Cerebellar Hemorrhage due to a Direct Carotid-Cavernous Fistula after Surgery for Maxillary Cancer

  • Infratentorial cerebral hemorrhage due to a direct carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) is very rare. To our knowledge, only four such cases have been reported. Cerebellar hemorrhage due to a direct CCF has not been reported. We describe a 63-year-old female who presented with reduced consciousness 3 days after undergoing a maxillectomy for maxillary cancer. Computed tomography showed a cerebellar hemorrhage. Magnetic resonance angiography showed a left-sided direct CCF draining into the left petrosal and cerebellar veins through the left superior petrosal sinus (SPS). Her previous surgery had sacrificed the pterygoid plexus and facial vein. Increased blood flow and reduced drainage could have led to increased venous pressure in infratentorial veins, including the petrosal and cerebellar veins. The cavernous sinus has several drainage routes, but the SPS is one of the most important routes for infratentorial venous drainage. Stenosis or absence of the posterior segment of the SPS can also result in increased pressure in the cerebellar and pontine veins. We emphasize that a direct CCF with cortical venous reflux should be precisely evaluated to determine the hemodynamic status and venous drainage from the cavernous sinus.

  • It is well known that the structure of brain and consciousness of human have a phenomena of complex system. The human emotion have a many kind. The love is one of human emotion, which have been studied in sociology and psychology as a matter of great interested thing. In this paper, we consider a same and different time delay in love equation of Romeo and Juliet. We represent a behavior of love as a time series and phase portrait, and analyze the difference of behaviors between a same and different time delay.

  • As the living standards have been enhanced thanks to rapid to rapid economic growth following industrial progress, today the advancement of woman into specialized jobs keep expanding not only for economic purpose such as increasing family income but also due to changed perception on woman's role, i.e. self-realization. In the actual situations, however, women are generally placed in a inferior position compared with men in most jobs, despite existence of gender equality policy. Therefore, concern and study on female adaptation into job and their work attitude have become increasingly important, which can contribute to alleviating women's discontent in the work but to raising efficiency of job execution and improving work quality. In this treatise, I researched the job attitude of woman for the period of 1980 up to 2005, with interval of every 5 years. For empirical analysis, research has been done towards females teachers in elementary and middle schools as well as female works in financial institutions. Both job fields have comparatively high percentage of female employees and have less sexual discrimination. The purpose of this vertical research is (1) to find out how women workers perceive their job environment, (2) to analyze empirically the change in female job attitude and their flow of consciousness. Ultimately this treatise aimed at contributing to efficient management of female work force in our society.

Surgical Treatment of Giant Serpentine Aneurysm of A2-A3 Segment Distal Anterior Cerebral Artery : Technical Case Report

  • Objective : To report our surgical experience using in situ end-to-side bypass for giant serpentine distal anterior cerebral artery aneurysm, unsuitable for microsurgical clipping. Methods : A 49-year-old woman presented with headache and intermittent loss of consciousness. The brain computed tomography scan revealed a partially calcified mass in the interhemispheric fissure. On cerebral angiography, that was giant ($30{\times}18mm$ sized), serpentine aneurysm originating from the A2 to A3 segment of the distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA). The aneurysm was trapped with clips, and the right A3 segment to left A3 segment of DACA, end-to-side in situ bypass was performed. Surgical result was favorable, with no newly developed ischemic event in the acute recovery period. Postoperative angiography showed total occlusion of the aneurysm and good patency, with preserved distal flow. Conclusion : Giant fusiform aneurysms of the DACA are extremely rare and can be particularly challenging to treat. End-to-side A3 : A3 bypass with aneurysm trapping could be a treatment modality for these locations.

  • In this study, through the Wuwei-ziran of Alighieri Dante's La Divina Commedia & Humanism and Chuang-tzu, revealed in the full-length animation '9' reflecting the loss of humanity and the recovery and the artististic consciousness of producing animation with a new world view, It is an animation case analysis that restores humanity and awakens the inside of human being. Wuwei-ziran of Chuang-tzu is a way of life which helps humans to flow through relation and coordination. Wuwei-ziran is a way of life of dharma where all things are harmonized by the subjective self It is the beginning.

