This study used a preliminary survey to help develop an ergonomic flight jacket that is suitable for the working environment and mission performance. The results are as follows. The ergonomic sleeve pattern was designed with a forward 165° incline that considers a shoulder joint direction suitable for the motion; in addition, a closely design opening provided warmth and safety from fire. As a result of the dimensional suitability, pilots evaluated that sleeve length and total length of the developed flight jacket were a little long (p<.01), while flight engineers and crew evaluated that those of the developed flight jacket were appropriate (p<.01). Pilots evaluated that chest circumference and waist circumference were large (p<.05), while flight engineers and crews evaluated that those of the developed flight jacket were appropriate. The evaluation of the motion suitability indicated that pilots, flight engineers and crew found the developed flight jacket more comfortable than the current flight jacket (p<.05, p<.01, p<.001). The evaluation of the usability of pockets and penholders indicated that pilots, flight engineers and crew found the developed jacket easier to use (p<.01). The flight engineers and crew evaluated that the appearance of the developed flight jacket was better than the current flight jacket (p<.05). The results of this study show that the difference of environment and mission performance has a significant influence on evaluation; therefore, it is necessary to develop separate military uniforms that included a winter flight jacket to reflect the needs of each group.

This paper describes the real time Hardware-In-the Loop Simulation(HILS) that is an efective tool for design, testing and performance evaluation of the guidanc eflight system. The real time HILS was performed by using a 3-axis flight motion simulator, real time computer, I/O system and flight control system hardware along with the assumed flight trajectory of the guidance flight system. Also, we proved the validity of the real time HILS is the guidance flight system by comparing its simulation results with the software simulation data and telemetry data.
This study is to understand the preferences of pilots, flight engineers and crew who work in the same aircraft but are exposed to different working environments and perform different mission operations in order to develop an ergonomic flight jacket. Based on a preliminary investigation, a survey of 107 pilots and 36 flight engineers and crew was conducted. The results are as follows; Pilots can control the temperature inside the cockpit, so they are less exposed to the cold when working, while flight engineers and crew are exposed to the cold more because they have many external tasks. The reason for the problem of the current flight jacket was a difference in ranking between two groups, but the highest ranking was poor dimensional suitability due to the habit of wearing layers of clothing. As a result of preferred design, there were significant differences between groups in the item of overall style. Pilots preferred a bomber jacket style(P:68.2%, E&C:44.4%), on the other hand, flight engineers and crew preferred a field jacket style(P:26.2%, E&C:55.6%)(p<.01). They preferred a stand collar(P:71.0%, E&C:86.1%), a fastener slider for a front fastening(P:62.6%, E&C:61.1%), fastener tape cuffs(P:54.2%, E&C:47.2%), a jacket with a softshell(P:86.9%, E&C:83.3%), fleece as softshell material(P:88.8%, E&C:69.4%), and fastener sliders as a attaching method(P:69.2%, E&C:61.1%). A hem fastening will be selected differently according to the overall style of outshell. Additionally, they preferred more than 5ea pockets(P:51.4%, E&C:44.4%), fastener sliders as pocket's fastenings(P:48.6%, E&C:61.1%), armpit ventilations(P:62.9%, E&C:58.5%). The results of above will be considered to design an ergonomic flight jacket.

Experiment of laser propulsion in free flight has never been conducted. At Institute of Fluid Science (IFS), Tohoku University, propulsive impulse generation by focusing on a rest projectile was demonstrated. Based on the ideas obtained from this experiment, experiment of laser propulsion of a projectile in flight by focusing $CO_2$ laser beam is being prepared for. The objective velocity increment in experiment is about 50 m/s.

In this study, the engine performance data was extracted and analyzed through the flight test of Smart UAV which is tilt rotor aircraft. The flight test was conducted for the transition flight regime where the tilt angle of prop-rotor varies from 90 degree to 0 degree and vice versa. The engine performance data such as engine power and specific fuel consumption gathered from flight tests were compared well with the results of engine performance analysis program.

In this study, a performance model of the Smart UAV propulsion system with ducts, tip jets and variable main nozzle, which has flight capability of the rotary wing mode for the take-off/landing and low speed forward flight as well as the fixed wing mode for high speed forward flight, has been newly developed. With the proposed model, steady-state performance analysis was performed at various flight modes and conditions, such as rotary wing mode, fixed wing mode, compound wing, mode altitude and flight speed.

In this paper, we propose a new DPCM-based transmission scheme for flight data. The amount of the flight data from LRU to MC has been increased due to the emergence and development of avionics systems and functions. It becomes a serious issue for satisfying the hard real-time processing required in the MC. In order to solve this problem, we observed the flight data produced by X-Plane simulator and discovered that the most flight data are moderately varied during flight. Based on this fact, a new data format is suggested by modifying that of ARINC-429 protocol in this paper. And the different value of the flight data is transmitted in the proposed scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves 20% data transfer gain compared to the ARINC-429 based transmission method.
Currently, many companies have succeeded in logistics delivery experiments utilizing drone and report it. When a drone is used commercially, long-term flight is an important performance that a drone should have. However, unlike vehicles operated on the ground, drone is a vehicle that continues to consume energy when maintaining the current altitude or moving to the destination. Therefore, the drones can fly for a long time as the capacity of the battery is large, but the batteries with large capacity are restricted by heavy weight and it acts as a limiting factor in a commercial use. To address this issue, we attempt to compare how far we can fly than forward flight based on the flight pattern with the same energy consumption condition. In this paper, the comparison of energy consumption was performed in three flight pattern, forward flight without altitude change and forward flight with altitude change, by computer simulation and it shows the increasing of flight distances when the quadrotor fly with altitude change from high altitude to low altitude.

The experimental results are presented of an autonomous flight algorithm of a foldable quadcopter with airdrop launching functions. A foldable wing structure enabled the quadcopter to be inserted into a rocket container with limited space. The foldable quadcopter was then separated from the rocket in the air. The flight pattern was tracked using a global positioning system (GPS) with various sensors, including an inertial measurement unit (IMU) module until a designated target position was reached. Extensive field tests were conducted through an international rocket competition, ARLISS 2017, which was held in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA. The flight trajectory record of the experiments is stored in electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) embedded in the main control unit. The flight record confirmed that the quadcopter successfully separated from the rocket, executed flight toward the target for a certain length of time, and stably landed on the ground.

In this study, a performance model of the smart UAV propulsion system with ducts, tip jets and variable main nozzle, which has flight capability of the rotary wing mode for the take-off/landing and low speed forward flight as well as the fixed wing mode for high speed forward flight, has been newly developed With the proposed model, steady-state performance analysis was performed at various flight modes such as rotary wing mode, fixed wing mode, compound ing mode and altitude as well as at flight speed conditions. In investigation of performance analysis. it was noted that the operational capability of the propulsion system was limited due to the duct losses depending on each flight mode, and the limitation with the altitude variation case had much greater than that with the flight speed variation case.
