Objectives : This is what tries to study irregular pairs between five viscera and five tatstes. And than tries to make convincing explanation. Methods : We analysed "SuWen ZangQiFaShiLun素問 藏氣法時論", "YiXueQiYuan醫學啓源", "TangYeBenCao湯液本草", "BenCaoGangMu 本草綱目" and "FuXingJueZangFuYongYaoFaYao輔行訣臟腑用藥法要". We found difference and similarities between these books. Result & Conclusions : "YiXueQiYuan", "TangYeBenCao", "BenCaoGangMu" inherit pairs between five viscera and five tatstes from "ZangQiFaShiLun". "YiXueQiYuan" had added examples of herbs to "ZangQiFaShiLun". "TangYeBenCao" had added examples of priscriptions to "ZangQiFaShiLun". "BenCaoGangMu" had added examples of herbs to "ZangQiFaShiLun". But new pairs between five viscera and five tatstes had suggested in the "FuXingJueZangFuYongYaoFaYao". We think that the new pairs are more logical than the others.

Four Properties and five Flavors of Drugs is interpreted by adaptation of human body to the environmental theory(天人相應). The Structural model of the body is compared with sky, earth, sun and moon (天, 地, 日, 月). The natural changes of the four seasons give rise to that of Four Properties and five Flavors of Drugs. On equal terms it is happened in our body. On this study we can draw an analogy between sky, earth, sun & moon (天, 地, 日, 月) and the body. The six bu(六腑) is related to the earth, the five ju(五主) to the sky, the five jang(五臟) to the sun, the meridians system (經絡) to the moon. When spring, the air is warm, the water element of the earth is ascending, and the earth gives birth to the sour flavor. Like this, the water element is absorbed by six bu and then is ascended to the meridian system. When summer, the air is hot and the water element of the earth is floated, the earth make the bitter flavor. In the same way, the six bu absorbed the hot air from the five ju and the water element is quickly absorbed by six bu and then the water element is ascended to the meridian system. When rainy season (長夏), the earth creates the sweet flavor The sweet flavor give warmer energy to the five jang and the six bu. When autumn, the earth change the sweet flavor into pungent. The earth gives warmer energy to the sky, because of cool weather According to same process, the pungent flavor give warmer energy to the five jang and the six bu, and the meridian system gets back the water element from the five ju. When winter, the air is cold and the water element of the earth is hidden. The sky and the earth are not interchangeable. At that time, the earth produce the salty flavor and the water element is keeping in the meridian system.

The formative procedure of five-viscera has been explained for the restriction[相克; 己勝] and the reverse restriction[相侮, 勝己] in five phase theory on the medical literatures from ancient times. In the formative procedure of five-viscera, it would seem that two theories are mutually contradictory. But this problem is solved in the view: As the upward, downward movement and the circulation progress, five-viscera and five-bowels develop. In brief on the formative procedure of human viscera and bowels, first, the circulation of five-viscera and five-bowels forms three phase of upper-middle-lower(fire-earth-water), and these phases generate Triple energizers[Samcho, 三焦], consequently it is to be five-viscera and six-bowels, to be formed 'Meridian and collateral[Gyeongnak, 經絡]' in that order. The triple energizers is situated in middle stage of formation of 'Vicera' and 'Meridian and collateral' on developing stage. It would be thought that Triple energizer meridian[Susoyangsamchogyeong, 手少陽三焦經] is formed in procedure of Meridian and collateral after formation of upper-middle-lower of the triple energizers.

Objective : To characterize Five Woons of Asian women who live at Los Angeles area in U.S.A Methods : A set of physical tests and diagnostic questions were given to 242 Asian female subjects who were treated for their symptoms at a clinic of Asian medicine near Los Angeles in USA. The participants were given their constitutions, one of the Five Woons based on their birthdays. The physical tests included a body composition via Inbody 4.0 and an autonomic bioelectric response record via ABR2000. The oneway analysis of variance was applied to compare the means of the Five Woons and the physical test results. The Cross tabulation analysis was also applied to look for the effectiveness of Five Woons on the symptoms. Results : 1. In the body composition items, the LSD(least significant difference) showed that there were significant differences between the Soil Woon and the other Four Woons which are Water, Metal, Fire and Wood Woons in weight, fat, body fat %, BMI (p<0.2). 2. Based on the LSD, significant differences were observed among the Five Woons in R5, R6 and R7(p<0.2). 3. The cross tabulation analysis showed the significant effectiveness of the Five Woons on the five symptoms including dizziness, hot and cold, lower body edema, fatigue and to take a medication for high blood pressure out of 24 diagnostic questions (p<0.2). Conclusions : Further clinical research is necessary to develop a more delicate questionnaire and look for ways of characterizing the Five Woons. The diagnosis and corresponding treatment based on the Five Woons should be further studied in view of the Oriental medicine.