A Study for Quality of Life in Musically Talented Students Using Experience Sampling Method (경험표집법(ESM)을 통해 본 음악영재의 삶의 질)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the quality of life of musically talented students as measured by their external experiences (e.g., activities, companions) and internal experiences (e.g., flow, emotion). The participants in this study were 33 musically talented students (10 males, 23 females) aged 13 to 19. Study data were collected for 7 consecutive days using the Experience Sampling Method (ESM), which employs a cellular-phone as a signaling device. The results were as follows: First, in response to the 1625 random signals, musically talented students reported that 40.9% of their time was spent on productive activities. An additional 33.4% of time was used for maintenance activities and the rest of their time was spent on leisure/social activities. Also, musically talented students reported that 48.5% of their time was spent alone. When they were alone, they spent a lot of time engaging in productive activities (44.3%). Second, in order to measure the flow of their life, two methods were used. One used a 4-channel flow model (i.e. apathy, boredom, flow, anxiety) and the other used 8 dimensions and conditions of the flow experience (i.e. concentration, self-consciousness disappears, action and awareness merge, distorted sense of time, freedom from worry about failure, clear goals, immediate feedback, balance between challenges and skills). According to the former, when engaged in music-related activities, musically talented students usually reported flow (54.0%), while they felt apathy (41.3%) for daily routines activities. According to the latter method, musically talented students experienced flow for most productive activities, while they experienced flow least for maintenance activities. Emotional variables of ESF are comprised of 10 semantic scales (i.e. happy-sad, strong-weak, active-passive, sociablelonely, proud-ashamed, involved-detached, excited-bored, clear-confused, relaxed-worried, cooperative-competitive). Musically talented students reported experiencing the most positive emotion for social activities and experiencing the most negative emotion for maintenance activities. Results of this study assert that musically talented students had to trade off immediate enjoyment for developing their special gifts. They could not afford as much time for socializing with friends, and they had to spend more time alone compared to their peers without such gifts. Consequently, they were found to deprive themselves of the spontaneous good times that teenagers usually thrive on. They were helped in this respect by their autotelic personality traits, especially their strong need for achievement and endurance. The downside, however, is that the moment-to-moment quality of their moods suffered. The argument concerning musically talented students applies for all adolescents. The choices that talented students must make between immediate gratification and long-term development, and between solitude and companionship, are the same choices every young person must make, regardless of her or his level of talent. All of us have gifts that are potentially useful and worthy of being appreciated. But to develop these latent talents we must cultivate them, and this takes time and the investment of mental energy. The lifestyle that musically talented students develop can show us some of the choices all of us must make in order to cultivate our gifts.

The effect of teaching types of liberal arts physical education to Class Satisfaction, Class Flow and Physical Education Attitude (교양체육수업의 교수유형이 수업만족 및 수업몰입, 체육교과태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of teaching style of liberal arts physical education professors to class satisfaction, Class flow and physical education attitude of liberal arts students. A study was conducted on a total of 221 liberal arts students. For the collected data, a confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis (Cronbach' α) for the measurement tool were performed using the SPSS 26.0 and Amos 21.0 programs. And correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. The liberal arts physical education Professor's teaching stlye affects the student's class satisfaction (educational satisfaction, environmental satisfaction, psychosocial satisfaction, physical satisfaction), and students' class flow (class immersion, purpose experience, consciousness agreement, challenge, control, Integration). In addition, it has various effects on the student's attitude toward physical education(relationships, physical activity, active participation, health and physical fitness, positive emotions). Efforts to strengthen the competence of liberal arts physical education professors will be needed to revitalize the liberal arts physical education.

