The conventional graphical representation of the instantaneous compensation power flow for single-phase active power filters(APFs) simply represents the active power flow and the reactive power flow which flowing between the power source and the active filter / the load. But, this method does not provide the information about the rectification mode and the compensation mode of APFs, especially, the loss for each mode was not considered at all. This is very important to understand the compensation operation characteristics of APFs. Therefore, this paper proposes the graphical representation of the instantaneous compensation power flow for single-phase APFs considering the instantaneous rectification mode and the instantaneous inversion mode. Three cases are verified in this paper - without compensation, with compensation of the active power 'p' and the fundamental reactive power 'q', and with compensation of only the distorted power 'h'. To ensure the validity of the proposed approach, PSIM simulation is achieved. As a result, we could confirm that the proposed approach was easy to explain the instantaneous compensation power flow considering the instantaneous rectification mode and the instantaneous inversion mode of APFs, also, Total Harmonic Distortion(THD)/Power Factor (P.F) and Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) analysis were compared for each case.

This paper is on the study of flow force compensation for spool type valves. A simple method for flow force compensation using a stepped spool is presented in this paper. It is easy to manufacture the stepped spool of the presented method because the shape of it is simple. The method has another merit that the size of valve need not be increased. Actuating force required for driving the spool can be decreased through the compensation of flow force. The effect of presented method is predicted through CFD analysis. The results of the CFD analysis are also utilized for the optimization of step shape. The prototypes of flow force compensated Direct Drive Servo-Valve are manufactured, and the measurements of flow force are carried out. The measured effect of flow force compensation is very similar to that from the CFD analysis.

It is known from the measurement that the effect of flow force compensation is very similar to from CFD analysis.
Spin echo gradient moment nulling pulse sequences were designed and implemented on a clinical magnetic resonance imaging system. A new technique was introduced for flow compensation that minimized echo time and effectively suppresses unwanted echoes on the slice selection gradient axis in spin echo sequences. A unified gradient shape was used in all orders of flow compensation up to the third order. A dual-purpose gradient was applied for flow compensation and to reduce unwanted artifacts. The sequences were used to generate images of phantoms and/or human brains. This technique was especially good at reducing eddy currents and artifacts related to imperfection of the refocusing pulse. The developed sequences were found to have shorter echo times and better flow compensation in through-plane flow than those of the previous models that were used by other investigators.
There are not only lots of controllers such as UMC(Unit Master Controller), BMC(Boiler Master Controller), Fuel Flow controller, Air flow controller, Feed water flow controller, S/H R/H Temperature controller and so on, but also compensation controller such as BTU compensator, Fuel/Water ratio controller and O2 Co controller to take automatic control in the super critical once through boiler. It is important to make complete automation of boiler to use the compensation controller like BTU compensator. For example, In case of some boiler condition, operator has to change combustion parameter for changing the coal, on the contrary BTU compensator can calculate set value of the fuel flow and reset the fuel flow demand by itself. This paper shows us the logic and instruction regarding compensation controller of boiler that can be operated automatically.

This paper proposes a methodology using a tool based on the branch-parameter continuation power flow (BCPF) in order to restore the power flow solvability in unsolvable contingencies. A specified contingency from a set of transmission line contingencies is modeled, considering the transient analysis and practice in the Korean power system. This tool traces a solution path that satisfies the power flow equations with respect to the variation of the branch parameter. At a critical point, in which the branch parameter can move on to a maximum value, a sensitivity analysis with a normal vector is performed to identify the most effective compensation. With the sensitivity information, the location of the reactive power compensation is determined and the effectiveness of the sensitivity information is verified to restore the solvability. In the simulation, the proposed framework is then applied to the Korean power system.
TCV(Temperature control valve by pressure compensation) controls temperature constantly, when it is sending steam or high temperature water to heating device of heat exchanger. For designing TCV, the ratio of piston and hole diameters is one of the important design parameters. Numerical analysis is carried out to elucidate the flow characteristics in the TCV with different port areas of cold and hot waters, using the k-$\epsilon$ turbulence model and Cartesian cut-cell method. Numerical results show that the exit flow rate is mainly affected by pressure distribution in the piston.
Gradient moment nulling techniques require the introduction of an additional gradient on each axis for each order of motion correction to be applied. The additional gradients introduce new constraints on the sequence design and increase the demands on the gradient system. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate techniques for optimization of gradient echo gradient moment nulling sequences within the constraints of the gradient hardware. Flow compensated pulse sequences were designed and implemented on a clinical magnetic resonance imaging system. The design of the gradient moment nulling sequences requires the solution of a linear system of equations. A Mathematica package was developed that interactively solves the gradient moment nulling problem. The package allows the physicist to specify the desired order of motion compensation and the duration of the gradients in the sequence with different gradient envelopes. The gradient echo sequences with first, second, and third order motion compensation were implemented with minimum echo time. The sequences were optimized to take full advantage of the capabilities of the gradient hardware. The sequences were used to generate images of phantoms and human brains. The optimized sequences were found to have better motion compensation than comparable standard sequences.

Constant temperature hot wire air flow meter for automobiles requires temperature compensation system because hot wire output signal is sensitive to ambient temperature variations as well as fluid velocity. The objectives of the present study are to design an air flow meter circuit which is capable of compensating the hot wire output signal for ambient temperature variations and to investigate the mechanism of such temperature compensation. This circuit is composed of platinum hot wire, platinum resistor, two variable resistors, a constant resistor and a DC-amplifier. In particular, by simply replacing a constant resistor in one of the bridge arms of the conventional circuit with platinum resistor and a variable resistor for the purpose of temperature compensation, the deviation of output signal with respect to ambient temperature variations between 27deg. C 70deg. C could be reduced to less than 2.5% for mass flow rate and to less than 5% for velocity respectively. The mechanism of temperature compensation against ambient temperature variations was explained by means of measuring the heat transfer coefficient with hot wire temperature variations and analyzing and analyzing conventional empirical equations qualitatively.
State's compensation obligation accompanied in case of indirect expropriation of foreign investor's investment asset has been established definite principle under international investment law. But the concrete and unified application criterion regarding valuation methods for measuring compensation have not been established yet. The World Bank investment guideline is adopting the Hull's Formula, which is understood as the full compensation standard with prompt adequate effective compensation and Fair Market Value method. It is a general principle that compensation should be equal to the fair market value of investment asset just before indirect expropriation date. However, there is a problem of the valuation method of fair market value of investment asset. In general, discounted cash flow, liquidation value, replacement value, book value, etc. can be the applicable standards. Arbitral tribunals determine compensation by adopting proper valuation method on a case-by-case basis according to the discretion based on the arbitration parties' experts' review on the presented opinion and by considering fact relevance of the issued dispute. This compensation includes also interest, recently it tends to award according to compound interest rather than simple interest. Beginning of the period to generate interest is the next day of the indirect expropriation occurrence date. And it should be considered that interest until the payment of compensation is also included. In addition, it should be considered that mental damages is available only when there's a basis to prove this or special case. Therefore, this study suggests to review of precedents related to indirect expropriation and concretely specify compensation valuation standard and method of indirect expropriation on investment agreements through enough consultation beforehand.