Objective : I would define the differences of sentences that 'A tongue can detect five basic tastes' and 'A mouth can perceive the five cereals' in Youngchu Macdo(靈樞 脈度). Methods : 1. I refer to literatures for the sentences in Youngchu Macdo 2. I look into the symptoms which may be caused by heart and pancreas troubles, respectively. Result : Human being can not detect a specific taste on his heart trouble. That is, acid, bitter, sweet, hot, and saltness can be all one. Human being may lose his appetite on his pancreas trouble. Even though the viscera and the tongue are connected to on-meridians, the function of a tongue is managed and controlled by a heart. Such a tongue perceives five basic tastes. Conclusion : A healthy tongue appreciates five basic tastes clearly and a healthy mouth may stimulate his appetite.

Objectives : The metastasis among the Five Viscera are given, passim, in the Hwangjenaegyeong (黃帝內經). Generally, the metastasis among the Five Viscera followed 'mutual generation' and 'mutual overcoming' of the Five Elements. But, the metastasis among the Five Viscera on the Gi Gual Ron not followed. The metastasis are connected with the Eight Diagrams. The Eight Diagrams are classified 'Earlier Heaven' and 'Later Heaven'. It also be assigned the Five Elements. Results : The metastasis order and the principle of shift its location from 'Earlier Heaven' to 'Later Heaven' are similar. Conclusions : Therefore, the metastasis among the Five Viscera on the Gi Gual Ron is based on the law of shift its location from 'Earlier Heaven' to 'Later Heaven'.

Pressures of a five-hole probe were measured for a full range of yaw and pitch angles and complete pressure coefficient maps were obtained. Based on these maps, various features of five-hole probe pressures were revealed and new five-hole probe calibration coefficients were devised. The new calibration coefficients show non-diverging characteristics for any flow direction and one-to-one correspondence for a wide range of flow angles. These calibration coefficients expand the valid flow angle range of five-hole probe calibration by .+-.10 degrees and complement a critical defect of five-hole probe zone-division calibration method which has not been known yet. Moreover new non-diverging calibration coefficients have advantages in nulling methods, too.

Objective : "Sikryochanyo"written by Jeon Soonyi is the first food-Therapy book at Korea. In "Sikryochanyo", there are many kinds of food-Therapy including Five-Vegetable therapy. Method : We will try to find out cases of food-therapy with Five-Vegetable in "Sikryochanyo". Result : In "Sikryochanyo", Five-Vegetable were treated as materia medica widely. Green onion, one of Five-Vegetable as materia medica was the major in use and porridge or soup were the major in frquency. Conclusion : On several types of Five-Vegetable, such as parts or whole, methods to make, the prescription shape etc., there are plenty of usage with its own effectiveness.

We identified 22 ciliate species, including five unrecorded ciliate species, from temporary ponds on a grass lawn. The five unrecorded species are as follows: class Nassophorea - Pseudomicrothorax agilis Mermod, 1914, Nassula exigua Kahl, 1931, class Colpodea - Cyrtolophosis mucicola Stokes, 1885, Maryna ovata (Gelei, 1950) Foissner, 1993, and class Spirotrichea - Meseres corlissi Petz & Foissner, 1992. Most of these 22 ciliate species disappeared from a raw culture within a few days (probably encystment), and a few cells were available from some species that resulted in incomplete identifications (e.g., genus-level). About the unrecorded five ciliate species, they are small in size (<60 ㎛ in vivo), and two of them live in a hyaline dwelling-tube, which is easily deserted by a cell with a stress. Their taxonomic classification is summarized as three classes, five orders, five families, and five genera. Here, we provide brief descriptions, micrographs of their morphology, and some remarks.

Objectives : This study aims to find out comparative results from Sasang Constitutional Medicine, Eight Constitution and Five Elements Constitution. Methods : Searching the records, papers, documents and analyzing. Results and Conclusions : Sasang Constitutional Medicine Theory is organized with Taeyang, Taeum, Soyang, Soum. Eight Constitution is classified mokyang, Mokum, Toyang, Toum, Keumyang, Keumum, Suyang, Suum. and Five Elements Constitution is explained to Yin Yang and Five Elements.