Deep Sedation for Palate Alginate Impression Procedure in a Post-Fontan Procedure Patient with Mental Retardation (Fontan 수술을 받은 정신지체 소아에서 인상채득을 위해 시행한 깊은 진정)

  • The Fontan operation is a heart operation used to treat complex congenital heart defects like tricuspid atresia, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, pulmonary atresia and single ventricle. A single ventricle is dedicated to pumping oxygenated blood to the systemic circulation and the entire systemic venous return reaches the pulmonary arterial system without the direct influence of a pumping chamber. In the patient with Fontan operation, it is important to achieve adequate pulmonary blood flow and cardiac output in anesthetic management. In this case, a 10-year-old boy (19.6 kg, 114 cm) with cleft palate, cerebral palsy and severe mental retardation, who underwent a Fontan operation when he was 4 years old, was presented for deep sedation. Because he was suffering from eating disorder with cleft palate, the orthodontist and the plastic surgeon planned to insert intraoral orthodontic device before cleft palate repair. But it was impossible to open his mouth for alginate impression procedure. After careful pre-anesthesia evaluation we planned to administer deep sedation with propofol infusion. After Intravenous catheter insertion, we started propofol intravenous infusion with the formula of a loading dose of 1.0 mg/kg followed by an infusion rate of 6.0 mg/kg/hr with syringe pump. His blood pressure was remained around 80/40 mmHg after loss of consciousness, but he could not maintain his airway patent. So we lowered the infusion rate to 3.0 mg/kg/hr, immediately. The oxygen saturation was maintained above 95% with nasal oxygen supply, and blood pressure was maintained around 100-80/60-40 mmHg. After the sedation of 110 minutes with propofol (the infusion rate to 3.0-5.0 mg/kg/hr), he fully regained consciousness, and was discharged without complication after 1 hour observation. In case of post-Fontan patient, intravenous deep sedation with propofol was safe and effective method of behavioral management during dental treatment.

Analysis of Research Trends in Tax Compliance using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 활용한 조세순응 연구 동향 분석)

  • In this study, domestic academic journal papers on tax compliance, tax consciousness, and faithful tax payment (hereinafter referred to as "tax compliance") were comprehensively analyzed from an interdisciplinary perspective as a representative research topic in the field of tax science. To achieve the research purpose, topic modeling technique was applied as part of text mining. In the flow of data collection-keyword preprocessing-topic model analysis, potential research topics were presented from tax compliance related keywords registered by the researcher in a total of 347 papers. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, in the keyword analysis, keywords such as tax investigation, tax avoidance, and honest tax reporting system were included in the top 5 keywords based on simple term-frequency, and in the TF-IDF value considering the relative importance of keywords, they were also included in the top 5 keywords. On the other hand, the keyword, tax evasion, was included in the top keyword based on the TF-IDF value, whereas it was not highlighted in the simple term-frequency. Second, eight potential research topics were derived through topic modeling. The topics covered are (1) tax fairness and suppression of tax offenses, (2) the ideology of the tax law and the validity of tax policies, (3) the principle of substance over form and guarantee of tax receivables (4) tax compliance costs and tax administration services, (5) the tax returns self- assessment system and tax experts, (6) tax climate and strategic tax behavior, (7) multifaceted tax behavior and differential compliance intentions, (8) tax information system and tax resource management. The research comprehensively looked at the various perspectives on the tax compliance from an interdisciplinary perspective, thereby comprehensively grasping past research trends on tax compliance and suggesting the direction of future research.

Exploring the Characteristics of Science Gifted Students' Task Commitment (과학 영재들의 과제집착력 특성 탐색)

  • In this research, we tried to discover the characteristics of gifted students by analyzing their experience in showing task commitment. In order to do this, we asked science gifted students to specifically describe their experiences while deeply experimenting on a scientific cause or theory. From their responses, we inductively explored the characteristics of science gifted students by extracting and analyzing the characteristics that show task commitment. Consequentially, the characteristics of the gifted students are divided into nine categories, which are confidence, setting a challenging goal, challenging approach for solving problems, sense of potential control, loss of self-consciousness, time distortion, submission to difficult task, initiative, and endurance, all of which appear repeatedly among the gifted students. With consensus among three experts who have experience in research on gifted education, these nine characteristics can be categorized into 3 characteristics; challenge, flow, and willingness. The three characteristics such as challenge, flow, and willingness well represent a definition of task commitment. These characteristics can explain the level of task commitment exhibited by science gifted students. It is possible to develop the tool and framework for judging the task commitment of gifted students on the basis of their characteristics.
