  • Finite element method and Taguchi method were used to reduce the floor impact vibration of the reinforced concrete slab in the apartment buildings. At first, experimental results show that sound peak components to influence the rating of floor impact sound insulation were coincident with natural frequencies of the reinforced concrete slab, and there is a high linear relation between floor impact vibration and sound. The tables of orthogonal arrays were used for finite element analysis with 5 factors related to slab shape parameters and its results were analyzed by statistical method. The most effective factor to reduce the floor impact vibration was the length of living/kitchen room and the floor impact vibration was predicted by 30% reduction in the acceleration peak by the optimal design values of the factors.

  • Fire resistance of a floor of a railcar is prescribed in the "Guidelines of standard of railcar safety (Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, 2010)". A floor of a railcar should retain its fire resistance for 15 or 20 minutes according its risk level. To evaluate fire resistance of the floor materials which are composed of ceramic board or aluminum foam with weight lightening, fire resistance of railcar floor is numerically analyzed.

  • The purpose of this study is to review and to suggest improvement concerning floor impact noise section of the housing performance grading indication system. After a result, the main improvement is to resolve the discrepancies in the rules or regulations such as design specification(standard floor system) or design performance(accredited floor system) and as-built performance like 58 dB.

  • Due to the location of vibration sensitive equipment on the floor, it is necessary for its vibration performance to be maintained within stringent limits, resulting in a design of higher mass and stiffness than would be usual for a floor of this type. Modal testing is conducted on the floor to obtain their dynamic characteristics. A considerable level of vibration transmission is observed by comparing the ratio of simulated transfer and point mobility FRFs of the floor.

  • It is increasing the interest on the comfortable dwelling environment, while sound insulation performance of materials and elements used in building is falling down as they become thicker and lighter Therefore, sound insulation performance in building has become the most important factor determining the level of housing, especially for apartment that has common wall and floor with next neighbors. • In this research, we suggest the effective technique that the thickness of slab isn't increased, and considering proper shock absorbing material and supporting point, we make the floating floor which has multi-supporting system floating floor. As the result, it is effective in reduction of heavy weight system as well as one of light weight

  • Vibration problem occurring at the metal deck floor system not only reduces the serviceability of a building but also reduces the usability of a floor system. Most problem occurring at the metal deck floor results from the human movement such as walking and running. However the vibration induced by running does not occur continuously except the special case. therefore the floor vibration due to walking was only considered on this paper,. Vibration occurring due to human walking was measured and the corresponding load function was derived through the Fast Fourier Transform(FFT)

  • Wall/floor intersection is important parts of a building envelope system. These intersections can be sources of thermal bridging effects and/or moisture condensation problems. This paper provides a detailed analysis of the thermal performance of wall/floor intersection. In particular, two-dimensional steady-state and transient solutions of the heat conduction within the wall/floor joint are presented. Various insulation configurations are considered to determine the magnitude of heat transfer increase due to wall/floor joint construction.

  • For a periodic variation of the flue gas temperature the heat conduction through the Ondol floor was analysized. Also the heat loss to the ground was estimated. The floor thermal capacity, as a function of the floor thickness, has strong influence on the time lag of the temperature variation. It is an important design parameter for intermittent heating. Even for the steady periodic variation, there was significant heat loss to the ground below the Ondol floor.
