This paper proposes an illuminant-adaptive reproduction method using light adaptation and flare conditions for a mobile display. Displayed images in daylight are perceived as quite dark due to the light adaptation of the human visual system, as the luminance of a mobile display is considerably lower than that of an outdoor environment. In addition, flare phenomena decrease the color gamut of a mobile display and de-saturating the chroma. Therefore, this paper presents an enhancement method composed of lightness enhancement and chroma compensation. First, the ambient light intensity is measured using a lux-sensor, then the flare is calculated based on the reflection ratio of the display device and the ambient light intensity. To improve the perceived image, the image's luminance is transformed by linearization of the response to the input luminance according to the ambient light intensity. Next, the displayed image is compensated according to the physically reduced chroma, resulting from flare phenomena. This study presents a color reproduction method based on an inverse cone response curve and flare condition. Consequently, the proposed algorithm improves the quality of the perceived image adaptive to an outdoor environment.
The most important element for improving the process safety that occurs from the flare system installed to convert into safe materials by burning the inflammable or toxic gases within the process and this is specified in the API 521 Code so that the radiation does not cause a risk factor. The flames that occur from the flare stack holds the shape of jet fire due to the pressure and flow velocity of discharge gas. This study has identified the shape of flames by using the Chamberlain Model rather than the API 521 Code method, analyzing the radiation due to this.
To better understand the physics underlying the eruption of prominences in solar active regions, we studied eruption processes of two active prominences located in the active region NOAA 11261 using multi-wavelength observational data with high temporal and spatial resolution. Specifically, we examined (1) the temporal variation of morphology and plasma properties of the two active prominences, (2) magnetic fields and their evolution on the photospheric surface underneath the prominences, and (3) the time profiles and locations of radio, EUV, and soft/hard X-ray emissions produced by the M9.3 flare related to the prominence eruption. As a result, we found that: (1) a prominence F1 began to erupt and expand as the abrupt and intense EUV brightening occurred in the localized region underneath the western part of F1 at 03:45 UT prior to the peak time of the M9.3 flare, (2) F1 split into two parts: i.e., the western part asymmetrically erupted by producing the M9.3 flare with microwave source motions along the magnetic polarity inversion line between the two flare ribbons, while the eastern part coalesced into a pre-existing prominence F2, (3) F2 became unstable due to the coalescence with the eastern part of F1, and then it partially erupted with clockwise untwisting motions.

The approach and landing phase of a re-entry vehicle is composed of Steep Glideslope phase, Circular Flare phase, Flare Maneuver phase. The trajectory planning algorithm with geometric parameters is studied in this paper for on-board trajectory planning. This algorithm generate reference trajectory rapidly considering safe landing of re-entry vehicle. In this paper, the Mamdani Fuzzy PD type controller for longitudinal and lateral control is designed which has robustness of nonlinear system. In addition, the simulation is performed including initial downrange and crossrange errors, and the results shows that the proposed fuzzy logic controller has good performance.
In this study we develop a set of solar proton event (SPE) forecast models with NOAA scales by Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP), one of neural network methods, using GOES solar X-ray flare data from 1976 to 2011. Our MLP models are the first attempt to forecast the SPE scales by the neural network method. The combinations of X-ray flare class, impulsive time, and location are used for input data. For this study we make a number of trials by changing the number of layers and nodes as well as combinations of the input data. To find the best model, we use the summation of F-scores weighted by SPE scales, where F-score is the harmonic mean of PODy (recall) and precision (positive predictive value), in order to minimize both misses and false alarms. We find that the MLP models are much better than the multiple linear regression model and one layer MLP model gives the best result.
In this paper, we report a small-scale emerging island and double arc loops, which are associated with a M6.5 flare, in Active Region 12371. We investigate the spatial and temporal changes of both photospheric magnetic fields using SDO/HMI data and coronal magnetic structures obtained from nonliner force-free field (NLFFF) extrapolation. From the vector magnetograms, we find a small-scale emerging island near the main polarityy inversion line about three hours before the flare. The island has a strong shear angle, which is determined by difference between transverse component of observed field and potential field, of around 90 degrees. Furthermore, the NLFFF well reproduces a sigmoidal structure seen in SDO/AIA 94, which is consistent with the double arc loops configuration suggested by Ishiguro and Kusano (2017) who introduced a magnetic configuration showing the double arc instability. The observed emerging island is located among the double arc loops, which is also supproted by their model. Finally, there was an eruption (M6.5 flare) associated with the loops. We discuss a possible role of the double arc instability for the eruption.

The target such as aircraft operates flares to protect itself from the missile. In general, Infra-red(IR) flares that are hot bodies radiating energy considerably greater than it does, so cause the missile to guide the flare instead of the target. For a precise target tracking in spite of a presence of flares, therefore, the seeker should discriminate the target signal from various clutters including the flare and the background. In this paper, we simulated 2-color rosette scan seeker using IR and UV(UltraViolet) bands. In each wave band, we analyzed the radiant distributions of the target, the flare, and background. These results showed that a simultaneous process in two bands can detect precisely the target.

We are developing empirical space weather (geomagnetic storms, solar proton events, and solar flares) forecast models based on solar information. These models have been set up with the concept of probabilistic forecast using historical events. Major findings can be summarized as follows. First, we present a concept of storm probability map depending on CME parameters (speed and location). Second, we suggested a new geoeffective CME parameter, earthward direction parameter, directly observable from coronagraph observations, and demonstrated its importance in terms of the forecast of geomagnetic storms. Third, the importance of solar magnetic field orientation for storm occurrence was examined. Fourth, the relationship among coronal hole-CIR-storm relationship has been investigated, Fifth, the CIR forecast based on coronal hole information is possible but the storm forecast is challenging. Sixth, a new solar proton event (flux, strength, and rise time) forecast method depending on flare parameters (flare strength, duration, and longitude) as well as CME parameter (speed, angular width, and longitude) has been suggested. Seventh, we are examining the rates and probability of solar flares depending on sunspot McIntosh classification and its area change (as a proxy of flux change). Our results show that flux emergence greatly enhances the flare probability, about two times for flare productive sunspot regions.

The purpose of this study was to observe the changes of skirt length of knitted flare skirts when the seamless test garments were made which had been having full shape while being knitted and to change and amend the challenges in advance when those were knitted. For this study, I made 6 kinds of knitted test garments of wool 100% yarn with seamless knitting machine, which differed from each other by skirt angles ($90^{\circ},\;180^{\circ}$) and gauges (7G, 12G, 15G), and then I measured deflection changes of their length for 2 weeks. Findings and conclusions drawn from this study were as follows: First, the side seam line of full shape hecame somewhat longer than center. Second, 7G and $180^{\circ}$ knitted flare skirt showed the biggest length deflection changes. Third, there was no difference at rear waist deflection changes between front pattern and rear. Fourth, it was difficult to control the tensions of right and left strings as to the knitting directions.
The formation process of a current sheet is important for solar flare from a viewpoint of a space weather prediction. We therefore derive the temporal development of the spatial and statistical distribution of electric current density distributed in a flare-producing active region to describe the formation of a current sheet. We derive time sequence distribution of electric current density by applying a nonlinear force-free approximation reconstruction to Active Region 12158 that produces an X1.6-class flare. The time sequence maps of photospheric vector magnetic field used for reconstruction are captured by a Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) onboard Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) on 10th September, 2014. The spatial distribution of electric current density in NLFFF model well reproduce observed sigmoidal structure at the preflare phase, although a layer of high current density shrinks at the postflare phase. A double power-law profile of electric current density is found in statistical analysis. This may be expected to use an indicator of the occurrence of a solar flare.
