간 일장일 때 신초의 생육과 개화가 촉진되었다. 2년생묘 (성묘) 덴파레 'Candistriape ${\times}$ Tedtakiguz'의 일장처리에서는 16시간 일장에서 소화수, 화폭, 경장 등 개화특성에는 차이가 나지 않았으나, 신초에서부터 개화소요일수는 16시간 일장이 216일, 자연일장 241일, 10시간 일장은 243일로, 16시간 일장이 자연일장이나 10시간일장보다 약 25일 빨랐다. 생장조절제처리는 생장과 개화에 뚜렷한 효과가 없었다.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of LED light quality and supplemental LED light on growth and flowering for potted flowering plant of Kalanchoe. 1. Plant height of Kalanchoe was enhanced under Red, regardless of treatment time. 2. Root length and stem diameter of Kalanchoe were enhanced by Red+Blue. 3. The number of internodes was not influenced by LED light quality. Length of flower stalk of Kalanchoe increased under Red+Blue, but treatment time did not result in statistically significant differences. 4. Leaf area was not influenced by LED light quality in Kalanchoe. 5. The number of flower buds and open flowers was decreased by LED light treatment, but days to flowering was reduced by Red+Blue for 4 hr after sunset in Kalanchoe. 6. Chlorophyll and anthocyanin content was not significantly affected by LED light treatment, but anthocyanin content tended to increase by Blue 4 hr after sunset. 7. Fresh and dry weight did not increased by LED light treatment in Kalanchoe.

초장과 화경장은 'Casa Blanca'의 경우 Pt:Rrh:Ve(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 증가되었고, 화경의 낮은 부위의 고사엽수는 Rpt:Pe:Rrh(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 감소되었다. 'Marco Polo'의 초장과 화경장은 Pt:Rrh(1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 대조구에 비해 증가되었고, 고사엽수는 Rpt:Pe;Rrh(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 다른 처리구에 비해 증가되었다. 개화는 'Casa Blanca'의 경우 Pt:Pe:Ve(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 'Marco Polo'의 경우는 Pt:Rrh:Ve(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$)의 처리구에서 상당히 촉진되었다. 꽃의 길이는 'Casa Blanca'의 경우 'Rpt:Pe:Rrh(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$)'처리구에서, 'Marco Polo'의 경우는 Pt;Rrh(1:1, v.v$^{-1}$)처리구에서 대조구에 비해 증가되었다. 꽃의 퇴화는 두 품종 모두 Pt 단용처리시 다른 처리구에 비해 증가되었다. 화경의 경도는 'Casa Blanca'의 경우는 Pt:Pe;Ve(1:1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 특히, 'Marco Polo'의 화경상단부의 경도는 Pt:Rrh(1:1, v.v$^{-1}$) 처리구에서 대조구에 비해 매우 증가되었다. 그러나 일반적으로 'Casa Blanca'의 화경 경도는 재배 배양토에 의해 크게 영향을 받지 않았다.
